SDM unapply support stack and deploy lower sps

Our portal sits on nw2004s java stack only (700 and support stack 11).  Would like to rollback sps 11 and apply sps 10 so that it matches our BW ABAP support stack level.  Is this possible to rollback the java stack support stack level?
The thought is to use SDM to undeploy all components, select all sps 10 components (SCA's) and deploy.
Would appreciate any comments in regards to this, is this the corrrect procedure or even possible?

Hi,
The SDM is one of the options to choose for undeploying an application. But I basically prefer using the J2EE Engine's visual administrator tool (it is more intuitive in my opinion). Here's how to deal with it:
1. Start the tool using the go.bat located in \usr\sap\<SID>\<Instance Name>\j2ee\admin folder
2. Log in with an Administrator user.
3. Under the Server node click Services-> Deploy.
4. In the runtime tab, on the right hand side screen click on the Applications checkbox. The list of all deployed applications appears.
5. Select the application and click on the Remove button.

Undeploying using SDM
You can also undeploy the application using the SDM tool. Launch the tool by running the remotegui.bat from your usr\sap\SID\JC00\SDM\program. Enter your sdm password and then go to the undeployment tab. pick the application you want to undeploy and add it to the right hand pane and follow the steps in the wizard
Check this official SAP link for deployment and undeployment details.

  • SDM password when running and deploying webdynpro application

    Hi
I developed a simple webdynpro application, no eventing just displays text. I rebuild it and then 'run and deploy' application. While doing this it pops up with a dialog box asking for a SDM password.
    Is this deploying correctly?
    Any assistance is much appreciated

    Hi Dajee,
Yes it is deploying correctly. Give sdm as password it sould work if you don't have changed the default password of SDM.

  • [OSB and OWSM] - External Web service stacks and frameworks

Hi everyone ! I'm starting to read about OSB and OWSM and I'm having some doubts. I've some developments of Web services with external Stacks like CXF, JBossWS, Metro and I'd like to ask some questions:
1- Will I be able to productively leverage all features of OSB and OWSM like creating a proxy service to add WS-* standards policies and features (WS-Security, for instance) even with these web services implemented in different stacks other than Weblogic's ?
2- If it is possible, do these web services need to be deployed at the Weblogic server to enable the OWSM and OSB to work effectively ?
3- Even if it is possible to use the OSB and OWSM nicely with webservices developed at external stacks and deployed at other application servers is there any reason to quit using these external web service stacks in favor of Weblogic's (like features only enabled on OSB/OWSM when the services use the Weblogic stack) ?
I suppose that if I ignore the JAX-WS stack from Weblogic and use an external framework (like CXF) I'll lose most of the application server administration capabilities since the Weblogic server won't be able to recognize the CXF stack as it does with its own. But, the main doubt I'm in is, since OSB and OWSM might be used with external providers I probably won't need to develop my web services using the Weblogic implementation (which my team does not yet know) since there will be no features of the OSB and OWSM which can only be used with the Weblogic's stack. I would like, please, to know your oppinions about these considerations. Sorry about the long post and possible errors (I just started learning).
    Thank you!

    Hi Lupan,
I can speak mostly to OWSM as my experience with OSB is small thus far.
+1- Will I be able to productively leverage all features of OSB and OWSM like creating a proxy service to add WS-* standards policies and features (WS-Security, for instance) even with these web services implemented in different stacks other than Weblogic's ?+
OWSM (10gR3) has two types of policy enforcement point (PEP) -- Gateway and Agent. The Gateway acts as a remote proxy and is neutral to the service implementation technology as long as it adheres to SOAP 1.1. In this regard you can use OWSM freely with CXF, MS implementations, etc. Agents run in-process with the service and thus have far greater restrictions on what service implementation frameworks and containers that are supported. There is some certification for AXIS 1.x running in OAS and Tomcat; but practically speaking, my recommendation for Agents is to only use within OAS 10gR3 where it is built in (and using OC4J Web Services through JAX-RPC).
OWSM 11gR1 initially supports only agent-style (in process) PEP and is built-in to Fusion Middleware and WLS. It is only for Fusion and WLS Web Service implementations.
OWSM is quite full-featured for WS-*.
+2- If it is possible, do these web services need to be deployed at the Weblogic server to enable the OWSM and OSB to work effectively ?+
"No" if using OWSM Gateway PEP. A qualified "Yes" if using OWSM Agent PEP.
+3- Even if it is possible to use the OSB and OWSM nicely with webservices developed at external stacks and deployed at other application servers is there any reason to quit using these external web service stacks in favor of Weblogic's (like features only enabled on OSB/OWSM when the services use the Weblogic stack) ?+
There is the manageability that you mention, but also there is the identity propagation scenario and tight security integration. Both OAS and WLS hosted services in the native stacks (JAX-RPC and JAX-WS) allow sophisticated and secure passing of identity in the request -- for instance, via SAML Assertions in the WS-Sec header -- and built-in capabilities to map the passed identity into the running service's Subject (i.e. enabling JAAS security etc.).
In my experience this type of identity propagation functionality has either been absent or less complete in other typical implementation frameworks not closely aligned with the container security mechanisms.
    Hope this helps,
    Todd

  • Setup and Deployment Error

    hello

I'm not sure, but I suspect Visual Studio 2013 Express doesn't support Setup and Deployment.

  • FPN - Producer and consumer support stack synchronication?

We have BI portal as a producer portal to a consumer portal (corporate portal). Both are on support stack 13 at the moment. We need to apply support stack 14 to the BI portal. Do we need to apply the same support stack to the consumer portal? Is there support documentation that contains this information?
    Thanks.

    Rich,
We were on SP13 on both CP and PP but we ffound at least one problem when we upgraded BI PP to sp14 and CP is still on SP13. I am not certain that this problem is because of SP synchronization but I do suspect. We are looking at patching CP to SP14 and see if the problem dissapears.
Yes, as per SAP both CP and PP can be on different SPs.

  • ABAP and Java Stack: Which to choose/supported standards and components?

    Hello,
I am trying to understand the role of the two stacks in NW. Maybe anyone has a few
hints where I can find answers to the following questions:
    - An overview of supported Standards (Java 5 since when?)
    - An overview of which component runs on which stack? Portal->Java, Integration Server->ABAP and so on.
    - Guidelines when to install both stacks and when to use just one stack? When do I use which one?
    - Has SAP an stategy towards an one Stack solution (possibly Java?)
Best regards and thanks for any pointers!
    Stefan

An overview of supported Standards (Java 5 since when?)
    Go to service.sap.com/pam
Product Availability Matrix will tell you about supported version and platforms.
An overview of which component runs on which stack? Portal->Java, Integration Server->ABAP and so on.
Usually the question goes the other direction: what stacks we need for implementation of a particular function?
More and more products require ABAP backend and Java frontend.
For example Employee Self Service has been transerred from ABAP only ITS based to ABAP backend and Java frontend.
    Same with SRM.
Guidelines when to install both stacks and when to use just one stack? When do I use which one?
Same as above, driven by business requirements, not technology.
Has SAP an stategy towards an one Stack solution (possibly Java?)
No. Core business functions are still being developed on ABAP and interface, GUI etc utilize JAVA.

    Slava

  • Support Stack

    Hello,
I am having difficulty deploying the latest support stack to the discovery system using SPAM.  At first, tp.exe was having problems connecting to the database but this was due to the erpadm user not having write access permissions to the file system.  When I resolved this, I then encountered an error that the environment variable dbms_type is not set when in fact it is set as a user variable for erpadm.  When I run tp.exe. from the commmand line and try connecting to the db (tp.exe connect ERP), it states that the SAPEVTPATH is not set.  But, if I explicitly tell it which profile to use in the command line (tp.exe pf=D:\usr\sap\trans\bin\tp_domain_erp.pfl connect ERP), it connects without error.  Any ideas?
    Thanks,
    Greg

    Hi!
You cannot apply the SPS as a 'Stack' without the .xml-File. As a workaround for your situation you could try to pseudo-download the SPS from the Service Marketplace (meaning you navigate through the required steps but never actually download any files) and generate the .xml-File there. This should work if the fileversions you have on the CD are exactly the same as you would download. If there are differences in versions or so you might have to edit the .xml-File.
It may be quicker to work without the .xml though. In this case you would patch JSPM itself first and then apply all the other patches.

    Jörg

  • Whats the difference between ABAP stack, ABAP+Java stack and Java stack

    Hello,
I have a nagging doubt about the difference between the ABAP stack, ABAP+Java stack & the Java only stack. I believe that the method of applying the kernel for all the 3 types is different.
Also can we apply the ABAP support packs through JSPM.
Please put some light on this.
    Thank you

    Hi Zaheer
    ABAP Stack
AS ABAP is used to provide the ABAP foundation of SAP NetWeaver.
Part of AS ABAP is the Search Engine Service (SES), which enables users to search for
business objects using Search and Classification (TREX). SES accesses Search and
Classification (TREX) functions through the Search and Classification (TREX) ABAP
client. SES replicates the business objects from the ABAP application to Search and
Classification (TREX), so that it can apply Search and Classification (TREX) search
functions to them. When a user enters a search query, the Search and Classification
(TREX) system responds to it, not the database for the ABAP application. For more
information, see the document Installation Guide – SAP NetWeaver TREX Single Hosts /
    Multiple Host.
    Java stack
AS Java is used to provide the Java foundation of SAP NetWeaver. Among the key
    capabilities of AS Java are:
    • J2EE Engine – a J2EE 1.3-compliant application server for running enterprise
applications. In addition to the pure J2EE standard technologies, the J2EE
Engine implements complementary technologies, such as Web Dynpro or Web
Services, that are targeted at supporting large-scale, real-business application
    development projects.
    • SAP Composite Application Framework Core (CAF Core) is a service-oriented
architecture for building and deploying composite applications. It enables
modeling of different service types – entity services that represent a domain
model, application services that implement business logic, and external
services that offer connectivity to back-end services by means of remote
function calls (RFCs) or Web services. Usage type AS Java comprises the CAF
Core runtime environment, while design time tools are part of the SAP
    NetWeaver Developer Studio.
    • Web Dynpro is the user interface technology for developing professional
business applications for mobile as well as for desktop clients. Web Dynpro
applications can easily be integrated into SAP NetWeaver Enterprise Portal,
providing a unified layout for the end user as well as enhanced navigation
support. Web Dynpro also allows, for example, the development of interactive
forms using the Adobe document services.
    • Adobe document services is a set of runtime services that provide a range of
form and document creation and manipulation functions such as:
    • Converting XML form templates (created using Adobe LiveCycle Designer)
to PDF and various print formats
    • Setting Adobe Reader rights to enable users to fill in and annotate forms,
save and print them locally, and include digital signatures for authentication
using the free Adobe Reader software
Extracting data from SAP applications into Interactive Forms and transferring form data
back into SAP applications using XML
    ABAP + Java Stack
    Contains both functionalities.
    I hope this helps

  • Doubt about JAVA stack and ABAP Stack

    Good day!
Hope can help me with my next doubt. I understood that BI JAVA or JAVA has been embedded in the Java support package stack for portal. But for BI7 the installation for JAVA is by sps. We only use pure support package for BI7, we don't use support package stacks and we don't use JAVA. I'm not sure because i don't made the sap installation in our enterprise, how can i be sure if we have installed java in BI7 and if we don´t have installed, should I install Java in our sap system? what are the benefits and consequences if I decide install it? and what is the difference about BI java (portals) and JAVA stack for BI7?
I try to find some information but I found some information  about bi Java for portals, but not for BI.
    Ramón Sánchez

    Hai,
BI-7.0,JAVA:BI-Java is used to provide the Java runtime for scenarios such as Enterprise Reporting, Query, and Analysis as well as Business Planning and Analytical Services.BI-Java requires AS Java and Enterprise Portal Core and EP in the same system. Optionally, you can combin with other usage types in one system. Usually, scenarios running on usage type BI-Java also require usage types BI and AS ABAP. While installing BI-Java, AS Java, EPC and EP get installed automatically. Usually, when running on usage type BI-Java also require usage types BI and AS ABAP, you should be aware that no matter if you run BI and BI-Java in the same or in separate systems, both BI and BI -JAVA should be kept in sync in terms of Support Package Stacks.
BW 7.0 is now called as BI 7.0. There are many differences between them in areas like extraction, EDW, reporting, analysis administration, etc.,
    http://www.ittestpapers.com/articles/987/2/SAP-BI-70-Features/Page2.html
Advantage of having Double stack Instance: Where AS ABAP provides the complete technology and infrastructure to run ABAP applications and AS JAVA provides Java Enterprise Edition environment for developing and running Java programs.

  • Difference java stack and abap stack

    hello experts,
Difference between java stack and abap stack

    Hi
    ABAP Stack
The application data in the SAP system is accessed in
the ABAP stack via platform-independent ABAP programs.
ABAP stack is used to run ERP applications mainly MM,SD,FICO etc
Currently in most of the installation you can found mixed stack(ABAP+JAVA)
    JAVA Stack
The Java side of the SAP Web AS is often referred to as SAPWeb AS Java or
    as the Java stack.
This central SAP Web AS Java instance consists of two separate
instances plus one special application, the Software Deployment Manager (SDM).
These two separate instances that build the central SAP Web AS Java instance are
a standard SAP Web As Java instance, offering a Java dispatcher process and one
or more Java server processes and the so-called SAP Central Services instance
(SCS). The SCS instance offers two processes, exclusively used by the Java side
of the SAP Web AS: the enqueue services and the message service. These two
services only work for the Java side of the SAP system.
Java Stack is mainly used for SAP Portals and you can host Internet/Web based application written in JSP/EJB ,Java Stack uses Java Threads to run application,
    Also, Xi requires Double stack
    ABAP + JAVA Stacks
Bcoz some components are developed on JAVA
Some components are developed on ABAP Based.
    JAVA:
    Integration Builder
    SLD
    Adapter Engine
    Runtime Workbench
    ABAP:
    BPE
    Integration Engine
Integration Engine and the Integration server reside on the ABAP Stack. All the Execution of the IS part will be done on ABAP Stack. we can monitor the processed XML messages also in SXMB_MONI( ABAP Stack)
Adapter Engine will reside on the JAVA Stack. All the IR, ID, SLD, RWB Application are developed on JAVA Stack, so thats why we need JAVA Webstart to run these Applications
All the Adapter related Errors we can see in RWB, Communication channel monitoring( Developed and sits on JAVA stack)
    Hope this clears your doubts
    Thanks
    Saiyog

    Hi Dhiyadav,
thank you for your reply it cleared some doubts that were in my mind but i need your more support to guide me a converged access deployment which i am going to deploy within few days.
    i have
    2x5508 in HA as MC
30x3850 switches, and all will be used as MA(s) with multiple SPGs
2X5508  1:1 as an anchor controller
    1xISE 1.3 for guest access
1xCPI for wireless mgmt and monitoring purpose
1xMSE3355 with wips and context aware licenses
    200x cisco 3702i WAP
50x WSSI module for monitoring the channels
can you please put a light on the design and guide me that which are the best possible solutions to get this job done very smoothly.
i will also let you know about my proposed design scenario but for sure i need your recommendations as well :)
    so,
i will use 2x5508 wlcs in HA as a MC which are AP-Count and HA licensed..
3850 switches will be MA and i ll configure SPGs per floor switches stacks
WAPs will join on these 3850 MAs base on each floor
i would have 2 ssid like employee and guest
i will configure them on each 3850 stack MA along with their SVIs for users access like (empolyee and guest ssid)
here my question is for guest ssid and its vlan... do i configure it here or on anchor controller???
i want ISE to be integrated with wireless for employee 802.1x and for guest web Auth. so, how i will integrate ISE with wireless. i mean weather i will integrate it anchor controller or with each 3850 MA???
between foreign and anchor controller i will use new mobility instead of old EOIP!!!
where shall place ISE in my network, in DMZ or with Core switch?
my target for guest users to do not have access to any corporate network sources ?
    MSE:
can i use both wips and context aware on the single MSE box?
if yes, than what is the best practice for configuring them?
are each 3850 MA will be added in MSE?
WSSI module . will be used for monitoring purpose for wips and context aware profiles.
all access point will be worked in local mode for serving users access.
    thank you

  • Solution Manager 4.0 Support Stack 9

Support Stack / Support Pack 9 of Solution Manager has been called an Enhancement Pack or Feature Pack by SAP.  This means it includes new functionality.  Two new features that I have been able to identify are the Maintenance Optimizer and the "Synchronize system data with SAP Support Portal" tab of SMSY.
Has anyone found some sort of release notes for the Enhancement Pack so that I can find out what other new features were deployed as part of the stack?

    Hello Steven,
You can find the requested set of support package stack news on the SAP Service Marketplace page, quicklink /solutionmanager -> Media Library -> Technical Papers, document called: "4.0 Support Package Stack 9"
Alternatively you may use the following link to directly access this document:
    <a href="http://service.sap.com/form/sapnet?_SHORTKEY=01100035870000538663&_SCENARIO=01100035870000000202&_OBJECT=011000358700006487392006E">http://service.sap.com/form/sapnet?_SHORTKEY=01100035870000538663&_SCENARIO=01100035870000000202&_OBJECT=011000358700006487392006E</a>
The correct term for this development package is "support package stack" with the respective stack numbering as outlined on the front page of this slide.
I hope this helps in finding the requested information.

  • SDM has not calculated any deployment actions

    Hello Colleagues,
i want to install an Microsoft JDBC 1.1 driver for the JDBC Adapter Engine.
After modifying the "aii_af_jmsproviderlib.sda" with required informations and adding "sgljdbc.jar" file i tryed to import the sda archive file at SDM but i got following error:
SDM has not calculated any deployment actions.
    Possible reasons.
All selected archives have already been deployed before in the same or in a higher version.
I found an import under SDM Repository "com.sap.aii.af.imsproviderlib 3.0.320040609110635.0000"
    What is to do?
Perhaps new version? How can i do it?
    Many thanks in advance!

    Hi Chilla,
the problem was related to a not correct selected radio button during SDM deployment.
You have to slect "Update deployed SDAs/SCAs that have any version" under tab "Deployment" during deplyoment.
Please look up on Page 4 at HowTo Guide "How To Install and Configure External Drivers for the JDBC & JMS Adapters" http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/howtoguides
