Screen flicker after updating to 10.6.8

Hello,
I have a MacBookPro6,2 (Mid 2010 model) that I recently updated to Mac OS X 10.6.8. After the update, I notice that the boot process isn't as seamless as it used to be, it basically goes like this:
1. Turn computer on, Apple logo and grey screen appears.
2. Progress indicator spins for about 20 seconds.
3. Screen turns black.
4. Screen fades to blue.
5. Screen fades to desktop.
It used to go like this:
1. Turn computer on, Apple logo and grey screen appears.
2. Progress indicator spins for about 20 seconds.
3. Screen turns blue.
4. Screen fades to desktop.
Is anyone else seeing similar behavior? I'm just curious to know if this is something new for this update or if there's something more going on that the update may have uncovered that I should be concerned about. Just seems a little odd.

You need to be patient. There is no need to post again within minutes of the first post. Try force closing the App Store app and then reset the iPad.
In order to close apps, you have to drag the app up from the multitasking display. Double tap the home button and you will see apps lined up going left to right across the screen. Swipe to get to the app that you want to close and then swipe "up" on the app preview thumbnail to close it.
Next, reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.

PDA screen flicker when updating control properties

Hi all,
I'm developing a mobile application for Windows Mobile 5 using LabVIEW 2009 SP1 and the Mobile Module. After coming to terms with many of the limitations, I've got a simple menu driven interface working. The interface consists of a transparent 240x320 picture control to which I draw the menu item text using the Draw Text At Point VI, along with an icon representing the menu item. Behind this picture control is a second picture control which contains the selection graphic to show which menu item is highlighted.
The problem I'm now facing is an annoying screen flicker every time a control property for the selection graphic is set. Specifically when the user navigates the menu using the up/down arrows on the device, the menu selection on the screen is moved using the Position->Top property to move it to highlight the correct menu item. Whenever this property is set, the whole screen flashes white and redraws.
Presumably this is due to the top level picture control being redrawn when the underlying control is updated (which makes perfect sense), but I wish it wasn't so noticeable.
So a couple of questions:
1. Is there any way to enable double-buffering of the display from the Mobile Module or on the device itself?
2. Is my picture control behind picture control design flawed? I would use a system listbox for the menu but it's a bit ugly, and doesn't support icons/symbols under the Mobile Module. Other limitations of the Module Mobile (like string controls that can't have transparent backgrounds) led me to use picture controls as the best overall solution.

I just did a day's worth of testing using C# and .NET for Windows Mobile (in Visual Studio 2005) and was able to reproduce the same interface without any flickering issues. Not having to poll the device's hardware buttons is also a positive
The key is to override the main form's OnPaintBackground() method.
From "Crafting Smartphone User Interfaces Using .NET Compact Framework":
OnPaintBackground
This method needs to be over ridden to prevent the OS from repainting the background each time the user navigates the ListView, causing flicker. If you don't need a background then just override this method but provide no implementation.
So it looks like I'll be doing things in C# for this project. As the mobile device won't be used for data acquisition, the Mobile Module isn't a necessity. I just hope .NET's serial functionality is as good as LabVIEW's!

White screen problem after updating to 1.1 firmware

My 2G iPod Nano worked fine with 1.0.1 and 1.0.2 firmware but after updating to 1.1 I get white screen everytime I turn it on after longer period of time. Turning the iPod off and then right back on makes it work again. I have done restore 3 times without effect. I even removed the firmware files so that iTunes downloads them again when doing the restore but that didn't work either.
Should I return it or wait for new firmware? Has anyone else had this problem after updating to 1.1?

Disconnect iPod and close iTunes.
Firmware files are in "Documents and Settings\username\Application Data\Apple Computer\iTunes\iPod Software Updates" folder.
You should still have the 1.0.2 files named "iPod_19.1.0.2.ipsw" and "iPod_19.1.0.2.ipsw.signature" in there if have you upgraded from 1.0.1 version.
Remove 1.1 files from the folder so that only those to files are in there.
Disconnect from network (I switched off my wlan) so that iTunes can't download the new version. Connect your iPod and do Restore, iTunes will now use the old firmware files because it can't connect to the internet.

ZBook 14 - Can't change screen resolution after update

After I installed some software updates the Laptop was suggesting me, my screen resolution went suddenly from 1900x1200 to 1200x720 after reboot, and it doesn't let me change it, not even to a smaller resolution. I am quite frustrated, because I will need the computer next week for visualization works and I really need the display working well.
It doesn't let me change the resolution. The display and graphics drivers are up to date and working properly, according to the device manager. I made a system recovery, but that just made everything worse although the resolution thing worked again, I had to run a startup repair several times before my laptop would boot propery again. This didn't solve the issue, since the display drivers weren't working properly (videos were being visualized very poorly) and even after updating them the computer wouldn't start up again, so I had to made another system recovery and now I am back to the point where I can't change the resolution and is starting to be really frustrating.

Remove the Battery for a couple of minutes, insert and see if the phone starts fine. Else, you may need to use the Nokia Software Recovery Tool to fresh install the OS at the expense of losing all your data ..

U920T Touch Screen Problem after updates windows 8.1

After some updates (automatic) the touch screen of my Satellite U920T is off : when I take a look to the computer properties, it said that the computer is not compatible with "touch screen" (something like that) and in the configuration panel i have no options about "touch and stylet". I've uninstall HID elements from the manager : the problem is the same. I have seen that the screen element is a "standard" screen VGA : i think that's not good ! i've made all updates from toshiba (officials) : nothing change ! HOW TO recover the touch screen ! for the time being my satellite U920T is like a satellite laptop and I have bought it (much expensive...) for the touch screen with windows 8 (now windos 8.1) : DOES SOMEONE HAVE A SOLUTION ???

No full screen mode after update to 10.2.152.26?

After updating Flash player to version 10.2.152.26 I do not get a proper fullscreen mode in my slideshow. The command works but the fullscreen picture is pushed on the left side of the window and not visible totally. This happens in IE8, FF4, Opera and Chrome as well. See photo below.
Everything is fine yet in another version I have on another computer (10.1.85.3). It looked like this before:
What can I do? Will ther be a fix in the next flash player version? Thank you!

I'm sorry, but it is very unlikely that all have the same video adapter - nevertheless the problem occurs at at least 5 different computers since the new flash player version.
There should be a way, without interfering with the hardware, to see the image againas before.

Blue screen flicker after security update

I just downloaded the recent security update this morning, and now about 5 minutes after starting up my macbook pro, the monitor flickers to blue for about 5 seconds or so, then flickers back to the desktop for less than one second, and flickers back to blue again. Multiple hard boots doesn't resolve the issue, but booting into safe mode keeps it stable.
I thought it might be an issue with having a Second monitor installed during the installation, since the issue didn't come up until after shutting down, unplugging the monitor and running the laptop on its own. After the second time rebooting, i pulled up the display prefs in system preferences and It pulled up two windows, one for the mbp display and a second for a display that was 1x1 pixels. I then pressed "detect displays" and it seemed to fix the problem. Then a couple of minutes later it did the blue flicker again.
I have a 15" mbp 2.2 core i7 with 8GB RAM that was purchased in june 2011 and is running 10.6.8.
Right now i'm not sure what to do next. Any help?

I struggled with the same problem when the stage is squeezed just after the Default.png disappears and after less then a sec it stretches to the right aspect ratio.
The settings I'm using:
aspect ratio - landscape
fullscreen - true
auto orientation - false
After trying different things (using other png's and other solutions people offered) I think I finally found a fair solution. You can still get a very short flicker every now and then but for example when I tested my app I opened it 20 times and received a flicker only once. But yeah, till Adobe or someone else finds a better solution for this issue I think it's the best you can get.
So it's pretty simple, just set the scaling mode to no_scale by putting this line of code on your first frame:
this.stage.scaleMode = StageScaleMode.NO_SCALE;
I'm still struggling with doing the same thing when using the document class. It seems like it takes more time till the line is fired and you'll always get the flicker for a very short time (although much shorter then before adding this line of code).
I hope it will do the trick for you. If I'll find a better solution or will find a better way to implement this solution with the document class I'll post again.

Blue screen error after updating to iOS8

After I updated my OS to iOS8.0.2...... I am getting a blue screen error again and again.
WHenever I will be using any application or opening any new application suddenly it will close with a blue screen.Then iPad restarts By itself.
PLease suggest.

Screen resolution after update

Hi, everyone:
I updated my Solaris x86 from 01/06 to 06/06. After reboot, my screen becomes mosaic. Before my update, I can login with Java Desktop. Now I cannot. I tried edit my grub to boot to single user mode. But I cannot locate kdmconfig. Is there any other way that I can get the resolution right again?

Screen garbled after update to 10.8.3

A few days ago I updated from 10.6 to 10.8.3 and now after I come back to my computer in the mornings, the screen is corrupted, or garbled. There are random boxes all over, but everything still functions if you can guess where you are pointing. Today I managed to hit sleep (rather than doing a hard shutdown) and everything was better when I woke it up. The OS update is the only recent change I have made, the only external hardware is a monitor and a Logitech keyboard mouse. Both of these things have been used from day one of getting this computer.
It is a 15-inch MBP from early 2011.
2Ghz Intel i7
8GB 1333 Mhz DDR3
AMD Radeon HD 6490M 256MB
APPLE SSD TS128C Media hard drive
I am new to troubleshooting Macs, but I have done a disc verification and been reading/searching various support documents. I just don't know what to try at this point.

While your screenshots seem to point to a faullty GPU, you may be having problems with the update from the App Store itself. Try downloading and installing the Combo 10.8.3 updater and see if that will make a difference.

BTW: I, too have a Crucial m4 SSD and 16GB of RAM in my late 2011 15" and have never had any sort of 'overheating' problem - quite the opposite - the SSD is much 'cooler' than a spinning drive.
