SCM Master Data (BOD) hierarchy modelling question

Hello BI Modelling Experts!
I'm an SCM developer and we are experimenting with modelling a special SCM master data (BOD hierarchy - see [SAP Help BOD|http://help.sap.com/saphelp_scm70/helpdata/en/1a/d92d412ac9f323e10000000a155106/content.htm] and [product BOD assignment|http://help.sap.com/saphelp_scm70/helpdata/en/77/5f41418da8db2be10000000a1550b0/content.htm] for more details) in BI.
The problem is, I'm not really sure how we should go ahead.
The modelling difficulties can probably be understood if we condider the following scenarios for using BOD:
1. A BOD contains APO locations, but of course the same location can be in different BODs (having a different hierachy of locations)
2. BOD is assigned to an SCM product
3. Only one BOD is valid for a product at a specific time, but the BOD can be different for different time periods
4. A BOD structure (for a specific BOD name, i.e. BOD01) doesn't change, so the hierachy itself is not time dependent, but the actual assignment of a specific BOD to an SCM product is (or can be) time dependent
5. A BOD can have theoretically any number levels, so it can be 1 level or even 4-5 level as well

There is a HTG about Import master data and Hierarchy from SAP NT BW, the BPC cost center master data's property have corresponding attribute InfoObject 0COSTCENTER of BW.
what about for those properties which do not have corresponding attribute in BW? I would asume that START_ROUTINE and END_ROUTINE will do this in BPC side, can we also do this on BW side instead of BPC side?

Upload Master data and hierarchy from BW to BPC : Account Hierarchy

Hello,
I know that you all are aware the property "ACCTYPE" is not available in BW for Account master data.
The requirement here is to load master data and hierarchy for Account dimension from BW to BPC. Can anyone suggest the best approach to populate the priperty "ACCTYPE" in the account dimension member sheet in BPC during this automated load process?

Sure,
For exemple:
Assume that your infoprovider is 0COSTELMNT and you'll fill the ACCTYPE with the attribute 0CSTELMNTYP. (It's just a exemple).
In the transformation file, in the mapping field you just map the attribute to the property.
*OPTIONS
*MAPPING
ID=ID
ACCTYPE=0CSTELMNTYP
SCALING=*str(Y)
RATETYPE=*str(AVG)
IS_INPUT=*str(Y)
*CONVERSION
You can also, define a hardcode for any property.
F.E: ACCTYPE=*str(EXP)

Hi Experts,
Can anyone help me to understand how to update the Master data/Text/ Hierarchy regularly for BW DEV.
Since all the new query developments are taking place in DEV, users are not finding the latest Masterdata/ Texts /Hierarchy in the DEV system.
I have searched in SDN and got a document "HOW TO DOWNLOAD A HIERARCHY TO A FLAT FILE". However, is there any other way to upload the master data automatically on periodical basis.
Please help urgently.

If you want to extract master data from PRD in order to load in DEV, i suggest to do this (its a tricky thing):
For example, you want to download 0EMPLOYEE
1-In PRD, transaction RSD1
2-Enter 0EMPLOYEE
3-Copy the Master table for 0EMPLOYEE (/BI0/MEMPLOYEE)
4-transaction SE16
5-Enter the table name /BI0/MEMPLOYEE
6-in the selection screen, go to "Options" Menu and select "User parameters", and now select "Standard List SE16"
7-Execute
8-Now its show's up the 0employee data, go to "System" menu - List - Save - Local File
9-After you have the flat file, only rest create Infopackae in DEV Env. and load it from the flat file.

Error while loading the master data into hierarchy

Hi,
When i am trying to load the master data into a hierarchy, it is showing me the following error.
"Invalid Entry, hierarchy xxxxxx does not exist".
Can you please tell me what might be the possible cause for this error.

Have you created a hierarchy, I mean go to Transfer structure->Hierarchy structure
->create hierarchy, put a check of whether it is sorted or time dependent etc. after that while loading data through infopackage just check that you have selected an appropriate hierarchy name in hierarchy selection tab.

Issues with loading master data and hierarchy from BI InfoObject

Hi,
I was successful with loading the master data from BI InfoObject. It copies the text node as well but it discards the space I have in the technical name when it copies it to BPC. For example if my Text Node technical ID is "NODE 1" it copies it as "NODE1" on BPC side because of which my hierarchy load fails as it is not able to find "NODE 1".
What is the reason it deletes the space from technical ID? and how can I resolve this issue?
Do we have a provision to write a ABAP exit where I can check?
(PS: If i manuallay enter space on my BPC dimension the hierarchy loads successfully)

Export master data - A beginners design question

Business Scenario and requirement
Master data export from ERP system to a legacy system. Integration engine is SAP XI/PI system.
Question
There are BAPI: s that can be used for this purpose. My question is as follows:
1. Should SAP XI make call to the standard BAPIs to extract the data?
OR
2. Should we developed and schedule an ABAP module that calls the BAPI and exports the master data to a buffer table which in turn the SAP XI/PI can get the data from via a custom made RFC or BAPI?
What is the usual way of working in these cases?

First you need to select data from SAP and sent SAP XI using program.
You can check the data using T code SPROXY, check this might be helpful.

Master Data Explorer disables Model and Entities after every action in Excel

I'm working with MSSQL 2014 and Excel 2013 with the Master Data Services Add-on (MSQL and Excel are both trial versions.)
When I connect to the model then I perform any action on an entity in that model, the Model and the list of Entities in the Master Data Explorer panel become disabled and I have to close the pane, reconnect to the MDS server and select the model again.
My MDS security settings are fine because I can edit the entities I want from Excel, it's just the disabling that is a pain.
Is this the behaviour of the trial version? I haven't found anything that says it is.

After turning up the logs on the MDS client and the MDS server, and putting Fiddler in between, I saw the client ask the server: Is DQSInstalled? The server politely responded: <IsInstalled>false</IsInstalled>. What criteria

Error while loading to master data infoobject hierarchy (0RPM_PORT_ITEM_HIERARCHY)

I have an issue while loading the data from psa to master data infoobject.
DTP Error:
When we had extracted the data from ECC to PSA, the values for field "IOBJNM" are not populated for 0RPM_PORT_ITEM_HIERARCHY
Thus it is throwing an error while populating this data to the target.
From where this field will fetch the values?
Why these values are not being populated from ECC?
Will there be any issue from BI side? can anyone help me on this.

Master data and Hierarchy load based on property

Hi,
My GL account FSV looks like this in ECC:
Node 1
   a/c 100
   a/c 200
Node 2
   a/c 100
   a/c 200
Node 1 accounts are all debits (so debit flag is checked for them).
Node 2 accounts are all credits (so credit flag is checked for them).
The same comes in BW.
When I am pulling it in BPC, it is saying that a/c 100 and a/c 200 has different parents.
I want to create two new accounts for each i.e. 4 in total
credit_100
credit_200
debit_100
debit_200
Need some help in writing the conversion logic for these.
Basically, we have to look at the property (debit/credit) and then assign a/c100 either to credit_100 or debit_100.
same for a/c 200.
Please advise at earliest.

You can use the mapping section of the transformation file for this purpose. It should be something like:
*COL(5) + *Str(_) + *COL(1)
I am considering that the 5th column of your file is the property. The 1st column is the ID.

Reporting on Alternate Hierarchy master data (HR-BW) thru DSO object

I have a quick question. I would appreciate if you know of any direction to approach this.
We have a hierarchy in a external system that we want to bring into BW as alternate hierarchies. The hier nodes are a bunch of leagacy hierarchies and the leaves will be 0COSTCENTER (R/3 values). After loading this hierarchy in BW, we need to manipulate and add 0POSITIONS to the 0COSTENTER hierarchies from R3 and store this back as another hierarchy (with 0POSITION as leaves below 0COSTCENTER). Now we need to report on this hierarchy and get stats like # vacant position, occupied position, etc.
Have you seen anybody doing this kind of manipulation, reading hierarchy data into DSO object, reporting, etc?
Any idea will be appreciated.

Master data hierarchy synchronization for BPC NW 7.5

Hi all,
Here is my situation,
Trying to load master data and hierarchy for BW costcenter. Parent CostCenter hierarchy is 10001000.
CostCenter members are concatenated with Controlling area 1000.
I followed the master data and hierachy sycnhronization for 7.5 without any success.
I want to load only CsstCenter members without concatenatinon e.g. instead of 1000F1200, I want F1200.
Note thaI cannot use SUPPRESSCHARACTER 1000 as it suppresses other unintended values like 1000F1000
I need a method to truncate only first four characters

Master Data & Hierarchy loading into BPC from BW

HI all,
When i am getting master data and hierarchy from BW i need to replace a "-" to an "_".
These members are parents in BW.
I was able to do that using a conversion file for the master data. But when i run the hierarchy package it says parents dont exist because the nodes that were pulled before are not with a underscore and not a dash.
Ex: XXXX-XX needs to be replaced as XXXX_XX.
This member is a parent aswell. So i need to add conversion in the hierarchy load. I did that but its not taking it.
Conversion file for hierarchy load looks like this:
External Internal
XXXX-XX XXXX_XX
I am on BPC NW7.5 SP6.

I think conversion file string manipulation for BW infoobject hierarchy imports has some issues. I suggest reporting the problem to SAP support by creating a message on the Service Marketplace. Please be very clear in the message about your setup and how to recreate the problem and why you think it is a bug so that you don't receive back a reply about it being a consulting issue. Expect some time to work through this with support and eventually development, with the goal of getting a correction note released to fix the issue.
In the meantime, you might try to do the string manipulation in the transformation file *MAPPING section instead of the conversion file.
NODENAME=NODENAME(1:4)*STR(-)NODENAME(5:6)
or substitute NODENAME above for PARENT if that is appropriate level with the issue.

More details for master data

Hi friends,
I want to know more details about the master data, when there is one cube or dso, how can I find out that master data objects in that?
When right click on master data info object and display, there is tabs called u2018general, business explorer, master data/texts, hierarchy, attribute and compoundingu2019, want to know much details on each tab and option in that.
I know some thing about these options, but want to know all options. This is basic question, but wants to know detaily from experts. Please give more details on this. Thanks in advance.

there are 6 tabs in master data datasource
1. general tab, 2. Business explorer 3. master data/text 4. Hirarchy 5. attribute 6. Compounding
General:
in this there are 4 options
1. dictionary : give data type of that object, give length of the object, convertion rotiune is alpha which makes
"ALPHA conversion", is a transaction (transaction code RSMDCNVEXIT) that checks the format of all values of characteristics that use one of the conversion routines ALPHA, GJAHR and NUMCV. If values are found that do not have the correct internal format it can replace them by correct value and update all dependant SAP NetWeaver BI objects (like InfoCubes, Hierarchies, master data of other characteristics...).
The most important conversion routine - due to its common use - is the ALPHA routine that converts purely numeric user input like '4711' into '004711' (assuming that the characteristic value is 6 characters long). If a value is not purely numeric like '4711A' it is left unchanged.
transfer routine : when u want to write the routine use the create buttom.
Business explorer:
use authorization relevant check box when you want the object as authorization and use in report based on user requirement.
Master data/text:
it shows the object has attr or text or both, you can find by identifing the check box
Hirarchy:
if the check box of with hierarchy is checked then it has hierarchy.
Attributes:
it shows the attributes of the attributes.
compounding:
In Compounding, A Field or another Object is attached to an Info Object. A Compounding Characteristic is when object's definition is incomplete without the definition of another Characteristic Info Object.
We can also determine whether we want to compound the characteristic to other InfoObjects. Sometimes we need to compound InfoObjects in order to map the data model. Some InfoObjects cannot be defined uniquely without compounding.
For Example the Info Object - Location (0PP_LOCAT) has to be assigned with a Compound Info Object - Plant (0PLANT).
By using compound InfoObjects, you can model the dependencies between InfoObjects. You can compound InfoObjects to map the data structure of a source system.
