Selecting the 'right' column in a FMS window

Hello,
If I have a FMS showing up say 3-4 columns in the search results.. say Customer name, Invoice number, value and Due Date...
How to set the user to select values between one of these columns. At the moment, clicking on the row selects the First Column always (Customer Name in my case).
I would like to be able to select the Due Date (or any other column) without altering the order of the columns shown here.

We have investigated on the issue.
It is the current system behaviour that if defining a FMS showing up more than one column, always the first column will be selected.
In your case I suggest that you define several UDFs (eg: Customer Name & Due Date) and link seperate FMS to retrieved the required information.

Well, the right arrow key will already move you to the next column, so the easiest way to do this is to modify the InputMap to have the Enter key invoke the same Action as the right arrow key.
You can search the forum for my "Table Actions" (without the space) example that will show you how to do this.

Mistakenly selected the right click in mouse settings

my son mistakenly selected the right click in the "keyboard and mouse" settings under system preferences . that means my mouse is virtually not usuable now . it doesn't allow anything to clicked using mouse . only mouse works is just to have right click option . Is there way to fix this issue by navigating thru keyboard and change the option to left click from right click. i can reach to window where i see its showing the "right click" option selected but can't do anything to change . please help. othewise i have to re-install the O/S .
this is for Mac OS x .

i can reach to the Keyboad and Mouse Window by right clicking on the system preferences and the type the mouse and keyboard option but after that the tab does work to reach the left radio button.
i am thinking about re-installing as its look like its not that simple for me . just tell me a way to completly format it and reinstall the O/S .

How to select the right JSP for a locale

This may be a very stupid question but someone please help me out. I've
looked at the JSP spec and the Weblogic documentation and even browsed the
newsgroup and I still can't figure this out. Perhaps I'm just being dense
(more than likely).
What we want to do is support multiple locals from one server. My idea is
that we'd write the JSP in English then hire translation companies to
convert the JSP to French,German, Japanese, etc.(We've moved all the java
code out of the JSPs using taglibs/java beans to make this easier). What
we'd like to do is have all the languages on the server at once and based on
the local of the client select the right JSP. We'd still like the URL to
remain constant. What I can't seem to figure out is how to have one URL
(like http:/www.myserver.com/example.JSP) and have the server select the
right real JSP for the local (like example-en.JSP, example-fr.JSP, etc).
I had hoped I could find a deployment descriptor (J2EE or Weblogic specific)
directive that mapped a URL to a set of JSP based on locale but I don't see
one.
How does one make this happen or is the wrong way to do it". If it the
"wrong way" what is the right way? Any links or example someone can point
me to would be great.

We use a Servlet "filter" (not the Servlet 2.3 sense, but a 2.2 servlet that
does a RequestDispatch.forward())
This filter selects the most appropriate JSP page (using a similar naming
convention to the one you indicate), then server-side forwards to it. Works
quite well.

Search the web or help doco about the Captivate feature called Return to Quiz. It will do what you are looking for here according to your description. There's even a Youtube video from a year or two back that shows how it works.

"Verify that you have selected the right BC4J package"??

Through out the "Dev guide", while describing steps to create Association Objects, view Link, etc, it has been mentioned to "Verify that you have selected the right BC4J package". What does it actully mean? What is the 'right' BC4J package. In various sites(Anil Passi), I have noticed, they have created three packages, server, schema and webui. But, nowhere in the documentation, did I find that these packages need to be created for "custom development". Will I run into issues, if I create packages with a different name? Are there any docs explaning the different right BC4J packages that need to be created. Or is this a basic understanding that all Java Developers know and follow.

This is not mandatory that you have to create these packages but these are the standards, which need to be followed.
In toolbox tutorial you will find the description about the packages structures.

How to select the "in columns" dimension on export all Command ?

Hello,
I'm trying to export data from an V6.5 Essbase database to a 9.2 one.
The easier and faster way I found is to use the 'Export database all data in Columns' from the 6.5 cube and load the data with a rule file in the 9.2 (The Export database command is MaxL command).
The Export All Command with the "in columns options", export all data and put one dimensions in columns. Previously, It was always the Time dimension (M01 .... M12). And all worked fine.
But someone changed the order of the dimensions in the V6.5 Essbase database. And now, there is another dimension (which changes more often) in columns and which have a lot of members (meanwhile my time dimension only have 12 members).
So do you know how to select the dimensions which is in columns when using the export database all data function ? I do not see any options in Maxl ?? Maybe there is a rule to follow, in the dimensions order ?
Do you have any idea about it ?

P.S : I'd prefer to avoid workaround such as using Reports Scripts or Calc Script (there are too slow).

Why not use Essbase's native export format, bring it over onto your new environment, and reimport? Change to your heart's content on the target.
Yes, the dimensionality (names, order, members, etc.) will have to be the same, but this approach, not the columnar export, is the fastest and most efficient way.

I need some direction to select the right DR to install Catalog

I just got LR 2. and I'm at a crossroad not sure which way to go. This is my current situation:
I am have a Mac 10.5 and use mostly Ext HDs, except for Apps that I run using the Int. HD. I have about 175 GB worht of images.
I have the following Ext HD:
1- 1 TB - 550 GB avail. (fw) I am using it as my primary Data, and back up drive
2- 500 GB (USB) - 346 GB avail - as secondary back up drive
3- 350 GB (USB) -198 GB avail - as third back up copy.
However, I am not sure if this is the right way to go since I'd like to keep 2 back up copies of all my images, in addition I would like to install LR Catalog on one of the Ext HD, as well as, backing up LR using one of the Ext HD. I have read that it's best to use the fastest DR to install the Catalog
So my questions is which Dr. should I install the Catalog?
Which DR do I set LR's back up (catalog not images)?
Which DR do I set as the primary one to use while using LR?
Another thing I'm not quite sure if I should even try to use TM since I read that it's not recommended to use while using LR.

I think we both are in agreement and thank you for confirming it . Now comes the heavy task of removing and reformatting the drives yikes. So you think that buy installing the catalog in the Int HD it will not take a lot of room?
I am aware that I will importing the images (as reference) so they will be stored on the FW HD, so the command for any alteration on the images would not take a lot of space on the DR?

I have another question about TM, how you made your selection for the destination DR to put your TM backups? Do you have a dedicated DR or have other stuff there as well.
Are you telling me that I could excluded "the catalog" in the TM preference while I am setting it up
I have no experience with TM and to be honest I'm confused. I'm not sure if I should dedicated a DR solely for TM

Swipe 4 fingers to the right for a "new desktop window"?

Hey everybody, I recently upgraded to OSX Lion and I am not able to find this option where you can swipe to the right with 4 fingers and it goes to a new "desktop window" where you can open a new app and switch back to the other window by swiping to the left. I'm not exactly sure about what its called but I know it's there somewhere..
I've seen my professor use this in class on his macbook pro so I know that option is there somewhere but I can't seem to find it in system preferences.

I can't seem to find anything there. I'll try to be more clear:
When you swipe 4 fingers to the left, it takes you to the Dashboard (with those mini apps such as the puzzel/clock/calculator) and when you swipe 4 fingers to the right, it brings you back to the desktop. What I'm referring to here is an option which enables you to "add more desktops" so that when you swipe 4 fingers to the right from your original desktop, it opens up a new desktop with no apps on it so you can have Keynote app on one desktop and safari running on the other and interchange between the desktops with the swipe of 4 fingers.....

I know that the proper, Epson-made driver for my R245 is on my system, because it is successfully selected when I plug the printer in to my Airport Express. However I now want to use my new router's print server function, and when I add it to Leopard as an IP printer, it blindly insists on either "Generic Postscript Printer" or the "Gutenburg" (sp?) version that seems to come with OS X. I can't seem to find a way to force it in to using the proper driver, and I'd appreciate any help in getting it to do so... that driver is the only way I can get the right options for print settings (colour, fidelity et cetera).

I don't appear to have that option on the list (only Epson TCP\IP and Firewire, among other brands). Besides, I'm not trying to connect it via USB to my computer, it's connecting via USB to a hub to my computer. I tried the Epson TCP\IP setting, but it didn't recognise anything at the address. The IP tab does though, just not with the right driver!
The funny thing I've also discovered ... if I give the Address line an IP address a few digits off the target, it still says it's found a Generic PostScript Printer. But there isn't one at that address. However I know that if I give it the right address and let it think it's a Generic PS Printer (or correct it to the Gutenprint version), it will print successfully. I'm just missing the options.

The right side of my browser window is cut off. There is no scroll bar on the right and the search bar (upper right) is chopped off (right side).

Actually, the whole right side of the window is cut off, including the page/window header. This isn't just the websites I visit, it's the whole browser window(s). The word "Settings" is also cut off on the right side.

It is possible that the screen is too wide or too high and that the scroll bars fall off.
* Use Restore or Maximize in the right-click context menu of the Taskbar icon to set focus to the Firefox application if you do not see the Firefox window.
* Open the system menu of that Firefox window via Alt+Space and see if you can move and resize that window.
If that works then close Firefox (File > Exit/Quit) to save that setting.

Error message too long to view the options buttons and select the right one!

I am trying to send a group email change of address notice to a large number of recipients. It took me ages to edit all the addresses so I am keen not to have to start again. The email is not sending. This often happens and usually a warning message comes up telling me that it is because the server is the wrong one, and I just click edit message and select the correct server. The problem is that this time an error message is coming up with a huge list of emails that ends off the page. I can't read the end of the message or select the correct option. I have tried using tab to change options but that is not working either. I'm on a 27 inch screen so it shouldn't be a problem but I just cannot work out a way to read the end of the message. Nor can I delete the message. What can I do??

You can use oracle's Substr Function with the odiRef.getPrevStepLog .
Example
insert into my_table.my_column values SUBSTR('<%=odiRef.getPrevStepLog("MESSAGE")%>',1,4000) ;
This should give you the message staring from 1st position till 4000th position.
Modify the query according to your need.

How can Address Book groups select the right email address?

Hello
I am wondering about what should be a common problem, but I don't see any discussions of it.
Most of my contacts have more than one email entry: e.g., work, home, etc..
When I construct a group, let's say "Widget Group" and drag Mary Brown, Bob Smith, and Barak Obama into it, and then mail using the group address, it selects the FIRST email address to send to, even if I have tried to rearranged the template, set up a new field called "preferred" etc..
There seems no way to have a group email send to some specified email address, which REALLY makes the address book cumbersome. I suppose I"ll have to have separate contacts: Mary Smith--Work; Mary Smith—home etc..
SURELY there is a better way. Help!

Need help selecting the right MBP for me, just bought a pc with Windows 8 and I already regret it..

Ok, so I'm an engineering student and I am in need of a good laptop to run programming and design type software. I have an older iMac which I love but I need the portability of a laptop for school. I was thinking I would be fine with a pc since most of the software I would be using for school is windows based. So last night, after shopping around for quite a bit, I decided to go with a Sony Vaio E series laptop with Windows 8, 8gb ram, i7 processor, dedicated graphics card, 1tb hard drive, and touch screen. It was the best performance laptop (on paper) Best Buy had in the store for just under $1000. I would have loved to get an upper end MBP but they are over twice the price as the Sony.. So I get it home with the Vaio and it feels laggy and glitchy, it takes 2 seconds for the window to pop up after 'right clicking', I can see lines in the screen, the resolution seems far from HD when on the normal looking windows side (as opposed to the tablet look, forgive my poor terminology) and the web browser, and the touch pad seems to be hit or miss in that it doesn't always register the touch pad commands. I checked all of the visual and performance settings, made the resolution as high as possible, changed some of the settings to the high performance settings, made sure all of my drivers were updated, and the only effect was a very loud fan that runs constantly.
So in short, I am going to take this back and start looking at the macbook pros. Here's my dilemna, I don't know which specs I will definitely need in a Macbook Pro. I need to be able to run windows on it either in parallel or as a partition for my programs necessary for school. Can the MBP run windows smoothly enough to run 3D design types of programs? If so, which one should I get? I love the size of the 13" MBP but it only has a dual core processor, instead of the quad core like the 15" MBP, I'm not sure if I definitely need the quad over the dual core. I would love a solid state MBP but they are out of my price range and not enough space if I end up partitioning it.
Sorry for the book, but school starts Monday and I need some direction to find out which one I need to get fairly quickly. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Take a look at this MBP, a refurbished unit. Don't let the late 2011 release date put you off. For about $500 less than an equivalent 'new' one with similar specifications you get a quad core CPU and excellent graphics. As Steve359 mentioned, this can be upgraded if the need arises and has the same warranty as a 'new' one
I would not be surprised that these may actually be 'new' MBPs due to the length of time that they have been replaced by the current generation. I purchased a 17" model about 5 weeks ago, and a serial number check suggests that it is 9 weeks old.

Is there a way to open multiple windows in firefox 5.0? I can't do it from windows quicklaunch and the right click"open in new window" does nothing.

Yeah, not much more to say. Since I upgraded to firefox 5.0, I can no longer open multiple windows. Multiple tabs work, but I don't like tabs. Please help.

Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).
