SCM Connection

Hello Guru's
One of my client asked me a question can we connect a Non-IDES R/3 system to IDES SCM system.
and How many r/3 system can we connect to one SCM system.
I know it was a bit Different question, but I just want to know the answer.
Thanks
Satya

Hi satya,
1) Non-sap systems can be integrated with SCM systems
2) One or more sap system can be integrated with an SCM system but the reverse way I am not sure.

  • SCM connections in JDeveloper (simple)

    In an attempt to get familiar with SCM operations I have attempted to simulate the checkin/checkout/version processes on one machine. Established a shared workarea under User1, sharing with User2 and User3. In JDev, created SCM connection with both users and created private workareas for User2 and User3. When I connect with one connection, both are connected and when I disconnect connection for one, both are disconnected. When I open .jws file for both connections, only 1 of the two connections show icons for source control. When you connect with one of JDev defined SCM connections, are all JDev connections made? If so, please explain why only one project shows SCM checkin/out icons.
    Is this by design or bug?

    Fred,
    good point. I recommend to clean out the password when you leave the desktop and add it back when you return. I'll investigate into this issue and file and ER.

  • How to use ConnectionManager to manage SCM connections?

    One of the cool new things in 9.0.3 Preview is the way that the SCM clients use the connection manager. I want to add this feature to my Perforce addin. So far, I've defined P4ConnectionType, P4ConnectionWrapper, and P4ConnectionFactory; and added the following lines to initialize()
    final ConnectionManager cm = ConnectionManager.getInstance();
    cm.registerConnectionType(new P4ConnectionType());
    Now what? It looks like I need to create a model Node for my Connection to be a child of oracle.ide.model.Connections, but who creates it, and how do its Attributes get set?
    Even after the ConnectionDescriptor is set up, I don't understand how to tell the ConnecetionManager construct a new connection. Or am I just supposed to make a direct call to P4ConnectionFactory.createConnection()?
    A little sample code would be a bug help.
    Thanks.

    This is probably not the answer you want to hear, but unfortunately the connection manager wasn't designed in a way that makes it flexible enough to use for SCM connections. We tried to push for it to be made more generic when we started developing SCM support for the IDE, but the feeling at the time was that the connection manager was only to be used for database connections (however, this was at some point extended to application server connections too).
    Because of this historical implementation choice, most of the core extensions in the IDE which use connections (UDDI, Web Services, CVS, Oracle SCM, WebDAV) have implementations that do not use the connection manager. At the moment, there is no common publically exposed API that will allow you to do something similar easily with Perforce. It's still possible to do this using the available extension APIs, it just won't be straightforward (e.g. you'll have to implement your own connection wizard, create Elements for your connection nodes, add and remove elements under the Connections node when your SCM extension is activated and deactivated).
    We're using ER 2593664 to track future enhancements to the connection manager to make it easier to use for other connection types. You can follow the progress of this ER on metalink.
    Thanks,

  • ECC and SCM connection

    Hi folks,
    i would like to see ECC and SCM scenarios connected by CIF, how ever HU2(ECC) and HU8 (SCM) systems are not interconnected. let us know whom do we need to contact in this regard.
    Thanks in Advance ...

    Hi Amit,
    The ES (emphasis on Enterprise Service or Web Service) Workplace Systems are actually setup for customers or consultants to test drive SAP delivered Enterprise Services, so it stands to reason that integration between these systems would be using web services / SAP Enterprise services for the most part.
    Trying to contact someone to configure CIF / ALE integration between HU2 and HU8 is not going to work for you.

  • JDeveloper Team Development with SCM

    I am trying to use JDeveloper & SCM in a team environment. I have SCM working for version control. Do I need to have all developers share the same SCM connection instead of connecting to the repository with their own accounts?
    Thanks in advance,
    Steve

    Steve,
    Create a configuration stripe of the code you want the developers to work on.
    Create a workarea based on this configuration and make it shared, either by granting
    access to each developer or grant access to the PUBLIC role.
    When each developer creates their own private workarea ask them to create
    it based on the above shared workarea. Each developer thus has access to the
    same code and will not disrupt each other with development they are working on.

  • Create/Access DB Connection Node via Ext SDK API

    How do I create/access a database connection in Jdev
    programmatically?
    I found the top level Connections folder: oracle.ide.model.Connections in
    Ext SDK. The documentation says "Top level IDE level Connections Node. Under
    this node is where various datastores should be mounted. Examples of these
    include but are not limited to Database Connections, Oracle SCM Connections,
    WebDAV Connections, CVS Connections."
    However, it doesn't mention how to go from there to access sub nodes such as
    "Database Connection".
    I appreciate it very much if anyone could post some pointers.

    Hi Florian,
    U'll have to create  table in java dictionary project if u r gonna use EJB's with wrppaer class i.e. ur java class which will reside in  your java project.
    u'll have to give ur dictionary proj name to database-sources-aliases.xml of ur .ear project.(i.e. Enterprise appication project)
    So it will get a connectin with Dictionary project.
    yes you will have to import java bean model in your WD project if u wann give WD interface

    I am not quite sure what either of you are after, but if you hit the "Documentation" link on OTN you will find the documentation, such as the above list, for almost all of Oracle products. Most are available online in HTML format or PDF and some have a part number so that they can be ordered.
    The 10g Developer Suite Documentation is here: http://otn.oracle.com/documentation/dev10g.html

  • Master data transfer using CIF

    Hi all,
    I am just clueless. I am trying to transfer master data from ERP to EWM but it ain't happening. It is throwing out this error. System: P6QCLNT800 User: RFC_USER_1 12/11/2010
    Function/Q/SAPAPO/CIF_LOC_INBOUND
    Text: Internal error in IGS2, US. RFC: Connection Error.
    Here P6QCLNT800 is the target system and RFC destination and also the logical system for SCM EWM. User is the RFC user.
    All my settings and configs are right atleast as per SAP documentation for integrating EWM as an add on. I tried after disabling geocoders for US using the GEOCODERS report. Still I am getting, I have checked my RFC destination and tested my connection it is working fine in SM59. What should I do to proceed further?
    I posted this in SCM LE forum but I guess this post is more suitable here.

    85,
    This document tells me to create a RFC user with user type System. While I've created with the type communications.
    This shouldn't make much difference.  When I am debugging a new implementation I will make the USERID dialogue with SAP_ALL until all connectivity problems are resolved, then change the USERID to System (I have never used communications, although I do not doubt that it works) , and take away the excess authorization.  From the sound of it, the type of USERID may not be your problem.
    A common problem is the case sensitivity of passwords.  You usually get some kind of logon error message, though (with standalone SCM anyway).  When your userid is 'dialogue', and you execute SM59, and perform a remote logon, this will tell whether logon issues are still a problem.  I always set my passwords in the destination to all uppercase, since the CIF seems to capitalize PWs before it sends them across.
    does your document fit my case?
    Not exactly. Unfortunately, I have never set up EWM as an addon, so I can't speak from experience.  The instructions in your doc seem to mostly parallel the standard SCM connectivity docs though, so most of the steps are probably the same.
    Best Regards,
    DB49

    working as soon as I added a line to call com.bea.jcom.AuthInfo.setDefault() method.
    I didn't think this was necessary since I already gave permissions to that user
    using DCOMCNFG. Thanks for you help.

    Your jcom.log indicates you are trying to access the COM object with
    Authentication
    "BXDOMAIN/akumar". Add this user to the default access/launch permissions
    (using
    DCOMCNFG) on the machine hosting the COM object.
    Also, make sure you put this in your Java code:
    com.bea.jcom.AuthInfo.setDefault("BXDOMAIN", "akumar", "<password>");

  • JDev 9.0.3 can't generate stored procedure wrapper for ARRAY java type

    Hi,
    I have a java stored procedure which looks like this:
    public static void CurveFit(ARRAY in_x_y, ARRAY[] in_out_param) {
    I had no problem to generate a PL/SQL wrapper using JDev 3.2 mapping the ARRAY parameters to user-defined Oracle types. Here is the code JDev 3.2 generated:
    PROCEDURE curvefit(in_x_y IN fit_data, in_out_param IN OUT fit_params) AS
    LANGUAGE JAVA
    NAME 'CurveFitWrapper.CurveFit(oracle.sql.ARRAY, oracle.sql.ARRAY[])';
    Now I use JDev 9.0.3, but it refuses to add my function to the deployment profile. "Why not?" gives the following explanation: "Parameter #1 is of type oracle.sql.ARRAY which doesn't map to any PL/SQL data type". That's wrong! If I create the wrapper myself it works just fine.
    How to get around this situation? I don't want to go back to JDev 3.2...
    Regards,
    Plamen

    I have tried a disconnect/reconnect from within Jdev without success. First, I have to choose "disconnect" twice from the file->source control menu. (The first time I click it does nothing). Then during reconnect I choose my SCM connection, then I choose my workarea and get a pop up that says, "Failed to set my_workarea as the active workarea". I click "OK". Choose my workarea again and get another popup that is blank. Then I click "OK". Now I see a list of SCM connections. I keep getting the blank popup until I hit cancel. Now the overlay icons appear and it seems that I am in fact connected. But I still get the checkin/checkout exceptions. So I have to restart Jdev to get back to normal.
    I also tried executing the sql in the exception from SQL*Plus and it works perfectly.

  • Updating the contents of repository.

    hello...,
    I am using Jdev10.1.2 with SCM.(a newbie).
    Somehow i made a scm connection as 'repoadmin' and created a workarea WA1.
    Then added 'project1' to WA1.
    Now to make the changes made in 'project1' to be updated in the repo what i have to do?
    Help me..
    Rgds
    jeneesh.

    Your trying to read and write to the same file at once. Just read everything into a string and open the output stream later in the program. This should work (I think):
    import java.io.*;
    import java.lang.String;
    public class UpdateFile{
    public static void main( String args[]){
    try{
    BufferedReader in = new BufferedReader( new FileReader("SchedulerEvents.ini"));
    String output = "";
    String str;
    String newString = null;
    while(( str = in.readLine()) != null){
    newString = str.replaceAll("20030605", "20030507");
    output = output + newString;
    System.out.println( newString);
    in.close();
    BufferedWriter out = new BufferedWriter( new FileWriter("SchedulerEvents.ini"));
    out.write( output);
    out.close();
    } catch( IOException ioe){}
    }

    to configure acceptance of the ABAP (integrated ITS / WebGUI) saplogonticket on the java stack, just log into the java stack (http://FQDN:50xxx/nwa) and select configuration  THe last item in the list is Trusted System... click.
    on the ensuing page, click on the add trusted system button --> by querying trusted sytem.
    Enter the required data on the page:
    system type: ABAP
    host name: FQDN
    System Nr: your instance number
    client (of the productive client)
    and a username and pw with superuser priveliges in the system (SAP_ALL/SAP_NEW, etc).

    Dear Arun,
    Happy New year........
    Sorry for the very delayed reply.
    As the upgrade is being carried on the system, i cudn't try the solution provided by you.
    So as per ur guidance, U dont want to me to perform the connectivity from SCM to BI. As i said the transaction RSA1 in SCM client is not accessible.
    If i Perform the Connectivity from BI to SCM alone, will my activity(Best Practice Installation) proceed fine without any errors?
    The Connection between BI to SCM can be done.
    Pls Guide me....

    Hi Gurus,
    What is the implication using two SCM systems with single R/3 system when both SCM systems using for different modules (say one for DP and other one for GATP).
    I know SAP recommends using multiple OLTP with single SCM. But this scenario opposit of that.

    Edited by: BKN on May 6, 2008 7:08 PM

    It is possible that there can be multiple SRM system connected to 1 R/3 system...You need to setup on...IMG>SRM->SRM Server->Technical Basic Settings>Define Backend System-> There you need to provide Logical System/Description/RFC Distination and Sys Type.
    I hope it clarifies your issue.
