Secondary/Tertiary port not function

I have done a clean install on the sound card twice, and i formatted windows 2 days ago. The sound card has always worked great, but this is my first time on using it's 4/4. setting, or higher. It only exports sound to the primary(2 speaker) slot....but the others will not operate. I have tried everything i can think of, even 3rd party software....
It's driving me insane, I just want it to WORK.. heh
I know it's not the amp, and it's not the speakers, because I ran headphone jacks to both ports, and yet again, only the primary slot exported sound. I have triple checked all of my settings through the console, and it fails all the same. I have also searched this forum, and found nothing that resembles my issue to a plausable extent.
Please, if anyone has any ideas, don't hesitate to post real fast.
Any help is greatly appreciated,
Barry

"They know about this problem but they will not fix it."
*sigh*
Sounds all too familiar. Same thing goes for graphics cards... and even video games. These guys rake in millions of dollars, but dont spend any on hiring a PR person that does technical work behind the scenes.
Well, for all I know, I could have fried it somehow. I know it sounds odd... frying only certain parts of a chip... but I overclocked my graphics card a year ago, and fried it's directx capabilities... Now it puts these really wierd streaks from 3D rendered models up to the sky. So technically, it could be ANYTHING.. =(
And to respond to the preceeding, it's a SoundsBlaster Audigy2 ZS. Never had any problems, and I've used the 4.+ ports before. All worked great, then. And I cant confirm that it's the driver, because I have used multiple ones, even from 3rd parties. That would lead me to believe that it's either O/S or Hardware.
Anyone have any further notes? I'm stuck here, and I would prefer not to have to buy another =P

  • RMBP (Early 2013) BOTH Usb ports not functioning.

    Hi Guys.
    I have a Retina Macbook Pro 15" (Early 2013) with 10.10.2 Yosemite.
My left side USB port stopped working about 4 months ago so I've been relying on a hub and the right side USB port for awhile now. When I went to use my laptop this morning, the USB port wasn't functioning at all. I've plugged other USB devices into it and it's not being recognized at all. The devices work in other computers and there doesn't seem to be any damage to the USB port physically.
On the USB port that just stopped working, I had a USB 3.0 4 Port hub connected with a WD External HD, and a small USB Audio Interface.
I've already tried an SMC Reset, PRAM Reset, Repaired Disk and Disk Permissions. None of that worked.
I bought it about a year ago from a Best Buy and I got their 2 year plan. But before I go there, is there anything else it could be that I can do myself?
    Thanks
    Joe

Hi. You have done most of the things I would have said to try. In rare cases reinstalling the Operating system can fix the problem. I have one link of suggestions you could try. Other tan that taking it back to best buy seems the only option left.  http://smallbusiness.chron.com/reset-usb-ports-mac-laptops-51619.html

  • DVI port not functioning on G4 MDD

Hello, I just bought a 23" Apple Cinema Display and the Graphic Card on my G4 MDD 1.42 doesn't see it. The display stays black (doesn't come on). However the Firewire and USB ports work on the display.
The graphic Card is the original (I think) ATI Radeon 9000 pro. It has 64 MB of RAM. That should be enough and is said to support this display.
It seems to me that the DVI signal is not working. I say that because, with both a VGA to DVI and a VGA to ADC adapter, I can plug 2 CRT monitors and they all work fine.
Does anyone have a suggestion on how to solve this? Should I buy another card?
How do I know for sure that the card is not working. So far I tried it with 3 different DVI monitors and none worked. The display I bought is fine. I tried it on a mac mini.

There have been many reports of new 23" displays with bad power supplies. Is there a another computer you could try the display on? the adapters shouldn't be a problem,

  • USB port not functional at startup

This is 100% reproducible. I plug my 23" Apple Cinema monitor into my new 2.8GHz MacBook Pro. I use a display to DVI connector for the monitor and plug the USB from the monitor into one of the USB ports on the mac. I have a third party mouse and keyboard plugged into the back of the monitor in the build in USB hub. Each time the mac starts up, the keyboard and mouse are dead. I simply switch usb ports and they come back to life. For some reason they are not recognized at startup. Does this have something to do with the hub on the monitor being "slow usb"?

Is the hub in the monitor self powered (from the monitor's power supply) or does it get it's power from the MBP port? If it gets it's power from the MBP port, and the inrush current of trying to power up two devices at the same time exceeds 0.5 amps, the MBP will shut down the USB port.

  • Split x2 problem with USB ports not working

My computer is somewhat new and this problem has been happening since I first got it.  I couldn't find anything about this problem here or elsewhere online.
When I plug anything into either USB port (I've tried my phone and an external harddrive) the computer like sort of recognizes it on and off.  When I plug in my phone the computer beeps at random every several seconds and doesn't recognize it.  The external hard drive was sort of recognized but only on and off and I couldn't move things from it to my computer because it wouldn't stay connected long enough.  It's literally like every 2-3 seconds it recognizes the USB thing, changes it's mind and then recognizes it again, etc. forever.
I haven't had a chance to test the SD card slot or the HDMI port yet.
Sometimes the mouse freezes also, I'm not sure if this is the same problem (related to connection between the tablet and the keyboard parts) or if these are separate problems.  It seems to be happening less often and goes away if I wait for a moment.  Still annoying but the USB ports not functioning is a more urgent issue.
I need help, is there a way to fix this or is something faulty with my computer?

  • The USB port on my 4th generation Airport Extreme does not recognize any peripheral devices whatsoever.  In other words, it does not function at all.  What can I do?

I have had my Airport Extreme for almost a year now.  I have not been able to get it to work.  It has never worked.  I have tried everything in the apple manuals, my peripheral device manuals, and online help.  My Airport Extreme Base Station has a completely dead USB port.  The USB connector does have voltage and ground.  Apparently there is no data transfer.  I do not know how to test the data pinouts.  I don't know if it is a software or driver problem, or if it is a hardware or wiring problem.  My computer is a mid-2009 13" MacBook Pro.  All of my external devices work well with the MacBook Pro.  The USB functionality on the MacBook Pro has always performed without a glitch.  It seems the problem with the Airport Extreme must either be a network communication problem or a hardware/hardwire problem.  I bought the Airport Extreme to build a home inTRAnet network.  I have a seperate 3rd party router for inTERnet.  Contrary to what the manuals declare, the initial setup of my Airport Extreme requires inTERnet setup during the process.  Even when the choice is made to limit the network access to LAN only, when I reach the end of the setup process, a prompts reads that the Airport Extreme may not function because I have not set it up for inTERnet with the WAN.  Well, Dah...  during the intial stages of the setup I told the machine to configure an inTRAnet only LAN setup.  So...  I went ahead and set it up for inTERnet and WAN.  Either way, the USB port is not working.  Then I set it up for the whole package, WAN, LAN, and everything.  Still... no function out of the USB port.  Any ideas?
P.S.  The Ethernet works and so does the 802.11 tranceiver.  The USB port is the only problem, but a major, major one for my needs.  There is no peripheral functionality.

Okay so I figured it out.  I inherited the Configurator already set up so I didn't realize that our former administrator was brilliant and set things up a little differently.  To anyone else who finds themselves in this spot try this:
After you plug the iPad in and open Configurator instead of trying to 'Prepare' the device click 'Assign'
There should be groups of Users listed on the left hand side of the screen.
Select the group you want the ipad to be a part of, or make a new group. ***Note a group can be one person so this is a good feature for teachers to have individual app assignements for students.
After you select the user group click the little plus ( + ) button on the bottom of the screen under the second column of info where names and device serial numbers should appear.
Type the name of the person, group, whatever you want to identify that assignment by into the blank that pops up after you hit the plus ( + )
Then select the assignment you just made and tohe 'Check Our' button at the bottom.  At this point a box will pop up with a window at the top listing all devices supervised by Configurator.  There is a tiny down arrow button that opens a scroll down menu to the right of this box.  Click that, then select the device connected by USB as the one to assign.
The name of the assignment you gave it will show on the lock screen now and you can assign apps and profiles to the device like you would any other device in your Configurator inventory.
    Good Luck.

  • My firewire 800 and USB ports on not functioning!

My firewire 800 and USB ports on not functioning, I believe it is an issue the next driver loaders anyone, know how I can reset these?

You don't "reset" a driver (kext).  And I don't believe it s a driver problem.  However you might try doing a smc and pram reset to see if that "shakes the ports loose".  Might work.  Couldn't hurt to try.

  • My input/output port is no longer functioning. After hitting the proper buttons in the System Requirements/Sound, it still does not function.

After having my MacBook Pro for just less than a year, the input/output port is suddenly not functioning. Even after clicking the correct buttons in the System Requirements/Sound section, I cannot record through the input and listen through the output modes.

    Hi Tim,
Your MBP has a one year hardware warranty on it, so I would contact AppleCare or go in to an Apple Store.

  • Windows says "device is not functioning" and "Windows does not recognize"

I lost my USB dock connector cable for my ipod. I just went out today and bought a brand new "Cygnett GrooveLink Strech Retractable USB Cable for iPod". I was pumped when I came home to finally be able to add music to my ipod again, but alas when I plug the iPod in, Windows pops up saying that the device is not functional and that Windows does not recognize it. I tried everything from rebooting the iPod to re-downloading iTunes and iPod updater. After searching this site for the past few hours, I figured I'd try and possibly find some real answers here. Please Help!!

    Hey everyone,
I had the same problems all of you are having. I
just got a 5th generation video ipod. For a few
days, my computer a) wouldn't recognize it; b) froze
up when I connected it; c) mistook it for a mass
    storage device ("drive E"). I bought a USB 2.0
notebook card which didn't work either and actually
seemed to make the problem worse because when I
connected the iPod to it my computer froze up.
I was very confused because my new iPod worked on my
brother's computer--which is much older than mine but
still recognized the iPod and connected to it.
Then I noticed that my brother's computer is running
an older version of the ipod software. I used his
disk to install "Ipod Updater 2005-06-26" rather than
the new version of the software on the Apple Web
site. Then I plugged my iPod into a USB 1.1 port.
To my surprise, my computer finally recognized the
iPod and is now loading music onto it. I cannot
believe this worked. I wonder if the latest version
of the software is faulty in some way.
Try it! I hope it will work for you too. You will
need an older version of the iPod updater software,
so borrow it from a friend with an older ipod.
I am having this problem also...It will work fine on the 1.1 but when i plug it into the 2.0 it has trouble recognizing it...

  • Is possible to have a time machine backup on an external hd connected to either a primary or secondary router and not have "back to my mac" using 10.7.3?

Is possible to have a time machine backup on an external hd connected to either a primary or secondary router and not have "back to my mac" using 10.7.3?

The bottom line is that Apple does not support Time Machine backups at the USB port of the AirPort Extreme. If they don't support their own router, they certainly don't support other routers from other manufacturers.
Connect the drive directly to the Mac using either USB or FireWire.....or....use a Time Capsule.  Either of these setups will be supported.
If you want to try the unsupported method(s), you can certainly do so. But, I would suggest that you have a secondary backup plan in place if this is important data that you will be backing up.

    hello every body,
I have 0 DC and 01 ADC lets say that DC and ADC. both were replicating AD and working properly. few days ago the motherboard of my DC failed and we replaced with new one. and obviously NIC card was attached with M.Board which also changed. when i boot up
my DC, i see its not functioning as domain controller as i saw in server manager all FSMO roles are with red cross. i assign the ip address which it hold previous i.e 192.168.0.1. but still FSMO roles are disabled. While my only ADC is working properly with

My DC is working properly as a System.
should i have to do something with my NIC or AD DS roles or i have to transfer FSMOs to ADC. or sieze fsmo roles of DC on ADC.
    please help.

Is your DC (role holder) a DNS Server as well? I assume it is, if so open the server role properties and ensure the DNS server role shows the IP in the interface if it does not you may need to uninstall/ re-install the DNS server role (assuming it is a 2008
R2 DC or above... Also did you look at your NIC settings? Did you re-establish the exact same NIC configuration as before?
When the motherboard gets replaced and new NICS are introduced I normally look at the NIC settings and DNS Server roles... That is the Microsoft side of things. On the LAN/ WAN side of things if your network team has port security enabled on the switches
the port may be locked down due to the new MAC Address.

the 2 macs are connected by a cable mini display port.
Since yosemite with Command/f2 I switch the screen towards the macmini but the luminosity is at the max .
I do not have the possibility of regulating the luminosity with f1 or f2 as in maverick.
So I can't use TDM any more (my eyes ...)
    Thank's for your help

Hey Thunderlight, Sorry to hear about your problem, I ran into a similar problem with my wife's 15" mbp. The screen was completely off but we couldn't increase the brightness because pushing the f2 key just made "Bonk" noises without bringing up the brightness bar.
Go to "System Preferences" and open "Keyboard & Mouse", make sure the box for "Use all F1, F2, et. keys as ....." is NOT checked. That solved our problem. If it is checked the F1, F2 keys don't do anything unless they are set up to work in an application. Hope that helps!
