Seek to a point in video?

I'm trying to figure out a way to use jQuery to seek to a point in an HTML5 video. This tutorial actually gives an example of how to do it using JavaScript, but I'm not sure if it will work in Edge Animate or not. It's not really jQuery, is it? Has anyone tried to do this in Animate yet?

Page not found error on your link...

Sure - Animate entirely supports Javascript, and jQuery is just a (highly useful) Javascript library.
I suspect the example you saw is just using the currentTime property with the play method. If you can control it with Javascript, it can do so when issued from Animate.

  • How to play share point library video in custom web part

Hi  ,i want to play my share point library videos and computer videos  in custom web part , how can i do this ,playing static video and library video both are common.
    Thanks,

Do you want to create a player from scratch or use eg. the Silverlight media player:
    http://jomit.blogspot.de/2009/12/using-silverlight-media-player-of.html
or   alternatively html5 and the <video> element (will probably require a couple of tweaks in the master page) ?

  • Seek to cue point

    quick scenario:
I have several videos (flvs) that i am trying to make play
one right after the other. I figured out how to make my "fast
forward" btn work by just easily using
    _root.display.seekToNextNavCuePoint();
and setting up the last cuePoint in every video to lead to a
frame with the next video loaded.
But now the kicker, the back btn. I can easily seek to the
prev cue point but what happens when you get to the end of the
video. I've been setting it up so that when the
    _root.display.playheadTime < 1
it will go back a frame with code that will take it to the
last cue point of the prev video.
Now this is what i don't know, how can i tell it what
cuePoint to goto in the video? I've tried seekToNavCuePoint("place
cue point here") and a few other options and nothing is working.
Can you not go to an embedded navigational cue point? if so how do
    i do that?
    tried setting up a variable called: var flvcontrol = display;
thinking that would make it easier to call but alas i'm out of
options. Really gotta figure this out by tomorrow anybody around to
    help a loss soul?
    Thank you,
    !!!!

    You will get there.
Based on their swf (save it and look into its guts) - they use 3D methodologies with Away3D package. Although there is learning curve involved - it is not a rocket science.
Again, at the expense of coming out negative, I would advise anyone to have a great deal of sarcasm and cynicism when “best in business award” is flushing. From my experience in the majority of cases it is all a contrived self-indulging brain-wash PR fluff. I must admit that I was a part of this propaganda machines on numerous occasions. Best things rarely come from corporate pipes anyway. Bad quality has little to do with developers but rather with ignorant executives.
On a constructive note, if you don’t feel like you up to dealing with 3D graphics you can continue with the video idea.
You have at least two options:
    1.    As other guys suggested – encode your video with as many key frames as feasible.
    2.    Embed video on timeline (perhaps on a timeline of library MovieClip symbol).
When the above is done – you will need to record segments that are played as needed and manipulate NetStream or timeline of MovieClip with video accordingly.
Interactive elements will reside above video.
Again, perhaps it will be the easiest way to implement the functionality you desire.

  • Is it possible to set IN/OUT points for video effects within a single clip in PE4?

    Hello,
In PE4, Is it possible to use keyframes to simply turn certain video effects on/off at different points within a single clip ?
Some effects (i.e. Invert)have a Blend With Original setting which makes this easy to achieve, but others (i.e. Ripple)do not.
I understand how to use keyframes to adjust effect properties at different points within a clip, I just can't find a way to simply 'turn-off' or bypass an effect for a period of time.
    Thanks All, CB

    Chris,
As Steve points out, most Effects are OFF, by default (usually setting their parameters to 0). I just add a Keyframe for that Effect, with those properties, where you want the Effect to be OFF (but check that each Effect that you use starts as OFF, just to be sure). Then, in between the OFF settings, I add Keyframes with the desired parameters to invoke that particular Effect.
One can also use the Razor/Sissors to cut the Clip into segments (just do not move them) to keep the Keyframes in one area of the original Clip. I usually work on the entire Clip, as once the Keyframe is set to OFF for that Effect, no more Keyframes are needed.
Some Effects also have a Bypass setting, that can be Keyframed (in P Pro, and assume in PE). This can be handy to fully turn OFF any Effect. Note: even in P Pro, not all Effects have a Bypass setting.
As usual with PE (and P-Pro and PS), there can be a couple of ways to accomplish the same thing. One can choose the method that suits them best.
    Good luck,
    Hunt

  • Jumping to Specific URL from a cue point in video

    Hello,
I am having a video play within flash CS3 and it does fine.
Now, I need to tell Flash that when it reaches cue point "end", it
should go to a specific web page. How can this be accomplished? I
am new to Actionscript 3.0 and after trying different things, I
don't seem to be able to accomplish this.
    Thanks all.

Why yes indeed, just move the mouse to where you want to start playing on the timeline. Now press on the Spacebar and Voila, it starts playing from that point forward. Stop, just hit spacebar again. It's like play/pause button on a cd player or vcr.

  • Pure Digital Point & Shoot videos Not Displaying in iMovie

Just imported some clips from the 60 minute Pure Digital "Point & Shoot" into iMovie on a brand new iMac. The videos play the sound, but give a white screen on the video.
The clips will play from the Point & Shoot software, but not in iMovie.
I downloaded DivX, as I thought that might be the issue, but no go.
    Any suggestions?

    Hi Scott:
    Welcome to discussions!
the files that that camera uses are not really MPEG4. So, they need to be converted.
ffmpeg can convert them (needs 2 passes) to real MP4 files that will import to Quick Time or iMovie if you have a G4 or better Mac. The website is below:

Hi i have a ibook g3 clamshell indigo "Paris" Edition.
The Black Mac Mouse Pointer is the one from like OS 9 and OS X 10.1 its not the new one.
Also It works great with typing applications painting using the internet and listening to music in itunes 7. but when i go to youtube or try to watch any video it skips.
Also why when updating in panther it says "Optimizing volume "Mac HD"
Note: i have just erase and installed Panther.

    Mac OS X Panther 10.3.9

Unfortunately, the flash-based Youtube movies ask too much of the iBook hardware.
    My workaround:
Save Youtube movies with a little help from keepvid.com
    http://keepvid.com/
    in mp4 format.
    The freeware video player VLC
    http://www.videolan.org/vlc/download-macosx.html
(OSX 10.3.9 at least for the current version), is able to play these files even on a 300MHZ Blueberry or Tangerine iBook in its original resolution. The option to skip frames should be activated.
If you own a 366MHZ or 466MHZ Clamshell with 8MB graphics try Youtube on OS9.
With the Mozilla-based OS9 Wamcom browser
    http://wamcom.org/latest-131/
and the appropriate Flash Player plug-in
    http://kb.adobe.com/selfservice/viewContent.do?externalId=d9c2fe33
(you have to place it manually in the wamcom plug-in directory) you are able to play them directly - the design and performance is still not perfect.

  • Dual Layer break point - multiple videos

It could be that you have exceeded the disc size, but assuming you haven't there has to be a break point where it crosses over from Layer 0 to Layer 1, if you have no Chapter Markers at all (or a limited number of Markers, none of which fall near the point which is a bit more than half the size of the assets you will get an error that a Layer is the wrong size.
    What you do is
1.) Set up markers in the areas where your would guesstimate the Layer Break(s) should be. (You can build the project and use VTS view to see where about halfway plus a bit is located and make sure to put a few markers in the track in that VTS. Take a look [here|http://dvdstepbystep.com/vts.php] for looking at VTS and builds to see a bit more on that.)
2.) Build the project (but not format)
3.) Format a Disc (in the dialog that comes up, click on advanced tab, then where it says break point, use the pulldown which will have all valid breakpoint markers dark/black, while non-valid Layer Break Markers will be faded) If no marker is black there is no marker in the right place, regardless of you use automatic or not.
4.) If the layer break(s) are not where you would like them (in other words a place where they may be more noticable) use VTS view to re-order then go back to step 1.
If you have not made audio AC3, you should encode to AC3.

  • Captivate 8 Edit mouse points for video demo not available??

    Hello,
I've been trying to fig out how to enable mouse point editing for a video demo in Captivate 8. I know in previous versions it was simply edit >>> mouse points and even documentation I've read states its the same for captivate 8 but when I go to the edit menu I don't' have an option for edit mouse points. this is in both Mac and PC version. I did find the options adding a mouse to the recording but that doesn't help with editing the actual mouse in the video.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks

After a little more experimentation I see that this feature is only available in a .cpvc not a .cptx. with a video in it.

  • Seeking broad guidance on home video scheme

    Hello,
I'm interested in resources anyone can point to that provides  guidance  on designing a home-video set up.
For example, after many years and many tweaks, I've found a flow that works very well for my photos; folder structure, naming convention, face tags, content tags, etc.  It has taken a while, but my photos are now stored in a way that I can access them intuitively based on what I'm looking for....
I'm still a bit lost when it comes to the best set-up for videos.  I know there are MANY factors, and no solution works for everyone.  I'd be interested to hear how other folks have arranged their 'archiving scheme' to store and allow intuitive access to their home videos.  I'm sure there are many factors I haven't even considered and tips I would never think of....  looking forward to some wisdom from the community.
Though I'm most interested in just learning how other folks have designed their systems, here's a brief snapshot of where I am, and hope to go:
Context: basic every day family home videos / memories
Source: raw unedited video from past 12 years or so, in several formats (still on 8mm needing to be captured, .mod files, 720 mp4 files,)
    Goal is to
Choose output format (I realize there's no single good answer). I am flexible on space/quality tradeoffs.
I'm thinking I want to avoid DVDs: access from PC and from Apple TV device (jailbroken, will accept pretty much any video format).
Considering no DVDs, would love tips on meaningful folder/naming structure, etc. to make accessing videos intuitive based on context of an event (do you put that week vacation in one 40min video file, or is there elegant way to arrange multiple files.. etc)
Again, I know there are no perfect answers - but would love advice and thoughts from the group.
    Thanks All,  Chris.

Hello Steve and all, Thanks very much for your help with my post.
I think the most straightforward way for me to ask would be this:
Similar to retiring the CD player in favor of digital music players, I would like to avoid using DVDs to store/access home video, in favor of hard-disk storage, and accessing the videos directly on the PC and other digital devices on my home network (specifics below)
The immediate drawback I can see to this is losing the 'chapter' or 'scene' functionality of a DVD.  If I have a 60min video of a birthday party, it would be simple to set the DVD up with chapters to easily navigate to the scenes I want.
Any thoughts on ways to mimic this functionality when setting up a HDD based storage/access scheme ?
Below are answers to your specific questions.  Thanks again for your input !!
Camcorder models (I have video from several sources over dozen years.  So, some is old, some is newer)
    1. Hi8mm - still on tape (have not captured it yet)
    2. JVC Everio .mod files
    3. Kodak playsport zx5.
    Archiving for future projects?
My goal is to go through all the video, cut out the 'junk' and produce final cut videos, typically based on the event.
Example: Take all 54 .mod files from a birthday party and make a single video for the event. Or, perhaps down to a couple of files to mimic the functionality of chapters on a DVD ?.....  open to thoughts from those who've been down that road.
The bulk of video from over the years is either still analog, or .mod files standard def..  Moving forwad, all new video is Hi Def. Currently 720 mp4.
So, I will likely have final video in low and hi def ??
720 mp4s are from the Kodak PlaySport I've had for a short time.
How do I plan to display video?
    1. Hoping to avoid DVDs altogether in favor of hard drive based system. Storage will be on desktop system in 'office' room of house.
    2. Primary viewing on living room tv via Apple TV2 (specifics below).
    3. Secondary viewing directly on storage / multimedia PC in 'office' room of house.
4.Would like to be able to access from iPad / iPhone around the house. Not necessary to be able to view remotely.
Videos would be delivered to Apple TV2 over wireless home network, direclty from a 'multimedia' pc.  The PC is wired into router, Apple TV is wireless.  It seems to perform well at streaming HD video from PC over wireless network.
Thanks again for your kind help !!
    Chris.

  • AVI setting for importing Canon point/shoot video

I have a Canon Powershot SX110 that i use as a quick use backup.  The video files are AVI (see below properties).  I'm not sure if I'm importing incorrectly or have wrong presets, but the file seems very jerky in the preview window, even more so than HD vidoe.
Is there a setting i'm missing?
    many thanks.
    Type: AVI Movie
    File Size: 519.2 MB
    Image Size: 640 x 480
    Pixel Depth: 0
    Frame Rate: 30.00
Source Audio Format: 11024 Hz - 8 bit - Mono
Project Audio Format: 11025 Hz - 32 bit floating point - Mono
    Total Duration: 00:04:50:12
Average Data Rate: 1.8 MB / second
    Pixel Aspect Ratio: 1.0

My system is way UNDER powered.
Its a single core P4 with 3GB Ram
I also tried converting to the 44.1 kHz with 16 bit stereo but no luck.
It could just be a computer problem.
I get mixed results when playing HDV but my SD plays great.
Were in the process of moving but once were done a new Core i7 has my name on it.
Im sure allot of my problems will go away once i get more power.
I will try the same files once I get a new system just for a test.
Just as a test I unlinked the audio and deleted it and the video still would not play.
Thanks for the tip on Zoombrowser.  I didnt even think of it for doing a convert.
    Enjoy:  Glenn

  • Scrubber snaps back to specific points in video. Why?

I'm downloading & watching videos on iTunes U from the University of Tennessee. When I try to rewind (either by touching the rewind button or dragging the scrubber on the iPhone), I'm unable to obtain the exact position I want.
Instead, the video snaps back to specific positions in the timeline. For example, trying to move to the 3:00 mark in the video always jumps back to the start. The video also likes to stop at 3:19 and 4:44, but I can't move to positions BETWEEN these specific time points.
Are there "key frames" or something similar at play here? Can I get around this? Thanks!

It's weird. The phone (and its video playing functionality) is working great on all the files except these specific ones from iTunes U.
