Section format event - Report Designer Component for Crsyatll 11

Hi,
I have been trying to find some sample code for Visual C++ using MFC to try and hook into the format event when a section of the rpt gets rendered. I have looked through all the samples and have not really been able to find anything conclusive.
I basically just need adjust the width and height of the OLE object. If anyone could point me in the right direction or provide some sample code that would be most helpful. Just something how to use an event sink for example?
Thanks in advance, Dene.
PS this might not be in the right forum, there is a bewildering number to choose from for a new comer.

Hello Dene,
please find some [RDC C++ samples for event handling|ftp://ftp.businessobjects.com/pub/incoming/CPP_code_samples_events_thread_999932.zip].
As your issue is about our [Legacy Application Development SDKs|SAP Crystal Reports - Legacy SDKs;, please post your future issues in this dedicated forum.
Thanks a lot

  • Report Designer Component for VS2010

    Dear All
i have an application built in VS2003 and CRXI. Now i have to update the application using VS and CR 2010, but i come to know that RDC is not available in CR2010. i have to update the application with old functionality that offers the users to design, create and update their report. Can any one tell me the possible solutions so that i can upgrade my system with the previous functionality?

As long as you are using the CR SDK for .NET, the MSM is here:

There is no runtime for the RDC as it is not supported \ licensed to be used in VS 2010

I'm using the Report Designer Component in a Visual Basic application. Everything seems to be working fine except for some reason I can't seem create a tab on the ruler. I believe that all I should have to do is click on the ruler, is that correct?
Has anyone else had this problem??

  • Conditional formatting in report designer.

    Hi All !
What is conditional formatting & how to do it ?
does it act like condition which we do in BEX query designer ?
Can we restrict values using this at the report designer level ?
    Regards
    Tom.

    Hi,
Conditional Formatting: You use this function to set a design that deviates from the design for selected characteristic values, hierarchy nodes, and so on, that is set by the default row patterns.
Conditional formatting can only be applied to characteristic values in dynamic sections of a data provider. A query (or query view) with one or more characteristics in the drilldown forms the basis of a data provider with a dynamic section.
Take a look at the URL below:

  • Graphic/Image not displayed with conditional formatting in Report Designer

We are facing problems with displaying an image in a conditional formatting in the Report Designer. The image itself is in the mime repository and can be displayed in the report if no conditional formatting is used. But if it is used the image doesn't appear in the report.
    Backend setup: SP 8
Frontend setup: Patch 8, hotfix 2, Revision 95
    Any help is highly appreciated.

    Hi,
I could not reproduce your problem in internal SP8 system. Also images in rows with conditional formatting are displayed.
Do you get any errors after the execution in the portal?
Try to use exactly the same image in both rows (drag-and-drop with CTRL key pressed).
If then your problem still occurs, open a customer message. Describe your problem in detail and write technical name of the report you used.

  • Report designer error for hierarchial structure on Columns

    Hello,
I have a query with a structure in rows and another one in columns. I also have a 0COMPANY hierarchy Dimension within the Columns.
When I insert the data provider into a report designer report, I receive the following error:
"Query contains a hierarchial structure on Column(s)..."
Has any one encountered this issue before? Is there a note or workaround available?
    Thank you.
    Sri Yalla

    Hi,
the report designer need to have a fixed number of columns. If you have a Hierarchical Structure in the Columns, the number of columns can change. Therefore Report designer does not allow to use this DP in this drill down. You should place the Row structure to the columns and the hier-structure to the rows. then it should work.

  • Report design issue for discussion

I'm going to generete several reports using JSP--session EJB,session bean
retrieve database, return result to JSP and show in browser.
I like resultset, but resultset is not Serializable, so can't send one across
    the wire.
if I turn the ResultSet into a Vector, send vector to JSP,I'll have to build
diffrent structure classes for each reports.I like the resultset becuse it
    seems "consolidate" for diffrent tables
JDBC2.0 provides cachedrowset, but it seems only good for small set of
data, for report,I need to return alot of data
    do you have any sugguestions

    Suggestion:
Unless you have a good reason, don't use EJB for this.
    1) It is non-transactional (probably)
    2) It is not distributed (ejbs are probably local)
    3) Were it distributed, it would suck (high cost of transmission with
    report-scale data)
    4) You are fighting something ... if it doesn't seem natural, it probably
    aint.

  • How to rename sections in CR XI R2 Report Designer?

    Hello!
I have developed a number of reports with the Report Designer Component in Visual Basic.  In the RDC, you can rename the report sections using the VB properites for that section.  I am saving these reports as .rpt files so that I can display them with with a Java client using JRC.  When I edit the .rpt files in CR XI R2 Report Designer, I cannot see the section names that I gave to the sections in the RDC, and I cannot find a way to edit the section names.  However, I can still access the sections in the rpt files with JRC by the names I gave them in the RDC, so the section names must be in there some where.  Where does on edit/view the section names in the CR XI R2 report designer?
I have probably missed something obvious, so thanks for any help!
Edited by: Joseph Huber on Mar 17, 2010 9:20 PM

    Hello,
"From the RDC, one can export the report to an RPT file. When you perfrom that operation RDC is out of the picutre"
Not correct. It is the RDC processing the report and doing the exporting.
RDC (craxdrt.dll) is COM, Java is our JAR files and the Report Designer uses crpe32 based API's and functionality plus some more embedded routines which are a combination of our API's. And I believe you may be using the Embedded Designer Control (craxddrt.dll - yes one more d ) which is another deprecated report engine and is only used in the .NET IDE for creating reports and no allowed to distribute as of CR 2008.
The Report Designer ( crw32.exe ) only has the option to use long names or short names and will display those only and not your custom names. The Java Engine ( JRC ) is relatively new and is based on existing code but completely different so no new functionality and I doubt naming of sections is included.
The Embedded Designer Control was used for third party developers to impliment into their own applications but as noted above, it's no longer supported as of CR 2008. Life cycle is about to end also for R2.
The replacement for the RDC is Report Application Server ( RAS ) and can be used in both a managed .NET as well as a Java application.
Yes it is totally confusing so Use what ever works... But this would be a minor issue which if you really want it in RAS or the JRC I can put in an Enhancement request for you?
    Thank you

  • Report Designer odbc connection string for data source using a parameter

I am using stand alone report designer 3 for the present and have a question/problem regarding the odbc connection string for MySQL when setting up the data-source
I need to be able to enter a parameter which is the database name i.e. BOE-201401 or say BOE-201312 etc  from a list of databases the user can choose from.
at present the odbc connection string points to BOE-201402
the connection string is at present  Dsn=Development Server for MYsql;description=MYSQL;server=ldndw01;database=BOE-201402;port=3306
my parameter has the name BOE_DATABASE
and in an expression it is  as such
    =Parameters!BOE_DATABASE.Value
I want to point the datasource for the report to the parameter value before the user sees the report.

    Hi Leslie,
Based on your description, we want to design a report with a dynamic DataSource connection string. There are the basic steps below for your reference:
    Create report with static database.
Change data source to report parameter.
Send new database connection string as a report parameter.
More detail information, please refer to the following blog: Dynamic Database in SSRS 2008.

  • Which CTC template needs to be run for Bex Reporting Designer

    Hi,
In our BW system I do not see any "Bex Web reporting Designer",.
Which CTC Template I do need to rung to in istall Bex Web Reporting Designer"
    Thanks for help
    sahmad

    Hi,
To ensure BI Java is configured correctly and completely, please do the following:
    1. Always use the CTC Template for BI Java for configuration (check SAP NetWeaver 2004s Masterguide available at   http:/service.sap.com/instguides for details). Manual configuration or configuration via report RSPOR_SETUP should not be done for SAP NetWeaver 2004s.
    2. To ensure a smooth configuration process, make sure that you have deployed the very latest patch from SAP Service Marketplace at http://service.sap.com/swdc for CTC Template for BI Java.
    3. To avoid encountering already known issues within the area of BI Java itself, make sure to deploy the latest patches for SCAs BI-BASE-S and BIWEBAPP.
    4. Read note 983156 ('BI configuration w. Template Installer') and  ake sure the necessary prerequisites are given on the ABAP side. Ensure that you have installed the latest LM Tools.
    5. After running the CTC Template for BI Java, run SAP NetWeaver BI Diagnostics & Support Desk Tool as described in note 937697 to verify your installation. In the "Advanced mode" of the tool, go to the "Configuration checks" tab and check for potential red traffic lights. To resolve the issues shown there, check the "Remedy" column and follow the instructions given there.
    6. The overall process is described in more detail in note 917950 ('SAP NetWeaver 2004s: Setting up BEx Web'). Make sure to go through the note and also have a look at the document WDEBU7_Setting_up_BEx_Web.zip attached to that note, showing the overall process in a set of slides with screenshots.

    HI,
There are different sections in a Report Designer. G0Header, G1 Header, Det, G1Footer, G0Footer
G0 Header: Contains only the labels of the feilds that is displayed on the top of every page.
G1 Header: is a level 1 header which is displayed Beneth the Group0 Header
Detail: will display the values of Query Elements(Key/Text) placed in this section.
G1 Footer: Will be displayed once for each G1 Header that is displayed. This Can have the totals.
G0 Header: Will be displayed at the end of the page. The footer can have page nuber or totals.
    For Example:
To design a simple report having Distribution Channel and Sales Amount. The report can be designed as
G0 Header: [Distribution Channel].Key [Distribution Channel].Text [Sales Amount]
    Detail: [Distribution Channel].Key [Distribution Channel].Text [Sales Amount].Val
    G0 Header: [Result]                                                                [Sales Amount].Sum

  • Report Deisgn Component error

    Hello,
I have an application running crystal reports XI using the Report Design component and the ActiveX viewer to display the report, everything works great on a virtual machine, now I am moving everything to a different machine and is not working and worse is not reporting an error.
Here is what's going on, application object is created ok, and the report object is apparently ok, but when I try to access some properties like SQLqueryString my application crash.
    Code:
    Set session("oApp") = Server.CreateObject("CrystalRuntime.Application.11")
    reportname = Request.QueryString("reportName")
    If Not IsObject (session("oApp"))
      Then Call LogOntoAppRptServer()
    End If
    Set Session(oRptName) = session("oApp").OpenReport("C:\REPORTS\" & reportname, 1)
    Session(oRptName).MorePrintEngineErrorMessages = False
    Session(oRptName).EnableParameterPrompting = False
    'Session(oRptName).DiscardSavedData
    Set mainReportTableCollection = Session(oRptName).Database.Tables
For Num = 1 To mainReportTableCollection.Count  'TestConnectivity returns true
      If mainReportTableCollection.Item(Num).TestConnectivity = False
        Then mainReportTableCollection.Item(Num).SetLogOnInfo "skylightserver.dsn", , _
                                                              CStr(usr), CStr(pwd) End If
'Application freezes if I try to access some properties
    Call Session(oRptName).ReadRecords
'Application aborts right here without error
    Questions:
-Could it be happening because I am using the same license on both systems?
-Could it be a problem because virtual machine is on my network Domain and the second is in a Workgroup?
    -What else could it be?
    Thanks,

  • Report Designer Control - Redistribution Issue

    Hi:
I use Report Designer Control(RDC) in my program to allow user to modify reports.  I made a build and installed the build but when I try to access report designer from program I am getting the error about license.
"This system does not have a valid license, or the evaluation  copy of the license has expired. Please contact Business Objects to obtain a Report Design Control license."
I do have valid KeyCode for RDC and i am supplying the same for the merge module too.
    My Development Environment
Operating System            :     Windows XP (SP 2)
    IDE                                 :     VS 2005 Professional
Crystal Reports                :      XI Release 2 Developer
Deployment Software        :      InstallShield 12 Premier
Can anyone please tell me why I am getting above message, I can able to distribute Report Designer Control with Crystal Reports 9 version without any problems, but it is not working with Crystal Reports XI.
    Thanks in Advance,
    Sriram.

    Hello,
The Report Designer Component (RDC) was never designed to work in Visual Studios .NET.  This is because the RDC is an ActiveX COM component and Microsoft has been moving away from ActiveX.
It is also my experience that RCAPI applications - "to allow user to modify reports" - will not work in a Visual Studios application.
It is possible you're getting your error if you had an original CR XI (v11.0) keycode and upgraded to CR XI R2 (v11.5).  Original CR XI (v11.0) keycodes will not work. CR XI (v11.0) keycodes do not "unlock" RCAPI functionality in CR XI R2 (v11.5).  If you upgraded from CR XI (v11.0) to CR XI R2 (v11.5) you likely have an original CR XI (v11.0) keycode.  You will need to get a new CR XI R2 keycode from Business Objects.  You can contact the Customer Care team by email - customercareamericas @ businessobjects.com (rebuild the email address) - or by phone - 800-877-2340, option 5.  If they need additional information you can ask them to contact me.  I'm on the Developer Support team and they should be able to contact me internally.
If you have an original CR XI R2 (v11.5) keycode please make sure to update to at least Service Pack 2 and download updated RDC merge modules from the [Business Objects Software Download Page|https://websmp230.sap-ag.de/sap(bD1lbiZjPTAwMQ==)/bc/bsp/spn/bobj_download/main.htm].
Please remember that even if you get a new, original CR XI R2 keycode, and/or update your merge modules  you may still not be able to get your VS2005 RCAPI RDC application working.
    Sincerely,
    Dan Kelleher

  • Report Designer is slow and does not update info.

I am working with Report Designer.
It is running very slow. For first few minutes it runs fine and after that it slows down.
It is only Report Designer which is slow- Query Designer, BEx Analyzer and other applications are running fine.
Does anyone have any idea please?
I also have some other issue with Report Designer.
I created queries in Query Designer and then formatted in report Designer. Now they want to add one more column or row in query. I add that in Query designer but it does not show in report designer.
It does show under Query Element but I donu2019t how to populate whole row and column.
Can someone assist me that how to bring in report designer?
    Thanks

    Bashir,
make sure that you have the latest SP of SAP GUI installed - it is available in

  • CR Report Designer Control ActiveX

If I remember well, 10 years ago, I saw somewhere a Crystal Reports Designer Component (Active X Control), which could be put on a VB6-Form to design new reports from a 3rd-party-application. Special End-User-Licenses were required... I can't remember the original name (perhaps mamba...?).
Does there still exists a such control? I can't find any info again....
What about CR 2008, does there exists something similar?
    Tx,
    Patrick

    Hi Patrick,
That's going back a long time. It may be the RDC, it was the only ActiveX control that I recall we ever had. It's no longer available in CR 2008, RDC and it's complimentary ActiveX Viewer last shipped in CR XI R2.
Only thing available in CR 2008 is the CrystalDecisions.Windows.Forms which can be dropped into a form for a Desktop application. Or there is also a Java based viewer using the JRC.
    Thank you
