If you have the latest model of Fifth Generation iPod, you can access the Search function by by navigating to: Music > Search from your iPod's Main Menu.
If you have one of the older Fifth Generation iPod models, then read ahead:
As far as I know, you cannot upgrade the firmware for your Fifth Generation to 1.2, or something later, to add the Search function to it. (At least, that's what they did with the nanos, and I'm pretty sure that's what they did with the Fifth Gens as well).
I honestly doubt that Apple will, after introducing new iPods with search functions now 7 months and 12 days ago (yes, the date is permanantly engrained in my head , would bother to let users upgrade their old iPods to have such a function.
They haven't done it yet for 7 months, thus I tend to doubt that they will.
Also, it's always going to be about getting the newest and latest thing if you want the newest and latest features with Apple products. If you get the newest iPod, sooner or later, you will be "outdated".
But, nonetheless, you could let Apple know about your ideas, since someone is guaranteed to read over your ideas, if you submit a feedback note on their Feedback form for iPods:

I have submitted a bug report to ProBoards, but they cannot duplicate the problem I am having, so I am submitting this here in hopes you can find a solution.
At ProBoards Support and another PB forum while doing searches I found this problem, which continues with repeated testing over the past week or so:

1. enter perameters for the search (posts only by staff for the last 2 days)
2. choose one of those post results & click on it (choose a post on page 14 and not on page 1 of the results)
3. using the browser back button, attempt to return to the previous page of search results
4. rather than being taken back to the search results with my parameters, the search parameters have been removed and the page show 1000 results of posts by everybody.
I have tested this over and over again, disabling plugins, and nothing seems to alter the malfunctioning of the back button when I am doing this search function at ProBoards.
I have tested it in Internet Explorer and find that in IE the browser back button works properly with ProBoards searches. I always get the result I expect, so it's a problem with how FF interfaces with ProBoards, I think.Many site issues can be caused by corrupt cookies or cache. In order to try to fix these problems, the first step is to clear both cookies and the cache.
Note: ''This will temporarily log you out of all sites you're logged in to.''
To clear cache and cookies do the following:
#Go to Firefox > History > Clear recent history or (if no Firefox button is shown) go to Tools > Clear recent history.
#Under "Time range to clear", select "Everything".
#Now, click the arrow next to Details to toggle the Details list active.
#From the details list, check ''Cache'' and ''Cookies'' and uncheck everything else.
#Now click the ''Clear now'' button.

Search funtionality across multiple folios
Is it possible to create a search function that will work across multiple folios within a custom app shell?

This type of search is a standard part of MEI Portico. Through use of Portico, you can create keyword search for folios and even create links to individual articles or pages based on a search of the text within the relevant article/page. This is in addition to other storefront/homepage and direct entitlement capabilities that we enable through our integration with the Adobe Enterprise APIs.

Mail and mail search horrible since 'upgrade' to 7.5.2
no idea what cat i'm dealing with. went from 7.2.x (might have been 11, can't remember) to 7.5.2. this whole feline thing is beyond me , like going to starbucks and being supposed to order a vente. i get large.
getting used to the new offerings on search (which i imagine they think are better, i'm dubious). the problem is, while they help you narrow in they circumscribe your choices.
if you are looking for ralph waldo emerson but might have emails with and without his middle name it doesn't just allow you to populate the 'from' search with "emerson". it insists on offering you a specific person, and if the mail program has not identified these multiple personalities as one entity then you have to search each individually.
ditto for the subject search. it offers you very specific subjects but suppose i just want to find a word in the subject and not a specific subject title?
although generally it offers you the less helpful option to choose entire message which, many of my searches aren't even offering that option anymore. maybe that is because it doesn't see those words in any email but i know they are there. it often skips over emails that i know have the required word in them or in the subjec. This is just driving me crazy.
may be some kind of an indexing problem but i have no idea how it indexes or searches.
i tried the rebuild command and that slightly improved results but did not fix the fact that it ignores some emails that have the search indecie in them. and itt simultaneously threw away my last three weeks of emails. they are still out there on my providers server, but i can't get it to repropagate into the email program. when i check mail it just gets new mail but not the mail sitting there that it does not have. maybe it put it somewhere and still has it, or maybe it informed my email provider that it had already downloaded the email to this computer so it won't do it again even though there is no version of that email currently in my inbox.
and i'm not sure what else it did. i used to have 89000 emails in the count showing next to my inbox in the left column (although i'm never clear if that number was the total or the unread) and now I have 49000 although i don't notice any other date range or obvious category of missing emails, who knows.
I used to think that mail kicked *** for keeping track of and finding emails in this large archive. i'm always looking back to things i ordered 3 years ago to order them again, etc. it has just been abyssmal since the upgrade. i have occasionally pushed my onboard memory because this is an Air with 64MB storage. I'm using 64 GB low profile cruzer "fit" usb memory for all my documents and i have plenty of space on there but no idea if i could move the target email folder off the internal HD and tell mail how to find it. This would help prevent my occasional low memory issues.
in any event, never had these troubles when i was running 7.2 . Didn't even know it would 'upgrade' ???? Mail when I got the later version because some program said it would not run with 7.2. Mail is only the half of what i hate about 7.5. But it is today's problem so i'll try to keep my bellyaching on one topic.

briansearch does not find messages that meet the criterion. it finds some but not others. i haven't been able to detect a pattern.
the search funtion itself has been kludgy from the get go with this update forgetting the learn curve for the 'improvements'
sometimes it won't even let me put a search in for entire document.
i've tried "rebuild" command and that got me a few more results but not complete and lost 3 weeks of email somewhere. (it is a recent 3 weeks, still on the server of my mail provider but i can't get the program to repropogate it.
basically it hasn't been sound since i upgraded a year ago and i've just been living with it but it is really getting intolerable when i need to find emails i know exist and it can't find them. better handling of large volumes of mail is one of the reasons i use the mac in the first place.

Search not working in HTML Help
We are working in RobHelp for Word 6 on a very large legacy
project. The source material consists of 25 large Word documents.
Using MS Office Word 2003 to edit the source documents.
We produce output in HTML and Web Help formats. In the HTLM
(a single .chm file) the search funtion does not work. A tiny
window pops up titled Help with the message "No topic found." The
index function works fine.

Photoshop CS5 is a failure / inability to search forum for solutions
Well, since the search funtion doesn't work for the forums, I'll just have to post my problems and see if anyone from Adobe is listening, haha.
Photoshop CS5 creates repeating 1 to 2 pixel thick lines through images in pdfs when I rip them open. You've gotta be kidding me.
Photoshop CS3 does not do this with the exact same pdfs.
Photoshop CS5 does not allow me to view changes in layer image adjustments before commiting to the adjustments, requiring me to use the "history" to work backward as I am making changes to all 4 colors in a CMYK image. You've REALLY gotta be kidding me.
Photoshop CS3 allows me to view changes, and look at what I had before the changes, merely by clicking the "preview" button on and off, before committing to the changes. A beautiful feature for anyone adjusting the color of an image, which, i would think, is the number 1 reason for using Photoshop in the first place.
These are 2 MAJOR FLAWS after using the product for only a few days. It's no wonder I waited for over a year before upgrading.
So far, the only thing that is an improvement over CS3 is that it quits faster.
Thank god for that and good riddance.
I am a prepress professional and will NOT be recommending this product upgrade to my fellow users. One can only guess at who was attending the meetings where someone from marketing said, "Oh, how can we change something that works fine and justify an upgrade?"It's straight out of a Dilbert cartoon.

Re: No Android Search for Corporate / MS Exchange Email? TouchDown / other apps?
If you go into your inbox, you should have a magnifying glass at the bottom along with the new mail icon, folder select, refresh and options. The magnifying glass will let you search your emails. Not sure why the main Google Search function will not search emails, but I have used the search function from within my Corporate Exchange Mailbox. The search is not perfect, but it seems to search within emails, subject lines and email addresses.
Hope this helps.I am on a VZ Galaxy Nexus stock version 4.0.2. I do have the magnifying glass when I am in my corporate email account connected to my exchange server. Strange thing is I just checked my two hotmail accounts that are set up as corporate accounts so I can use push for those, but neither of these accounts have the magnifying glass.
I checked the settings for each account, but dont see any differences. I will keep searching to see if I can identify why the one account has the search funtionality but the others do not.
Long story short it is available, just have to determine what causes the difference. -
Add web search function to website
I need to add a web search funtion to my company website. The website was build with some cold fusion codes. I have also added some hardcoded pages to the website. I need to add a web search function that can search both the datebase pages and the hardcoded pages. I have tried using google custom search engine, but it works really good with the hardcoded pages but not with the database pages. I wonder if there is something in Dreamweaver that I can use to create the web search??? Help!

1. How do I build a database search page using the built in server behaviors? I am not familiar with server and the website is host through Host My Site. Do I need to work with Host My Site or it is something I can do on my end?
2. You mention that any search engine (including google) should be able to index pages. I have tried Google Custom Search Engine. It doesn't work very good with the dynamic pages. Should I try other serach engine as well? Any recommendation of search engine? -

I changed my old Ipod Nano 4G to a new 7G and I can't believe it..
1) where is the title search funtion? - why is it removed?

I'am with you - design and technic must be balanced, but we haven't problems with the amount of RAM to reduce functions - at the moment a lot of people around me can't find the motivation to buy new things, because you can be sure, you get 4 new features you don't need and you also lose 5-10 features you have used day by day - and you can't see it before !
So and old adage says, "Don't touch a running system!"

Title Search Option Missing on iPhone via Home Sharing
When accessing home shared media via my iPhone 5, the search option (to enter a movie title) is now missing. This occurred after the iOS 7 update. Is there another way to do a title search, or are there plans to add this option back? My apologies if this question is listed somewhere else in this tangled mess of discussion boards.
And when you be planning to get this feature in to the upgrades? I mean, I'm very dissapointed of the ipod all ready, the only thing that makes me still in love of the ipod is that beautiful big color screen, but I even think the disign of the 3th gen ipod was more beautiful that the new one.
I remember old days when the ipod came whit a lot of accesories on the box, like the remote control, the dock, 2 cases, Oh! and firewire! Now, it can't even have a funtion upgrade!! What's next? remove the earphones to? come on!
Hope, you guys on apple can inlcude the search funtion in future upgrades, oh and I know is to much to ask, but... may be if you can have back firewire conectivity, I'll love you!

Search function in Catalog from Shopping cart does not work well

We use SRM 5.0 with CCM 2.0 and have the following situation:
From the shopping cart we open a catalog and want to search material by number, for example number 7. Entering this material number directly in the search funtion on the catalog screen, it brings us not only the position with material number 7 buy aso all positions we have a number 7 in its materialnumber (2371, 743, 9957, etc) and a 7 in its description (Screw Bolt 7/3 for example).
I wonder if this normal behaviour of the SRM system or is this an error (with a note OSS asociated).
If this is normal behaviour, how can one search for only the material 7?

With regarding to items with 7 in the description
- It should be consequence of your procurement catalog definition. In schema tab, Catalog characteristics in the /CCM/SHORT_DESCRIPTION you have checked the Relevant for text-based search check-box
With regarding to the 7 results
- Please try using the advanced search option exact phrase or using "7"

I'm using some kind of search-function based on a textfield and following sql statement in the where-part of the SQL report:

This is working fine so far, if I am searching only simple things. My problem now is that I would like to implement a search-funtion using wildcards, e.g. Me%er will find Meier and Meyer.
Does anybody has an idea or a hint?

Thanks for your answer. I have checked this out, but unfortunately this does not solve the problem. The wildcards should stand in the Textfield like Me%er, alike the statement
SELECT adresse from sbb where adresse like 'Me%er',
with the difference, that this statement works and if I enter % in the textfield, it doesn't work.

hi, when i am using ovi maps, then i select 'search', and in search i select 'places', i start writing the name of the place. what happens next is like this: the screen starts dimming, dimming dimming till it looks like it just turned off. then the screen turns white with the nokia logo, and is like the device resets (urning off then on again, but without the hands animation). then it appears on the 'desktop' screen, but the maps application is not running. in summary, when using the search funtion in ovi maps the device resets itself, mostly every time
Hi voodoochicken, I just tried the seach function & it doesn't behave how you describe it, it gave me the option to select my favorite, like the previous poster advise you, reinstalling the firmware doesn't work pay a visit to the Nokia service point, good luck.
