Select/configure relevant hostname in cluster environment

The actual situation of my problem is more complex, but I will try to reduce it to the relevant part:
I have a web service and a servlet running within a TomCat4 instance, which is controlled by HPServiceGuard. This means: the JVM of TomCat runs within a package of a cluster. The package has the logical name "pkg1.corp.company.com" and it may run on host "host1.mycluster.com" or on "host2.mycluster.com". I have configured TomCat to accept HTTP requests for the package name, and initial requests are processed correctly - even between the servlet and the web service. But at some stage of the processing (somewhere in the AXIS libraries?), the package name is replaced by the actual hostname. I assume, that the JVM or the networking classes (?) do not see the package name, but the actual hostname.
My question is this: Can I tell Java to consider the package name as the hostname instead of the actual hostname? A property would be good enough.

Sap User,
Backup state controller does not exist on Stack 09. You can configure J2EE on a clustered scenario, but it is not supported (at the moment) -on SP09. On SP12 it is supported. Check the HA Limitations SAP note i sent you on the other question you had.

James

  • ADS Configuration issue in HA cluster environment

    Hi All,
We have HA cluster environment in which we have installed primary node, secondary node and additional application server. We have configured ADS in HA cluster but when we execute "fp_test_00" program in SE38 it throws "ADS: com.adobe.ProcessingException: com.adobe.Processin(200101)" exception. As well as RFC destination "FP_ICF_DATA_<SID>" in java system throws "Error during ping operation: Error while silently connecting: org.w3c.www.protocol.http.HttpException: Connection refused: connect"  while we ping destination.
I have checked URL,Port and Logon data all information provided for RFC is fine. Please help me to resolve this issue.
    Thanks

    Hi Reagan
As you suggested I have checked the URL(http://hostname:8000) has been used for connection, logon data is also fine. Below I have attached dev_icm trace file and there I can see that system throwing error while "reading data from message server"

  • Configure Enterprise Manager in an Cluster Environment

    Hi,
I have a Oracle Database 10g Enterprise configured in a Red Hat Cluster environment in an active/passive automatic failover topology.
I need to configure Enterprise Manager in this database.
Can anyone help wiht the steps to perform it. Can it be done with the 'emca' by just giving with some means the virtual IP address of the Oracle Service in the cluster.
    Best Regard,
    Drini

  • PI 7.1 in a cluster environment (multiple ip-adresses): P4 port

We want to  install PI 7.1 on unix in a cluster environment. Therefore we  installed also DEV+QA with virtual hostnames like the prodsystem, which will be later installed.
At all sapinst installation screens we have used only the virtual hostname <virtual-hostname-server interface>.We have also set the SAPINST_USE_HOSTNAME=<virtual-hostname-server interface>. Although the P4-port seems to have used the physical hostname: in step 57 of sapinst we got problems and in dev_icm were:
[Thr 05] *** ERROR => client with this banner already exists:
    1:<physical-hostname>:35644 {000306f5} [p4_plg_mt.c 2495]
    After we have set
    icm/server_port_1 = PROT=P4,PORT=5$$04, HOST=<virtual-hostname-server interface>
    icm/server_port_6 = PROT=P4,PORT=5$$04, HOST=<virtual-hostname-user interface>
    icm/server_port_7 = PROT=P4,PORT=5$$04, HOST=<physical hostname>
    icm/server_port_8 = PROT=P4,PORT=5$$04, HOST=127.0.0.1
    the sapinst was successfull.
Now we're not sure how to set these P4-parameters in our  future productive cluster environment.
Our productive system PX1 will live in a HA environment, so we don't want to use the physical hostnames in any profile.
    Our environment will look like:
    HOST-A (<physical-hostname-A>):
    <virtual-hostname-server interface>
    <virtual-hostname-user interface>
    HOST-B (<physical-hostname-B>):
Normally our prodsystem will live on Host-A (physical-hostname-A). All parameters should
only take the virtual hostname <virtual-hostname-server-interface>. During switchover the
virtual hostnames (server and user interface) will be taken over to HOST-B, while the physical
hostnames of HOST-A and HOST-B will stay like there are.
How do the parameters have to be set here ?
Have also the physical hostnames of both cluster nodes set in the
    instance profile, e.g:
    icm/server_port_1 = PROT=P4,PORT=5$$04, HOST=<virtual-hostname-server interface>
    icm/server_port_6 = PROT=P4,PORT=5$$04, HOST=<virtual-hostname-user interface>
    icm/server_port_7 = PROT=P4,PORT=5$$04, HOST=<physical-hostname-A>
    icm/server_port_8 = PROT=P4,PORT=5$$04, HOST=<physical-hostname-B>
    icm/server_port_9 = PROT=P4,PORT=5$$04, HOST=<localhost>
Any recommendations ? In note 1158626 is some infomation regarding P4 ports with multiple network interfaces, but it's not 100% clear for us.
    Best regards,
    Uta

    Hi Uta!
Obviously we are the only human beings in the SAP community having this problem. Nevertheless let's give it another try with a - hopefully - more simple problem description (and maybe it will be helpful to copy and paste this description into the open SAP CSN also).
    So here comes the scenario:
    We have one physical host:
    Physical hostname: physhost
    Physical IP address: 1.1.1.1
On this physical host there is running one OS: SUN Solaris 10/SPARC
On top of this we have two virtual hosts where we install 2 completely independent PI 7.1 instances with separate virtual hostnames and separate virtual IP addresses and separate DB2 9.1 databases. That is this is not an MCOD installation.
Virtual Host no. 1 is PI 7.1 Development System:
    Virtual hostname: virthostdev
    Virtual IP address: 2.2.2.2
    Java Port numbers: 512xx
Virtual Host no. 2 is PI 7.1 QA System:
    Virtual hostname: virthostqa
    Virtual IP address: 3.3.3.3
    Java Port numbers: 522xx
With this constellation we face serious problems with the P4 port. Currently for example the JSPM for virthostdev does not start, because JSPM cannot connect to the P4 port.
In SAP note 1158626 we have learned that by default always the physical hostname/IP address is used to address the P4 port and that we have to configure instance profile parameter icm/server_port_xx to avoid this.
So how do we have to configure the instance profile parameter icm/server_port_xx for both systems to resolve these P4 port conflicts?
Additionally: Is it important to use distinct server port slot numbers xx in both systems?
Additionally: Is it possible to configure this parameter with hostnames instead of using IP addresses?
So far we have tried several combinations, but with each combination at least one or even both systems have problems with that f.... P4 port.
Please help! Thanx a lot in advance!
    Regards,
    Volker

  • OPMN fails in cluster environment after the machie reboots.

    Dear All:
Have you ever meet the following problem or have any suggestion for it? Thanks a lot.
There are machine A and B have been setup successfully in a cluster environment, everything is fine.
However, after the machine B reboots, the Oracle BI Server and Presentation Server in machine B could not start.
The error message for Oracle BI Server is:

    The detail information is:
    1)     Machine A and B both run Windows 2008 server 64bit.
    2)     Machine A runs Admin Server+BI_Server1(managed server). Machine B is configured with “Scale out an existing installation” option and runs BI_Server2(managed server).
    3)     BIEE 11.1.1.3
    4)     In EM, the shared location of shared repository has been set to something like \\10.91.61.158\shared\RPD. The catalog path has been set to \\10.91.61.158\BIEEShare\CATALOG\SampleAppLite. Both path could be accessed by machine A and B.
    5)     Before machine B reboots, everything is fine. All the servers could be started.
    6)     After machine B reboots, the managed server BI_server2 could be started successfully. However, “opmnctl startall” would incur the above error message.
Any suggestion is welcome. Thanks a lot!

  • File polling in cluster environment

We have a cluster environment with two servers(say, osb_server1 and osb_server2) and a proxy service is configured with file polling using HAfileAdapter.
When executing this service immediately after activation, for first time, the server “osb_server2” throws error as,
    Caused By: BINDING.JCA-11042
    File deletion failed.
    File deletion failed.
File : /**Path**/filename.txt as it does not exist. could not be deleted.
But for consecutive attempts, the osb proxy service is processed by “osb1_server1” and we are not getting the above mentioned error.
In short, We face the issue as below only when executing first time after “Activate” session but the consecutive attempts doesn’t throw error.
Why such error occurs when executing in cluster environment?
    Thanks in advance.

try to use the file protocol provided by osb.And select the polling server as on eof the managed server.

  • Managed SOA Server not started in cluster environment.

    Hi,
I am trying to make a SOA cluster environment on Linux based machines. After doing domain configuration which also involved packing of domain on machine 1 and unpacking on machine2, I tried to start the servers. I'm able to start AdminServer successfully and also the managed soa server on the same machine. When I'm trying to start managed soa server on other machine, I'm getting the following error..
*<Unable to establish JMX Connectivity with the Adminstration Server AdminServer at service:jmx:t3://192.168.122.1:7001/jndi/weblogic.management.mbeanservers.domainruntime.*
    java.io.IOException>
My machine IP is XXX.XX.XXX.41 for Admin and XXX.XX.XXX.42 for Machine2. I guess the IP 192.168.122.1 is being used for cluster connection by Machine2 to make connection to Machine1. the managed soa server is getting started after the chain of error logs but it is not starting as a part of the entire cluster and comes as shutdown in WLS Console.
I'm using Linux 5 Update 7 OS and SOA 11.1.1.5.0. Any help will be appreciated for resolving this issue.
    Please find the logs below.

    hi,
I was able to resolve this issue. I haven't given Listen IP address for Admin Server as I have selected All Local Addresses during domain creation. As per some blog this allows Managed Server on remote machine to use any of the Address to speak to Admin Server. In this case it is using 192.168.122.1 rather than so called IP Address.
Simple fix will be giving DNS Name of Machine or IP Address.

  • How to setup the cluster environment for BPM using weblogic

want to setup the cluster environment for BPM using weblogic....
i have installed the oracle weblogic server 10gr3 and oracle BPM enterprise for weblogic 10gR3
i have used the Admin tools from the "oracle BPM enterprise for weblogic" to setup the configuration and create the weblogic domain servers.
i can launch the process administrator and import the project exp file to domain server.
but what should i do to setup cluster environment using weblogic?
what i want to do is :
    setup one admin machine..
    setup two product machine..
enable the cluster so the admin machine can monitor the status of the product machine..
    thanks a lot ...

The install guide at http://download-llnw.oracle.com/docs/cd/E13154_01/bpm/docs65/config_guide/index.html gives a reasonable amount of info on how to do this.
Personally I have not used the OBPM option to configure WebLogic instead I've used the information in the above install guide to create the weblogic domain in advance of configuring OBPM.
Once you've setup WebLogic configure OBPM using the values I mention in the following thread: How to set the JMX Engine parameter in Process Administation?
Let me know any specific config questions and I'll do my best to answer them for you.
    Thanks,
    Mike

  • Scheduling,Email Setup in cluster environment and multiple job servers

    Hello All,
I have to schedule and email instances of crystal reports to users in PDF and excel format. A Clustered environment of Business Objects 3.1 SP3 is been setup on 2 servers. There is 2 instances of crystal reports Job server been created.
My question is If there are multiple instances of job servers then should we have to configure mail settings on both instances of job server or not?
And secondly, in cluster environment the email settings and scheduling of the reports should be setup on both CMS servers( CMS server 1 and CMS server 2) or should CMS server 1 should be enough?
    Thanks in advance.

You have a couple of options here.
    1.  You can either set up email on all of the job servers on both CMS' in the cluster.  This is actually the easiest to manage.
    2.  You can set up email on some of the job servers on one or the other CMS.  However, at this point you would also have to set up a server group that contains the job servers that are set up for email, plus the RAS server - you might also have to include the Crystal Cache server and the Crystal Processing server.  Then ALL of the reports that are sent via email would have to be scheduled run ONLY on the server group that contains the email-enabled job server(s).

  • SQL PATCH IN CLUSTER ENVIRONMENT

    Dear All,
One of my client is having SAP ECC6.0 , SQL 2005 , windows 2003 64 bit.
They are having SQL 2005 version 9.00.1399 and according to SAP it is no more supported so they want to upgrade it to 9.00.4035.
In DEV and QAS (non cluster environment) they are already having 9.00.4035 .
    - Can you guys please guide me about how to apply SQL patch in Cluster environment.
    - Shall I apply patch 9.00.4035 directly from 9.00.1399
    - Any recommendations before and after applying patched
    Kindly guide.
    Regards,
    Rmoihnitii

    Hello my friend
Unfortunately this is not a zero down time solution since Database Services and Analysis Services checkboxes will not be available while patching SP3:
    1. Launch SP3 package on the active node;
    2. Select authentication mode for the instance you are going to update;
    3. Enter credentials of the login you want to run service pack on behalf of;
    4. Click all the way next to start installing;
Then you need to update the inactive node it is necessary to execute all the steps except steps 2 and 3. There can be some problems with updating database service in the cluster. Restart of each node of the cluster and restart of the cluster service usually resolves all the problems. After restart try to update database service one more time.

  • Best practice: Deployment plan for cluster environment

    Hi All,
I want to know, which way is the best practice for preparing and deploying new configuration for WLS-cluster environment. How can I plan a simultan deployment of ALL of nodes, with out single point of failure?
    Regards,
    Moh

    Hi All,
I get the Answer as followed:
When you deploy an application OR redeploy an application, the deployment is initiated from the Admin Server and it it initiated on all targets (managed servers in the cluster) at the same time based on targets (which is expected to be cluster).
We recommend that applications should be targeted to a cluster instead of individual servers whenever a cluster configuration is available.
So, as long as you target the application to the cluster, the admin server will initiate the deployment on all the servers in a cluster at the same type, so application is in sync on all servers.
Hope that answers your queries. If not, please let me know what exactly you mean by synchronization.

    Moh

  • OSB Email Transport polling in multi cluster environment

    Hi,
I have following scenario: email needs to be read by OSB proxy using the Email transport. The proxy service service will poll the IMAP mail box and processes messages, upon reading a message message is deleted.
The email transport works fine in a cluster environment by using a dedicated managed node for polling, so no duplicate messages will occur.
However, we have two clusters in our environment pointing to one mailbox. In this case, two clusters have no visibility of each other. So, two pollers may poll the same mailbox.
Please, advice if there any configuration on OSB, Weblogic or IMAP can be done to solve this issue.
    thanks,
    Djail

Dont think it will work in an Active-Active setup. If you have both clusters listening to same email address then both will receive a copy (just like you receive same email on your desktop's email client and also on your mobile's email client) because SMTP servers distribute to clients similar to how a JMS Topic works.
Dont know if there is a setup in IMAP which will allow an email to be sent to only one client (in this case one of the OSB clusters).
If you want to make it work in Active-Active then you will need to do it at functional level, for ex. after receiving an email if you have any unique id then log that in a transaction table, before calling the backend, check if the same email was already processed by the other cluster. Alternatively, check at the backend before processing it.

  • Cluster environment / OBIEE 10.1.3.4.1

    Hi All,
Can anyone give me more information on Clustering
1> Can we make schedulers work in a cluster environment ?
2> Max number of servers in a cluster configuration ?
    Thanks
    Goutham

The Cluster Server allows up to 16 Oracle BI Servers in a network domain to act as a single server.
Schedulers can also work in a clustered configuration however only one instance will always be active...
Active Scheduler. An active Scheduler is a clustered Oracle BI Scheduler instance which actively processes Scheduler jobs. The Cluster Controller determines the active instance at runtime and notifies the Scheduler cluster of this instance.
Inactive Scheduler. An inactive Scheduler is a clustered Oracle BI Scheduler instance which is not actively processing Scheduler jobs but is ready to take over in the event of an active Scheduler failure. An inactive scheduler is idle at all other times.

  • Concurrent nodes reading from JMS topic (cluster environment)

    Hi.
    Need some help on this:
Concurrent nodes reading from JMS topic (cluster environment)
    Thanks
    Denis

After some thinking, I noted the following:
1 - It's correct that only one node subscribes to a topic at a time. Otherwise, the same message would be processed by the nodes many times.
2 - In order to solve the load balancing problem, I think that the Topic should be changed by a Queue. This way, each BPEL process from the node would poll for a message, and as soon as the message arrives, only one BPEL node gets the message and take if off the Queue.
The legacy JMS provider I mentioned in the post above is actually the Retek Integration Bus (RIB). I'm integrating Retek apps with E-Business Suite.
I'll try to configure the RIB to provide both a Topic (for the existing application consumers) and a Queue (an exclusive channel for BPEL)
Do you guys have already tried to do an integration like this??
    Thanks
    Denis

  • Moving ECMI repository to a new location - cluster environment doesn't work

    Hello all,
Actually, we have the "default" configuration in the ECMI properties, and we want to move to a new location the File system repository (another disk location).
After reviewing the ECM doc's we found the way and the parameters to reconfigure (ContentStorePath) and we put an absolute path ( "H:\content ') instead "Default" value , but we have an issue on this.
Because our system runs in cluster mode (2 node instances), this configuration only works fine with one node, and the other doesn't work, displaying the "Content Folder Doesn't Exists" error.
Both nodes runs' on separated machines and we want to know what is the correct way to configure this feature in a cluster environment.
    Best Regards

I should note that now my local users inside the office are getting outlook errors, showing 3 checkmarks 2 green one red,  regarding the cert, and the red  checked box says:  The name on the certificat is invalid or does not match the name
    of the site.
They can  bypass the error by clicking Continue, but installing it does only work for a short time before the error comes back. I think that would result from the setup in outlook pointing towards either SRV01 or SRV01.mydomain.local  instead of
    mail.mydomain.com
The cert error on the android devices was saying Invalid certificate, do you want to continue, or similar, except clicking continue just paused a short while and brought up the same window.
Now I am getting an error, on the android, saying Invalid username or password - when I KNOW it is valid
In regards to DNS being set up correctly - I never had a mail. A record setup prior to purchasing the commercial cert - we just used the router IP in the phones and were able to get activesync working. For some reason with the new IP / ISP we could not access
by IP.  So I got the SSL, and added a mail A record to DNS, pointing to our router IP, and our router has always routed activesync/443 traffic correctly, and none of that was changed
