Script to find missing library references

When readline5 came out I decided to write a quick shell script to find any binary that references readline4.  Then I generalized it:
#!/bin/bash
# 2004/08/22 K. Piche Find missing library references.
ifs=$IFS
IFS=':'
libdirs="/lib:/usr/lib:/usr/X11R6/lib:/opt/gnome/lib:/opt/qt/lib:/opt/mozilla/lib/mozilla-1.7:/opt/kde/lib"
extras=
# Check ELF binaries in the PATH and specified dir trees.
for tree in $PATH $libdirs $extras
do
echo DIR $tree
# Get list of files in tree.
files=$(find $tree -type f)
IFS=$ifs
for i in $files
do
if [ `file $i | grep -c 'ELF'` -ne 0 ]; then
# Is an ELF binary.
if [ `ldd $i 2>/dev/null | grep -c 'not found'` -ne 0 ]; then
# Missing lib.
echo "$i:"
ldd $i 2>/dev/null | grep 'not found'
fi
fi
done
done
exit
I successfully used it to find readline4 usage by guile and jack, and other older library references in other packages.  Hope the devs or somebody finds it useful.  And yeah it could pull the lib dirs from ld.so.conf or search the whole system but it is quick and dirty...
PS. Without the /dev/null redirects ldd reports tons of libraries without the exec bit set.  Take it out if you want to see that stuff.

so simple and SOOO USEFULL!!!!!!!

  • "Open VI Reference" Option "Prompt user to find missing subVIs"

I am using "Open VI Reference" to dynamically load a VI. For the "option" control of the "Open VI Reference" node, I pass "0x10" or "10" in hexadecimal, which supposedly "prompt user to find missing subVIs." Nevertheless, I don't get a prompt message dialog when I intentionally pass an invalid or missing VI path. Instead I just get an Error Code 7. What does this option "Prompt user..." suppose to do?

Make sure you set the properties on the integer input into the “options” control to the “Open VI Reference” to be a Hexadecimal format (right-click on the “options” control input, select Format and Precision…, then select Hexadecimal). Now, if you re-run your VI and wire in a VI with a missing subVI, the Open VI Reference will appear with a dialog that will prompt you to browse to the missing subVI. This is exactly the same message LabVIEW displays when it attempts to open a VI and cannot find its subVIs.
I’ve attached a simple example program to demonstrate. Enter the path to the “number extractor.vi” as the VI to open. You should see a dialog prompt appear asking for the “Search 1D Array – Complete.vi”.
    Hope this helps!

  • HT1451 I am trying to restore my playlists that disappeared yesterday. I have followed these instructions but when I get to step 7, I can't find File Library Import playlist. What am I missing?

I am trying to restore my playlists that disappeared yesterday. I have followed the instrutions on the support page but when I get to step 7, I can't find File>Library>Import Playlists. What am I missing?

I suspect the menus have changeed slightly since that document was written...
    Empty/corrupt library after upgrade/crash
Hopefully it's not been too long since you last upgraded iTunes, in fact if you get an empty/incomplete library immediately after upgrading then with the following steps you shouldn't lose a thing or need to do any further housekeeping.  Note that in iTunes 11 an "empty" library may show your past purchases with links to stream or download them.
In the Previous iTunes Libraries folder should be a number of dated iTunes Library files. Take the most recent of these and copy it into the iTunes folder. Rename iTunes Library.itl as iTunes Library (Corrupt).itl and then rename the restored file as iTunes Library.itl. Start iTunes. Should all be good, bar any recent additions to or deletions from your library.
Alternatively, depending on exactly when and why the library went missing, there may be a more recent .tmp file in the main iTunes folder that can be copied & renamed as iTunes Library.itl to restore the library to an earlier state. Look for a recent .tmp file that is similar in size to the .itl files in the Previous iTunes Libraries folder. If it has happened repeatedly you may want the earliest such file generated since the last iTunes upgrade.
If applicable, see iTunes Folder Watch for a tool to catch up with any changes since the backup file was created.
When you get it all working make a backup!
Should you be in the unfortunate position where you are no longer able to access your original library, or a backup of it, then see Recover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device.
I've noticed more of these missing library posts of late and a common factor to most since I started asking is AVG Anti-Virus. It seems in some cases it might be at least part of the reason why the library file disappears. Try excluding the iTunes folder from any AV scanning process.

  • Keep having to find missing folders for network image files, although library is on local drive

I use Lightroom to store my image files on a networked drive.  Whenever I open up Lightroom and want to access the files, it keeps losing the path to the drive and folders.  I have to keep using find missing folders on all the subdirectories to see the files.  Is there something I can do to prevent this from happening each time?

What is this BSD Name: disk0s1 for that occupy 209.7MB?
That is your EFI partition and shouldn't be touched.

  • Could not find agent library in absolute path

    Hi,
I have a JVMTI agent which works on windows that I am trying to port to linux.
I have compiled to code on Ubuntu 10.04 using Eclipse and have created shared library .so file.
When I try to run an application with the agentpath argument, I get the error: "Could not find agent library in absolute path"
When trying to run the mtrace sample from the java JDK, it works fine.
    My Java version is:
    java version "1.6.0_20"
Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.6.0_20-b02)
Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (build 16.3-b01, mixed mode, sharing)
I also tried running nm | grep Agent_OnLoad and got the following:
    00029220 T Agent_OnLoad
    00036230 b ZGVZ12AgentOnLoadE4data
    00030720 r ZZ12AgentOnLoadE19__PRETTY_FUNCTION__
    00036240 b ZZ12AgentOnLoadE4data
My agent references several libraries such as boost asio and log4cxx could it be related somehow to these?
I think it might be some sort of compilation issue because on windows it works fine.
    Thanks

I managed to solve my problem.
It turned out that the error was caused by missing referenced libraries that were not linked in to my so file.
Once I added all of the required libraries, the agent started working.

  • Find Missing Files Automatically

Is there a way to make itunes find missing files automatically?

The "missing file" thing happens if the file is no longer where iTunes expects to find it. Possible causes are that you or some third party tool has moved, renamed or deleted the file, or that the drive it lives on has had a change of drive letter. It is also possible that iTunes has changed from expecting the files to be in the pre-iTunes 9 layout to post-iTunes 9 layout, or vice-versa, and so is looking in slightly the wrong place.
Select a track with an exclamation mark, use Ctrl-I to get info, then say no when asked to locate the track. Look on the summary tab for the location that iTunes thinks the file should be. Now take a look around your hard drive(s). Hopefully you can locate the track in question. If a section of your library has simply been moved, or a drive letter has changed, it should be possible to reverse the actions. I can provide a step by step guide if you give me the two paths.
In some cases iTunes may be able to repair itself if you go through the same steps and locate the lost track. It may then offer to attempt to automatically fix other broken links. This feature should work if the files are in the standard iTunes layout but on a different path from that expected by the library. Alternatively, as long as you can find a location holding the missing files, then you should be able to use my FindTracks script to reconnect them to iTunes.

  • How do I switch to an older version of my library? Itunes asked me to find the library, and I seem to have picked the wrong one.  Ive lost over 500 songs!

Itunes told me it couldn't find the library, and asked me to find it.  I apparently picked a version from years ago, because over 500 of my songs are missing, and some I deleted a long time ago have reappeared.  I see a file labelled "itunes library" from yesterday (the correct one), but I can't find a way to make itunes use it.  This screwup is costing me several hundred dollars at the moment!

I assume that this new interface AirPort Utility you are referring to is version 6.0. If that is the case you can download and install version 5.6. Both can co-exist on the same machine and I would recommend that you keep both of them. Then use 5.6 to administer the base stations for your networking requirements.

    Thanks in Advance

    I solved it,
Firs of all your domain which you are going to deploy BI Composer should extended by Oracle JRF, if you install JDev on WLS, automatically it adds those needed library.
In other hand generally any where you got this message "Unresolved application library references", manually you can find that library (sometime as .ear sometime as .war and etc.) [ you can search it in other installed domain or in internet ] , and in WLS console go to deployment and deploy it.
I hope it can be useful :)

  • New install of iTunes can't find old library

Hello, iTunes experts. I'd greatly appreciate your help.
I put a new hard drive in my computer and did a fresh install of Windows XP Pro and iTunes. My iTunes library has only a few tunes I've purchased, and the rest have been imported from .wav files elsewhere in my computer. Apparently those songs are not actually in iTunes, but just a pointer in the .xml index file.
I would like to connect my old library up to the new instance of iTunes without re-importing everything and re-purchasing what I've bought in the past.
I've followed all the instructions I could find on the web (copy the iTunes Music folder from the old hard drive to the new, change the location in Edit --> Preferences --> Advanced tab, do a Consolidate Library, etc.), but I can't seem to make the new instance of iTunes find the library, either in the new location or even the old one. But I am able to re-import songs successfully, although when I try to play them I get a message that this computer is not authorized to play them.
I'm pretty computer-savvy; this shouldn't be this hard. What trick(s) am I missing?
Windows XP Pro, iTunes 7.6.2.9, The old hard drive is still in the computer as a secondary drive and the old installation of iTunes on it still works (for now).
    Thanks very much,
    Ted

These sorts of msi-related troubles have gotten more complicated to deal with ever since Microsoft pulled the Windows Installer CleanUp utility from their Download Center on June 25. First we have to find a copy of the utility.
Let's try Googling. (Best not to use Bing, I think.) Look for a working download site for at least version 3.0 of the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. After downloading the utility installer file (msicuu2.exe), scan the file for malware, just in case. (I use the free version of Malwarebytes AntiMalware to do single-file scans for that.)
If the file is clean, to install the utility, doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file you've downloaded.
Now run the utility ("Start > All Programs > Windows Install Clean Up"). In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any iTunes entries and click "Remove".
Quit out of CleanUp, restart the PC and try installing iTunes again. Does the install go through properly this time?
(If you do find a clean download site for the correct version of CleanUp, please don't tell me where it is. Without wishing to sound paranoid (although I grant it does sound paranoid), there is a non-zero chance that posting links to download locations for the utility here at Discussions leads to that download location being shut down.)

  • Error "Could not find -Xrun library: libjdwp.so" when starting WL 6.1 in debug mode

    Hello,
I installed WL 6.1 SP4 on Solaris (trial version). The installation went well

    Hi Wayne,
I took the instructions from our WL 5.1 installation. I hope the options are still
the same (if not can you tell me where to find the correct ones?).
You were right about the LD_LIBRARY_PATH. I added the line :
    LD_LIBRARY_PATH=$JAVA_HOME/lib/sparc:$LD_LIBRARY_PATH
and now I can start the application without any errors.
    Thanks!

Since libsjwp.so is a shared object, what does your LD_LIBRARY_PATH look
    like?
    Is /products/java/j2sdk1_3_1_07/lib/sparc in it?

  • Bridge CS6 Script to Find Multiple Images in Multiple folders.

Is it possible to have a script to find multiple images within multiple folders that is on a external hard drive?
For instances I have a external hard drive assuming it's for a library of pictures.
Inside this hard drive has folders named as below
    1-1000
    1001-2000
    2001-3000
    3001-4000
If I had a perfect csv file for example that calls out for specific pictures for example 2, 10,1500 and 2000 (remember think big, it may be a larger list than this it could be hundreds or thousands of pictures); is there a script that would allow me to find these images and save a copy of them on to my desktop so that way I don't have to hunt for them in the old fashion way? I can read scripts but writing them is a different story.

If you want to go with Batch I would recommend creating an Action of more or less these steps:
    • set the resolution to the same as the background image’s
    • change the image from Background Layer to regular Layer if necessary
    • convert it to a Smart Object
    • add a Drop Shadow Layer Style to the image (do not use Global Angle)
    • place the background image (File > Place …)
    • move it behind the image layer
    • Image > Reveal All
    • make Selection from that layer’s transparency (cmd-click its icon in the Layers Panel) and use Image > Crop
    • select and transform the image layer to fit the intended position
This would naturally work out best if the images had the same size and proportions.
For the reflection on the floor duplicate the image, flip it vertically, move it in position and reduce its opacity to maybe 10%.
Realistically you may have to hide it partially behind the pillows, a Vector Mask would be an option.

  • Finding missing photos when drive letter has changed

I have over 30,000 missing photos because LR only recognizes drive letters not names.  All my drives have a master "Image" directory with folders and subfolders.  Going to the LR online directory with name change and right clicking images and finding folder location does not work.  LR does not recognize folders or subfolders in the drive with a name change.  Usually none of the folder names are high lighted. By going to the "Missing Photographs" in the catalog menu and searching by file name I can find individual files but with over 30k missing files, this approach is not practical. I have an HP computer with Windows 7 and LR 5.7.  How do I find the photos?

I think the most straightforward way to sort this out is:
    1. Plug in all of your external drives.  From the screen shots, it looks like you have at most 5 external drives of interest, 2 that are currently online and 3 that are disconnected.  (I'm not counting the one external drive letter that has just one photo on it.)  How many external drives do you actually have?
    2. If you don't have enough USB ports, order a $12 USB hub from Amazon.
    3. Make sure the entire folder hierarchy for each drive is showing in the Folders pane as described here. When you're done, each drive in the Folders pane should have a top-level folder labeled with a drive letter (as with your F: drive in the screenshot above).
    4. Expand the entire folder hierarchy on each drive in the Folders pane by clicking the arrows to the left of the folder.
    5. For each drive, find one or more folders in its hierarchy that are closest to the top that have a "?" on them.  It may be the root folder labeled with the drive letter (e.g. "F:"), or it may be folders below the root folder.   For each such folder with a "?", right-click it and select Find Missing Folder.  That folder should be somewhere on one of the drives.  Use Windows File Explorer to help find where it is.
    6. When you're done with step 5, you should have located all missing folders and told LR where they are currently located.  But you may have missed some.   Do Library > Find All Missing Photos.
    7. Pick a photo from step 6.  Right-click it and do Go To Folder In Library.  If the folder in the Folder pane is marked with a "?", right-click it and do Find Missing Folder.   Otherwise, click the "!" on the photo and then click Locate.  Use Windows File Explorer to help find the missing photo by filename, if necessary.  Repeat until there are no more missing photos.
    8. Going forward, try to keep all your external drives connected.  To minimize drive-letter confusion in the future, rename the drive letters of the existing external drives to start from the end of the alphabet, changing each drive letter as described here.   When you change a drive letter, you'll need to re-locate its root folder as described in steps 3-5.   (Windows tends to use drive letters from C onward.)

Note: I have also tried to change LD_LIBRARY_PATH (with/without SHLIB_PATH)
and I have updated my env with
    . .profile
And I When I run my Oracle App, got the following error message
Error occurred during initialization of VM
Could not find -Xrun library: libjmeter.sl
What can be the problem.. ?
    TIA

I had the same error message.
I forgot to set the SHLIB_PATH. So after reading your post, I set this variable (actually I did it in the app startup script rather than in .profile, since root has to start the app in question).
After this all worked, so I would suspect your env variable is not being applied somehow.

hi...even i am facing the same problem...can you plsssssss tell me what have you done to resolve the issue...

  • Updating/Find Missing *Drive* Query

    Good day to you all
I'm looking for a way to apply the "Find Missing Folder.." function to the actual drive. Essentially using the Drive letter as the parent "folder" to sync all subfolders and update all the image paths.
    The scenario;
I had all my photos on a local drive "W:".
They are now all on a network drive - we'll call this \\NAS\Photos (where photos is the share name on the network drive)
I can manually go through the "missing" folders from W: in the left pane of the library and "Find Missing Folders.." one at a time. This works.
However, I have about 100 folders so this is very time consuming.
The folder structure is exactly the same, what I would like to do is update the DRIVE path so I can preserve all of the LR edits.
    Any ideas?
    TIA

So what exactly are you doing....are you trying to relink one of the missing folders to the parent folder on the NAS? Is the parent folder showing in the Folders Panel in Lightroom's Library module? If it is, that's the folder you should relink to the equivalent parent on the NAS.
If, however, the parent folder is NOT showing in the Folders Panel, then right-click on any of the "missing" folders and select "Show Parent Folder"....that should add the parent folder to the folders panel, so that you can then relink with a single "Find Missing Folder" command (the ability to show a parent folder for missing folders was a new feature in LR4, you couldn't do that in previous versions).
