SD - Sales BOM unusual business scenario

Hi Experts,
I would like to know is that possible that in SAP to create the the BOM highlevel (mother) material number with no quantity needed (this particular material number always zero qty)? which means that the BOM highlevel material number used as a dummy material code for reporting purposes.
1) created a sales BOM with material A and child materials are A1 and A2
2) MM master MM01 already maintained item category to ERLA
3) VA01 sales order creation BOM able to explode
4) highlevel(mother A) line item with material number shown BUT without qty in order qty column.
5) 2 sub items (child - A1 and A2) exploded A1 - order is qty 1 and A2 - order qty is 1
6) SO document SAVED. SO number #123 created.
7) VL01N with reference to the SO number #123.
8) PGI done ,able to issue A1 and A2 respectively reduce the inventory with qty 1 each.
Vice versa for return sales order
1) user return the material A entered in SO. (regardless of return partial A1 only or A2 only / fully return A1 and A2 ) SO must able to be created #987.
2) VL01N with reference to the RSO #987. Based on partial or full return, the inventory increase is based on sub item(child level - A1 / A2), the high item is ZERO.
3) If child level sub item A1 return qty 1 then system increase the A1 qty balance.
Thank you.

Yong Kok Wah

Hi Yong

  • 3rd Part Dropship Scenario with Sales BOM

    Hi
We have a 3rd Party Dropshipment scenario with Sales BOM with susequent Debit
    Characteristics of Sales BOM
    Sales BOM is created
Header Material is Valuated but non-inventorised (Accounting and costing view should exist)
Component Material is Valuated and inventorised
In Sales order, Pricing is done at the header material not at the components level
During Billing we get the COGS for the header material (cost coming from VPRS)
No VPRS exist at component level instead we have copy of VPRS just to capture the value in COPA for our reporting
    Process
    1. Sales Order created with Sales BOM exploded in sales order.
    2. At the Item level Purchase requisition is created.
    3. PR for the components is converted to PO
    4. Vendor Delivers the components to Customer.
    5. Statistical GR done in our system.
    6. Invoicing is done in MIRO
    7. We directly do the Billing. Billing is created at header level. Revenue and COGS is reported at Header level only.
We are stuck when we are doing the Subsequent Debit (can be for any unplanned cost). For Susequent Debit we are not able to report differential COPA at header level.
Normally whenever you do subsequent debit in case of 3rd party dropship for normal material, COPA document automatically attached to Billing. This is happening because of the behaviour of VPRS condition type. In our case VPRS only exists at header level and not at component level but replenishment is for components. Subsequent debit is also happening at component level. We need it to be reported at header level.
We need some solution to this.
    Please advise

    Hi Raj,
Please clarified your requirement here, you mention that you wanted to valuated COGS at actual cost of PO? That sound more like actual costing here and what is the reason for this requirement?
Is this MTO with variant configuration?
If this is MTO with VC, Yes - we do cost Sales Order and here is the brief steps:-
    Price Control S
    a) Sales Order Creation - Normally when you save this will be costed and marked automatically. Note that condition type EK02 will represent the cost here
    b) Run MRP based on Sales Order requirement which resulting planned orders, PR, etc
    c) Convert PR-PO, Planned Order -> Production Order
    d) Confirmations, GR on PO which valuated according to the SCE Costing in step a)
    e) PGI will be based on the GR value on step d) which is also your SCE Costing
    f) Any variance between PO and SCE need to be settle.

  • Issue of Components from Sales BOM where user warehouse is defaulted

In 2007A, where the warehouse is different at row level for the parent item, the component items do not default to the same as the parent, and no warning message is produced. SAP say this is system behaviour as the components are shown on the form and can be changed in the form. In 2005A an Assembly BOM was used which would generate a warning, but no new Assembly BOM's can be created in 2007A. The warning is now only generated if the warehouse is changed in the table area of the form settings window.
However, I believe they have not allowed for the use of the user defaults in this case.
The purpose of the user defaults is to take away from the user the possibility of transacting an incorrect warehouse by accident. In order to control stock properly this is essential from a business process and a "best practice" perspective.
The user is set to default to the warehouse they have access to, then the form settings are turned off for the warehouse so they cannot issue from other warehouses.
If this is the case (as it is for all of our customers who have many branches) then they cannot update the child items to issue from their own location, and have no visibility that there is a problem until stock taking time.
The purpose of a sales BOM is to allow for a sales process which requires assembly of several items at the point of sale, The most likely scenario in this instance then is that the child items will be in the same warehouse that the sale document is being recorded in, this should be the default position for the marketing document.
The only workaround appears to be that a Sales Bom is required for each item for each warehouse, thereby increasing the size of the Item Master.

THe issue is the same via the DI - add a sales BOM with a different warhouse to the BOM warehouse & the components are issued from the BOM warehouse, not the intended warehouse

  • Business scenarios for daily, weekly and nightly loads!!

Can any body tell some Business scenarios for daily, weekly and nightly loads where we monitor the loads in Production support.
    Regards
    srikanth.ch

    Hi,
It all depends on your business needs. In general on daily basis you will load the SD and MM which will cover all the stock and sales done for day. Generally most of the clients use Lo Cockpit extraction for both the modules. FI chains will run on month end for example the AP(Accounts Payable),AR(Accounts Receivable) chains will be run on the month end.
Some SD datasources : 2lis_13_vdhdr, 2lis_13_vditm, 2lis_13_vdkon - all these to pull billing related data
    Some MM Datasource : 2lis_03_bx and 2lis_03_bf.

  • Use of Sales BOM to force ATP against Bulk Material?

    Background:
Our business was recently acquired, and we have migrated to the parent company's R/3 system.  In our previous MRP system (R/2), we planned, produced, and shipped a single bulk Material ID in Trucks, Rail Cars, Flexi-Bags, and Iso-Tainers.  In the new system, specific Material IDs are now required for each of these modes.  However, we do not store the inventory in these modes, nor do we wish to plan at this detailed level.
    Considered So Far:
Initial suggestion was to use A.T.O. to look through a BOM and automatically create production orders for each customer order. However, this seems to add additional complexity that we do not really need, and makes changing order dates more challenging (have to move both the order and the accompanying Prod. Order).
    Desired Outcome:
Order is entered and priced based upon the mode-specific Material ID, but inventory is relieved from the Bulk material.  In our previous R/2 system, there was a field on the material master called "Std.Prod." which stood for Standard Product Link.  We used it for synonymous products where we produced and inventoried under one name, but sold under several different names.  The customer materials were set up as type SALE and referenced the inventoried material, set as type FINI, in this Std. Prod. field.  Thus, at the header level, the user saw the SALE material, but for planning and at the batch level, the system showed the FINI.
    Options?
I am told that, due to the amount of custom coding and user exits surrounding outputs and interfaces to EDI and other external systems, the use of Material Determination would require too much testing and potentially too much development work.  But, is it the best / correct solution to the problem?  Because right now, I don't have the ability to perform ATP against the inventoried Material, so nothing confirms.  Would the use of a 1 to 1 Sales BOM offer anything different?
    Many Thanks in Advance,
    J.P.

    Hello JP
Material Determination (MD) works with Consignment orders, only you need to assign a MD procedure to the requisite sales document type in config ( TO code OV14). Product substitution, which is a specialized form of MD, makes use of special item cats like TAX and TAPS or TAPA and TAN for main and substitute items respectively, but you can always make copies of them and use them with consignment orders also in conjunction with item category usages like PSHP. PSEL, PSA1 and PSA2. There could be resultant issues, but unless you test you won't know them all.
Your second question about 'Sale would go against the finished good (Truck / Rail material) while the production costs go against the Bulk', brought a new realization in me. You are ordering, pricing and delivering Truck or Rail materials, but those requirements have to be converted to Production orders for bulk material, so from a Sales and Distribution (SD) point of view you  don't need anything extra, therefore work with you Production Planning (PP) consultant to convert the requirements at  PP end?? May be without resorting to MD or BOMs in Sales, you can work with your PP consultant and with standard config or custom development, you may realize your desired outcome.
Also as long as cost is maintained in the sales Material (Truck for example)  with due regard to the additional costs in converting Bulk to truck, you should be fine. Follow the example below:
Standard cost of 1 ton , say X, is stored in Bulk Material master.
Now if there is no additional cost and you just load the bulk material into a truck and if a Truck is 10 ton, then Truck material would have 10X in its material master for cost.
But if there is some other material  and/or  labor involved in converting bulk to Truck and their cost is y, then you will have (10x+y) in your truck material. Also it is worthwhile to capture the additional cost in the Production/Assembly order via components and operations.
Your problem is not insurmountable, but you need to assemble a team of SD. PP, MM and CO experts to design an integrated solution for you.

  • Sales BOM in the billing document

    Hi,
We have a scenario where a Sales BOM needs to be processed as a third party sale. The requirement is to have the Sales BOM header relevant for generating the PR and PO. However, when the invoice document is created, the components of the sales BOM need to be exploded in the resulting billing document.
Is there a way to have a BOM explosion on the billing document ?
    Appreciate your inputs.

  • Terms of payment - how to cover my business scenario

    Dear experts,
I am dealing with the following business scenario.
A Sales rep proposes to the client a term of payment made up od several partial amount; for example let assume 3 partial amounts.
The Rep proposes to the client a fixed date, representing the date of the first payment that the client has to do and the installments.
For instance, the client's first date of payment is 1st february and then 1st march and 1st april.
1st february is determined on the M/AM billling data set as 30 days after actual billing date
    Issue:
If the actual billing date is not equal to the planned billing date, the result is that the client has to pay the first partial amount in a  date different fronm the one agreed with the Rep.
Is there any way in SPRO in order to link the installment to other dates rather than to actual billing date? (i.e. planned billing date, custom date field)
    Thanks in advance

    Hi Kalyan,
...how to do automate start for a process in CE7.2...
Create a new message event trigger and a new service interface(WSDL) in the process composer and link the service interface to the event trigger. Now assign the event trigger to the start event of your process as message event.
On deployment, the EVENT TRIGGER you created is exposed as web service (can be verified in wsnavigator). Execute the web service to automatically start the process. You could have a web dynpro application to execute the web service on click of a button.

  • Sales BOM - Allow to delete individual components on Marketing Documents

At the moment, we are not allowed to delete the individual component on the Marketing Document.
I faced a scenario that some client need to substitute a higher value component if there is insufficient quantity of a cheaper value that can be delivered. Currently they have to ship out the higher value component and ship in the lower value item to increase the quantity on hand before cutting the invoice. This involves three steps which can be reduced to a single step if i first defined a Sales BOM with all possible alternatives and let the user decides which item to be shipped out and delete the lines which are not shipped out.
Of course, you also have to take into consideration during version upgrade, that it should not be looking at the BOM anymore to pump unnecessary lines into OINM.
    Thanks

  • Sales BOM inventory and COGS

    Hi all
If a sales BOM is on an AR Invoice, I want to hit COGS and inventory of its components, not of the parent item. This used to be the case with an earlier SAP 2007A release. However, when we upgraded to a new patch 35, this has changed. Now when a sales BOM is sold (AR invoice), for some reason it doesn't hit COGS of its components, but of the parent item.
    For example
    Sales BOM ABC123 consists of
    item 1
    item 2
    item 3
When ABC123 is sold, it should hit both inventory and COGS of item 1, item 2 and item 3! Not of ABC123
Is this some sort of a setting in SAP that can be changed? Thanks!
    Simon

    Hi Simon
I am on PL37 of SAP Business One 2007A and tested with a Sales BOM that has 2 children items. One is set at Warehouse level and the other at Group level. The COGS posted correctly for both children to their respective COGS accounts.
Are you using Warehouse or Item Group level account determination? Also check which warehouse/(s) the individual children are posting from on the Invoice.
    Kind regards

  • Configuring business scenario "Quote to cash"

    Dear All,
This is regarding configuring business scenario "Quote to cash" for Industrial machinery product. In Material master (mm01) tab for Sales:general plant we have assigned serial number profile.
During GR for the order, we are creating serial numbers automatically. The user has a specific requirement of prefixing the serial numbers.
For example he wants the serial numbers to have a prefix 'Mach' i.e. Mach01, Mach02 and so on.
Please help me with the configuration details for meeting this requirement of the customer
    Warm Regards

    Hi.
These prefixes are constant or it is depends on plants or depends on material type..

  • Avoid printing child items of Sales BOM in AR Invoice

    Hi All,
I have a requirement to edit the print layout of AR Invoice to see only the parent item of the Sales BOM in SAP 2005.
In SAP 2007, there is an option to Hide BOM Components in Print Out but how do I avoid printing child items in SAP 2005.
    Please advise.
    Thanks for your help!
    Regards,
    Payal

    Hi Payal,
As a definition of B1, the children of the Sales BOM will always be shown in a marketing document.
However, we can change the template to hide them from the printouts. Please kindly follow the steps as below:
Print template editing for removing child items of Sales BOM
1.Add a new Text Field with Text 'I' in the Repetitive Area. ('I' is the attribute for child items)
2.Add a new Data Field in the Repetitive Area as below:
a)In the Content tab, chose Table A/R Invoice # Rows and Column BOM Type
    3.   Add a Formula in the Repetitive Area as below In the Content tab, chose:
          i.Source Type: Formula
ii.In the Formula Editor, insert Field 1: the newly created Data field
          iii.Operation: !=
          iv.Field 2: the newly created Text field e.g. Field_316!=Field_315
4.Set the three fields added as Invisible, in order to set it as invisible, please uncheck the Visible box  under General tab
5.Set Link to Field on the General tab of every field in the Repetitive Area (Row Level) to the exclusive number of the newly created calculation field.
6.Double-click the Repetitive Area to open Repetitive Area Property, Check Area Height Adjustment box under Format tab to hide the blank lines.
7 Save template and set as default, print preview.
You will find that the row number is the original, not successive, number. It is better to hide the row number field.
    I hope it shall help.

  • SAP crm implementation business scenario for crm  marketing project

    Dear guru's
Can any body will help me to know about one sap CRM  marketing implantation project business scenario.
Like one full process of marketing project and the integration of the other modules like r/3,
Like what end users do if we implanted the marketing project for one company,
Any industry but please give me detailed with the documentation if possible.
I practice with the best practice but iam not able to the comparison to the business process of the company.
No need to tell about company details I want  to know only the process.
Like which type of company it is suet or which type of company it is not sute.
If there is any document like this type of company sauté for the marketing and like this type of company suites for the service modules like that.
this  is sivaanjith this is my  please help me to come out of this confusion.
    Reards.
    siva anjith

    hi
well talking about the implementation project in CRM
let us assume we are implementing it in BANKING industry
here the requirement is in improvement in the field processing and all the effeciency of the sales or feet on street
so we implement the CRM marketing with CIC
what it will do that we start with first the readiness document that what all are the requirement of the bank and how the company can cope it with the help of CRM
then we prepare the BLUEPRINT to state that the data to be processed will be strucutured in CRM in how many phases or the timely schedule of the roll over of CRM in bank
next up we start with the configuration ,like we have to start campaigns and generate leads for the banks which may get converted into the opportunities
so have to do all the configuration of CRM according to the requirements being given
one thin g i forgot which is very imp is that we do requirement gathering, its pretty imp part of entire process
after getting these only we can do whatever we want with CRm
so after that we realise the configuration in realisation phase then we do those UATs and SITs
this way we phase out the CRM in any sector
    just a gist of everything
    hope i cleared some air
    best regards
