SCSM 2012 Notifications Re-Triggering

Hello Everyone,
I am running into a frustrating issue and could use some help! Whenever I make an update to a Request Offering for a Service Request class item it re-triggers our Service Request completion notification for all Work items that were created using that
Request Offering. The Service Request notification is set to send when the status of a Service Request changes from "Does not equal" Completed, Failed, or Cancelled to "Equals" Completed, Failed, or Cancelled, but these notifications
are triggering for work items that have long since been completed with no recent status changes, minutes after updating the corresponding Request Offering (like adding a new user prompt).
Does anyone have any insight into this?
Thanks!
Lex

I'm making an educated guess here, but I believe there are two things causing this behavior. First, do a quick test for me.
Open a completed, cancelled, or failed service request and change the description (just add "test" to the description or something..just enough to change it). Is the notification re-sent?
If the notification is re-sent, your notification criteria is probably formed incorrectly. Post it here and we'll take a look at it.
Furthermore, if that is indeed the problem, I'll give you some background on why changing a request offering can trigger service request notification subscriptions (and what you can do to avoid it in the future).

  • Deleting queued email notifications in SCSM 2012

    Hi,
We have disabled the email notification channel in SCSM 2012 and the workflows which are used to trigger the email notification were running.
Now, we need to enable the notification channel. But, we suspect that all the old emails which are queued in workflow will trigger once we enable the notification and will spam the customers mailbox.
If this is the case, how can we find and kill the pending email notifications in SCSM 2012.
Please suggest how to proceed with this.

Take a look at the end of this post, right Before the appendix:

  • SCSM 2012 R2 workflows and connectors are not triggered

    Hi All,
Suddenly in my SCSM 2012 R2 Production environment , the connectors stopped synchronising at the schedule time and the Service request was in New state for very long time (stuck in New state).
When I started troubleshooting , I saw the workflow status in SCSM console , oops!! no entries
In operations manager event log , no logs generated regarding the connector issue or the SR workflow issue .
Then I tried starting the AD connector manually , two event logs (information-LFX service) generated
    SyncBegin:Connector Id
    SyncEnd:Connector Id
    Then I stopped the services
    Microsoft Monitoring Agent
    System Center Data Access Service
    System Center Management Configuration
deleted the health service state folder content and restarted the services
Then issue is solved , the connector started syncg and the service request state changed from New to In progress and all the workflows were triggered.
Since there is no events logged for this issue , this gonna make a huge impact in SCSM environment since workflows are the key feature in SCSM .
Is this  a known issue in SCSM 2012 R2 and are there is any fix in the update rollups
Are there is any reason behind why we need to flush the SCSM health service state and how this affect the functioning of SCSM?
since we have the SCOM agent installed as part of SCSM installation and scom uses the same Health service state folder to monitor the SCSM server ??
sorry for too many questions , just to clarify my all doubts
Is there any permanent solution ?
    Thanks,
    Kalai

    Hi,
This issue seems like a performance issue. It is recommended that you schedule the AD/SCCM connectors to run when console/system usage is low since it can have an impact on performance.  You can use the following instructions to reschedule the AD connectors.

  • Exporting Recipients details from all the Notification Subscriptions in SCSM 2012 Sp1

    Hi Team,
Do we have any powershell script to export the recipients details from all the notification subscriptions from SCSM 2012 SP1. I have tried usind ChildEnumeration, but it didn't return any data. Sooner response would be highly appreciated.

    Thanks & Regards, Dinesh

Subaru, your solution is not sending the email from different domains though.  And it is initiated manually through the console.
We are looking for the ability to have subscriptions send emails from different domains or email addresses depending on queues or similar.  In my research, I think the only viable option is to use orchestrator as mentioned above and have it monitor
tickets for criteria specified.  Its a pain and a huge limitation in my opinion.
I think the bottom line is to not use subscriptions for a full loop email system.  only use it for emails that will not be replied to.

  • IN SCSM 2012 SP1 email notification duplicating

We use SCSM 2012 SP1 in our environment. We create mail notification's for incident assignment. But a mail notification for an incident under same template going 2 times.
How can we configure it like for an incident same mail go for single time not twice.
    Please help me ASAP.

    Dear Mithun,
if email notifications are duplicated, it means that 2 workflows that send emails are running on the same incident, kindly check your workflows and their criterias.

  • Manually adding AD user or Group mail address in SCSM 2012 R2 Configuration item

    Hi ,
Since in our AD environment  some of the AD user's mail Id attribute is null, I  added the
smtp mail Address value in SCSM 2012 R2 user configuration item ,
After the AD connector synchronization, the manually entered mail Id is removed. I have also checked the property
do not write null values for the property not set in AD in the Connector properties
But still , the manually entered mail id is removed by SCSM
so is it not the correct way  to add mail id manually ???
    Any suggestions???
The mail Id property is required for mail notification feature in our environment

the long and short of this is that the AD connector is behaving as designed and correcting values in SCSM from the authoritative source in AD.
The connector should not be blanking values with that checkbox set. are you sure AD is actually
Null, and not either an empty string or white-space characters? Can you reproduce this with other users? Might be worth reporting this if there is actually a bug in the connector.
Why wouldn't you set the Mail attribute in AD? there isn't any good reason for this to be null.

  • Default sip: adress when sending mail through scsm 2012 console

As the title states, if i attempt to send email to a user by using the "people picker" option in a work item, Outlook opens and writes sip:[email protected] in the adress field.
Im using SCSM 2012 sp1 and the Exchange connector 3.0. Notifications and so on seems to work but my analysts are quite furious about having to erase the first four characters before sending a mail..
Is there some part of configuration I have missed?
    Would greatly appreciate any feedback!

    Hi,
    For me all is ok.
Can you check if the SMTP Channel is ok to the SCSM user ?
You must verify this also on your Active Directory if the field email is ok.
SIP adresse is to use with Link or MOCS.

  • Incident Assigned - Workflow - SCSM 2012

    Hi,
I have recently implemented SCSM 2012 at our organisation and am implementing workflows for notifications.
I have created an "Incident Assigned to Analyst" workflow that will send a notification to the user and Analyst in question but am receiving a notification every single time the incident is updated with anything.
The logical fix would be to specificy the event criteria as follows:
    Changed from
Incident, assigned to user is empty
    Chanted to
Incident, assigned to user is not empty
... but the changed from class doesn't allow me to select the "assigned to user" property group.
... ... and on top of this, this also obviously won't trigger when an incident has changed hands.
I'm clearly going about this the complete wrong way - could you kindly advise if there is another way I direction I should be headed to achieve this goal?
    Any advice is much appreciated.
    Thanks in advance!

  • User Satisfaction Surveys on SCSM 2012 SSP

My company is implementing SCSM 2012, and I'd like to move our User Satisfaction Surveys off to the SSP. Conceptually since this is SharePoint we should be able to duplicate what we did with our original SharePoint 2007 surveys, but after re-reading the
available examples that reference 2007, I can't for the life of me figure out what I need to do to set this up on the SSP instead.
I'd like detailed instructions on doing this if anyone has them available, or can point me in the right direction at least if they've done the same.

I'm at the same stage as Marcel, my survey works, the incidentID and Analyst fields are hidden, my email notification link contains the Trouble Ticket ID and assigned to persons username:
    http://SharepointSurveySite/Lists/IT Satisfactionary Survey/overview.aspx?IncidentID=IR142&Analyst=Test User
But when I review a response to the survey, IncidentID and Analyst is undefined.
I've tried inserting the Java code where Pablo suggest above and I tried inserting it where this blog suggests, doesnt seem to make any difference at all.
    http://blogs.technet.com/b/carlospantoja/archive/2012/08/09/incident-resolution-satisfaction-surveys-on-sharepoint-2010.aspx
I have not editted the script, I gather I am supposed to "uncomment out" the setLookupFromFieldName and replace the field display name and query string name, but with what?
    setInputValueFromFieldName("IncidentID", vals["IncidentID"],
    true);
    setInputValueFromFieldName("Analyst", vals["Analyst"],
    true);
    //setLookupFromFieldName("<<FIELD DISPLAY NAME>>", vals["<<QUERYSTRING VARIABLE NAME>>"]);
EDIT: I am using SCSM 2012 SP1 and SharePoint 2010 Foundation, editting the aspx with SharePoint Designer 2010, Servers 2008 R2 SP1 and Clients Win 7 64bit SP1.

    Hi Pavel,
According to your description, my understanding is that you got an error when you set up Service Manager 2012 SP1 running on SharePoint 2013.
Please check whether you have configured SCSM and SharePoint 2013 correctly. You can check as the following link:
    http://blogs.technet.com/b/thomase/archive/2013/08/19/how-to-get-service-manager-2012-self-service-portal-running-on-sharepoint-2013.aspx
Please make sure you used the same account to instal SharePoint and Service manager.
If this issue still exists, please do as the followings:
Open Central Administration\Monitoring\Review job defintions, select the servers in the farm one-by-one , then click Application Server Administration Service Timer Job, click Disable.
Restart "Sharepoint 2010 Timer " in services.msc on all servers in the farm.
Try to install the SCSM portal.
Click Central Administration\Monitoring\Review job defintions\Application Server Administration Service Timer Job, click Enable.
Restart "Sharepoint 2010 Timer " in services.msc on all servers in the farm

  • Reinstalling SCSM 2012 SP1 -- installation fails on Finalize step "while executing a custom action:RollbackCleanup" -- absolutely stumped!

I uninstalled a previous installation of SCSM 2012 in our lab environment because the person who installed it is didn't give anyone else permissions and they weren't available to make the change.  Since then, I've tried to install SCSM 2012 multiple
times and it fails every time during the Finalize step with the error shown in the picture below.
Things I've tried and double checked:
I am running the install with a domain admin account
I'm specifying a domain user service account during install which is local administrator on the machine
    I rebuilt the performance counters
    I'm running SQL 2k8 R2 SP2
    .Net 3.5.1 is installed
I see the following message in the System Event Log during setup:
Event 7036 - The System Center Data Access Service service entered the running state.
Event 7031 - The System Center Data Access Service service terminated unexpectedly.
It has done this 1 time(s).  The following corrective action will be taken in 60000 milliseconds: Restart the service.
It appears as though this happens 18 times before the service is no longer restarted and is left terminated.
Any thoughts or help on how to get this to work would be greatly appreciated!  Log excerpts are below as well as a link to the full log file at the end.

    - I was able to resolve it using the command  line LOTCTR /R
    - And restarting the IIS service using the command line tool IISRESET
    - After this command was successfully applied I have tried to install the Service Manager Portal without any errors.

  • Trying to Perform an install of SCSM 2012 SP1 - SQL Analysis Services Not Installed

I'm performing a clean install of System Center Service Manager 2012 on a Windows 2012 server.   The prerequisite checker told me the Analysis Objects were not installed.   I clicked the link and downloaded the SQL Server 2008 R2 Analysis
Management Objects.   I restarted the install and it still says it's not installed.  I also tried installing the 2012 version of the objects and still no luck.
I also tried installing both the x86 and x64 versions of these tools.
I have also tried the same install on a Windows 2008 R2 server and had the same error.  I'm convinced this is a bug in the setup.
Has anyone else seen this?  Is it a known issue?

Try to check the log file SCSMSetupWizardxy.log under C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\Temp
perhaps it could not load Microsoft.AnalysisServices.dll assembly.

can you confirm if that assembly exists in the Assembly folder.
on a side note: SCSM 2012 SP1 supports 2008 R2 SP1 or above, and double check that the account you are using to install the SM is a local admin.

  • SCSM 2012 - Business services reporting

When reporting on business services I go to the ConfigItem Cube
When I look at the ServiceDim there is an option for 'Business Detailed Descripion'. This is always blank when I report on it.
When I set up business services in SCSM 2012 I do not see a field called 'Business Detailed Descripion' - where should i enter this information in SCSM 2012 so that I can add it to my report?
    tamrep

    Hi Tamrep,
If you open Business service in the Authoring Tool and you explore in the class properties, you will see the "Business Detailed Description" field.
But this is not by default available in your form. If you want, you can add this field with the Authoring tool to the business service form and make it available.
    Regards,
    Dennis
