SCSM 2012 portal create request permissions
Hi
I have upgraded SCSM 2010 to 2012 and installed portal.
Added Read permission in Sharepoirnt for Domain user group to access the portal.
The user is able to open the porta and see all the screens.
But when they click creat Request for incident, it gives me an error
"you dont have permission to create request. Please check with IT administartor".
I viewed in console user roles. .. End user has nt authority\authenticated User permission added.
How to provide permissions to end users for submitting requests?
regards Sundaresan.C
If i add domain\authenticated users in the Global operators group under Library \groups the user are able to access the Create request page.. is this how we need to define user permission for accessing the creating request page?
Or will this give additional permissions to users???

Change SCSM 2012 Portal Size File Attachment
Hi friends.
Im looking a way to change the SCSM 2012 Portal Size File Attachment I've been looking the solution but i can´t find it.
This questions & answers don't helped me. SCSM 2012 Portal Size File Attachment --> http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/b955d2ec-a1ad-4e50-9d4c-ad22b8a61c5d/portal-file-attachment-max-size?forum=portals
Many Thanks for your great support.
Regards.Thanks Thomas.
The problem is in the self web portal (incidents) that dont allow to upload a file that contains more than
1mb and i can't change it. i tried it as here says (console and modifyng
the web.config)
http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/b955d2ec-a1ad-4e50-9d4c-ad22b8a61c5d/portal-file-attachment-max-size?forum=portals
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ff460924.aspx
but dont work.
I want to increase the limit up to 2mb -
Some users have complained that they see to many in the My requests view and there isn't a requirement to see closed requests.
Ideally I would like them to be Listed by Status as default rather than Type and then be able to order the status as I wish - i.e. I want active alerts first, In Progress next, then resolved and lastly closed. As far as I know this is not possible with the built-in SCSM portal. Neither the Silverlight webpart can be modified nor are there any settings to configure the webpart for requirements like you described.

SCSM 2012 Portal change from http to https to get silverlight to work on non domain computers?
Hi
Wanting to change our Self Service Portal from http to https and make it accessible from non domain computers.
Non domain computers - the sharpoint parts load (the silverlight does not load). Domain computers can access the portal with no problem.
Does this mean I need to reinstall the portal or can it be changed while in operation now?
Would something like the below link be enough to get https going?
http://blogs.technet.com/b/babulalghule/archive/2013/01/10/how-to-create-alternate-url-for-service-manager-self-service-portal.aspx
Thanks!the silverlight part not loading due to SSL certification. import the certification into non domain computer will fix this issue.

SCSM 2012 Portal silverlight to work on non dom
Non domain computers – the sharpoint parts load (the silverlight does not
load). Domain computers can access the portal with no problem. I have also installed SCSM Portal certificate on non-domain machine added site in trusted site but no luck so far
Hiren TatariaThis is usually because the WebContentServer (IIS site that loads the silverlight content) is not set to use the FQDN but rather just the hostname. Domain joined machines query DNS and will receive a reply with an address just based on the hostname. Non-joined
machines do not query any DNS when just a hostname is presented, therefore no address is returned. With that said, the SharePoint parts likely load because you either have a host file or are typing in the full URL in the browser which is hitting either public
DNS or a proxy. You will need to add an entry for the web content server the same way that you did for the SharePoint site
and perform the following.
1. In IIS Manager, where the Service Manager Portal site is deployed, click on the Service Manager Portal site and select "Application Settings".
2. Make sure the SMPortal_WebContentServer_URL includes the FQDN of the web content server (can be the same server as SP or not).
3. Navigate to C:\inetpub\wwroot\System Center Service Manager Portal\ContentHost on the server that the WebContentServer site is deployed in IIS and open the web.config file.
NOTE: ALWAYS make a copy of the web config before you edit it! This will allow you to rollback if necessary.
4. Near the bottom of the file, check the key "ContentHostAbsoluteUri" and ensure the FQDN is being used there as well.
5. Once these changes are made, reset IIS.
6. You may need to add both URLs (portal and web content server) to your trusted sites on the non-domain joined machine.
Hopefully that helps. :) -
SCSM 2012 SSP Permission for End users
Hello Experts,
I have an issues with SSP - SCSM 2012 SP1.
As an admin user, I can see theOfferings, see the pending requests, can see the requests I have submitted, Approve them etc. But when I am an end user, browsing from my laptop, I see a blank Home page. I dont see the Service offerings in the
homepage..even I dont see the Need Help? text. What is the issue? FYI : Silver light is already installed on my laptop.
Interestingly, I see the Need Help? text with the same end user credential when I am opening the browser inside the server wher SSP is installed.
But, in both the cases, whether I browse in the server or from my laptop, I dont see the service offerings anywhere when i am an end user. I followed the below article..but no success.. :(

Please help...
Thanks!
ThanksHi,
Did you add the Service Offerings and Request Offerings to the Catalog Group? Here is another good blog on this you can reference:

Windows 2008 R2 Datacenter x64 SP1
SQL 2012 BI Edition
Sharepoint server 2013 Enterprise Edition
SCSM 2012 SP1

_CreateSharePointWebSite.F175D191_81C3_4A7D_A05B_6A250575B468
the error is related to Site creation and SP webparts installation.
i tried to setup just Web-Content Server and installation was finished successfully.
Please help me with the issue! very urgently
there is no honda without racingHi Pavel,
According to your description, my understanding is that you got an error when you set up Service Manager 2012 SP1 running on SharePoint 2013.
Please check whether you have configured SCSM and SharePoint 2013 correctly. You can check as the following link:
http://blogs.technet.com/b/thomase/archive/2013/08/19/how-to-get-service-manager-2012-self-service-portal-running-on-sharepoint-2013.aspx
Please make sure you used the same account to instal SharePoint and Service manager.
If this issue still exists, please do as the followings:
Open Central Administration\Monitoring\Review job defintions, select the servers in the farm one-by-one , then click Application Server Administration Service Timer Job, click Disable.
Restart "Sharepoint 2010 Timer " in services.msc on all servers in the farm.
Try to install the SCSM portal.
Click Central Administration\Monitoring\Review job defintions\Application Server Administration Service Timer Job, click Enable.
Restart "Sharepoint 2010 Timer " in services.msc on all servers in the farm

SCSM 2012 R2 Portal - Publishing Service Request and Change Request.
Dears,
Sorry for this questions, it is very basic.
I want links on how to create below things:
Create Cataloge about Services we provide such: Create VM, Delete VM, Create User and Mailbox, Add user to group
How to publish this request to Portal
Create Change request approval flow such: approve creating user and mailbox
How to publish above change request
ThanksIn addition to Thomas and regarding your assumption "I am not sure if the books help on this points":
In the
Microsoft System Center 2012 Cookbook in the chapter 5 starting on page 148 the detailed steps "how to create a request offering for a new user request" are described.
Each recipe in this chapter describes how to setup a request offering with all related components to get this done.
The recipes you need in this chapter are:
Creating Service Request templates, page 148
Creating Service Request activities, page 151
Creating Service Offering categories, page 157
Creating Service Catalog Request offerings, page 159
Creating Service Catalog Service offerings, page 167
Publishing Service offerings and Request offerings, page 176
Working with Service Requests in the portal, page 183
Creating Service Request notifications, page 187
There is only one minor mistake in this chapter on page 153:
"Unanimous (only one reviewer
needs to approve)" -> it must be "Unanimous
(all reviewers
must approve)"
I am pretty sure the recipes will work because I wrote the chapter. And sorry for the mistake on page 153! ;-)

Service Manager 2012 Portal Requests with 2 stages of information
Hello,
We are automating some of our procedures using SCSM 2012 SP1 & SCO 2012 SP1 and want to use the portal to process requests.
The issue is that when requests are made the person requesting this does not always have all (or even the correct) information to be able to run the automation jobs via orchestrator.
Using a review activity helps but if this is rejected because of a small error we do not want the requester to fill out the whole form again because of a small mistake.
What we would like to do is have a 2 stage portal process that once basic information has been entered another team can pick this up and add to and amend the information and add additional information before starting the automation process.
Please let me know if this is possible via the portal?
Thanks in advance
BobHey
This is not possible with the out of the box options. One way to go could be this:
1. First team creates a request on the portal (SR1)
2. Second team gets informed to "add" information to the request
3. Second team creates a new request on the portal (SR2)
4. Based on some logic, SR1 and SR2 are related to each other so that automation can get the information of both SRs
We have built multiple complex multi-step request with this approach and it works perfect. Bt it needs proper planning before you start building :)
Cheers

SCSM 2012 - service requests auto complete even with activities in them
I introduced SCSM 2012 on Monday at out company. I have a number of service requests templates that the service desk use.
I have seen a major fault. Occasionally when a request is raised from the template the goes straight to complete and therefore the manual activities are stuck in pending and i have to kill the activities using a powershell script. Below is a screen shot
showing an example.
THis was raised from a template the service desk use frequently. The template is ok because we have used it several times. In the example below service desk raised the template - as ever when you raise a request the system moves it from 'new' to 'In Progress'
- which is fine you should expect this - but then it automatically moves it from 'In Progress to 'Complete' - this is without the activity being completed. The activity is then stuck in pending. No one is marking the request as complete, the system is doing
it - but why??????? there are no workflows set up at all for Service RequestsHi CCOTS-KN
You can actually quite easily test this.
Create an SR from a template that has 3 Manual Activities. Once created it will progress through the 'Submitted' status to the 'In Progress' status. The first Manual Activity should also be 'In Progress'. Now complete the first Manual Activity,
then wait for the second Manual Activity to go to the 'In Progress' status. Now, put the SR 'On Hold'. Wait for a couple of minutes - until the 2nd and 3rd Manual Activities are paused. Now resume the SR. What should happen is that
the Manual Activity resume workflow should trigger before other workflows, resulting in the SR and the Manual Activities remaining 'In Progress'. If the issue is not fixed, the completion workflow will trigger first resulting in a completed SR with paused
activities.
HTH
Cheers

Hello Guys
I have installed
SCSM 2012 R2 and we are setting
support requests. Within configurations
want to see if you can relate to
requests for mail flow, for example if
a user requests an injunction to a mail
account and that the subject indicating Support Request - Notebook Failed,
it will automatically create a request
in SCSM.
Thanks for your help.
SebastianIf I get your requirement right the SCSM Exchange Connector should help:

SCSM 2012 R2 -Portal Opens with Full Content on Portal Server but not for other Machines
Setup:
SharePoint 2010Sp2 installed onto a Server, it uses a Remote SQL DB for SharePoint. Both WebContent Server and SharePoint Webparts are installed onto one computer. Both websites are using the exact same certificate that is registered as computer.domain.com
Scenario
When I open up the Https://computer.domain.com:444/SMPortal from the actual Portal server logged on as myself, the Prortal Completely shows everything, and does not ask me to logon, and correctly has
the certificate. I can also access the Settings.xml and see it in IE.
The issue is that when I use any other computer, logged in as myself again, it prompts me a few times and then shows me the portal, but none of the Silverlight functionality works, it has the same certificate and is valid, but it has is an empty window
where it should show "Need Help?". Silverlight is installed. Also, I cannot access the Settings.xml from another Computer in IE.
Any ideas where to start to figure this out?
David BaurFixed it...This was an SPN issue where I had two instances of the SPN for the Self Service Portal.
How to Check: reference
http://blog.scsmsolutions.com/2012/11/configure-the-kerberos-for-scsm-2012-spn-and-delegation/
On the Self Service Portal open an elevated command prompt and typed in:
SetSPN -Q HTTP/servername.domain.com
This returned both a HTTPS and HTTP for the same server. (We need to remove the Non-Https one)
To remove the Non-Https SPN I typed the following:
SetSPN -D HTTPS/servername.domain.com DOMAIN\SMService (<-Use the Service Manager service account as the name)
All Fixed for me.

SCSM 2012 - creating incident fro email - description issue
Hello, I have SCSM 2012 RTM and I am trying to use out-of-the-box create incident from e-mail functionality.
It is working but I have issue with description field of created incident- it comes with the last part of the eml file.
Description field of Incident looks like :

Content-Dis; filename="winmail.dat"
Content-Transfer-Encoding: base64 .....
I can not use Exchange Connector because I can not install SP1 for SCSM 2012 - Service Manager databases are on SQL 2008 - which is not supported for SP1 for SCSM 2012.
Any help is welcome.
Best regards,
DubravkoThanks for your reply, but my Service manager databases are on consolidated SQL 2008 SP2 cluster.
SQL 2008 SP2 is not supported for SCSM 2012 R2. Because on that SQL 2008 SP2 cluster are also other bussiness databases which has some compatibility issues I can not do the upgrade to SQL 2008 R2.
Best regards,

SCSM 2012 R2 Portal Installation is not able to detect SharePoint SQL Instance
Dears,
as in the subject I am trying to Install SCSM 2012 R2 Portal, I have done with prerequisites, and I have got the SharePoint from this link:
http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=24983
I have done with SharePoint successfully, SharePoint installed Parts are:
When I am trying to install SCSM 2012 R2 Portal, it fail to detect SQL with below message:
So please how to solve this issue? If you run the installation of SQL Server via Sharepoint 2010 Foundation preparation tool it should be SQL Server 2008 Express with SP1.
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc288751(v=office.14).aspx
The preparation tool installs the following prerequisites:
SQL Server 2008 Express with SP1
So this could be the reason why the SCSM SSP installation wizard is struggeling with the SQL Server.
You should check the installed SQL Server version on the server. If needed install a supported version of SQL Server.
Andreas Baumgarten | H&D International Group
Well, this is the reason, unsupported SQL Version.
I upgrade it to SQL 2008 R2 SP1 Express, and it is working now,
Many thanks
