Secure FTP Connection

Dear Sir/Madam,
Do you know how to build and secure FTP connection using sun.net.ftp.FtpClient? Thanks in advanced for the help.
Regards,
Stanley

In one word: don't. sun.* packages are not only undocumented - they're subject to change or disappearance w/out notice. Depending on them is a bad idea.
I believe there are Java FTP classes available on the 'net somewhere - have you tried Googling for them?

  • How can I find out the server port for a secured FTP site and creating a FTP Connection Manager

    I have to create a FTP Task to go out and get the files that our 3rd party vendor will be dropping on a secured FTP site. I have all the credentials to access that Secured FTP Site and have successfully done so through FileZilla.
    Now I need to set-up a FTP Task to go out and get their files and in so doing create a FTP Connection Manager. Is there any way I can determine the
    Server Port number from the Secured FTP site? I let it default to 21 and tried the Test Connect and it failed.
    Thanks for your review and am hopeful for a reply.

    Hi ITBobbyP,
    SSIS has a built in FTP task, while this only works for the FTP protocol, it doesn’t support SFTP. But there are some free clients like WinSCP and
    SSIS SFTP Task Control Flow Component
    available in the CodePlex which can invoked from SSIS.

    Hello again
    First off, sorry for confusing anyone with the WYSIWYG reference. Failed attempt at humor. Ah, live and learn.
    Can you expound on what you mean when you say: But there does seem to be “disagreement” regarding whether RH supports HTTPS?
    If you are only referring to this thread, are you sensing "disagreement" because Willam said you can serve content to users?
    Here's the deal. I sort of "read between the lines" with your post and made an assumption and it seems I may have needed to ask you to clarify before tossing an answer out. The assumption I made was based on your statement of: it only lists ftp or http
    That made me believe you were referring to the Publish section in the Single Source Layout properties. (shown below)
    This dialog allows you to specify a protocol used to UPLOAD your generated content to a server.
    What Willam was referring to was the END USERS viewing the content AFTER it has been uploaded.
    Cheers... Rick

  • How do you send by secure ftp from SAP R/3 4.6C on iseries

    We have been using the SAP Standard program, RSFTP002, to ftp files to remote servers for many years. We have now had a requirement to send via secure ftp. We are using R/3 4.6C. Unfortunatley this is not a straight forward change and it seems we may need to install some client software to enable this.
    I have searched for any SAP notes and in several user groups but have not been too sucessful.
    Has anyone ever set this up before? What client software did you use?
    Any pointers / advice on this would be much appreciated.
    Many thanks,
    Steven

    Further to my initial post, I have now discovered that there are additional options on the ftp command on iseries, so I am hoping if I can perform this manaully, then a CL called from SAP would allow me to resolve this challenge.
    I am trying to use the command below but this will use the port 990.
    FTP RMTSYS(INTNETADR) INTNETADR('*.*.*.*') PORT(SECURE) SECCNN(*SSL)
    The vendor is requesting that we use port 443 for secure ftp with SSL and even specifying this in the command as below still does not work. It seems to me there may be an issue at the receiving end. Port 443 is normally used for https so not sure whether specifying this port could cause issues. The resultant error is below.
    FTP RMTSYS(INTNETADR) INTNETADR('*.*.*.*') PORT(443) SECCNN(SSL)
    Connecting to remote host 62.39.53.181 using port 443.
    No response from remote host; all connections closed.
    Any other comments would be welcomed.
    Many thanks,

  • Need help to Configure FTPS connection for File Sender Adapter

    Hi,
    I want to Configure, FTPS connection (Secured Connection) for File Sender Adapter. Could anyone please guide me, what Information I require to configure. I just want to know what Information should I request the team inorder the configure FTPS so that it can be deployed properly.
    I have checked with [SAP Help Link|http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/EN/e3/94007075cae04f930cc4c034e411e1/content.htm] and while configuring the communication channel found that I need Keystore and the X.509 Certificate and Private Key.  which needs to be deployed on the J2EE server by using the Visual Administrator.
    Is there anything else, I need to configure.
    Any help would be appreciated in this regard.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Varun.K

    The basic things are Certificate/Keys which you already know. Usually it is enough for running a sceanrio.
    However, if you have additional requirements, like FTPS for "Connection Security" for encryption, then you may need additional details like commands. Rest all settings are same as FTP.

  • FTPs connection error:When using Variable substitution for Directory path

    Hi
    I am transferring data from BI to xml file via PI: Here a Client proxy from BI sends the data to PI and the PI FTPs the XML file to a remote location. For FTP I am using FTPs SSL connection.
    It was working fine untill I used Variable susbstitution to determine Directory path dynamically. I am using this because different xml files are intended to goto the different locations.
    I did the variable substitution like this:
    Target Message Structure:
    ---> Target Directory: %var1%
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" ?>
    <MT_BI_EXTRACT_FILE>
      <Header>
         <Directory>/Customer</Directory>
    </Header>
    <Detail>
    </Detail>
       </MT_BI_EXTRACT_FILE>
    And in the variable substitution I am doing it this way
    payload:MT_BI_EXTRACT_FILE,1,Header,1,Directory,1
    And the error I am getting is:
    Attempt to process file failed with Error when getting an FTP connection from connection pool: com.sap.aii.af.service.util.concurrent.ResourcePoolException: Unable to create new pooled resource: iaik.security.ssl.SSLException: Peer sent alert: Alert Fatal: handshake failure

    Does anybody have some Idea of this ??
    Regards
    Naina

    Hi,
    I guess the problem is not with Variable Substitution..
    Error when getting an FTP connection from connection pool:
    So its a connection problem..
    Also check the option Disable Security check and try again...
    Try to check again if the interface is executing properly without Variable substitution and let us know..

  • FILE adapter with secure FTP

    Hi experts,
    i have scenario file to file scenario, communication should  happen in secure connection .i searched in blogs & forums
    please find berlow forum
    How to configure SFTP Adapter in XI?
    in that 2 nd reply
    there is one option :2. Use the FTP adapter, and encrypt/decrypt the file contents through a user exit in the adapter. Something on the FTP server side will have to do the same.
    can anyone please elaborate this one & where can i find user exit  for the file adapter.
    please help is there any option to provide secure cinnection in file adapter (FTP) like using run operating system command befor or after message processing
    Thanks In advance

    I think  that you can solve in 4 different ways:
    -> Using FTPS connection
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/e3/94007075cae04f930cc4c034e411e1/frameset.htm
    -> Using a 3rd Party Adapter (Seeburger or Aedaptive) for PGP or deploying a custom adapter for PGP
    http://www.seeburger.com/9468/
    -> PGP OS Level (Installing a PGP software like GnuPGP in your system) Install the PGP software in XI and write the OS command for encryption and decryption at OS level. Call this command in File adapter after or before message processing
    PGP ncryption
    -> Using an UDF
    Check this links:

  • FTPS connection error in the adapter monitoring

    Hi people,
    I make a FTPS connection and the adapter monitor give me this error:
    Error: Error connecting to ftp server 'ithppbd0':
    ConnectException: Connection timed out (errno:238)
    I use a certificate to make this connection.
    Is obligatory the use of the private key? or I can use a public key and how?
    Thanks!

    You may verify the URL, Login ID and Password with logging in via a browser or command prompt.
    Some FTP sites allow only a limited number of connections, so check with the FTP site administrator. In the adapter, make sure that you have specified the correct Connection Security and the Command Order.
    FTPS does not need the keys, unless you have specified the X.509 Cetificate for Client Authentication.
    Lastly, Make sure that the connect mode is per File Transfer.
    Hope this helps,
    Bhanu

  • Time to time its giving error in the FTP connection

    Hi Gurus,
    Im doing File to File Interface. Im using FTP for File transfer and the message protocol is 'File'.  Im using the connection security as 'FTPS(FTP Using SSL/TLS) for control and data connection' and set the default command order.
        I have uploaded the required certificate in the FTP server and the XI server also. I can view the certificate in the keystore of visual Administrator. Its working fine. But the problem is time to time its giveing this error "Error occurred while connecting to the FTP server "170.135.128.149:20021": iaik.security.ssl.SSLCertificateException: Peer certificate rejected by ChainVerifier"
    Can anyone please help to resolve this issue. i need to fix it as soon as possible.
    Regards,
    Rama

    Hi All,
      I m facing one peculiar problem with FTP server. I have desinged one R3 to FTP interface. I m trying to connect to FTP with secure SSL connection. For that we uploaded the certificate in the FTP as well as in the Visual administartor in the XI box. I didnt create any SSL socket for this. Our basis team told like we dont need this SSL socket stuff because here we are using FTP as a client. So just they uploaded the certificate in the trusted CA of Visual administartor. Our certificate is obtained from verisign. So the CN name in the certificate is Verisign. I didnt find any thing in the certificate other then this. In our communication channel we gave the hostname instead of IP address.  But here my problem is, When i send the file to FTP its giving error in the first attempt. After that the message retiried itslef, the file has been sent successfull in the retry process. Why it is always fails in the first attempt.
    Can anyone please help me to resolve this. I need to be fix today itself.
    Regards,
    Rama

  • Qosmio F30-117: Unable to make FTP connections

    I have Qosmio F30-117, windows XP, Norton Internet security.
    When I attempt to FTP to my website I get FTP connection failed.
    I have tried on friends computer and connection was made first time.
    When I attached my laptop to his Broadband connection - no FTp. This at least eliminates my router.
    I have tried to disbale parts of Norton Internet Security with no success.
    Help???

    Hi,
    so if I were you I would completely disable the Norton software and make sure the Windows Firewall is letting you trough. Otherwise you should check if your friend has set up everything correctly. If you want to test it that your machine is able to connect over FTP, then go to www.kernel.org and grab some ftp address.
    Then open your favorite FTP client and try to connect. If the connection really fails then double check all settings and try it again. I think the problem is so small that everyone just oversees it. ;)

  • Can Dreamweaver do explicit SSL/TLS FTP Connections?

    Hi,
    I posted this before, but never got a clear answer. Then again, my question wasn't phrased very clearly.
    I am currently unable to connect to our testing server via Dreamweaver (but can via CuteFTP) because :
    "The FTP settings for the server are explicit SSL/TLS (sometimes called Auth/TLS) and port 500."
    That's what the tech guy at the other end emailed me. So while I am able to specify the port via ":" prefix in the FTP host name, I am unable to find anything that allows me to select explicit SSL/TLS encryption. This is what's preventing me from connecting with Dreamweaver CS4.
    Does anyone know of a way for me to connect via explicit SSL/TLS? Perhaps a Dreamweaver extension, even?
    Thanks!

    I just sent the following request in to the engineers.
    *******Enhancement / FMR*********
    I'm webmaster for a new client, and couldn't connect to their servers properly with Dreamweaver. When I asked their tech people on the other end why I'm having such difficulty, they wrote back :
    "The FTP settings for the server are explicit SSL/TLS (sometimes called Auth/TLS) and port 500."
    According to Adobe Forums community expert David Powers, "FTP is not the strongest of Dreamweaver's features. It supports Secure FTP (SFTP) and the IPv6 protocol, but not SSL. I suggest that you submit a feature request to Adobe through the official form."
    Because of this, I will more than likely have to find other software than Dreamweaver to execute my tasks.
    Please include the necessary encryption methods in a future update, or even an extension.
    Thanks!

  • FTP Connection Issue in Dreamweaver CS4

    I just reinstalled Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit and of course had to reinstall Design Premium CS4. Up until now Dreamweaver CS4 (Version 10.0 Build 4117) has connected to ftp flawlessly, however ever since I reinstalled I have been receiving the "An FTP error occurred - cannot make connection to host. The remote host cannot be found" error message.
    What I have tried so far:
    I have double checked that my login information is correct
    I have successfully logged in to the ftp server using another ftp client and through a browser
    Through Dreamweaver I have tried using passive FTP, secure FTP, firewall and none of those settings make a difference.
    I receive the error message whether I click "test" or try to connect through the files panel .
    I have checked my firewall settings and Dreamweaver is an allowed program.
    I don't have access to another ftp server to check if would work in that situation.
    I have uninstalled and reinstalled both Dreamweaver and the entire suite.
    Is there anything else that I need to do?
    Thanks in advance for any help.

    This is a maddening issue that's getting press in various forums, here and on Adobe's site, and all sorts of third party blogs, etc. I spent days wrestling with this with no luck, because in CS3, which I"ve been using for years under OS X, Extension Manager is broken (under Mountain Lion, at least). Installed CS4, CS5—nothing worked. The ""can't connect" error message appears instantly, suggesting that DW wasn't even trying to make the FTP connection, which led me to suspect Little Snitch or some other firewall issue, but this wasn't the case. I isolated login items, repaired permissions, booted in Safe Mode—all with no luck. Finally, I tried opening DW from a different user login and FTP connected. This, at least in my case, pointed to something in the user folder. I narrowed it down to the User/Library folder. Creating a new user and copying the Library folder over copied over the problem, as expected. New user was deleted, and I wen tinto the troublemaking User/Library folder to see what I could see. There were old files and folders there from previous installs, including CS3—speciifically in the User/Library/Application Support folder and, of course, in User/Library/Preferences. After deleting thiese, I found no further problems connecting via FTP in DW CS4. I presume that CS5 also would connect now, but I'm not keen to put it to the test. Under CS4, Extension Manager works fine, which is what I was looking to accomplish in upgrading from CS3. Moral of the story: Adobe CS installations do not like legacy files and folder either in User/Library/Application Support or User/Library/Preferences. Deleting these may work for you, too—at least it's another string to the troubleshooting bow, and this one can be a real bear. Good luck to all who have run into this.
