I know flash has seek bar component for flv videos but I'm
streaming music from net. I have a code for loading entire song but
is it possible to add a seek bar to show what part of song is
playing

Yes, if you just want to track the progress of the sound
file's playing, its pretty simple. You'll need a couple of
variables, one to hold the value of the sound file's duration. And
another to define the width of the seek bar object.
In your download complete function give the duration variable
the value of the sound's duration property. Then assign an
enterframe function to update the seek bar. Just take the
soundChannel.position property value and divide it by the sound
file's duration property value. This will give you a ratio of the
current position relative to the total time. Then multiply that
value by the total width of the seek bar. Position the marker at
that point on the seek bar.

I am having trouble with the handle bars for music fade in and fade out. It doesn't work. I also cannot see wave forms for music. Cannot select - it is grey. On a deadline and really having problems.

I am trying to finish a video and I want to fade the music in and out. I have read every tutorial I can get and the help info in iMovie. Nothing helsp. I cannot get it to fade by just sliding the handle bars. Other times, the music mutes completely when I try to add a fade. A tip though - if you have a transition at the start or end of a clip it often obscures the fade handle. Trick is to temporarly move the transition (or delete it), move the fade handle then replace the transition.

Appearane of 'Music' functions (I>> > II <<I, plus volume slider) on the lock/log in screen (when first turning on the iPhone) thus far seems without pattern, i.e. regardless of which if any applications are up in the background, and indeed even when all have been quit.
All visual aspects of 'Music' appear normal after launch including the title scroll across the top in vertical mode. However, while pressing play (>) converts the play (>) icon to pause (II), selected song does not play and the elapsed time bar (upper end between the track count and the repeat/shuffle icons) remains stationary at 0:00 or at any point to which it is dragged. When using home sharing this same problem persists regardless of what output is selected.
Hope that may prompt a thought somewhere.

Which version of iTunes and which iPod Classic model are you using?
Have you tried to Reset the iPod and download again?

Apple made no mention of this being an expected issue, so I can only assume it's unintentional. Otherwise I wouldn't have subscribed to Match in the first place!

How big is your library? I would recommend the following troubleshooting steps:
- Backup your library. Always a good idea before messing with things.
- Create a new library.   Refer to this article for details: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1589. This won't delete your old library, you're just creating a new empty one. Also refer to this article to get back to your old library later.
- Add a few albums into this new library. Not everything, just a small sampling, as a test.
- Activate Match on this new library. You shouldn't have to re-pay, it should just say "Add Computer" or similar.
- At this point, Match should run again. With just a few albums it should complete in just a few minutes.
If iTunes doesn't crash at this point, then likely there's something about your original library that Match doesn't like - what that is I don't know, but at least you'll know it's not your PC.   If iTunes still crashes, then if could be a number of other things, but probably not your library.   My next suggestion (if you haven't already done this) is to uninstall / reinstall iTunes.   If that doesn't work, then my next ideas you won't like.

iTunes has not had a sidebar for over a year. You can see one (as iTunes 10 used to show) by doing View > Show Sidebar from iTunes' menu.
But I'm not sure if that is your issue. You do not need a sidebar to do home sharing. Are you running the current iTunes (11.1.3)? Have you turned on sharing in Preferences? Have you done File > Turn on Home Sharing?

The above is what the bar says. It's been a while and wondered, maybe Apple changed the format for forums. Then got this nice big blank canvas to air my concerns. Went to school for Computer Science, BSEE, even worked at Analog Devices in Newton Massachusetts, where they make something for apple.
The bottom line is fast CPU = more FPU = more headroom and still can't figure out why the more cores= the slower it gets unless it's to get us in to a 6 core then come out with faster cores down the road or a newer Mac that uses the GPU. Also. Few. I'm the guy who said a few years ago Mac has an FCP that looks like iMovie on Steroids. Having said that I called the campus one day to ask them something and while I used to work for Apple, I think she thought I still did as she asked me, "HOW ARE THE 32 CORES/1DYE COMING ALONG? Not wanting to embarrass her I said fine, fine and then hung up. Makes the most sense as I never quite got the 2,6,12 cores when for years everything from memory to CPU's have been, in sets of 2 to the 2nd power. 2,4,8,16,32,64,120,256,512, 1024, 2048,4196,8192, 72,768. Wow. W-O-W and will be using whatever I get with Apollo Quad.

I do believe that the ability for your Apple TV to airplay audio to external devices was added just in the most recent update, that was released when iOS 6 was released if I'm correct, so there might not be any that specifically mention that yet.
Since it uses AirPlay I'd assume any AirPlay compatible speaker would work, but I would look into it more before spending your money, just in case.

Try:
- iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
- Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- Try another cable
- Try on another computer
- If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

Zshare streaming: Seek bar doesn't fully work

When occasionally watching a zshare stream (dislike downloading, takes too long, rather wait a few minutes and then start watching the stream), the stream loads just fine, I can click on the seek bar to make it start from a different position, and it can do this just great.
The video can stream, and it can save itself temporarily for me to watch when I'm comfortable.
The problem I'm having is, I simply can't click the seek bar unless I want to scrap all the data downloaded so far. Clicking on the seek bar (even if the video is fully loaded) will reset all data and start restreaming all over again.
Is this a firefox problem? Zshare simply doesn't allow this function, even though giving me a seek bar makes me assume it does support it...
Megavideo, Youtube, Veoh and many other video streaming services have a fully functioning streaming feature. Zshare simply won't work...
Any help is appreciated.

Which is better MBPr for music production? 8gb or 16gb

Hi everyone:
I am seeking suggestions here from fellow music artists/ DJs and tech wizards to help me make the "right" decision in where to invest my money.
I don't know wether to buy the base model MBPr 15inch with 2.0Ghz Quad Core i7, 8gb ram and 256 flash drive. I am a musician and this laptop will solve two purposes
1) Usual everyday Microsoft Office kinda stuff and web surfing and
2) More importantly for Music production using Logic Pro X, Ableton 9 using KONTAKT and Omnisphere along with Reason Rewire for loops.
THEREFORE, now I am second guessing my purchase on two aspects -->
1) Is the 8GB enough to run, say a typical setup of Ableton along with 2-3 vsts softwares, would these specs on the MBPr last about 3-5 years?
2) Is the 256 GB SSD going to be an issue with file sizes? I mean like I can always transfer stuff to an external drive and keep creating space but then its almost like having a McLaren SLR and running it constantly on EMPTY and getting gas filled in it every 2 miles. Idk....
Any advise, nudge in the right direction, suggestions, recommendations would be much appreciated. . Is 8gb of ram enough? I am more on the 8gb ram side because of money issue also the place I am buying is offering 10% discount (cannot configure with the specs) I want to be happy with my purchase, but I don't want to be 2 years down the road kicking myself for not having gone with the 16GB and bigger SSD.

Well I ended up going with the 16GB Retina MBP. For the simple reason that the 8GB would've seen me constantly second guess my decision. Plus I wanted to "future proof" myself as best as I could knowing that these babies cannot be 'upgraded' with additional ram at a later date due the whole soldered RAM issue. So yeah I shelled out some extra money, bought my rMBP from B&H in NYC through their webstore and saved a ton on not having to pay sales tax since I am not a resident of NY state.
Another thing I'd like to recommend to you is that if you plan on running a number of VSTs or AUs with your DAW especially of the nature of heavy sound libraries such as Spectrasonics Omnisphere or KOMPLETE then I would highly highly recommend purchasing a Lacie 2 or 3TB 7200 RPM external drive. I wish I had known this earlier but an incredibly efficient (and correct) way to run DAW with sound libraries to load your VSTs on an external drive which is either a fast SSD or at least a 7200 RPM. This way your system drive doesn't get overloaded reading and writing at the same time between multiple programs running in parallel. Once your system drive runs the DAW and the system accesses the sound libraries through and external drive, it makes for a much more efficiently managed read/write process.
I hope this helps. My mantra for technology is, when in doubt go with max specs on a machine.

Quit iTunes...
Download Cocktail and start the program... click on the 'interface' Icon and tick 'Show Invisible Items' then click the Restart button...
In a finder window click on the Icon that is your Boot Volume in the Side Bar ... select users ... select shared folder ... select the folder named 'SC info' and put it in the trash and empty it ... Do Not touch any other file.
Pathway looks like this HD > users > shared > SC info > SC Info.sidb
Go back to the Cocktail 'interface' window and untick Show Invisible Items and click restart .. quit Cocktail.
Start iTunes after deletinng this folder and it will prompt you to enter your authorization information again ... see now if your problem still exists...

FLV player seek bar

this may be a really dumb question, but this is all new to
me. Show a noob some sympathy.
I've created a FLV with On2, and used the insert Flash Video
command in Dreamweaver 8. the video plays well, the skin shows up,
but there is no visible progress being recorded in the seek bar.
Meaning, there's no bar that grows longer as more of the video is
downloaded. The playhead moves along well, and I can scrub across
the video that has been downloaded, but I can't see how much of the
file has been downloaded. I just have to guess.
How can I remedy this problem? is it actionScript? adding a
parameter? Do I need to do it in Flash or can it be done in
Dreamweaver?
I've been searching for solutions to no avail, so any help
would be greatly appreciated.

Downgrading the iOS is not supported by Apple.
Try:
- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Unsync all music and resync
- Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
- Restore from backup. See:

- Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

DVR w/ FLVPlayback 2.5.0.15 & Custom Publishing Client - Seek Bar Not Working [updated]

Hello.
So I've got the DVRCast application installed, and I am successfully streaming live-DVR content to the updated FLVPlayback component. I'm able to access the DVR-specific metadata (e.g. "currLen") without any trouble, and so forth.
When I record with the Flash Live Encoder, everything works correctly; the seek bar fills in as more content is published, and the playhead advances slowly across the filled-in section of the seek bar.
But when I do the publishing with a custom client instead of Flash Live Encoder, the seek bar doesn't work right. Specifically, when I start viewing a stream which is still being broadcast live, the seek bar shows the length of the stream at the moment I started viewing it; however, the seek bar doesn't update correctly as new content continues to be appended to the end of the stream. What happens instead is that the "playhead" (not sure of the proper terminology here) moves along the seek bar until it reaches the end, and then it just sits at the end -- and the seek bar itself starts expanding to the right, off the edge of the stage!
So I assume the problem here is that I need to add some code to the publishing client. Here's the meat of the publishing code (from MyDVRPublish.as, which is the document class for MyDVRPublish.fla):

Unfortunately, I don't know of a tutorial that builds a custom client that publishes to DVRCast, but Graeme Bull created a great video tutorial that should help:

Before Adobe published the DVRCast app, Graeme played around with FMLE3 and figured out what calls it was making to the server and built his own DVRCast app. I know this is the inverse of what you want to do, but watching him reverse engineer FMLE's calls to the server will show you how to make your own publishing client.
Also, you check out the DVRCast code at rootinstall\applications\dvrcast_origin\scripts to see exactly what the DVRCast app expects the publishing client to call (and what it expects the subscribing client to call).
Roughly:
The DVRCast docs have a code example on page 11 that calls DVRSetStreamInfo. After the publisher calls DVRSetStreamInfo with the name of the DVR stream and calls NetStream.publish("streamname", "record"|"append"), the subscribing client calls DVRGetStreamInfo to get the name of the DVRStream. The subscribing client then passes the name of the DVRStream in a call to DVRSubscribe. Finally, the subscribing client calls NetStream.play("streamname", 0, -1) to play the stream.
I'll get a tutorial up as soon as I can (unless someone beats me to it), but unfortunately I have to hit some deadlines today on other projects.
