Scrolling of youtube flash or quicktime content ugly

I have a page with embedded Youtube and Quicktime movies. When I scroll the part of the page with this content, it moves outside of the div that it is in. I know this is also an HTML question, but since I only experience the problem with Safari, I post this question here. I have searched a lot on different forums but could not find a clear solution. I know there have been several scrolling issues with some versions of Safari, but is there a solution? Updating or restarting the browser is not a solution for me, because my client wants the page to work correctly for any Safari user. I have made two test pages here:
http://www.letman.com/testyoutube.html
http://www.letman.com/testquicktime.html
Any feedback would be very much appreciated.

After you download and install Flash Player, you need to Repair Disk Permissions using Disk Utility, and you need to make sure that QuickTime isn't trying to handle the swf files by deselecting Flash Media in the QuickTime System Preferences MIME Settings. YouTube videos are streamed through Flash so you shouldn't try to use QuickTime to view them.

  • In need of a flash/html5/quicktime audio/video media player for a website

    Hello everybody,
I'm looking to get some kind of audio/video media player for a website. I would like it to be customizable, and also most likely read a play list from some kind of text file or xml file.
Normally, I would look for some kind of flash media player, but recently the site might be read from Apple mobile devices also, which of course not flash which might be a problem, so I'm also looking into other options such as some kind of QuickTime media player web application or even html5 player.
I do not personally know how to code in flash or HTML 5, so I would be willing to hire someone to help out.
Is HTML 5 for long enough that it would play on most current browsers? I would imagine that HTML 5 might not work on older browsers–is this correct?
I don't know of any QuickTime media players - any links to get me started?
Does anyone know some solutions to this flash / apple issue?

Looks like you are getting a very good lesson in why Flash is the best choice for a Web media player.... plentilful, easily customizable, and is a "right now" solution. Good luck on getting your viewers to download and install the codex need to play an Ogg video!
To add the extra accessabilty for the iPhone etc, use swfobject to provide an alternative video file type... the .mov
Here is an example of a Flash video that plays on the iPhone (well sort of..):
    http://www.cidigitalmedia.com/tutorials/qt/play_qt.html
Using swfobject for Flash detection, if the Web browser has the Flash plugin, the Flash .flv video is displayed, if not, the QT, .mov version is displayed.
View the source code for more exact details.
If the Web browser does not have the Flash plugin, alternate content is displayed, which in this case happens to be a QT player, which displays a .mov video. In this case it's just a single video. Now maybe you have a QT player with playlist... but let me tell you.. they are a lot rarer than Flash media players with playlists, xml playlist, etc.... Strong case for Flash here..
But your alt content could just as easily hold a QT media player (with playlist) if such an animal exists.

  • FAQ: How do I create a scrolling panel in Flash Catalyst?

A common challenge in web design is finding space in the available window to display all of the necessary content. One solution is to create scrolling panels. A panel creates a well-defined container for content in the user interface. By adding scrolling content and a scroll bar, you can place a large amount of information in a limited space. To create a scrolling panel in Flash Catalyst, you need:
An object to define the panel area, such as a rectangle shape (optional)
Scrolling content, such as a long block of text or a series of images (required)
A scroll bar used to scroll the content (recommended)
Follow these steps in Flash Catalyst Help to create a scrolling panel:
    Create a scroll panel component
There are also video tutorials showing examples of different scrolling panels:

  • QuickTime Content Does Not Load When Using Safari

For the past week or so, I've noticed that when using Safari, any QuickTime content fails to display, but instead, the QuickTime logo is displayed with a question mark in the center. That would indicate to me that Safari is not seeing that QuickTime is installed, but of course, it is. I tried actually reinstalling QuickTime, but that did not resolve the issue.
Again, this has only started in the last week or so. I'm new to the MAC world, so my troubleshooting skills are more limited with OSX. I also have Firefox installed, and QuickTime content opens as normal when using Firefox.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
iMac (Intel)   Mac OS X (10.4.7)

I have had the same problem for some time now. As well as this problem, some QT movies load into QT but the sound does not play.
This all started when I loaded various other players such as VLC to run Windows Media Player stuff before Flip 4 Mac became universal. I have tried dumping prefs, turning off plug ins and a dozen other things between QT and Safari, including resetting Safarai and losing all my log ins etc.
Nothing runs on say www.youtube.com We just get the big Q with a question mark over it. The keynote address released yesterday does not play with sound.
I suggest we all look back and list what we did/installed just before the problem started and then we can compare and look for a common element.
As to checking "block pop ups" I never had that on to begin with.
We need to see if the problem is in Safari or Quicktime - or both. There are too many variables at the moment to narrow down the problem.
Our other iMac which is identical does NOT have the problem - because I didn't try to load any other software on to it.

  • Unable to view Quicktime content on Firefox

For the last couple of days, it seems as though that the Quicktime player within Firefox is not working properly. When I navigate to site with Quicktime content embedded within them, a Quicktime logo comes up and is overlayed by a question mark. I've checked the settings of the Quicktime player plug-in. I have the most recent software, and Quicktime is set as a default movie player for the Internet.
What should I do? Is there additional software that I need to load? I'm also curious if anyone else has experienced a similar difficulty. Thanks.

I had his issue with the question mark in QT too. Solved it as follows.
I unchecked the 'Flash' box in QT as described above but the movies were still not playing even though I checked my flash player on the Adobe.com web site.
After lots of searching on their support pages I got their uninstall program from http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/knowledgebase/index.cfm?id=tn_14157
    and uninstalled the flash player.
Rebooted and reloaded the flash player from www.adobe.com and all sorted now.
    Wooooooooooo Hoooooooooooooooo!!!

  • Which Tablet plays both Flash and Quicktime

Hello need some advise from you~
I am looking at a Tablet that supports both Flash and Quicktime.
So far I only know that Honeycomb 3.0 supports flash. But you can download this "Rock Player" application to run Quicktime.
On the other hand, I Pad supports quicktime and not flash.
What about the blackberry playbook. I am curiouse about its OS?
Over all I am lookign for a tablet that will play both flash and quicktime straight on the web. ex: apple movie trailer / youtube
Any suggestions? thank you very much.

I had the same symptoms and realized today that the answer was to make sure that 'Enable plug-ins' was checked under:
    Safari
    Preferences
    Security
I don't know why it was unchecked all of a sudden, but maybe this will work for you?

  • Quicktime don't play quicktime content on the internet.

I just updated to 10.5 and now I can't play any quicktime content on the internet. I can play the quicktime movies on my computer but I can't play it in any web browser. What is up. How do I install the plug-in if thats what is wrong.

These are the downloads and the settings you need in order to view/hear pretty much everything that the net can throw at you: The setup described below has proved repeatedly successful on both PPC and Intel macs, but nothing in life carries a guarantee!
It is known to work in the great majority of cases with Safari 3.0.4, QT 7.3 and OS 10.4.11. (If you are running Leopard, ensure that all plug-ins have been updated for OS 10.5)
Assuming you already run Tiger versions OS 10.4.9 or above (this has not yet been verified with Leopard) and have Quicktime 7.2 or above, and are using Safari 2 or 3, download and install (or re-install even if you already had them) the latest versions, suitable for your flavor of Mac, of:
    RealPlayer 10 for Mac from http://forms.real.com/real/player/blackjack.html?platform2=Mac%20OS%20X&product= RealPlayer%2010&proc=g3&lang=&show_list=0&src=macjack
Flip4Mac WMV Player from http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/player/wmcomponents.mspx (Windows Media Player for the Mac is no longer supported, even by Microsoft)
    Perian from http://perian.org/
Adobe FlashPlayer should first be uninstalled using the appropriate uninstaller available here: http://kb.adobe.com/selfservice/viewContent.do?externalId=tn_14157&sliceId=2 and then the latest version obtained from here: http://www.adobe.com/shockwave/download/download.cgi?P1ProdVersion=ShockwaveFlash and installed.
(You can check here: http://www.adobe.com/products/flash/about/ to see which version you should install for your Mac and OS.)
In earlier versions than QT 7.1.3 in Quicktime Preferences, under advanced, UNcheck Enable Flash, and under Mime settings/Miscellananeous only check Quicktime HTML (QHTM).
You should also ensure, if you are running Tiger 10.4.11 or Leopard, that you have downloaded and installed the correct version for your Mac of Security Update 2007-009, which also deals with the Quicktime/Flash issues you may have experienced, such as the '?'. What happened was that both Quicktime as well as Adobe FlashPlayer tried to play the Flash video at the same time. This no longer happens. (N.B. Security Update 2007-009 requires both a restart and a permission repair.)
See also the very informative post from QuickTimeKirk dated Dec 3, 2007 in this thread: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1268489&tstart=0
In Macintosh HD/Library/Quicktime/ delete any files relating to DivX (Perian already has them). However it should be noted that Perian is not an internet plugin and will not play DivX files imbedded on a website. For that you will need the DivX Player browser plugin available from http://www.divx.com/divx/mac/
Now go to Safari Preferences/Security, and tick the boxes under Web Content (all 4 of them).
Lastly open Audio Midi Setup (which you will find in the Utilities Folder of your Applications Folder) and click on Audio Devices. Make sure that both Audio Input and Audio Output, under Format, are set to 44100 Hz.
Important: Now repair permissions and restart.
You should also consider having the free VLC Player from http://www.videolan.org/ in your armory, as this plays almost anything that DVD Player might not.

  • Any tutorials on how to use the daily build of the Flex SDK to create Flash Player 10 content?

Is there a tutorial on Adobe on how to use the daily build of
the Flex SDK to create Flash Player 10 content?

The approach you take might depend on a few things, but it boils down to using mouse interactive coding to trigger whatever effect you eventually realize.  The code you use will depend on the version of Actionscript you plan to use.
You could make this as a movieclip that is normally stopped at its first frame and when you mouseover or click the movieclip, it animates along its own timeline to its enlarged state.  If the thumbnail is very small and the larger version is substantially larger, and both need to be clear images, this might be the better approach.
If this only involves enlarging something, you could also probably realize it just using Actionscript Tween coding rather than timeline animation.

  • How do I create dynamic scrolling text in Flash CS5?

    Hi everyone,
I am a complete newbie to Flash. I'm tyring to build a scrolling text box that automatically scrolls. On mouse over, I want the scrolling to stop so users can click on an item in the text box. All of the items will be tied to external hyperlinks. I want to populate the text box with an external file. I've done some searches on Adobe, but haven't found anything that takes me through the whole process.
I have the complete Adobe Master Collection. So if this is easier in Flash Catalyst, let me know. I know how to buid a manual scroll box in Flash Catalyst. Could I export this to and add the auto-scrolling?
    Remember, I'm a complete newbie.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks!

    Thanks again Kglad,
I really have no preference of Action Script since I don't have any significant experience with either one.
I'll keep doing searches to see if I can get the information I need.
    Have a great holiday.

  • Quicktime content will not play in Internet Explorer 8 or Chrome

    Hi,
So I go to the apple website to watch some ads, the iMac videos and movie trailers.
I have quicktime 7.6.4 installed and working.
I have Tunes 9.0.2 installed and working.
I have Vista 64 bit home premium installed.
Internet Explorer 8. Quicktime content will not play. Neither the Mac ads, or the iMac videos or the movie trailers. I get the message "Quicktime required. Free download".
Google Chrome. Quicktime content will play the Mac ads and the movie trailers but will not play the iMac videos although it does try to load the video but fails to play it.
Firefox 3.5.5. Quicktime content will play the Mac ads and the iMac videos and the movie trailers.
    Help.
    Thanks

Just ran into this same problem after updating Itunes and Quicktime.
Got a Ipod Touch for Christmas, and downloaded latest version of Itunes and Quicktime and installed it without issue.
Quicktime movies (Mov) play fine, and mp3's play via Itunes, but in IE8 all I get is "QuickTime required. Free download" when I try to play movies on-line, such as trailers from the Apple Movie site.
Checked the plug-in folder for IE and all the QT files seem to be there.
I have uninstalled Itunes and Quicktime, restarted and re-installed but I get the same result.
    Anyone got any clues ?

  • Convert Youtube video into Quicktime?

I am in the process of learning how to use "Keynote '09" (Version 5.3). Is there anyway to convert an youtube video into Quicktime, so that I can play the youtube video in my keynote presentation? I would not want to purchase any expensive softwares or apps for it because I do not use keynote for business but just for my community volunteer work.

Since Google seems to 'own' all videos posted on YouTube most video extractors for YouTube, once widely available, no longer work.
So your question is really moot at this point - I don't know of any way, now, to even download YouTube videos. You could always use ScreenFlow (or a similar product) to 'capture' the video and sound, but that (according to Google) would violate their terms of use for YouTube videos.
    Sorry,
    Clinton

  • Problems With Quicktime content from Apple website

    Hi
I have problems visualizing various sections of the Apple website that contains quicktime content. (Safari thinks Quicktime is not installed)
for example can't see shuffle giuded tour

or the video for the iphone os 3.0
    http://events.apple.com.edgesuite.net/0903lajkszg/event/index.html
from the safari error console i can see there are runtime javascript errors on calls to
'AC.Detector', whose result is non an object, as you can see here

    i don't know
it could be an issue with something else, maybe iTunes

same issue with 'AC.Detector' (I don't know what that is)

  • Exporting High Quality Flash to Quicktime for use in FCP4.5

I am currently working on a interactive DVD production
including various Flash animations. I've tried exporting them as
almost every possible combination of compressions I could think of
using. Every time I import any clip (although seeming smooth in
previews or as stand alone clips...in both flash and quicktime
formats), they always seem to be choppy once imported into Final
Cut Pro 4.5, DVD Studiio Pro , or Motion !!! .
If anyone could give me some advice on what would be the best
compression to use within Flash's export functions , to then be
able to use within FCP 4.5 .... it would be very appreciated ! This
is tormenting me right now !!!!
    Thx

You're probably already doing this but be sure that the Flash original files are the same image size and run at the same frame rate as the video that you want to edit into. When you export from Flash as Quicktime use the Apple none compression option. This will give you the best possible file to work with. If you don't see the none compression option you can follow this set of instructions: missing "none" compression in Quicktime 7.6.6 p... | Apple Support Communities

  • Exporting Flash to quicktime error

I am trying to export Flash to Quicktime and recieve the
    following message -
"the installed version of quicktime does not support this
type of macromedia Flash movie. Quicktime requires Flash 5 or
    before?"
I reset the settings to Flash 5 - but still comes up with the

    Thanks Jodi

I'm having the same problem. Every website I find on the
topic simply says to change the publish settings to Flash 5 - but
it's still not working. Anyone have insight? I even uninstalled my
previous version of QuickTime and re-installed the most current
    (7.4.5) - no luck.
