Search in UCM

Hi guys
I configured using ucm and ses and when i launch the crawler, it works and it indexes some file, but when click on search ( http://<ses hostname>:<port>/search/query/ url) and search for documents , it doesn't retrieve anything. How should I troubleshooting this issue ?
Does it search document's content or its title or .. ? How can I config them ?
Thanks in Advance.

Did you login to SES before running the search? If, in the UCM Source configuration you configured the default Authorization as "ACLs controlled by the Source", then UCM security protects the content items. Login to UCM first and make sure you can get search results with that user account. If you can't login to SES with a UCM user account or an external (like LDAP account) that is mapped to UCM, then you have some kind of issue with your Identity Management configuration in SES...

• Case insensitive quick search of UCM

'Quick Search' in UCM looks case sensitive. If I create a file with title as 'Test File' it shows result in following cases
Test
Test File
But it can't show result when I search for
test
test file
Is there a way to make it case insensitive search?
Thanks

• How to Enable Full text search in UCM with Oracle 10g

Hi,
Can you please guide me on how to enable full text search in UCM after I have installed it. My database is Oracle 10g. It would be great if you could guide me through the steps since I am very new to this product.
Regards
Ashish

Hi
Are you sure that your indexer is finishing without any errors? Check activeindex.hda under \search directory to see what is the variable set for activeindex variable? If Oracle Text is the indexer search enabled then the variable activeindex should either OTS1 or OTS2. If anything else then you have indexer problems that is not indexing documents.
Check the CS log file to see if indexer errors are shown there. If yes, then put it over here so that we can analyse it.
Hope it helps

• Full Text Search In UCM

Currently we are looking at the integration of UCM and Webcenter. Can u please guide us in doing a full text search using UCM.
The steps we followed for full text search is
1. Stopped the Content Server service.
2. On the Content Server's file system, navigated to search folder in Content Server Installed Path and altered activeindex.hda with the entry change verity.1 to IdcColl1
3. Renamed all files under the following locations:
CS\search\lock
CSsearch\update
CS\search\rebuild
4. Started the Content Server service
5. Logged into CS and rebuilt the indexes from repository manager and restarted the CS from Admin Server Page
Please let me know if any of the steps is wrong or any more components need to be added.
We get no errors on doing fulltextsearch but we do not any result (displays "found 0 potential items").

• Predictive search in UCM

Hi all,
Can anyone tell me whether it is possible to have implement predictive/suggestive search in UCM like we have in google search?
For example, if we type 'how to' in google search, it automatically predicts or suggests some search query like 'how to tie a tie', 'how to lose weight', etc. Similarly while searching content in UCM by search forms, is it possible to for UCM to predict or suggest the values for the search fields? For example, say there is a field call PO No. In search form, while typing values for this PO No. metadata, say 'PO-3', it should suggest values like'PO-3456', 'PO-3467', 'PO-3521', etc. Is it Possible?
Awaiting a reply.
Thanks in advance.

Hi Rajkumar,
I dont have any examples now but here is the generic approach which I would use:
1. Create a query that returns the list of users, make sure it is parameterized as you would be passing the parameters to the service. Query would use sql query using "like" keyword.
2. Create a service and associate the query to the service.
3. Find the search box that UCM provides from the std_page.htm and then override the resource include in your component to replace the search text box with YUI's .
4. Because I am also a YUI developer so I would explain using YUI.
5. Use YUI's connection manager to route the XHR request when user tries to enter value in the text. You have to use YUI's Autocomplete feature for achieving this.
6. When the user enters data, Autocomplete would spawn an async request to the service which would return the results. Typically best done according to me would be appending the service call by IsJson=1 so that you can directly get the formatted data.
Maybe sometime later if I have time, I will try to write a sample on this.

• Using Oracle Text for searching with UCM 10g

I am using Oracle text with UCM 10gR3 and Site Studio 10gR4 and I am trying to sort the search results by relevancy and to also include a snippet of the retrieved document. I have the fields that the SS_GET_SEARCH_RESULTS service returns but the relevancy score is always equals 5 and the snippet contains characters such as < idcnull, /p, etc., which you can see are XML/HTML/UCM tags but which result sin even more strangeness in the snippet if I try to remove them programmatically.
I have read the Oracle Text documentation and there appear to be ways you can configure Oracle Text but I am not clear at all on what I can do from UCM. It looks like the configuration is either done in database tables or in the query itself, neither of which are readily configurable to me.
Is anyone experienced in this or know of any documentation this might help?
Bill

Hi
If I remember correctly then this issue was seen with an older version of OTS component and Core Update patch / bundle . Upgrade the UCM instance with the latest CS10gr35 update bundle patchset 6907073 and also upgrade OTS component from the same patchset .
Let me know how it goes after this .
Thanks

• Fulltext search in UCM 11g

Hi,
we are using UCM 11g in our application. Database is oracle 11G for the UCM. We need fulltext search to be enabled on UCM. But there two option to enable the fulltext search DATABASE.FULLTEXT and ORACLETEXTSEARCH.
Can anybody please tell which option should be used to enable fulltext search.
Thanks in advacance...

Hi Nitin,
We can configure the new file formats for full text search. Steps below:
Log in to with Admin permissions.
Go to Administration -> Admin Applets -> Configuration Manager
Options tab -> File Formats
Go to File extensions section add your new file extension for which you want to enable the full text and map to some text format or word format
Now, you will be able to full text your own extension based file. I have verified, it's working well
Please note that, if the file extension is more than 8 characters (default value) you will not be able to add;
But, you can alter the table "ExTENSIONFORMATMAP" and can go ahead with longer extensions. Hope this will be useful.

• Oracle Text Search for UCM on Standard One

I'm curious if OracleTextSearch Component for UCM would work with 11g Standard One (or if there are any limitations running UCM with Standard One). Any experiences out there - as this would be for primarily smaller instances?

As far as I can tell, that component exposes some of the functionality of Oracle Text 11g.
Looking at this feature comparison set here:
http://www.oracle.com/database/product_editions.html
It looks like the Standard Edition includes Oracle Text.
Having said that, i've used Oracle Database 11g Standard as a development platform for a while. I would think that would be just fine, considering the small amount of information supplied about your particular implemetnation, metrics baselines, etc.

• How to boost search in UCM?

I am talking about performance tuning. one option may be to increase the memory, but what should be the memory size.and where to check the current memory size of my content server?
Thanks.

Hi ,
CS Search performance to a large extent is very much dependent on how good is the DB health . For eg : if the db indexes are fragmented then it very cause search to perform really bad .
So , one of the first checks to be done is to make sure that DB is in good shape . Please follow the steps mentioned in following post :
https://forums.oracle.com/message/11021379
https://forums.oracle.com/message/10212265
Look at the last post where steps on how to de-fragment the indexes are provided .
Hope this helps.

• How to get the search field with API UCM for a specific UCM Profil

We have UCM 10g
For the checkIn we have for exemple the URL : http://xp-ucm1.oth.prs/idc/idcplg?IdcService=CHECKIN_NEW_FORM&dpTriggerValue=1&dpDisplayLabel=Codification%201&IsSoap=1
To obtain all the field for the checkIn is very simple with this service(IdcService=CHECKIN_NEW_FORM) and RIDC, but for search we don't find the idc service ?
<SOAP-ENV:Envelope>

<SOAP-ENV:Body>

<idc:service IdcService="CHECKIN_NEW_FORM">

<idc:document dRevLabel="1" dUser="sysadmin" dDocName="" dDocTitle="">
<idc:field name="xClbraUserList:isExcluded">1</idc:field>
<idc:field name="xsgti_top_rule:isSetDefault">1</idc:field>
<idc:field name="xlist1:isExcluded">1</idc:field>

<idc:field name="xsgti_chrono_soc"/>
<idc:field name="xsgti_g_entier4:isExcluded">1</idc:field>
any ideas

Hi,
In fact, I don't want to send parameters to the search service but to get the fields to display an advanced search form of my own.
Some rules and profiles filters the amount of fields availables and having a service that can do this filtering for me would be very useful.
The check-in service do this for a trigger value (profile), but I can't find how UCM uses services to display the search form with the right fields depending on the rules and rights of the user.
When I call a search form, UCM calls a service : http://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:xx/idc/idcplg?IdcService=GET_DOC_PAGE&Action=GetTemplatePage&Page=STANDARD_QUERY_PAGE&dpTriggerValue=xxx&dpDisplayLabel=xxx
But with &IsSoap=1, the values returned are not good, some fields are missing, the field captions are not right... I guess UCM calls sub-services but which ones ?
Thanks :)

• Retrieve a list of different values of custom metadata field of an UCM connection

Hi
I am planning to create a custom search document functionality for my UCM and Portal integration. Basically, I am planing to create CMIS queries dynamically. In order to create the CMIS query, I need the possible values of custom metadata for the user to select from and through a backing bean construct the cmis query based on this selection.
I have created a custom metadata field (lets say, 'KindOf'). So I want to show the user a list of all possible 'KindOf' values, so user selects the values he wants and I use those values to build the cmis query and show the results.
What is the easiest, best practices, how would you do it, way of achieving this?
I have little experience with UCM.
Regards

Hi,
As rightly pointed out by jiri machotka, you want that option list .
if you create a option list metadata, you have to publish schema to get the values. You can do it by two ways:
1) Wait for the event which publish the schema automatically.
2)Select "Publish schema" in the options menu of the Configuration Manager.
Some good implementation info about searching can be found at - Students at Oracle: UCM: Creating search and check-in profiles with custom metadata
and http://www.slideshare.net/heikim/effective-strategies-for-searching-oracle-ucm
Otherwise if you want faceted search or something near to enterprise searching capabilities, then go for enterprise search engines.
I have recently worked on Enterprise Search Engines on various CMS products for better, intuitive and relevant search results.
Hope, above information can help you out.

• Need to add Menu Item to Search Result Template page

Hi Guys,

When we do search on UCM, we get a search result page. This search result page has a two drop downs (on the top right) "Change View" and "Search Action" in the blue strip.

Is there any way to solve this problem?Try this link - [http://pscode.org/jh/bin/helpsetter-apidocs.jnlp]. It is sand-boxed, like an applet. It should prompt if you want to create shortcuts, click OK/Yes.
After you run it, open the 'All Programs'/system menu. There should be an item under the 'JavaHelp System' menu for the 'JavaHelp System JavaDocs'. That link is to launch the application again. [Java Web Start|http://www.java.com/en/download/faq/java_webstart.xml] *(<- link)* is what installs the menus. JWS can also install menus specifically for application help.
Older applications declared the required menu items and desktop shortcut in the JNLP launch file, but JRE 1.6.0_18+ offers the IntegrationService *(<- link)* to applications, and provides feedback on success/failure. Note that some systems will ignore requests for desktop integration. Ubuntu Linux will allow for the creation of desktop shortcuts, but silently ignore requests for menu items.

• WebCenter / BPM / UCM

Hello All!
I am new to Oracle Fusion Middleware and am hoping to find some initial guidance to get started! I'd like to utilize Webcenter to integrate repository advanced searching with UCM and document workflow with BPM.
Does anyone have any suggestions on where to begin as far as tutorials for integrating these three items and/or examples I can review?
Thanks Everyone!

What exactly do you mean by "integrate repository advanced searching "?
You can build custom search components by using the RIDC API or the JCR Data controls.
There is also a BPM component to integrate UCM with BPM for the workflow. Webcenter will show an icon if the document is in a workflow and will allow the users to approve or reject a document.
