Screen Share Multiple Accounts

Under SL I was able to connect to server ( iMac_what ever ) came up and I was able to log onto one account - switch users via login screen - unlimited number of times . . .
Now with Lion : NOPE
Both puters are running Lion - one is in Japan / one in the US as I type . . . after logging out of one user - can no longer interface and get response to log back into an account on the LOGIN screen
Anyone know a FIX ?
thanks

Did you try to reset it and make sure that automatic login is disabled on your computer?

  • Screen share: multiple monitors

    Hi all,
When I screen share via the Finder (vnc), I can choose which (or both) of my two monitors to share.
Many times, however, I screen share via iChat and only want to share the main one: does anyone know how to
"turn off" the second monitor ?
    Thanks,
    Benny.

    Hi,
If they are Using the Finder's Go Menu > Go to Server and entering in VNC://(IP Address) to get access you have the Access specified in System Preferences > Sharing > Screen Sharing.
This can be set to allow Specific People or get them to Ask you.
If they Login by this method as You they have the same Access you do. (Not only your Home Folder but any other File and folder you can access in normal navigation of your computer - includes System Folders and Mounted Drives)
If they Login as another User they get the access to your Account in a similar fashion.
You can set a Password in the Computer Settings that restricts the Control from their end (they can only see where you lead)
In iChat is is as if you logged in from a second computer. The person if they are Sharing your Screen (they get to see your Screen) they can move the mouse and Click anywhere you can go.
If you then Use Fast User Switching iChat will do whatever you have set in the iChat > Preferences > General Settings to do when you use Fast User Switching.
If this is to be Away then in theory they could be looking and messing with all your stuff while you are busy elsewhere.
(I say "in theory" as I have never actually tested this. I do know that iChat is not Logged Out. They should not be able to see where you go in the other Mac User though)
And yes, it was a totally different question

  • I recently set up multiple accounts and when I was trying to figure out how to share files I messed up something in my documents. Everytime I open a doc from the ADMIN account, a box pops up that says "The file is not in the correct format" how to fix?

I recently set up multiple accounts on my imac, When I was trying to figure out how to share the documents I must have done something wrong. When logged into the Admin account, I open up any document and I get a message box that says, "The Document could not be opened. The file isn't in the correct format. The file might be corrupted, truncated, or in an unexpected format." What did I do and how do I fix it?

Without knowing what you did it is impossible to give advice on how to correct it.
If these were files you copied over from some other system then just Re-Copy them replacing the ones that are corrupted.
Other then that I suggest you Wipe the drive and start over with a clean reinstall of the OS and programs. Then if you want to share files to All Accounts place those files in a folder in the ROOT of the drive.

  • Does video chat on the new Messager on Mac allow screen share or multiple people?

does video chat on the new Messager on Mac allow screen share or multiple people?
i noticed they said that facetime will basically be taking over video calls on the mac and that Messager will take over ichat, but i'm worried they're going to drop all the nice features they had on ichat, like being able to share screens while video chatting with someone. or being able to chat with 2 people at once on a video call.
has anyone downloaded the beta of this yet and tried it out? i'm very curious

    Hi,
You can start a Video chat with one Buddy and then chose Screen Share and providing you and the Buddy are using UPnP to open ports it will instantly convert to a Screen Share.
A Screen Share is only 1-1 and is technically an Audio Chat +
The Plus bit is an VNC connection alongside the Audio Chat.
This VNC connection uses a random port - hence the need to use UPnP to open the ports in the router (Or Port Mapping Protocol) in  Apple Base Station.
There used to be Add-ons that allowed the Desktop as Video Feed which would have been a sort of Screen Share but none of these have been updated for Lion.
An Example is iUSBCam  (ShowMacster was another - My link no longer works)
CamCamX maybe a possibility if it works in Lion  (It does say it neess iUSBCam for iChat)

  • Screen Share - Freeze when changing accounts

When I try to change change to another account on the iMac via Screen Share, Screen Share freezes. In fact, this happens when trying to log in to another account--it does not show the log in screen.
If I Quit Screen Share and then open back up, I can then see the other account or the log in screen.
    All advice appreciated.

    Ok found the problem.
As said before brand new device, when installing I choose to restore an iCloud back-up form my previous iPhone4.
Somehow, and I surely do not understand why! My new 5S not only had all my keyboards as it should because of the recovery, it also had the German keyboard? Which is not part of the recovery!
    Deleted the keyboard, problem solved.
It still is very strange I only had the German on "some" screens not all.

  • Does iTunes allow multiple devices (iPod nano) to share one account?

Does iTunes allow multiple devices (iPod nano) to share one account?

Yes, Apple are keen for you to buy as many of their devices as your pocket will support.
The Apple support document How to use multiple iPods with one computer suggests a number of ways for managing the media content. I use method two (Sync with selected playlists) with a slight twist. Rather than regular playlists I set the grouping field to indicate which users should receive which tracks and create smart playlists based on the content of this field.
    e.g.
"Alice's Tracks" is "Grouping contains Alice" + "Kind contains audio"
"Bob's Videos" is "Grouping contains Bob" + "Kind does not contain audio"
Tracks that both Alice & Bob want on their iPods have the grouping set to "Alice/Bob"
    etc.
I currently manage our family's five iDevices using this system, each getting a different selection to suit their tastes and the capacity of their device. An advantage of using the grouping field is that it is stored in file tags (for non-wav audio files anyway) so that it is relatively easy to recreate the playlists should the iTunes library get trashed and need rebuilding. Also useful if you move files about manually as playlist membership is preserved when you delete & re-import the tracks.

  • Multiple account assignment POs shows in IR screen lesser amount

    Hi Experts,
I have one query regarding Multiple account assignment POs (ex :5 pos), my user trying to post the invoice doc in this lesser amount shown in invoice document (calculated the all 5 pos amount  manaually around 10,000 INR but in invoice posting time it shows 9800 INR only). This is Frame work order po and GR is Non valuated.
Please help how we can handle this issue.
    Regards
    SAP MM

    Hi Ramesh,
Thanks for your reply, it is distributed based on % basis, i seen in pos its 99.6% shows in some line items it shows 100.1% in another line items.
I observed in  Tcode OMR6 tolerence limit for compamy code,in this the tolerance key "BR" and upper Tolerance limit 0.50% there is no lower limit.
The mentioned Tolerance key "BR"- Percentage OPUn variance (IR before GR)
I provided the workaround for  this it is to manual change the price while doing the invoice and respective diffence in price of GR/IR will be posted at month end as per programme run for variant at each month end.
Please suggest me if any thing wrong ion this, how can i suggestt o my user.
    please reply asap.

  • Screen Share on iMessage not working

I've read several responses to issues like this before.  I am sure of two things:
    1. Apple has made a pretty basic function that's been common among instant messaging services for the last ten years too convoluted.
    2. iMessage's interfacing of multiple instant messaging accounts is nightmarish and inconvenint to trouble shoot.
That being said, I'd like to make it work.  (I'd also like Apple to recognize how badly they've managed this though.)  If someone has advice that can help, I'd appreciate it.
I have set System Preferences correctly.  I have activitated Bonjour, Jabber, and Google.  I have added contacts to Buddies List.  And yet, I still cannot get non-grayed out option to screen share.
Other ideas?  Or potential Apple fixes and improvements forthcoming?

Try clearing Safari's cache : Settings > Safari > Clear Cache (and Clear History)
If that doesn't work then try closing Safari completely and then re-open it : from the home screen (i.e. not with Safari 'open' on-screen) double-click the home button to bring up the taskbar, then press and hold any of the apps on the taskbar for a couple of seconds or so until they start shaking, then press the '-' in the top left of the Safari app to close it, and touch any part of the screen above the taskbar so as to stop the shaking and close the taskbar.
A third option is a reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.

  • Multiple Account Assignments for purchase/framework requisition

    Hi,
Multiple Account Assignments for purchase/framework requisition:
The actual MM configuration is a single account assignment in the purchase requisition (although the option of multiple account assignments exist for trips). What are the implications at GR posting? Assuming that we could use the option for quantity and percentage distribution.

    Hi
    Multiple account assignment:
    <b>Specifying Multiple Account Assignment</b>
This procedure allows you to apportion the costs associated with a PR/PO item (among several cost centers, for example).
With multiple account assignment, the account assignment data entered takes the form of individual account assignment items.
    <b>Prerequisites</b>
When specifying multiple account assignment for an item, you must consider the following points:
1.How is the net value of a PO item to be distributed (apportioned) among the individual account assignment items?
The costs can be allocated on a quantity or percentage basis (for example, 10 pieces or 10% of the order value to cost center 100).
2.How are the costs to be apportioned if only a part of the ordered quantity has been delivered and invoiced?
The partial invoice amount can be distributed proportionally, i.e. evenly, among the account assignment items of a purchase order.
The partial invoice amount can be distributed on a "progressive fill-up" basis, i.e. the invoiced amount is allocated to the individual account assignment items one after the other. Only when account assignment item 1 has been charged in full is item 2 charged; only when account assignment item 2 has been charged is item 3 charged, and so on. This process continues until the total invoice value of the PO item is reached.
    <b>Procedure</b>
1.When entering an item, specify the account assignment category for the desired item on the item overview screen.
    2.Choose Item -> Account assignments.
    The account assignment window appears.
3.Enter the account assignment data for the first account assignment item.
Choose Change display to call up the multiple account assignment screen.
4.In the item fields (upper part of this screen) enter the relevant data:
    – Select the GR non-val. field to designate the GR for this item as non-valuated (as the item has been ordered for direct consumption).
    – In the Distribution field, specify whether the costs are to be apportioned on a quantity basis or by percentage.
    – In the Partial invoice field, specify whether the value of a partial invoice is to be allocated to individual account assignment items successively, whereby one is debited in full before a posting is made to another one (in which case, some account assignment items may not be debited at all as a result of a particular invoice), or whether the value of such a partial invoice is to be distributed among all account assignment items in equal portions.
5.For each account assignment item, enter either the quantity or the percentage of the total value to be charged to the relevant account assignment item.
To enter further items with the same account assignment data, choose Edit -> Repeat account assignment -> Switch on. The account assignment data will then be automatically adopted in the next item.
6.Repeat as necessary for other items.
    7.Save the purchase order.
A vendor submits an invoice for 60% of the total order value. The cost of the ordered goods is to be divided equally among cost centers 1 - 5 (that is, 20% of the total cost is to be borne by each).
If you specified for the PO item that the value of a partial invoice is to be debited to the individual account assignment items on a "progressive fill-up" basis, cost centers 1 to 3 will each be debited with their full 20% share of the total cost on the basis of this partial invoice, whereas cost centers 4 and 5 will not be charged at all. (The latter two cost centers will not be debited until the remaining amount is invoiced.)

  • Multiple accounts on one computer

How to set up multiple accounts in itunes

This is from the link John Galt gave:
"If you share your computer with other people, you can maintain separate user accounts for each person who uses the computer. This is useful especially if each user has different tastes in music or other media; users can maintain separate, personalized iTunes libraries and can customize their devices' sync settings accordingly."
Which only works if all user accounts use the SAME iTunes account. This is not what the original question was. I have 2 iTunes accounts and 1 Mac. I have 2 user accounts setup and each account uses a seperate iTunes account. The problem is since they introduced this ridiculous 90 day rule when switching iTunes accounts this no longer works. I was happily using my current acount and when I switched to the older account to download my old movies I bought on it I got hit with the "you have to wait 90 days before switching iTunes accounts" when I tried to go back to my original account.
This has broken and ruined what used to be a great system. Let me explain:
Back in 2000 when you bought a DVD you could take this DVD with you to your friends house and pop it in their player and enjoy the movie.
Fast forward to future where no-one wants shiny disc or any other physical medium you go to your friends place and log into your account and watch the movie that way. Simple easy... till the 90 day rule.
I fully understand the logic behind it (protecting their IP), but it breaks the system for legit users. Copyright has always stood in the way of progress. There isn't a single copyright protection on shiny disc that has not been broken. All that engineering effort, time and money and you can download a free app to break it.
You cannot stop piracy, just like you cannot stop thieves. You can however try and catch them AFTER the act and punish them. This 90 day rule is like not allowing you to walk into the same store more than once in 3 months in case you might have stolen something the first time you where there. It's a stupid way to prevent something that is un-preventable.
There are many ways to get around the 90 day rule for people that do want to pirate someone elses library, but it does completely block someone who is just trying to use his own purchased media in a legit way. Stupid...
I am now forced to own 2 seperate computers just to access my 2 iTunes accounts.

  • Sharing one iTunes library across multiple accounts on the same Mac

Hello, I've poked around at some of the posts dealing with sharing one iTunes music library across multiple accounts on the same Mac but it seems like this can only be done if the libary is moved to a shared folder. I realize this can be done but I was trying to share it the way it is described in a post on Apple support (See link below.). That post seemed to imply that you don't have to move the library from its original location (owned by account A, e.g.), rather just make a couple preference changes in the accounts, use fast user switching and voila. That doesn't seem to work. So my question is this: Is the only way to share one iTunes music library across multiple accounts on the same Mac to move it to a shared folder? I'm running 10.4.8 on an Intel iMac. Thanks in advance!
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93195

After reading this and several other related threads, I am becoming thoroughly confused about all of this. I have a situation similar to the one that pokerpal described in the post dated January 7 at 8:06 pm, except that the music files on my system are located on an external hard drive. Everything else is pretty much the same though - I am the admin user (and the main iTunes user and maintainer) and my girlfriend is a standard user who has no music in her own iTunes library. She can see and listen to and make playlists from and sync her iPod with the music in this library from her account, and I can do the same thing, independent of her, from my account. And if I make a change to information within a song, she doesn't see it, and vice versa, and I understand that. What I don't understand is why when I add a song or an album to the music files by importing a CD or downloading something from the iTunes Music Store, she has no way of knowing that unless I tell her, and then she can add it to her library by using the "Add to Library" function. Is there no way of automatically updating her library files to add the new song(s)? We have almost 15,000 songs and videos in that library, and I don't even want to think about what might have to happen if the answer to my question is "no." Interestingly enough, if I put an update to a Word document in the same exact location (on the hard drive), we can update that and pass it back and forth all day - why is that such a difficult task for iTunes to accomplish?
Sorry I went on so long, but this has been building up for some time, and none of the solutions I've read about here have really been of any help, so I'm a bit frustrated and, as I said at the beginning, confused.

  • How can I use screen share of my mac mini?  Problems validating

I recently purchased a mac mini to act as my home media server for audio as my airport express was not playing nicely with my Peachtree DAC.  Anyway, I have set up sharing on the mac mini and can't figure out how to connect from my wife's Macbook, or her iPad.  (I use a PC, so would welcome advice if available on how to connect across platforms as well.)  My goal is to set up the mac mini without a monitor or keyboard connected to it and have it sit with our main stereo.
I am able to connect to the mac mini via my wife's macbook IF I ask for permission and I grant it from the mac mini.  However, I am unable to connect no matter what I try if I try to log in as a registered user.  I have tried to add her as a user to the mac mini, I have tried to log in as a guest, and I have tried to log in with a password but no matter what I try, I get an authentication error when I try to log in as an authorized user.  For more clarity, here is what I have tried:
    1.  Added authorized users on the mac mini.  I created a user name for "jeff", "maureen", and "lastname_maureen" on the mac mini and provided a password for each user.  "jeff" and "maureen" are just created on the mac mini, and "lastname_maureen" is the user name of my wife's computer.  I confirmed the passwords, and still am unable to connect.  I have allowed any user on the network to access screen share, and no matter what I do I get an authentication error.  Again, if I attempt to log in from my wife's computer by asking permission, it works fine but I can't figure out how to set up an account to login.  Please help.  Thanks!

Have you tried connecting one to the HDMI output, and another to the Thunderbolt port (with the appropriate Mini DisplayPort-to-other connection adapter as needed)?

  • I'm trying to use Mountain Lion Server so my family can have separate logins via Screen Share to their iTunes.

Using Mountain Lion Server so my family can have separate logins and connect via Screen Share.
Works great, each has their own home directory and permissions are perfect.
Now setting up iTunes for each with their own Library (not shared), thus keeping multiple Libraries.
    I get this;
This Computer is already associated with an Apple ID.
If you download past purchases with your Apple ID, you
cannot auto-download past purchases with a different
    Apple ID for 90 days.
    What!
So what it is on the same computer, they are completely separate Libraries never to be mixed.
If this works, I only need to keep one computer up and running, instead of three.
Each can do their syncing/backup and connect to the various Airplay/AppleTVs I have around the house.
    How do I fix this.
    Thanks

Bottom line is you can't - easily.
You need to make sure that you log out of the server each time otherwise the ID is running. To explain, if you had a laptop with different people using it, your solution works fine. Each time someone logs in, the iTunes ID is different so it works as you can only have one person using the laptop at any one time.
Now, turning your problem inside-out, you want people to be able to log into iTunes concurrently to use their own version of the program with their own library. This does not seem to work and you get the conflicted ID error message. Even though iTunes is running under their own login ident, I have never been able to get this working reliably and was told that iTunes is NOT a network-aware application as it is designed to be single user.
The way I got around this was to login as XYZ and to make sure that the ID was changed in iTunes accordingly. However, it did not always work so I gave up with the whole thing.

  • Can my wife and I share iTunes accounts on different computers?

My wife uses an Apple Airbook, I work on a desktop PC. I've had an iTunes account for a long time and we share music, etc. So can we share the same iTunes account from our different computers?

No. iOS is not designed at this time for multiple account logins. You would be synching over the top of each other.
