Script limits?

I have a few hundred scripts in my project, and my variables are partitioned to various degrees.
The program allows for something like 124 commands per script, I believe.
I've been told that partitioning variables limits the number of commands in a script---and it would seem that's true. I guess it depends on how partitioned the variable is that you refer to in the script. Here's my question:
I have a few scripts that claim they are 1 command over the limit according to the property inspector. I was able to lessen that from 9 commands over. before I changed my scripts to have less commands, the program would not burn the disk. However, with only 1 command over the limit, it seems to play fine in the simulator and a burned (dual layer) disc seems play fine---anyone have an explanation for this--will I have problems when I send it in for replication?
Also, the limit on size of a dual layer is 8.54 --how much does the indexing on the disk take up. Some where I read that the 1st layer can only hold 3.8 to make room for the index--is that right? what about the 2nd layer? Does it have it's own index?
Thanks,
Jason

Just curious, What kind of operations were you doing with scripts when they acted unstable? I am mostly using variables to keep track of simple calculations like scores or doing 'if variable = # jump here' kinds of scripting. I'm not doing any angle, or multiple audio channels. I am using a few subtitle channels to create buttons on tracks, but thats about it. I haven't seemed to have any troubles and I've tried it on 10 for 12 different machines. But I'd like to find any machine that might make it crash, just to see how it operates. I'd like to know a little more if you've got any further thoughts. thanks!

  • Pre-Scripting Limitation: Is there a workaround?

    I have a simple pre-script attahced to all of my menus so that I can keep track of the last viewed menu. Unfortunately, since it is a pre-script, it doesn't run if I jump to a particular button on a menu. I must jump to the root of the menu in order for the pre-script to run. This renders the script less than useful.
    Is there an elegant way to keep track of the last menu viewed (when I say elegant, I mean without resorting to attaching a script to every button on every menu)? I know display conditions will run no matter which element on a menu you jump to, but I don't think I can set one up to work properly for this purpose.
    Anyone know of another approach? Thanks much.

    SPRM8 will update as you mouse over it, but it will hold on the value of the button clicked whilst the track is playing. Since you are already within the menu at the time you mouse over anything, you don't actually need to know what the last button value was, do you? That only becomes important and relevant when you want to get back to the menu from a track.
    And no, it's not the buttons which need the scripts. The buttons that look as if they are moving you to a different menu point to a script which sets the GPRM. If you are on menu 1 and go to menu 2 then that is one script. If you are then wanting to go back to menu 1 that would require another script in the method I suggest.
    However, you could script this using a second GPRM to hold both values, then start using swap arguments to get back to the correct menu (as you suggest). In my view, whilst this is possible, it is uneccesarily complex for what you are trying to achieve. I dare say there is some more simple mathematics that can be employed here, just adding 1 and subtracting 1 depending on which direction you intend going between your menus.
    Makes perfect sense to me! How many menus are we talking about here? If it isn't a great many, then simple scripting is all you need to worry about!
    There is one more way to go about this, and that is to use the DVDSP values for menus. In DVDSP3, for example, the first menu in the outline view (at the top of the stack) would have had a value of 32 attached to it. The second a value of 64, and so on. Using this information would then allow you to identify any menu in a script simply by knowing the order in the outline view. It is somewhat harder in V4 to do this as menus can get placed within different VTS, so I wouldn't recommend going that route either.
    If you use the value of SPRM8 then yes, you will always be able to get back to the last button selected, no matter what.

  • Script to STAR/STOP Oracle 11g Std.One DB on Windows Server 2008

    Hi, all
    Every friday we need backup our Windws Server 2008 ( Full backup),
    To do that, we need
    1.- 5:00pm Shutdown our Oracle 11g Std.One Database
    2.- 5:05 Launch the FULL Backup procees 5:05pm.
    3.- 5:10 Wait until the backup is finished (2 hours aprox.) in a external disk.
    3.- 7:15 Startup Oracle 11g 5 min.
    Is there any script we can use in a Windows Server schedule job, to Stop oracle at 5pm and Startup Oracle lets say at 8:00pm??
    Thanks in advance.

    Thanks in advance.Just like any scripting .. same commands you would issue at a command line .. put them in a script file. Unfortuanately, Windows, among it's various scripting limitations (vis a vis *nix) does not all the kind of input redirection needed to do it in a single file.
    Solution is something like this:
    echo shutdown immedate > shutdown.sql
    echo exit >> shutdown.sql
    sqlplus / as sysdba @ shutdown.sql
    del shutdown.sql
    exitput that in a .cmd file. schedule .cmd file

    Somewhere in your pom.xml where you are configuring your build dependancies there will be a line <scope>caching</scope> this line is configuring the build to use a flex runtime shared library. This line is generating the error because caching is not a valid dependancy scope in maven 3 however mojos uses it anyway. There was a defect opened against flexmojos; I've linked it below. Froeder's response to the issue was that it was not fixable, that the warning is expected and that we'll have to live with it for now.

  • Modeless window using "palette" does not stay up in CS5

    I am having trouble running a modeless dialog with CS5 (on Windows 64-bit).  My own script does not stay up and neither does the SnpCreateDialog.jsx snippet that  comes with the ESTK and is supposed to demonstrate modeless dialogs.  I have  tried:
    Running from the Scripts panel
    Add #target photoshop
    Being sure the drop-down menu says Photoshop, not CTSK
    as suggested in an older discussion at http://forums.adobe.com/message/3008230#3008230.  (I decided to make a new discussion as that one was marked answered.)
    It also does not stay up when moved into the Photoshop Scripts folder and run from the File menu in Photoshop.
    The relevant code in SnpCreateDialog.jsx is:
    function SnpCreateDialog()
         this.windowRef = null;
    Functional part of this snippet.
    Create a window of type "palette" (a modeless dialog) and display it.
    @return True if the snippet ran as expected, false otherwise.
    @type Boolean
    SnpCreateDialog.prototype.run = function()
         // Create a window of type palette.
         var win = new Window("palette", "SnpCreateDialog",[100,100,380,245]);  // bounds = [left, top, right, bottom]
         this.windowRef = win;
         // Add a frame for the contents.

    The advantage of a modeless dialog is that you can continue to do things in Photoshop while the dialog is up.  At least I presume so, since I haven't got one to work, including the ESTK example.
    Sorry but no, most of the Photoshop UI is disabled while a script is running even if the script displays a palette window.
    A dialog window does wait for show() to complete. That is what makes dialogs modal. A palette window does not wait for show() to complete. It runs the rest of the script.
    In the example you posted all the script does after showing the window is return true then ends. Which is why all it does is flash the window. If you put a $.sleep(1000) line before the return true line the windows will display until sleep timeouts then the script will end and the window will close. That is why with Photoshop palette windows are really only useful for progress bars or other script status type windows.
    Although palette windows may allow the user to intreact with the app UI while the window is displayed that doesn't work with Photoshop. The window only displays while the script is running and a running script limits Photoshop UI interaction.
    I have tested palette windows in CS2, CS3, CS4, and CS5 with the same results. The window only shows while the script is running.
    With Photoshop if you want the user to interact with the UI you have to create a panel.

  • NUMBER - numeric overflow

    Hi all,
    I just want to ask about the precision and scale of NUMBER datatype in SQL Developer. It seems to me, that it doesn't have default values but it's defined as NUMBER(10, 0)...
    This piece of code works fine in SQL Worksheet and SQL*Plus, but not in developer:
    variable var number;
    exec :var := 0.12345678901;
    print :var;
    VAR
    0
    variable var number;
    exec :var := 12345678901;
    print :var;
    Error report: Numeric overflowIs this a standard and expected behavior? Is there any way how to change it (some configuration)?
    Thanks,
    ivoB

    Hi Ivan,
    There is currently no way I know of to configure the output format of a bind variable for run script. I guess this is because SQL Developer does not support "set numformat" yet. It appears to assume a NUMBER(10,0) format.
    Let's change your example slightly and see what the difference is between Run Statement (Ctrl+Enter) versus Run Script (F5):
    variable var number
    column var format 9.999999999999
    exec :var := 0.12345678901;
    print :var;
    select :var as xyz, 0.12345678901 as xyz from dual;
    --Run Statement will prompt for the value of 'var', then display both bind and literal to 11 digit precision:
    Row XYZ           XYZ_1
    1   0.12345678901 0.12345678901
    --Run Script truncates or overflows the bind variable as you say, but at least it respects the "col ... format" syntax:
    anonymous block completed
    VAR
    0
    XYZ           XYZ
    .000000000000 .123456789010  SQL*Plus behaves as one would expect, depending on the value of numformat. For the decimal fraction case, it truncates to 10 digits if numformat is set to the default. Similarly, for the overflow case with a default numformat setting, it uses scientific notation:
           VAR

  • Altering row limit from 5,000 to 1,000,000

    I'm using Oracle SQL Developer Version 1.1.3. I have used the menu to get 1,000,000 rows as the result of my query but nothing appears. When I reduce that amount by a factor of 10 (but not more than 100,000), many data rows are suppressed. Please assist.SQL Developer

    Jeff Smith Sqldev Pm-Oracle wrote:
    >>Neither Oracle nor Sql Developer 'suppresses' rows
    Yes, we do - check your worksheet preferences.
    Max rows to print in a script: Limits the number of rows displayed.
    Max lines in script output: Limits the number of lines output.
    If you want a file, use the spool command and we'll write everything to the file regardless of that setting.
    Neither of those 'suppress' any rows from a worksheet query for me.
    Maybe we are talking about different things?
    I read OPs post as performing a simple query in a worksheet:
    I have used the menu to get 1,000,000 rows as the result of my query but nothing appears. When I reduce that amount by a factor of 10 (but not more than 100,000), many data rows are suppressed.
    I set both 'max rows' and 'max lines' values to 50 and exited then relaunched sql dev.
    I used a worksheet and a simple SELECT * query to select ALL rows from a table with 4000+ rows. The result window shows them being fetched 50 at a time and NONE of them are suppressed as more and more groups of 50 (my array fetch size value in preferences) are fetched. and the result window fetches them 50 at a time just like the fetch value is set to.
    No rows are being suppressed. If I do a CTRL-END and go to the END of the result set I see the end of ALL 4000+ rows - no limit of 50 and the count shows the correct total number of rows.
    I don't know if OP is doing the 'script' thing you refer to - don't know for sure. The usual thing I see is someone not seeing a particular row in that first 20/30/etc that gets returned and wondering where it is. Usually it is because they think that a query will return the rows in the same order that the user inserted them - which it won't of course.

  • SQL Developer Script Output too limited for student - how to increase?

    I'm just a student trying to migrate from notepad and SQL Plus to using the SQL Developer for the comprehensive course project. Unfortunately, the script output is way too limited... it only reports a fourth of my last assignment's results - not enough to use in the project. How specifically can this be increased. I have version 1.1.0.21 running on Windows XP on a laptop with 512k memory.
    Thanks much for any/all assist. I don't want to go back to notepad!!

    Thank you for the advice, but I had tried that. My script is 305 lines counting blank lines and the SQL developer displays only about 35 lines of results corresponding to 58 lines of input. When I run the same script in SQL Plus in a console window using the @filename command, I get the entire output.
    My input and output follow:

  • How to change script time limits in FlashBuilder 4/ error #1502

    Hy guys i have a seriusly problem, and i hope that any one to help me.
    I'm a developer GIS, and i develop a Web Mapping Application with FlexViewer ArcGIS. I have a widget that call a model that i published in REST. When i run the widget i have error #1502. I know that i change the timeout of my script, but i don't no what i do.
    In my flex compiler i have this:
    -locale en_US -source-path=locale/{locale} -keep-all-type-selectors=true
    How to change the default script time limits to 60s or higher.
    Please say me what i do

    Maybe try a binding to alter the value.

  • Script keepalive limitation with use-output option

    Hi there,
    The optional use-output keyword on CSS script keepalive allows the script to parse the output for each executed command. This optional keyword allows the use of grep and file direction within a script. You can configure a maximum of 16 script keepalives (out of a maximum of 255 script keepalives) to use script output.
    I have one application which CSS will consider it is alive only when the two keepalive (one is the tcp on port 20100, another one is the http page) are both alive. I am running out of the "16" quota when I use scipt to show both individual service alive by using grep -u Alive.
    How can I circumvent this "16" limitation.
    Appreciate your thoughts and help.
    Richard

    why don't you create a single script that checks the tcp port 20100 and the http page instead of creating 2 separate kal and another one to check the status of the other 2.
    Gilles.

  • Size script  insert with sqlplus limited ?

    Hei,
    i have a script with 600 000 insert ( thanks development lol ) and i don't want execute this script. ( 233 Mo)
    I know i must use Sql*Loader but i ask me if sqlplus is limited by the size of the script.
    I don't find in the Sql*Plus documentation.
    Anyone know this limit ?
    Thanks.
    Cordially.

    Anyone know this limit ?I doubt there is a limit. SQL Plus just reads the script file one record at a time.
    The only limit would be the max file size for your OS.

  • How do I create a script to crop the channels within specific limits defined by me?

    Hi,
    I am trying to automate processing of my channels, but as a first step I need to crop them within specific boundaries (all data at once).
    Kindly let me know any specific script commands which would help me in doing the same.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Hi Brad_Turpin,
    I have attached a sample data with this post for your reference. In the attached file, there is one time channel (X axis) and one data channel (Y axis), and I need to crop both the channels apart from 0 to 20 sec.
    I checked the syntax for DataBlDel() which is 'Call DataBlDel(ChnNoStr, ChnRow, ValNo, [ValDelOnly])'. What I understand from this is (please correct me if I am wrong), I need to input the 'row no.' and the number of values from and to which I want to delete values from the channel data.
    But the problem for using it is that the 'row no.' and the number of values I want delete may vary when I pull in a different dataset. (i.e. If you look at the attached file you can see that for this example time channels starts from -5 to 40 sec, but for a different dataset time channel may start from -10 to 35 sec. But my requirement for the new dataset still remains same, that is from 0 to 20 sec). What should I do for this condition
    Additionally, I would also like to know the best way to crop if I am having more than one data channels (lets say, I am having 5 data channels apart from the time channel and want to crop all of them from 0 to 20 sec).
    Hope I have not confused you, please let me know for further clarification of my requirement.
    Thanks in advance.

    Fazil Shah.

    One way to do this would be to have this applet install a second, timer-based applet then sets the event detector type of itself to "none".  The second applet would countdown the number of seconds that correspond to your time window, then reconfigures the event detector on the first applet to be your syslog event.  For example:
    event manager environment q "
    action 4.0 cli command "config t"
    action 4.1 cli command "event manager applet stack-countdown
    action 4.2 cli command "event timer countdown time 7200"
    action 4.3 cli command "action 1.0 cli command enable"
    action 4.4 cli command "action 2.0 cli command $q config t$q"
    action 4.4 cli command "action 3.0 cli command $q event manager applet SNMP_STACK$q"
    action 4.5 cli command "action 4.0 cli command $q event syslog pattern %SNMP-3-INPUT_QFULL_ERR$q"
    action 4.6 cli command "no event manager applet stack-countdown"
    action 4.7 cli command "event manager applet SNMP_STACK"
    action 4.8 cli command "event none"
    action 4.9 cli command "end"

  • Imposing Access Limits to Assessment Scripts

    Hi all,
    Good Morning.
    i have a set of assessment scripts designed for lead qualification, can i grant access in this way:
    <assessment script1> to one <sales rep1>
    <assessment script2> to another <sales rep2>
    i could see the assessments can either be hidden all at a time from the page layouts or restrict access via Access Profiles. Is there the possibility of making access restrictions referred as defined above?
    One more thing..
    I could find Assessment as a seperate object in the access profile, and also in lead, contact, opp related info. sections. what does the two way of settings defined reflect in the application.
    regards,
    Sreekanth

    You might want to explore as follows in cas ethe nos. of sales people are not too many.
    Try and have say the assessment filter picklist "Assessment Filter 4" field to populate the sales rep name. Then use the same values on the assessment scripts Filter 4.
    Ths approach requires lot of maintenance though.Hope it helps.

  • Is there a way to create scripts to use tmconfig...

    Is there a way to create a script to execute tmconfig and change CLOPTS parameters
    for a particular server?
    Here is what I would like to accomplish. Want to set "-r" option to a limited
    number of servers, on an as needed basis. I do not want to bring down the environment
    and update the ubbconfig file. The support people are not familiar with tmconfig.
    So, I would like to create a script to turn the "-r" option on when needed and
    restart only those servers and then turn it off once the debufgging is done.
    Is there any command other than tmconfig, which I could use to accomplish this?

    If you've got perl on your machine, you can download the tuxedo perl module and
    write perl scripts to call tuxedo services. There's also a tuxedo::admin module
    at cpan now.

    I am sorry Roopesh. ud worked with the command 'ud32 with -Ctpsysadm
    -Utpsysadm
    first time when I tried, I used our tuxedo admin id instead of 'tpsysadm'.
    When
    tried with 'tpsysadm' it worked.
    Thanks a lot.

    I tried to use a client program, similar to ud, which is developed locally

    Thanks Sccott. Using ud32 is what I should do.
    Now, I have a problem in using ud32 because the environment uses user
    authentication.
    I am not able to use ud32 due to logon failures. I am getting LIBTUX_CAT
    errors
    6311, 6247 and 6234.
    I do not know what value am I supposed to provide for "application
    specific
    authentication
    data". I think the environment variable TPIDATA stands for the samething.
    Any help is appreciated.

    For scripting, you should use ud32 to call the MIB.
