Secondary fullscreen on UHD monitor

Hello,
I’ve googled for a similar problem but I didn’t find anything.
I have a dual screen configuration (primary is WQHD 2560x1440, secondary is UHD 3840x2160).
When I activate second monitor full screen in Lightroom, the second monitor window does not fills the screen completely:
I’ve tried several combinations, but nothing really works. The only solution seems to deactivate full screen and manually expand the secondary window to screen edges and “simulate” full screen. I never had this problem with my previous configuration (WQHD + WUXGA 1920x1200). Is it related to the quite large secondary screen resolution?
Thank you!

I finally figured out a solution to my problem. I've just ticked the "Disable display scaling on high DPI settings" on the lightroom shortcut. The secondary fullscreen now fills the monitor, the displayed picture is crisp but text is quite small. After one week playing with two screens of different DPIs (normal/high), I can say that Windows is not fully compatible with this kind of setup . I really considering now replacing my WQHD monitor with another UHD monitor to have a full high DPI configuration, which seems to be the only way to benefit a nice scaling and compatibility.

  • W540 + Dock + Dual U28D590 (UHD) monitors

    Hi,
I have a W540 dock previously driving 2xDell U3011 monitors. It worked okay (there were problems with the U3011 going into a sleep-freeze-hell mode but from what I could gather it was more a problem with the U3011 firmware).
I've just upgraded (or tried to) to 2xSamsung U28D590 UHD monitors. This does not appear to work well at all. I've experienced the following symptoms in the following conditions:
(excuse bullet point formatting - cannot figure out how to nest bullet points)
One monitor plugged in - either monitor, on either display port - works fine. Monitor goes to native, laptop lcd goes to native.
Both monitors plugged in, Laptop open - I can drive ONE of the D590's to the native (3840x2160) resolution. The other monitor connects at 1024x768. Any attempt to change resolution on this one gives the ambiguous "Unable to save display settings" error.
Any attempt to disconnect the laptop screen in the screen configuration also gives the "Unable to save display settings" error.
Both monitors plugged in, laptop closed
Ths initial state here is glitchy. The screen config thinks both screens are on, but only one is actually showing anything. It is also periodically flickering (the screen goes dark, for maybe a tenth of a second) as if it is in a lower-power configuration, and as far as I can tell this is happening consistently at 1hz. I haven't run this for long because I am afraid it is doing damage to the monitor.
After some tinkering I can get both screens to show at 2560x1440. Any attempt to push either screen to native simply causes the screen to flicker and the "Do you want to keep these display settings?" prompt to come up - however the screens remain at 2560x1440.
Has anybody else had any experience with trying to drive 2 UHD monitors? I'm really hoping I haven't just wasted a lot of money.
I'm happy to not use the laptop LCD if that is necessary. I would try discrete only BIOS mode but this has been removed for reasons beyond my understanding.
    My configuration:
    Windows 7 Ultimate x64 SP1
    W540
       - 20BGCTO1WW.
       - Bios version GNET60WW (2.08). I know the BIOS is old - the laptop originally shipped with 2.09 - but I had all manner of hellish problems getting my RAM to work (see http://forums.lenovo.com/t5/W-Series-ThinkPad-Laptops/W540-with-G-Skill-F3-1866C10D-16GRSL/td-p/1459... and ended up downgrading. I've checked the BIOS changelog and nothing seems to relate to this issue so I have avoided upgrading for the moment to avoid the risk of bricking my laptop
       - 2880x1620 LCD
       - Quadro K2100M - drivers 9.18.13.1269
       - Intel HD Graphics drivers 10.18.10.3910
Dock 40A20135AU (yes, the 135W dock - I was told on these forums this was okay, and indeed is the unit shipped/recommended for the W540 by Lenovo Australia).
       - I believe I've upgraded the firmware available from here http://support.lenovo.com/us/en/documents/pd028011 . I'm not 100% because after running it, it showed a progress box for flashing which disappeared and there was no confirmation prompt.

Colonel, just realised I didn't answer your previous question - yes, I am driving both monitors from display port cables.
I've updated the NVIDIA Drivers to 9.18.13.1269. Unfortunately this hasn't made a difference (well, it has broken wake from sleep again, but it has not helped)
I've also installed the monitor drivers but this also has not made a difference unfortunately.
ptdh thanks for the information. The fact that I was able to drive a single monitor at 3840x2160 makes me suspect something else is afoot. Not entirely sure if the Pro2840m drivers would work at all on my monitor or even a good idea - from what I understand they are different panels?
Maybe there's just better inherent support in Win8 because of the drive for retina level everything. At the moment unfortunately I don't have time to go and install Win8 on a test drive just to check this.
I have a suspicion it might be a problem more with the Intel side of things thanks to the convoluted optimus display. But sadly I cannot force discrete at a low level because in their infinite wisdom Lenovo have removed that option from the BIOS.
Also tried installing the Intel drivers (not sure if the correct ones - here https://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?DwnldID=23764&lang=eng&ProdId=3319) but unfortunately due to the usual OEM/Vendor faffery they won't install on my system.
If anyone else has more input (any official comment from Lenovo rep? I have emailed support but it's been radio silence so far)

  • How to enable a secondary view on second monitor

both monitors are up  and running.  i'm seeing same info on both screens. cannot figure out how to open secondary view on additional monitor.
    what am i doing wrong?
    thanks

If your monitor is correctly connected to the hardware, then your operating system Win/XP  must see it. But one more step is required: activation!
So here is a small animated GIF describing that action.
    http://img8.imageshack.us/img8/1317/activerecran2.gif
If this acyion is working, moving your cursor from 1 display to the other one will work.
You can start LR and click the small icon "2" in the botton left.

Not with flash itself, only with 3rd party tools like

  • Fullscreen on one monitor, while working on the other?

Mac Pro running Maverick OSX. When I go into fullscreen with youtube on one monitor, and click anywhere on my secondary monitor: Youtube exits fullscreen.
I've tested this with another machine running OSX Mountain Lion. With Mountain Lion I can have one monitor in fullscreen while working in the other monitor.
Is there a way to do this with mavericks?
My secondary monitor is a Cintiqu 13, I'm not sure if that makes a difference.

About the only thing you can do with Premiere is export out a sequence in the background while you continue working, then bring that back into Premiere and lay it down above the original sequence.
Of course, if you wish to continue working on the same sequence, this won't work.
Background rendering would be a very welcome addition to Premiere.  Hell even Encore can do that.

  • Adobe Reader Fullscreen Preferences Second Monitor Only

Hey, I'm trying to set adobe reader to open in fullscreen mode on my second monitor instead of whatever monitor it's currently displayed on. I've looked through preferences, but the options for which monitor to use are descriptors like this monitor, biggest, widest, etc. Even if these options did somehow help, it doesn't save my choice and immediately reverts back to the this monitor option. I don't want adobe reader to open on my second monitor, I only want full screen to go to my second monitor. This appears to be an option in preferences, but it's appearing less and less possible.

I am also having this issue.
First PDF opens on second monitor. Second one I open will open on main laptop monitor and 3,4,5 etc the same.
Would like it to default full screen on second monitor for all PDF's.

  • Firefox exits fullscreen with 2 monitors

I am using 2 monitor, identified as display-1 and display-2.
I split 1 window of the Firefox in the display-1 and another in display-2.
I set display-1 to full screen (using the HTML5 video API), then I focus in the display-2. Just after focusing on display-2, display-1 exits fullscreen with the Title Bar showing on top.
    https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/995644 don't helped me.
    navigator.userAgent = "Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Ubuntu; Linux x86_64; rv:32.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/32.0"

So if you zoom in and out on the second screen the first one goes out of full screen mode.
I also noticed on the bug that was references that the feature full-screen-api.exit-on-deactivate is no longer visible in about:config. It is possible to add it back. Right click on the about:config page and add a new entry.
Does adding it back make a difference?

  • Flash crashes when in fullscreen with two monitors

I have had this problem for several weeks now. It has been absolutely obnoxious. In a nutshell, when I full screen a video that is using Flash (youtube or twitch) and click on my my other browser on my other monitor, Firefox freezes up. Hard. It doesn't matter if it is Display 1 or 2; Fullscreen + clicking on other browser causes the crash every time except for the first few times after closing and reloading Firefox. I have tried turning Hardware Acceleration on and off, I have re-installed Firefox and Flash several times, and still have this issue. Once the issue happens, the only way to get out of it is to control-alt-delete and close Plug-in Container. This closes Flash and gives me access back to Firefox. Most annoying.
http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic.php?f=38&t=2919359 was my original post I made on a different support site but I decided to go straight to the source. I would appreciate any help or advice. Thanks!

You can try to disable hardware acceleration in Firefox.
*Tools > Options > Advanced > General > Browsing: "Use hardware acceleration when available"
You need to close and restart Firefox after toggling this setting.

  • Can't open two streams from twitch fullscreen on different monitors at the same time, why not?

When i try to open two streams each on one monitor ( in fullscreen), the one opened second just overlaps the existing one.

    Hi wilson1470,
Only one window can be in fullscreen at a time. Is it possible to keep the second on in a tab of the same fullscreen window?

  • UHD Monitors

I have a new 2gb video car and a new UHD 28" inch monitor and I can't see the Photoshop menu bars and functions. I went into the view/screen mode figuring it might change the pixel size of the characters but the program doesn't allow me. Can someone help me It's a problem seeing what's on my screen.

What version of Photoshop do you have? CC 2014 has a 200% UI checkbox under Edit > Preferences > Experimental.
It's the only remedy for UHD displays for Windows. You can trial it, and if it works for you, you might consider the Photography Plan.

  • The dock appears on the secondary rather than primary monitor

In 10.9.2 my dock has started appearing on my secondary monitor rathern than the primary. I do not know what caused this relocation, but I would like to know how to replace it on the primary screen.

Mavericks has changed how the menubar & Dock work with multiple displays. If you move the cursor to the top or bottom respectively of a display that isn't showing one, it will appear on that display.
If you don't want this, see this article for a way to disable the feature.

  • Browser window open on laptop, and movie in fullscreen on external monitor???

I recently got a monitor as a second display for my laptop.
I tried to play a movie in fullscreen mode on the external monitor and
have a browser window open on my laptop screen.
Fullscreen mode puts the movie in its own desktop/space and when switch to it
with a gesture, My laptop screen also switches to a respective/designated (but blank) space.
So I cannot at the moment see both windows on different displays at the same time...
Is there any way to do this ???

When you first hook it up it will probably have the display set in Extended Desktop mode. The Menu Bar and Dock will be on the MacBook display and your background screen on the TV but you can move the cursor onto the TV screen.
You have the display set in Extended Desktop mode with the MacBook as the main screen. The Menu Bar and Dock will be on the MacBook display and your background screen on the TV but you can move the cursor onto the TV screen. In System Preferences>Display on the MacBook screen there should be an Arrangement tab when you have the MacBook hooked up to the TV and both screens working. When you click the Arrangement tab do you see two monitors side by side? One of them will have a Menu Bar at the top. Just click on the Menu Bar and drag it to the second monitor. That will make the second monitor your main screen.
You can now use your MacBook in Clamshell Mode with a wired or Bluetooth keyboard and mouse.  http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3131 When you disconnect from the TV your Menu Bar will automatically change back to the MacBook.
Or if you want to use the MacBook’s keyboard and trackpad to work on the MacBook screen while showing it on a TV you can check the Mirror Display box on the lower left hand side of the Arrangement tab under the two monitors box.

  • QuickTime and iTunes video playing fullscreen on external monitor automatic

Hello, on my Toshiba laptop with nVidia video card, I have an external monitor hooked up to the laptop. Every time I go to play video from QuickTime or iTunes, it plays the video at full screen size on the external monitor while also playing in the normal small window of QuickTime or iTunes on the main (laptop) LCD. I don't have the QuickTime Pro key installed on this machine, nor have I somehow selected to play videos at full screen. It does this whether I want to do it or not, which is quite annoying as the full screen version is usually flickering to boot.
Help please. I've looked in the QuickTime Control Panel and don't see anything that would cause this problem, nor in iTunes.
    Cheers, Andrew.

A couple of things you might want to try. Open the QT Player settings, not to be confused with the QT Control panel. There should be settings in there for monitors and dual monitors I believe.
For the flickering, open the Display control panel>Settings>Advanced>Monitor. Listed under Monitor settings-Screen refresh rate: try changing the setting to 85 Hertz.

  • Secondary ID in Seeburger Monitoring

    Hi Guys,
For an incoming EDI message, when clicked we have the message id which is a unique number
Followed by that we have anothe tab called secondary id
    It has
    IN_ORDHDR........000192160200908111010080001
The first part IN_ORDHDR is the message type
    20090811 is the date
But i am not able to figure out the relevance of 000192160
Please shed some light on this.

    Hi Krish,
YOu can probably ask the EDI trading partner who sent you the EDI document or teh VAN partner if it came via VAN.
    The various possibilities are
    1) It can be the DUNS identifier of the sender
    2) Interchange control number of the EDI document.
    Regards,
    Ravi
