  • Custom report to disvover duplicate login name and computer

    Hi all,
I need to create a custom report which shows a same login name use on many computer in ZAM 7.5.
could you please help me to choose the good option on a custom report creation ?
    Thank all,
    Frnchtch

Here's one method using the Custom reports console. Not the best mind you but quick to setup if you just need results on who the dups are.
    Go to Custom reports
Select New Report (Type = Workstation; Focus = Basic workstation attributes)
In column selection place "Login Name"
In summary criteria select "Workstation Instances (Summary) > 1
Save with a name like "Duplicate Logins
    Run report

  • Is this slow performance when importing CD's into iTunes ?

    Hi,
My new iMac 20" arrived this weekend. Since then I've been getting acquainted, being new to Macs. I wanted to build up my iTunes library, so I grabbed a box of my CDs and began importing them one by one. I was expecting my new iMac to really fly through them after reading the reviews of how much faster the new Core 2 Duo are over previous iMacs. I remember a table of stats in the MacWorld reviews, and for iTunes test, these machines were clocked at under 2 minutes for whatever it was they ripped in iTunes. YMMV certainly applies, but I was setting my expectation that my iMac could rip a CD in 2 - 3 minutes.
Umm, my experience is way off that. In fact, I would say my iMac took about as long to rip a CD as my 7 year old Dell PC with 256 MB of mem and a first gen Pent 5.
I decided to pick a CD and time how long it takes to import on my iMac, then take same CD and time how long it takes to import into iTunes on his new PC.
CD - Rush, Moving Pictures, 7 songs, 39.8 min, 403.1 MB
    Encoding - AAC, 192 kbps
My rig - iMac 20", 2 GB RAM, 256 MB VRAM, Core 2 Duo and 250 HB with latest version of OS X
My son's rig - intel D955xbklkr socket 775 atx mobo, intel pentium D840 3.2 GHz processor, Corsair twinx pc5400 DDR2 667 Mhz mem ( 2 x 1024 mb ), HD - Seagate 250 GB SATA2 7K with 16 MB buffer, Pioneer DVR-111D DVD burner, and XFX 7600GS extreme graphics card, Win XP Pro, SP2 ( we built this beast with gaming in mind, with his own money ) * the CPU and memory are NOT overclocked and no other tweaks. just build it, install it and run it.
    The results:
    iMac - 7 minutes
    PC - 2 minutes
I ran the import twice on each machine and came up with the same results.
Neither machine was running anything else at the time.
Granted there are some differences between the machines that should account for some differences, especially on the hard drive, with SATA2 and a nice 16 MB cache ( it's one sweet HD ) on the PC, but this difference is huge. We're not talking 20, 40 or 60 % faster on the PC. This was > 3x faster, so basically over 300% faster.
Anyone have an idea ? Without digging into the specs, I'd say the DVD drives should be able to read equally fast, the Core 2 Duo 2.1 GHz with 4 MB cache should be equal if not superior to the older, D 820 3.2 GHz, the memory is the same speed, but I'm not sure about system bus speed on the P C ( 800 MHz ? ). Graphics cards don't factor into this equation, but the HD probably plays a big role, and I think the Seagate in my son's PC has the iMac beat hands down.
What are other iMac C2D owners seeing for average import times ?
    Thanks,
    Bill

    Trevor,
When you say your superdrive rips, the import speeds are typically around 20x, what encoding method and bit rate are you using ?
I imported another CD and watched for what import speed numbers were displayed. Routinely, they hovered around 8x and sometimes up to 12 or 13x, but never higher. I was told by someone at our local user's group meeting that ripping at AAC 192kbps was a double-pass, I think that was the words they used, and therefore slower. ( Many members thought 7 minutes to rip was typical ) I'm not so sure if that means the drive will only spin at half it's rated max speed ? Anyway, I walked over to my son's PC with the CD and ripped it at AAC 192kbps to his iTunes library. The numbers I saw were from 18x to frequently 23, 24 and sometimes briefly to about 26x. His drive has a max of 40x. By my reasoning, anything that would cause iTunes to rip this CD at a slower speed, whether due to the encoding rate or the CD's surface condition, should affect both computers equally, yes ? Yet the drive on the PC performed on average at twice the rate of the iMac. I think it's safe to say the rip speed is comfortably within the operating margins of both drives.
I'm not yet fully convinced this is normal for an iMac. My CD are in excellent shape. I'm the only one who uses them and I handle them with about as much care as the old audiofiles used to when they handled their vinyl LPs ( well, at least not as far as wearing cotton gloves and sweeping the dust off ). Most of them have absolutely no visible scratches or oily finger prints on their surfaces. I might experiment and see what rates I get if I use MP3 or a lower bit rate for AAC.

  • SHOWS AS CAMERA

A few issues with my Gen 4 touch.
    1. When connected to ANY computer it shows as a camera device.  I have tried to upload drivers, etc with no success.  My itouch will show up in Itunes.  My computer recently crashed and I am trying to get the files off my itouch as they are now my only files since the crash and I need to back them up.
    2. The menu button on my touch no longer works.  It doesn't matter how many times i press it, nothing happens.  No reaction.  I haven't dropped it.  It hasn't gotten wet.  Just stopped working.
    3. Last night my touch decided to go on "voice command" and no longer has the ability to scroll. It requires me to highlight items with one tap and then double tap it to open things.  I tried to get into setting to reset it, but since I can't scroll down, the last thing I can access in general settings is "restrictions".
I am about to throw this thing out!  Anyone have any idea how I can get this thing working without sending it in and basically paying 300 to get it fixed?  I swear I have not abused this item in anyway.  I did buy it refurbished though.  Last time I do that....

    - If you get iTunes to see the iPod you can turn off VC by going tot he Summary pane for the iPod and go to Configure Universal Access.
    - It is normal and expect for a computer to see the iPod as a camera since that is how you get photos off the iPod.
    - Since the iPod may see the fixed computer as a "new" computer/iTunes libray.

  • Custom report: Machine Name Not Match Serial Number

What criteria would I use for a custom report that would show computers
with Machine Names not matching Serial Numbers?

    > What criteria would I use for a custom report that would show computers
    > with Machine Names not matching Serial Numbers?
Don't really see an easy way to do that. You don't get an option to say
machine name not= to serial number or visa versa. The only thing I can
see to do is create a basic workstation report and display machine name
and serial number and do a side by side comparison.

  • Unknown Error: PDF_TEST_00   not returned Responds

    Hi Gurus,
I am trying to execute some AIF using the T Code: FMBB, but just before calling the form itself, my testing program got stuck and does not longer respond.  No messages, no outputs, nothing after that.
Have been to all of the step in this link:  (Adobe Document Services http://help.sap.com/erp2005_ehp_03/helpdata/EN/37/504b8cbc2848a494facfdc09a359b1/frameset.htm)
-Others steps I have done so far:  Checking the IIOP Service and the Startup Properties
    -  I  execute the Report FP_TEST_00.
Here is when it all comes, run the report, choosing a printer up to the
        Parameters for printing AIF(Device Type: Post2)   then I got a never-ending wait
cursor so the system is not longer responding. No Errors, no output, nothing at all.
I come to check the other test to resolve the error, according to the guide:
           1.    Checking the ABAP Connection:
                     execute the report      FP_PDF_TEST_00
so good!, the report shows the version number of the Adobe document services as the guide says.
           2.      Checking the User and Password:
                      Server  : dr6server.
                        J2EE Instance : 03.
                        Port : 50300.
                        SID : DRA
                        URL = http://dr6server:50300/AdobeDocumentServices/Config
Enter the URL in Web browser and Choose rpdata(test.…)., enter the ADSUser and
password and the system displays the version number of the Adobe document
services in the response area, test successful!
          3.     Checking the Destination Service and the ICF Service
                      execute the report   FP_CHECK_DESTINATION_SERVICE.
                      - Here the problem comes again,  I just run the report above then got no respond at all. I could
Identify the line code where it does not continue:
                         l_soapresponse = adsobject->run( ).
    -     Apparently there are problems with the configuration of ADS, although already set ADS_AGENT with his   role SAP_BC_FP_ICF, ADS_User with his role ADS_CALLERS, FP_ICF_DATA_ <SID> already been created in J2EE , install and configure the credentials of ADOVE successfully, the HTTP connection(RFC Destination  'ADS') was created successfully , and check the ICF in browser and the visual j2ee administrator and a test was successful only lacking in AS ABAP that gives me the error.
    -     Configuration of the Web Service for Basic Authentication  have been use as step by step guide
configuration But the problem with the reports:
                                     FP_TEST_00,FP_CHECK_DESTINATION_SERVICE.  remains.
Can anyone please explain me where and how should I set the ADS to make this test successful.
    Thanks in advance
    regards

    Hello  Maarten ,
first of all thank you for your quick reaction.
I run the program both ways, but there is no single answer falls into a cycle as infinity,
The service was created in the visual Administrator previously said that according to what the guide configuration, in the visual amdministrador -> Services -> Destinations. I introduced FP_ICF_DATA_DRA (ID system is DRA).
assign a name = "DR6SERVER" and port = "8003" which I found in the T-code SICF, authentication Basic client = "300" user = ADS_AGENT and passw (previously established with AS Abap Role = "SAP_BC_FP_ICF" probe save and test and the response was "GET HTTP response code 200" Test success.
but still not responding the report.
    even probe "http://DR6SERVER:8003/sap/bc/fp/form/layout/fp_test_00.xdp"
both in the Administrator visual-> Services -> Destinations and in the browser and generates response.
Do you have another ideas solving my problem?
    Thanks in advance
    regards
    Miguel

  • Instructions for new features in 5.0 don't work on Mac.

The instructions for using new features in Firefox 5.0 do not work on Mac, which is most likely your largest user considering Mac users can't use IE. Contol-clicking on a tab does not result in a menu with "pin tab" or any similar wording. It is not possible to drag one tab icon on top of another to create tab groups. Those are the only two changes I've tried. Do these features not work on Mac? If they do, how do those of us who are intelligent enough to use the superior computer find instructions?

Your point that the support is manned by volunteers and not the company producing the software is the problem. I have a little time right now, but I teach 15 credit hours of college writing courses during the academic term, which means I work 14 to 18 hours a day seven days a week. I do not have time to search through endless posts to seek answers to basic functionality questions. The companies that produce software should be responsible for explaining how it works, and they should do so in non-technical terms unless they want me to impose my expertise on them and demand perfect grammar on their sites. But then, corporate America is not held responsible for anything these days. Frequent, needless software updates that limit rather than enhance functionality are quickly turning me into a neo-Luddite.

  • Is SP needed for windows 8 clients?

I run a small office with a NW6.5 server. Back in the day (20 years+), I was a support guy. I've stuck with NW since. I rarely do maintenance, so I'm always rusty. Good sign for NW!
So we upgraded the hardware on our XP workstations twice over the years, but the XP days are setting.
We discussed the next upgrade and decided to try to go right to win 8 if it works. We have Vista on some notebooks, but no windows 7.
So I built up a basic workstation with windows 8. The client installed NP. I can see the network and map some drives.
The issue is when pulling up a file from the server, it loads, then works for a few seconds, then does a long hang. Either Word or Adobe just goes into "not responding" mode for a minute or so. It finally returns after the delay.
I'm guessing the NW server is so far off what Microsoft thinks is a secure server, that it does some sort of security check?
So before I go looking for a client solution, I wanted to make sure there is not some server parameters I need to check. My SPs are a bit old (SP5 I think), but this server is only used internally. I'd rather not load more stuff on the server if I don't need to, but I will if needed.
    Any help would be appreciated.

If you're not already running SP8 on your NetWare 6.5 then you should be, not to specifically support Windows 8 but because it includes all sorts of improvements. There also some post-SP8 fixes you should consider installing - see http://wiki.novell.com/index.php/Nw65sp8
Note that installing the Novell Client on Windows 8 means that you're using NCP so there should be nothing Microsoft or Windows 8 is checking.

  • Swapping drives between Ultra 5 and 10 is it possible?

I currently am faced with a problem. I have 2 machines running Solaris 7. One is an ultra 10 and the other is an ultra 5. The Ultra 10 is currently running off of an external scsi drive. The Ultra 5 is currently running off of an internal IDE drive. The utra 10 is used as a basic workstation. The ultra 5 is used as a software simulator. I am tasked with having to switch these two machines. I have tried just swapping the hard drives. However this does not work. Is there a reason why? Is there a fix? I thought they were the same architechure so I was assuming you could just swap the drives. If you have any info please let me know. I would greatly appreciate it.
    Thanks,
    Jason

Ultra 5 and Ultra 10 is exactly the same machine but in different boxes. So they uses exactly the same motherboard.
Of course there are a couple of different motherboards with different revisions and there are also multiple CPUs available for the Ultra 5 / Ultra 10 (the speed on a Ultra 5/10 CPU can range from 200-something to 440, if i'm not mistaken).
Hence, to clarify; all Ultra 5 and Ultra 10 have an IDE controller.
If your Ultra 10 is booting of a SCSI device, it must be connected to a SCSI card, if you can move this SCSI card to your Ultra 5 and put it in the same PCI slot, chances are that you will be able to boot from it. Similarly the Ultra 10 should be able to boot from the Ultra 5s harddrive. Unless they have very different version of the motherboard.
You will probably have to change the default boot device on both boxes though.
If your systems for some odd reason, which i can't think of at the moment, would refuse to boot of their new hosts, you could always boot the system from a jumpstart image or cdrom, mount the / partition under /mnt and run
    devfsadm -r /mnt
this should rebuild all devicepaths and friends to match your new host.
Then again, remember to change the boot-device parameter in your OBP, if you are lucky you should be able to just swap the parameters between the U5 and the U10.

  • Retrieving Contact List

My three year old Samsung Knack just crashed, it will not power up or boot up.  I went to a Wireless Zone store and purchased a Motorola Barrage because I seek just a basic phone.  My problem is that I am not able to download or retrieve my contact list.  Back when I bought the Knack, I recall being able to go online to retrieve my contact list from the Verizon website somehow and download to the phone.  Does anyone have knowledge if such a thing is possible?  I'm running into a wall trying to navigate the Verizon website for info.  Thank You in advance for any help.

If you backed up your contact list to Backup Assistant (or the new BUA Plus) before the phone crashed, you should be able to install it or activate it on the new phone, use the same passcode as you had with the old phone, it will recognize a new device and ask if you want to restore you contacts.
Even if it's not a recent backup, it will be better than entering all by hand.

  • Constantly Dropping From N to G on 17" MBP

OK, my neighborhood is absolutely awash in g networks. I was forever having to manually move to a relatively clear end of the spectrum, only to find myself needing to move again a day or two later (one of my neighbors apparently shuts down his WiFi every time he's finished using it, thus he comes up on random channels all the time). So I finally bit the bullet and bought a 1 TB Time Capsule. Oddly, my Mini stays pegged on N channel 149, whereas my 17" MBP keeps dropping down to g. I do have an all-in-one that I spent a lot of money on a few years back and it only does g. Also, my iPhone is g. Any way to peg this thing to N? Anyway to kick it back up once it drops down to g? With the way things are, I've basically wasted $300 (the backup function of the capsule holds value to me, but not $300 worth all on its own). I work from home when not on a client's location and thus my network connectivity is paramount. And I do a lot of RealVNC between my MBP and my Mini, so I really do consume a lot of WiFi bandwidth. Or I would if I was constantly dealing with interference in the g band of channels...

Post and ye shall receive! After a bit more fighting with this thing, I discovered a feature that I thought was sorely lacking. Namely, the ability to have separate SSIDs for your different frequency bands. If you go into manual configuration of the Time Capsule, there is an advanced option that you can check that adds "(5 GHz)" to the SSID. Thus, you can set your Macs to prefer the N before the g or just eliminate the g altogether. So this should solve the problem. Thanks to those of you who popped into this brief thread and hopefully this will help someone else new to the Time Capsule down the line...

With above process RG23 registers will be updated.
RG23D will be updated when there is Depot receipt (J1IG) and Issue(J1IJ)  transaction.

  • Direct capture from internet audio?  (OS 9.1 + Toast 5 Titanium)

    Greetings
Can I do this directly, or do I need more software, or is it not really possible at all with OS 9.1 and a beige G3?
I CAN record by going from an analog source (outputs of a good FM radio) and digitizing that signal - then burning a CD, but it introduces background noise.
    Thanks for your time!

There's supposed to be a few OSX utilities for doing this but nothing I know of for OS 9.
I read about one workaround which is to take the sound output from your computer and plug it straight back into the sound input. I tried this very quickly on a somewhat slow and basic G3 (300 MHz, 4 GB HD 98 MB RAM) but the results were very unsatisfactory. The recording was broken up with long pauses and missing parts. The I don't know if this was because the basic G3 I was using (slow HD, min. RAM, relatively slow CPU) was incapable of handling the stream and recording at the same time, or maybe the particular stream I was experimenting with was somewhat high bandwidth for this experiment. I was also using the small jacks and not the RCA jacks I have on my personality card at home. Now that you mention this I may try the experiment at home using soundfiles already on the computer just to see where the bottleneck is located. This big minus of all this is loss of quality since you're going from digital to analog and back to digital, but I suspect that most streams are so downgraded that this won't be too important.
There are a number of audio tools out there that have noise filtering capabilities of various sorts. Toast itself (which you have) includes CD Spin Doctor. I believe Audacity (free) includes this, and Amadeus II (shareware and still supported for OS 9) has several different noise filtering tools.

  • Black screen on start up!!! Please help!

I have been having baffling problems with my imac (2006) and am desperately seeking advice.
Basically, it has become really unreliable lately... Sometimes it starts up and runs fine- with no obvious problems but once it goes to sleep or is shut down it more often than not will not start up properly again.
The start-up chime sounds, you can hear the fans as usual and the light at the front goes on and is steady BUT it only has a black screen. I imagine that the computer is responsive but it only has a black screen. I have tried everybody's suggestions from other similar posts but it is still really unreliable- which is even more of an annoyance because I was hoping to sell it soon and really don't have the money for expensive repairs.
Has anyone had this same problem and found a good solution????
I look forward to your responses.
    Lizzy

    Hi lizzyblue
Operationally a steady LED light on the front means that the computer is on and the Display is sleeping.
    First, reset the iMac's SMC > http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3964
    +1. Shut down the computer.+
    +2. Unplug the computer's power cord.+
+3. Press and hold the power button for 5 seconds.+
    +4. Release the power button.+
+5. Attach the computers power cable.+
+6. Press the power button to turn on the computer.+
Then if it is still acting up or occasionally starting up black, try the following:
    1. Going to: System Preferences > Energy Saver > and click the Restore Defaults button.
    2. and if you are using Hot Corners/Active Screen Corners to sleep the display, go to: System Preferences Exposé & Spaces > Exposé and deselect any corners that are set to "Put Display to Sleep" just incase your mouse is running to a corner at startup.
