Schema as parameter

Im trying to pass into a function the schema name as a parameter but get error re table does not exist when trying to compile
so basically i wanna do a select of the same column name and table but accross different schemas so i created function as below.
How do i do this?
FUNCTION FUN_TEST (p_schema VARCHAR2)RETURN VARCHAR2 IS
(p_result)
BEGIN
  select column
into p_result
from p_schema.table;
RETURN 'test';
END FUN_SYSLASTUSED;

Hi,
If you can't hard-code any identifier (such as the schema neame) into a SQLstatement, then you have to use dynamic SQL.
Here's an example:
CREATE OR REPLACE FUNCTION FUN_TEST (p_schema VARCHAR2)
RETURN VARCHAR2
IS
       p_result       VARCHAR2 (4000);         -- or whatever the length of column_1 is
       sql_txt       VARCHAR2 (100);
BEGIN
    sql_txt :=  'SELECT  column_1'
             || ' FROM    ' || p_schema || '.table_x'
         || ' WHERE   ROWNUM = 1';
    dbms_output.put_line (sql_txt || ' = sql_txt');     -- for debugging only
    EXECUTE IMMEDIATE  sql_txt
         INTO       p_result;
    RETURN  'test';
END FUN_TEST          -- name (if given) must be right
;I added the condition "WHERE ROWNUM = 1" to keep from getting errors when the table contains more than one row. What are you going to do if the table doesn't contain any rows, or if the table doesn't exist?
It's very suspicious that you know the table and column names, but not the schema. That sounds as if you are creating tables with the same structure in different schemas. Is that really a good idea? Maybe ther's a better way to design this application.

  • Question about authentication scheme plugin parameter

    Hi, <br>
    Could anyone kindly tell me what the below quoted "password" means ? <br>
    <br><b> validate_password      userPassword="password"</b><br><br>
    Is it the value of <b>userPassword</b> in my directory or just a parameter name that I should use when I use the HTTP form based call.<br>It would be even great if there is an example. Thanks!

    Hi Sino,
    When the values from the form reach the authentication scheme (e.g. name1=value1&name2=value2&name3=value3), it selects the values it wants its plug-ins to process by passing them in the "creds" challenge parameter (e.g. creds: name3 name2). "password" is just one such parameter name passed to the plug-ins so that the value can be used to process authentication.
    This value is used by the validate_password plug-in to bind to the user directory for authenticating the user who has been identified by preceding plug-in(s).
    So both your guesses are partly correct - it is related to the HTTP form field and it is related to the userPassword attribute in your directory. Hope the explanation helps in understanding the caveats to the guesses. Also, it would help if you experiment with these parameters a little and observe the changes in behaviour and any errors displayed.
    One other thing..shouldn't it be -
    validate_password obCredentialPassword="password"
    -Vinod

  • Schema as parameter in an stored procedure.

    Hi all!
    I would need to set the schemas I'll have to use in an stored procedure as a variable, this is:
    - I have this query: SELECT * FROM USER.TABLE_CUSTOMERS;
    - I'll have to set the schema with the parameter I have: SELECT * FROM s_user.TABLE_CUSTOMERS;
    - ...where s_user is an string and can have values like ADMIN, PREMIUMUSER, BASICUSER an so on, the schemas I have. But this doesn't runs so... there's any way to implement what I want to do? Hope you can understand my problem :)
    Thanks in advance!

    Thanks to both for the help :-) Now I think I'm near to the solution, but have some doubts an problems... lets see. I'll have this procedure in a general schema, because it will be executing every midnight in order to update a table in all the other schemas. I could just copy this procedure in each schema, but this is not a good solucion since a change in code means to change again the procedure in many schemas. So the idea is to have the procedure in a general schema, ok. Although a dynamic sql is not the best solution, I think is the only one for this, so I think I'll use...
    EXECUTE IMMEDIATE 'alter session set CURRENT_SCHEMA=' ||s_user;
    ..in my procedure. But now, modifying the code, something doesn't run well. Imagine I have this stupid code:
    CREATE OR REPLACE PROCEDURE Stupid_Procedure AS
    myVar NUMBER;
    BEGIN
    EXECUTE IMMEDIATE 'alter session set CURRENT_SCHEMA=mySchema';
    INSERT INTO acmeTable (acmeField) SELECT TO_CHAR(sysdate, 'MM') FROM dual;
    END Stupid_Procedure;
    Well, the acmeTable is a table in mySchema, but not in the current schema, but having set the CURRENT_SCHEMA to mySchema previously, there should not be any problem with the following query, should be? Well, yes, there's a problem because Oracle remarks this row and tells me... "table or view does not exist"
    What do you think I'm doing wrong?
    Thank you sincerely.

  • How to map multiple output values to the output schema in biztalk mapper?

    Hi,
    In my biztalk mapper, I am using a "database lookup" functoid which is linked to a "Value Extractor" functoid. A source schema field is linked to the database lookup functoid which is linked to a "Value Extractor" functoid
    which is linked to the destination schema field. After passing the required parameter values in the database lookup functoid (lookup value, conn string, table, column name), I know that the result set may get multiple rows which are transferred to the "value
    extractor" functoid.
    Now what I want is to create a record in destination schema for each row in the result set. My current mapping is as below:
    1) Source record > looping functoid > destination record
    2) Source record field > Database functoid > Value Extractor functoid > dest record field
    but this mapping is giving me only the first value in result set.
    Please help me in this so that my map creates a destination record for each value in the result set.
    e.g. if query [select * from employees where surname='Brown'] returns five records, then I would like five records in the destination schema.
    Thanks
    manibest

    Hi Muhammad Ehsan,
    Thank you for the useful suggestion. however, I have only one difficulty in building your suggested solution. in my query  (select
    * from employees where surname='Brown'), the value of surname is coming from the source schema field which could be different in each source schema record field.
    lets say that source schema instance has 3 records in it as below:
    <Records>
    <Record><Surname>Brown<Surname></Record>
    <Record><Surname>Atkinson<Surname></Record>
    <Record><Surname>White<Surname></Record>
    </Records>
    For each of above records the database query should run with the relevant surname value. if database has 5 records for "Brown", 3 records for "Atkinson" and 1 record for "White" then the destination schema should create (5+3+1) = 9 records in
    total.
    To create a destination canonical schema that works fine, I have to somehow pass this surname value from source schema as parameter so that it uses this value to poll the database and get records. Is there a way I can pass this surname value as parameter
    to the destination canonical schema? Thank you so much for the help.

  • How to pass a LogicalSchema as parameter

    Hi all,
    is there a way to pass the LSchema to a package?
    I try to explain my situation.
    I have a source with 3 different schema (one for each company) with the same table structure.
    I have a target with 3 different schema (one for each company) with the same table structure.
    I have done a package that load 1 table in the first schema pair.
    To load this table I have created a procedure that make a "create table as" statement (using KM I have poor performance, any suggest for performance KM is appreciated).
    Inside procedure command I have to write the logical Schema, but in this way I can't reuse the package, cause I have to create another package equal to the first and modify the logical schema inside the procedure command.
    I believe this is not the right way.
    Is there a way to reuse code passing logical schema like parameter?
    Thanks in advance

    Hi CTS,
    I have followed your suggestion, but probably I'm missing something.
    I have created 3 context (1 enviroment (test) for 3 customer) and mapped the logicl schema with the physical.
    Then I have deleted the logical schema "cabled" and left it blank in my procedure command.
    Then I have executed the procedure with one of the new context created, but i receive an error (seems can't retrieve the LSCHEMANAME, why, if I have mapped the L and P schema to the context?):

  • How to prefix schema name to a called procedure?

    Hi,
    I have five different schemas and each and every schema has the same procedures and same set of tables.
    In calling procedure, there is one IN parameter which is schema name. In this procedure I am calling another procedure. In this scenario how to prefix schema name parameter to the called procedure?
    Urgent please.
    Thank you.

    Make use of Package constants:
    [list]
    [*]Create a package specification in each schema called REGION.
    [*]Create a Package specification constant CURRENT_SCHEMA string literal equal the owner of the REGION package.
    [*]This very very simple package (with no body) will be different in each of your five schemas. You must not transport this package between schemas.
    [*]For the procedures you are calling, redefine the argument of schema_name with a DEFAULT REGION.CURRENT_SCHEMA value. This should give you what you are looking to do - making all the procedure code (except for the REGION package spec) portable between the schema.

  • Oracle Proc in edmx via add function import is not working

    I have a mandate to call a external oracle package from my local oracle db proc using Entity Framework. I have created a synonym for that. When I am trying to polpulate the oracle procedure data in my mvc screen using odp.net. The screen is closing automatically when I am trying to retive the column info by clicking "get column information" under "Add Function Import" in model browser.
    Following is my code snipet
    1. created a oracle stored proc to call the external proc
    CREATE OR REPLACE PROCEDURE USP_GET_DETAILS
    IN_ID IN NUMBER,
    OUT_RESULT OUT SYS_REFCURSOR
    IS
    OUT_FED_TAX_ID_NO VARCHAR2(50);
    OUT_PARTY_ID_NO NUMBER;
    OUT_PARTY_TYP_CD NUMBER;
    BEGIN
    PKG_GET_DETAILS.USP_GET_DETAILS_INFO (IN_ID, OUT_FED_TAX_ID_NO, OUT_PARTY_ID_NO);
    OPEN OUT_RESULT FOR
         SELECT OUT_FED_TAX_ID_NO, OUT_PARTY_ID_NO FROM DUAL;
    END USP_GET_DETAILS;
    2. added the proc "USP_GET_DETAILS" using "Update model using database" in my edmx file
    3. Now proc has been added to my edmx file under SSDL
    <Function Name="USP_GET_DETAILS" Aggregate="false" BuiltIn="false" NiladicFunction="false" IsComposable="false" ParameterTypeSemantics="AllowImplicitConversion" Schema="BCS_OWNER">
    <Parameter Name="IN_ID" Type="number" Mode="In" />
    </Function>
    4. added following code to my web.config file
    <oracle.dataaccess.client>
    <settings>
    <add name="BCS_OWNER.USP_GET_DETAILS.RefCursor.OUT_RESULT" value="implicitRefCursor bindinfo='mode=Output'" />
    <add name="BCS_OWNER.USP_GET_DETAILS.RefCursorMetaData.OUT_RESULT.Column.0" value="implicitRefCursor metadata='ColumnName=OUT_FED_TAX_ID_NO;NATIVEDATATYPE=Varchar2;ProviderType=Varchar2'" />
    <add name="BCS_OWNER.USP_GET_DETAILS.RefCursorMetaData.OUT_RESULT.Column.1" value="implicitRefCursor metadata='ColumnName=OUT_PARTY_ID_NO;NATIVEDATATYPE=Number;ProviderType=Decimal'" />
    </settings>
    </oracle.dataaccess.client>
    5. underModel Browser try to add the procedure under "Add Import Function", select "Complex Type". when i am clicking on "Get column information" button, the screen blank for some time and then auto closing the screen without displaying any column info. I would like to know if any thing wrong i am doing on my steps? please help?

    I managed to workaround this problem.
    I add the function with no return value. Then in the Model Explorer you go to the properties of the imported function and edit the return type property, the same dialog appears, but this time it works as expected(considering you have set all the values correctly on your config file).

  • Can we schedule BI publisher report through pl/sql?

    Hi,
    If any new user is created and given "schedule report" privilege,
    instead of logging to bipublisher portal with the user's id and scheduling individual report I want to have a pl/sql package which when fired, if finds any new user should run those reports and save output for the user.
    For these I should call the bipublisher report in pl/sql through scheduler schema, set parameter values, provide run_interval, output_format etc.
    Please let me know if this is possible and also give example code.
    This is urgent requirement. Please reply ASAP.
    Thanks and Regards.

    Hi,
    am also having same requriment, if u did plz guide me.
    Thanks.

  • Calling a Stored Procedure with JDBC Adapter ?

    I'm trying to call a Stored Procedure in my XI 3.0 JDBC adapter, but I get an "...invalid number of parameters...." error.
    Does anyone have an example of a Query SQL Statement and the corresponding Stored procedure?
    This is my test code. Eventually I would like to return a resultsett from the stored procedure.
    Query SQL Statement:
    call Sp_sapxi( 'F1' , 'xx' )
    Stored Procedure:
    CREATE OR REPLACE PROCEDURE Sp_sapxi (
      transtype_in IN      xi_flaggtest.TRANSTYPE%TYPE,
      status_in    IN      xi_flaggtest.STATUS%TYPE)
    IS
    BEGIN
      UPDATE xi_flaggtest

               WHERE transtype = transtype_in;
    END;

    you can clear the field key tags mandatory in the XML Schema interpreter parameter and make the Empty string value to Empty string from null value.
    For mapping : you can pass a value that is of the same format of date; but you can take your own value in the database since you are parsing the date format from one to other

  • Error in when null values are passed to datefield

    Hi all,
    We are facing some issue with null values in date fields while calling a stored procedure using JDBC Adapter in one of the interfaces.
    When the value is null, XI gives errors in the communication channel.
    Case 1 , When the value is mapped to blank. : The adapter gives an error related to date format. Unsparseable date “”.
    Case 2 , When the value is not mapped at all : The adapter gives an error related to wrong number of arguments for the stored procedure.
    One option for fixing this issue is to hardcode the value to all zeros in a appropriate date format. However this is not acceptable in our case.
    Did anybody face this issue before. If yes what was the approach taken. Can you please let me know if anybody has any inputs on this.
    Thanks in advance,
    Younus

  • How to use sampling procedure

    Hello Friends,
    I have to map the following scenario. Please advise the config & master data.
    1) My sample size should change if my acceptance & rejecetion level changes.
    2) If rejection increases then the sample size in the next lot should increase & the vice versa.
    Regards

    Hello Sir,
    Thanks for your valuable reply. I have progressed on this. I need some more help.
    Let us park DMR for a while. DMR is working fine. But I have some issues in results recording.
    Let us only work only with sampling procedure with sampling scheme.
    I have taken one inspection characteristic. It is quantitavie characteristic. It has lower limit as 10% & upper limit as 15%.
    what I have done
    1)
    I have created one sampling scheme = ABC
    Valuation parameter = variable inspection by S method
    sampling table = severity/AQL
    For normal inpsection (4) I have taken AQL as 2.
    Lot size = 100
    Sample size = 15
    K-Factor = 3
    2)
    I created one sampling procedure = XYZ
    Sampling type = Use sampling scheme
    Valuation mode = Variable inpscetion S - Method (two limits)
    without inpsection points
    assigned sampling scheme = ABC
    No multiple samples
    Inspection severity   4
    AQL value             2.000
    3)
    I assigned the sampling procedure in the plan with the characteristic.
    4)
    I did GR for 100 & sample of 15 generated.
    why I have done
    1)
    In sampling scheme
    valuation parameter = variable inspection by S method (because my characteristic is quantitative)
    2)
    In sampling procedure
    Valuation mode = Variable inpscetion S - Method (two limits) (because my characteristic is quantitative with lower & upper limit )
    My issues:
    1) Is my settings for a quantitative characteristic with lower & upper limit correct?
    2) During results recording system is asking to enter StdDev. What is standard deviation?
    3) How characteristic is accepted & rejected? I am not getting any pop up to select accept or reject?
    Regards

  • Syntax error in function call through EF6

    I'm trying to call a function from an EF6 query but it seems the compiled statement has a syntax error and the DBMS bails out with "ORA-00933: SQL-Befehl wurde nicht korrekt beendet" (SQL statement ends with an inappropriate clause). As far as I understand the Oracle .NET provider compiles E-SQL to SQL for Oracle in the first place, so how come the statement is malformed?
    Here's what EF logs for this particular statement:
    Opened connection at 26.01.2015 09:46:14 +01:00
    SELECT
    "Extent1"."Z_AS" AS "Z_AS"

    Closed connection at 26.01.2015 09:46:14 +01:00
    This is with VS 2013 Update 4, ODP.NET (ODTwithODAC121021 package) and Oracle 12c DBMS.
    The function is defined as
    create or replace function fn_GetAssesmentChilds_AusMenge(strFilter varchar2)
    RETURN TTabOneNumber pipelined
    is
    IndexEing PLS_INTEGER;
    IndexZ_Aus PLS_INTEGER;

    Cursor CursorAssessCh is select column_value from TABLE(fn_GetAssesmentChilds_AusInt(IndexEing));
    BEGIN

    close CursorAssessCh;
    fetch CursorEing into IndexEing;
    end loop;
    close CursorEing;
    END fn_GetAssesmentChilds_AusMenge;
    Here's the sample code for what I'm trying to achieve:

    For the sake of completeness, here are the relevant parts from the EDMX:

    Hello Thanvi
    It seems that you need to apply the OSS note 1041283:

  • JRC ParameterField Interface/Classs no access to isOptionalPrompt attribute

    In the model schema for parameter field, is there a way to find out if a parameter is optional?  It looks like the api does not provide a method to the object attribute isOptionalPrompt and I'm guessing that this attribute is private.  Am I wrong?  And if is this way, will the JRC provide this functionality in the future?
    Edited by: Greg Ditrick on Dec 19, 2008 3:58 PM

    Hugo,
    Yes the code is I guess confidential, as we market the product.
    However I believe the previous post suggested a way to apply the attributes to the document. These attributes work in a similar was to normal attributes so you can use methods such as :
    From LibraryObject - setAttribute
    after first constructing the AttributeValue which you could obtain from a user input form, and then apply.
    It depends what your requirements are : If WebUI gives you all you need, apart from extended attributes, then it may be worth you writing a small jsp that could be included into the WebUi pages to display the properties - but don't forget this is not supported by Oracle.
    You would then need to write a front end form to set the attributes, the key trick here is if you want to amend WebUI, you have to obtain the id of the document. I've not looked at WebUI in detail as we wrote our own interface, but you would need to hook in somewhere there.
    If your requirements are wider then you may want to think about either writing or purchasing a customised user interface and functionality.
    Maybe if you could provide a few more details of your requirements I could help a little more. If you would like to take this out of the forums, email me [email protected]

  • How to retrive table names with Java?

    Hello!
    If I connect to my Oracle Database 10g Express Edition Instance with some Java code and I run the following code:
                   ResultSet resultSet = databaseMetaData.getTables(null, null, "%", types);
                   while( resultSet.next() )
                        String tableName = resultSet.getString(3);
                        System.out.println(tableName);
    I get loads of different names of tables beside those that belongs to my user like:
    DR$NUMBER_SEQUENCE
    DR$OBJECT_ATTRIBUTE
    DR$POLICY_TAB
    ARTICLES
    BIN$tQZXQ0iGufbgQAB/AQELFg==$0
    BIN$tQZXQ0iLufbgQAB/AQELFg==$0
    But when I log in to http://127.0.0.1:9090/apex I get a perfect list of the tables belonging to the user:
    ARTICLES
    CUSTOMERS
    DATATYPES
    ORDERROWS
    ORDERS
    REQUESTROWS
    REQUESTS
    SUPPLIERROWS
    SUPPLIERS
    Does any one understand how to access just these table names that is created with my user?
    Best regards

    Hello Adrian!
    Yes you are right I now understand that this is the wrong forum.
    So I posted the "same question" at:
    How to retrive table names belonging only to a user?
    How ever I seems to have problem with the schema name parameter any way.
