Screen issue after replacement - Model CB30

Replaced broken screen on Toshiba Chromebook. After replacing the screen:
1 – Unit powers on, new screen is receiving power, but the screen is black. No image.
2 – Double check – this is NOT the screen brightness being turned down via the keyboard.
3 – System recovery - display is back – screen comes on perfectly.
4 – Setup successful.  Unit is functional. Can use it with no issue.
5 – First time you shutdown / restart the unit, the screen is non-functional. Same as
described in #1 - screen is black. No image, but it is getting power....
Really a weird issue...

I should say that the replacement was done by the apple store.  If they refuse to fix it properly, what options do I have?

  • Flickering Screen issue after Mavericks update released on Feb 26, 2014

I own a Macbook Retina display bought in early 2014. After installing the recent Maverick update released around Feb 26, 2014 the display developed flickering problem while scrolling and now the scrolling is not smooth any more. The originally shipped machine did not have this problem. I tested other software including Photoshop and the display still flickers while panning the canvas. I also tried resetting the SMC - System Management Controller but it didn't work along with other attempts of resetting the disk permissions, running a systems cleaner, changing the wifi-router etc.
How to fix this flickering screen issue?

The problem came back lately and I tried this solution and it worked. Go to system settings > power saver > and switch off the Automatic Graphic switching. Not sure if this is a good solution, but it seem to have worked for the time being.

After update to iOS8 over wifi, my iPad Mini with Retina Display is working perfectly, however I had an issue twice since yesterday. While using it, I observed the screen became totally blue (like Windows crashing) and the ipad restarted. Anyone facing such issues?

    (A) Try reset iPad
Hold down the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears
Note: Data will not be affected.
    (B) Try reset all settings
    Settings>General>Reset>Reset All Settings
Note: Data will not be affected but settings for Wi-Fi, FaceTime, Message, Home Sharing will be reset

  • SAP Query selection screen issues after ECC upgrade

    Hi all
We have a custom query created and assigned to a custom transaction code, which after upgrade to ECC 6.0 we find that the selection screen layout is different from what was available in 4.6C system.
All the fields required are available.
However, the sequence of the fields on the screen is different from the 4.6C after the upgrade.
Can anyone help identify the issue so that the issue can be resolved?
    Thanks
    Vinodh S

    Hi N_niki
There is no resolution as such.
We had raised a Customer message with SAP and were informed that this was expected as the procedure to execute the reports was changed in ECC when compared to 4.6 (technical changes) and hence this issue shall remain for some queries wherein the old changes need to be brought back using an option in the SAP Query.
Please refer to SAP Note # 723577 which could provide a better explanation for the issue.
    Hope this helps.

  • Imac g3 screen issues. (after attempting to upgrade.)

    Hello!
I was installing mac osx on my failry old imac g3. It told me that my firmware needed to be installed. So I clicked restart. When it restarted, my screen didn't show up at all! I restarted again and my screen was faint, crooked and blue. Now I can't even run my original os9!
Did I delete some kind of screen setting!?
    How should I fix this!?

For a firmware update to be applied to such a machine, the machine has
to be running/booted into OS 9.1/9.2; and support for the USB pen/flash
drive would have to be working inside the computer to import from one.
If the iMac G3 has FireWire ports, you could use a FW cable from another
Mac and use that Mac to import the firmware update into the hard drive of
the other computer; or use disk utilities of the proper type to attempt to
repair the old iMac's hard disk drive before going further. Could be not
only is the logicboard in jeopardy, the drive may also have issues.
[In some cases, a dead or weak clock battery can also be a problem in
the process of firmware updates and PRAM matters.]
The incompatibility of pre-Firmware updated iMac G3s to properly
display video is part of the symptom you get to experience in a sit-
uation where the OSX was installed (or X disc was used to boot the
computer, before firmware was updated in the running OS9 system.)
A different hard drive with the OS9 system for the iMac installed on it
with the Firmware Update on it, and put into the iMac could help in the
process; but you'd have to run the Firmware update after the computer
itself was physically installed in the drive to flash the computer's ROM
and upgrade the bootROM firmware to 4.1.9 or whatever your's needs.
A universally recorded CD-R would work in both a Mac and a PC; Mac
users have been making these for years, usually on a Mac, of course!

    There are a few different approaches to attempting to solve this;
    one company has a special process and wanted to sell something;
this following quote is someone's experience from the above link.
"...I thought, what the heck, it's good as dead already... why not try one
more thing? So, I held down the Programmer's button on the side of the
iMac while starting it up.. and bingo! It didn't shut down this time! The
screen was black, but it was up and running to some extent. I hooked up
a PC monitor to the iMac and saw the Open Firmware screen. This was
pretty exciting, until I realized that it was not accepting any input from the
keyboard or mouse. What now? I stuck my OS 9.2 CD into the slot, did
the "3 finger salute" reboot, held down the C key and prayed harder than I
have in a while.... and eureka! The CD booted the iMac successfully! I
was able to do a clean install of the OS to upgrade it from 9.0 to 9.2,
restart the Mac; then upgrade its firmware..." -- may not be repeatable.
Anyway, hopefully you get more feedback on this and a resolution solution!

  • Printer screen frozen after replacing ink cartridge

My Cyan ink cartridge was empty. I replaced it. The printer screen is stuck on the message "Genuine HP ink cartridges installed" with an "OK" at the bottom. Does not respond to pressing OK. The printer is clunking and chunking for a while, then does nothing. The message never changes. I've powered off and on multiple times. Unplugged the power cord from both ends. Tried to reinitialize software, but can't do it because the screen is unavailable for me to perform the tasks necessary. Help!? (Please)

  • Screen issues after update to Denim.

I updated to WP 8,1 Denim on my Lumia 928 just as soon as it was offered on the  phone.  Since loading Denim, every few days my screen becomes erratic, switching between apps and screens without any touch input. Only a soft boot will fix the problem until it starts again after another few days.  This may (?) also be effecting my Bluetooth connectivity as I now have also been losing connection with my truck (Chevy) that also never happened prior to this upgrade. I have switched the touch sensitivity between Normal and High with no apparent change.
The previous version(s) of WP was very, very stable without a single crash in the year since I had the phone.
    OS Version 8.10.14203.306
    Firmware Revision 3051.50009.1446.0093
I have not used the Reset Phone button yet because I don't know just how big of a hassle it would be to start all over again with a blank slate.
Any assistance would be genuinely appreciated.

I hate to reply to my own post, but there a few more issues I meant to list that I neglected to put in.
    * Touch input and screen response is slightly slower with the Denim update than before. Scrolling is slightly slower than before.
    * Automatic checking for phone updates fails, with error message stating I am not connected to the internet (yes, I am). Updates must be checked for manually.
    * Weather app will not update on lock screen or on glance screen (peek) unless I manually open the app (yes all settings are correct to allow it to run and update in the background).
I'm pretty sure that there are others I haven't yet come across.
    Thanks.

  • Touch screen issues after win 10 upgrade

Hello! I upgraded my Touchsmart 600 (http://support.hp.com/id-en/document/c02507415) to Windows 10. Everything works fine besides touch screen. It actually worked right after I installed new drivers for Graphic card, it worked really fine. After Shutdown or Restart, so after rebooting it stopped working. Now only works on login screen, strange. Whwn I log in, stops. I tried reinstalling Graphic drivers, just to see what happens, and my touch screen worked again. When I restart, again only on login screen. Awkward. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance, Hrvoje.

Similar issues here with a Pavilion TS11. Touch screen works intermittently.  Works fine immediately after booting, then randomly quits working. I started to think it was just a coincidence and a wire was loose or something was malfunction in the screen itself. It does randomly start to work again though. I hate it because so far I really like Win10.

  • Screen issues after Genius Bar repair

I had to have the ODD replaced in my 2010 27" iMac. The Genius Bar experience was, erm, an experience.
I got my iMac back today and, after turning it on, discovered what appear to be dead pixels on my screen. They definitely weren't there before I left the machine with them. From briefly looking around the web, it appears it may be (i.e. I hope it is) dust that's trapped behind the screen. Surely Apple have the equipment to allow them to prevent such occurances?
Should I demand they do the job properly, or am I expecting too much?
Had I ben told about this before hand, I might not have opted to have the ODD replaced (as I only did it because it's still under warranty).

It's just very frustrating as the Apple Store is not local, and the 27" iMac isn't the easiest thing to carry around.
The pixel anomalies weren't there before I took it in to have the ODD replaced. I expected that Apple, of all companies, would have done the best job possible. I hope it is just dust, and not newly dead pixels.
I'm sure Apple will do the right thing, but it's just such a pain to have to take it back to them again (it will be my third journey there in a week).
    Thanks for the responses.

  • Bluetooth issue after replacing CPU's

I have a G5 that recently had some work done on it. The CPU's where replaced to fix an issue with the fans running too fast. Ever since the tech replaced the CPU's the Bluetooth keyboard and mouse are sluggish. If I put the mouse more than a few feet away from the case it "stutters". The Keyboard has similar behavior. Here are the things I have tried.
    * I have tried replacing the batteries.
    * I opened it up and made sure the bluetooth card has the antenna plugged into it.
    * I have swapped the card with one from another G5 and get the same behavior.
    * I have tried deleting the devices and re-adding them.
I am at a loss here. Can anyone help?

    Welcome to Apple Discussions.
The representation that this problem occurred subsequent to the service event in which one or more processors were replaced indicates that the party who serviced it is responsible for this issue. Why are you wasting your time attempting to correct it?
Return your machine to the authorized service provider who effected the repair, explain the problem, and ask them to correct it. Do so before your original warranty, AppleCare extension or 90 day coverage for this event expire.

  • G60 laptop left without sound and bad screen issues after upgrading to Windows 8

I have a G60-458dx notebook that I just recently upgraded to windows 8.
Since then I have had no audio whatsoever, and anytime I try to wake the computer from sleep or hibernation, the screen won't turn on. To get the screen back I have to do a forced shut-down, then turn it back on.
I've tried uninstalling/reinstalling all of the relevant drivers (e.g. video, audio, chipset) to no avail. If anyone has any info on available generic drivers that would work, or updates from hp, you would make me a very happy man.
Here are the hardware id's for my audio and video.
    HDAUDIO\FUNC_01&VEN_14F1&DEV_5051
    PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_2A42

Try uninstalling the audio driver and installing this generic IDT audio driver: http://goo.gl/0IMBd
If that does not resolve your audio issue, then more than likely it is a hardware compatibility issue.

Double check DNS is correctly configured in Server Admin (SA). Also where in Workgroup Manager (WGM) are you trying to create wikis? In 10.5 (Leopard) server wikis were enabled in WGM. In 10.6 (Snow Leopard) server you enable wikis in the web service in SA or under wiki's in Server Preferences.

  • Time Machine issues after replacing HD

    Hi all,
I recently bought a larger replacement HD for my old MacBook. Last night I cloned the original drive using SuperDuper and then swapped the drives over. However, every time Time Machine now tries to backup, it thinks it's a full backup and starts deleting old backups to make room.
I've seen this tutorial on the web:
    http://www.macosxhints.com/article.php?story=20090213071015789
I followed it about halfway, then it asked me to type in "my_partition" saying "Replace my_partition with the name of the partition that you'll be swapping the UUIDs on."
At that point I got totally confused. What's the name of the partition, and when it says the partition I'll be swapping the UUIDs on, which partition is it referring to? The Time Capsule partition? I don't want to mess with the whole Time Capsule partition surely, cos that has backups from other machines on it...?
Anyway I wasn't 100% sure and I was worried I might screw something up. So I've switched TM backups off and have come to ask you guys in your wisdom how to do it
    Thanks!

Well, you're obviously more informed about the technical aspects of all this. I am just trying to confirm the easiest way to start using an added drive, not sure I want to have the whole, current back up added to the new one, anyway. It's big enough as it is. How long do I really want to trust any data to a mechanical device?
Yes, the easiest way is to just let TM start fresh on a new drive, and keep the old one "on the shelf" until you're sure you don't need anything from it.
Nor do I understand the TM backup to be a 'sparse image.' Not saying it isn't, I'd just not heard it described that way.
Some are, some aren't. If you back up to an internal HD or a directly-connected external HD (Firewire or USB), your backups are in a "normal" folder named Backups.backupdb. If you back up to a network drive, such as a Time Capsule, the Backups.backupdb folder is enclosed in a +sparse bundle disk image,+ a rather odd sort of container.
But I have also seen many threads here about the troubles people have in moving old TM back ups to a new drive.
That depends on a couple of things; it's mostly impossible to continue backing-up to the same set of backups if you change from directly-connected to wireless, or vice-versa.
But you can copy the backups from an old drive to a new one, and continue backing-up in the same way. See #18 in the Frequently Asked Questions *User Tip,* also at the top of this forum.

  • How to back up a MBA (black screen issue after update)?

    Hi,
in an other post, it was suggested that
"There are ways to back up a computer that isn't fully functional — ask if you need guidance."
I would very much like to know how to do that!
This is a 2013 MBA that has been acting up since the last update, I am able to enter into safe mode and repair the disk, that's it. Other than that I get a black screen.
My data was not saved on Time Machine, I relied on dropbox and the auto save options of Scrivener the software I use, and it's been acting up lately. So i really need to get my files back.
    Thanks for your help!

online over the phone hardware diagnosis isnt the most foolproof method , obviously.

  • Palm TX replacement unit has white screen issues even after hard reset

I hope somebody can help me find a solution.
I was a happy Palm OS user since the early days of Palm III.  After a Palm III and a V, had a Sony Clie that lasted a long time, but finally pooped out, went to a Z22 and broke the screen, then almost but not quite a year ago (in warranty, supposedly), purchased a Palm TX.  Worked great for a while but ended up with a unit I couldn't turn on or off because the power switch had died.  Worked around that by keeping the sync cord in and powering on by pushing the button and then canceling.  Finally sent it in for in-warranty repair.  Got back a new-to-me unit.
This worked fine for almost a month, then it started (with no new software or usage patterns) to have blank screen issues.  To solve this I have tried many things.  Soft resets, hard resets, leaving it to fully run out its battery for weeks at a time.  Nothing works; it continues to go blank on me.  In addition, the sound is strange and screechy when it beeps (e.g. accepting time zone after reset).  I bought the TX in the US when I was home for a visit last July, but am living in the Netherlands currently.
I contacted the Palm repair center in the UK that replaced my original unit; they said would pass on word of my troubles to Palm and Palm should contact me, otherwise to e-mail them.  They haven't.  I can't find an e-mail address for to explain all of this to anyone with any power to help me.  I have tried to use the Palm support website to solve this problem, but neither the original serial number or the serial number of the replacement unit I have now is showing up as eligible for warranty repair.  I have tried to call the US Palm support number (http://kb.palm.com/wps/portal/kb/common/article/47005_en.html#howservice), but I get "calling is temporarily unavailable."  When I click "here" when asked "If you wish to query the warranty status of your handheld, or would prefer to arrange a repair through our Technical Support service, click here" (https://www.euroservice.palm.com/repair_entry/NLD/EE) I end up on a page that says simply "Please Enter the Source Url."  I am hesitant to supply credit card information for an issue that, if it can't be covered under warranty (which I think it should be, since I'm still within the original 12 month warranty period), I may well abandon.
I am very frustrated in trying to get this fixed.  I am disappointed in the dwindling support for a PDA (that is not a phone) with Palm OS.  Since I am living (though not comfortably or well) without my calendar, address book, alarm, reader, dbs, cookbook, checklist, etc., I am seriously considering leaving the Palm OS.  My preference is to get this fixed, and my idea nearly a year ago was to ride the Palm OS until it disappeared completely (subsumed into phones anyway), but my problems have discouraged me to the point that I am wondering if this is my end.
       Does anyone have a suggestion?
    Post relates to: Palm TX
    This question was solved.
    View Solution.

    Thanks for your help!
I don't know how to tell for certain if this is a US or a UK device, but it looks identical to the one I bought in a store in Seattle, and the first five and the last two num/letters of the serial number are identical.  I do know that when I sent it in originally for the power button failure, that the Palm repair center understood that it was a Palm purchased in the States.  Their description of the goods received is "Palm TX , US and ML" so it seems apparent that they knew it was a US device and rather than refusing to repair it, they had me send it to them.  And when my repair was returned, the repair details list "unit exchange" and type of unit is again listed as Palm TX US & ML.
Well, regardless, I appreciate your pointing me in the right directions to someone who can help me.
Ironically, I am no longer having the same issues with the Palm.  The latest round of letting the power run out after a hard reset and sit for a few weeks seems to have "fixed" it.  At least, I have been trying to break it (by using it) without success.  Recharged it, synced it, checked and sent mail with it, used all the programs I used to, and I haven't had a white screen in the past few days.  Hope my luck continues, but I don't trust it.  All hail frequent syncing.
    Thanks again.
