Screen in iTunes asking me to restore my phone when I've already restored it.

I have restored my iPhone 3gs today as had problems after updating the OS, I am using the up to date version of both OS and iTunes. Now when I go into iTunes it comes up with a message asking me to restore my phone, it's already restored! Have tried restoring it again, but still getting the same message. The phone is working ok but I can't do anything with it through iTunes, so can't download my music, etc. Can anyone help please??

iTunes cannot read the contents of the iPhone “Stefan’s iPhone”. Go to the Summary tab in iPhone preferences and click Restore to restore this iPhone to factory settings.
This is the message that appears when i connect my iphone if this helps.

you must restore i would put in dfu mode if it isnt asking to restore when you plug it in

Hi! My iTunes ask me to restore from a backup when I connect my new iPhone 5. I have done the backup process but it still ask me to do it. How do I get iTunes to understand that this is done?
I connected my iPhone and restore it from a backup from my old iPhone 4. It worked well. But when i connect the iPhone to iTunes it ask all the time the same thing.
1. this is a new iPhone bla bla or...
2. restore from a old copy. (strange is that it says that this was done 1982 all the time?!?!).
The MacBook Pro is new and I have the latest iTunes 11.0.1. (12)

Maybe you should have connected as a new phone instead of trying to put an iPhone 4 backup on an iPhone 5.
Try restoring it to factory setings and start again. If all your music and contact s are on the computer then you should be good to go.

When you use the Lion restore as described, it does a fresh install on the hard drive that you can select at the beginning of the process. This provides a complete install of the very latest version of Lion, including the recovery partition. The drive that you choose for the installation destination winds up like what you would have on a brand new computer from Apple.

ITunes asks me to set it up when I open it

More and more frequently, iTunes asks me to set up the program when I try to open it, even though it has been running on my computer for months. It usually asks me if I want to add all MP3 files etc and generally set up the program. I then have to go through setup to use iTunes. Also, when I tried to open iTunes, it told me that it needed a library and gave me options to either find an existing library, create a new one, or quit. It has never done this before. iTunes was working fine yesterday.
Does anyone know why this is happening? Could it be to do with iTunes + Vista?

Thanks for your response. As I mentioned in the original post, I uninstalled all 6 components of iTunes; followed by restarting my computer and then downloading and installing the latest version from the Apple website. No change in results.
It has been four days of living without essential information while paying an exhorbitant phone bill to AT&T for services I no longer have access to. So today, I decided to allow iTunes set it up as a new phone. I cannot tell yet if I have lost some info, but at least I have retreaved the majority of my songs, video, audiobooks, and apps. I lost some of my photos.
So, no quick fixes and I would not necessarily suggest others who have the same experience, follow my route. Although, save for photos and some missing data, I have everything else back and seemingly functional.

Just received a replacement ipad and when I connected it to my computer I followed the prompts exactly like the apple tech said. Problem is, I get to a screen prompt that asks me to restore (which he said to click) and now my screen is frozen.

I just received a replacement iPad and when I connected it to my computer I followed the prompts exactly like the apple tech told me too. When I got to a prompt asking if I wanted to restore the iPad he said to click on it. I did. Now my iPad screen is frozen on the iTunes connect screen and I cannot get out of it. An iPad shows connected in my iTunes folder, but when I run a diagnostic it says no iPad is detected.
Any help would be appreciated.

ITunes asking for nonexistent Office 2000 CD when syncing to iPhone

A friend syncs his iPhone with his PC using iTunes for Windows. After a recent update, he gets a dialog asking him to insert his Office 2000 CD-ROM shortly after connecting his phone to his PC. Presumably the sync process is generating a need for some Office component that isn't installed, but he doesn't have the CD any more. Sync seems to work even if he cancels the dialog, but it's annoying. He's syncing only email settings -- not calendars and notes. Can anyone suggest some troubleshooting steps? Thanks!

Same issue. I complete one purchase and on the next one I get stuck in an endless loop of it asking for my password over and over. I have to close iTunes, reopen and it's fine, but that is ridiculous to do for every purchase.

I had already authorized the computer to play music, so I thought this was the only authorization I needed. i went ahead and authorized my computer, Now it shows that I have 2 authorized computers! This is not a big problem as you can have up to five authorised devices.
However, if this is a problem you can go to Store, View my Account,
Deauthorize All
Then you will have to authorize your computer again.
Hopefully the number will stay as 1.

The playlists created on the iPhone should ge ttransferred back to iTunes.
iTunes used to then delete them from the iDevice (but I thought this was changed recently - last year or so) and it left the playlist on the iDevice.

It sounds like your iTunes is becoming unresponsive when you plug in either your iPhone or iPad. A number of things can cause the issue, and I have a great troubleshooting article for you to use:

Why does Facebook Farmville 2 keep asking me to install flash player when it is already installed in firefox?

My os is windows 8.1. I use firefox. I play facebooks farmville 2. It keeps asking me to install the new 3d flash player which is already installed. I've followed your steps and nothing has worked. I cannot play farmville 2 on firefox because of the necessity of installing the flash player which is already installed.

Are you using AdBlock Pro or another ad-blocking or anti-tracking technology? If so, you should try disabling it.
