Self assessed tax

Hello,
I have configured regime to rate flow and its calculating the tax as expected, but I have created a tax rule to calculate self assessed tax for NON-REGISTERED vendors. Now after i created this tax rule the EBT engine is calculating tax for all the vendors irrespective of their registration status.
could someone help me in resolving this issue..
regards,
Shilpa

I figured this out using the below note:
How to Configure a Tax to Self-Assess in R12 E-Business Tax (EBTax) and Payables (Offset, Use Tax) [ID 948414.1]
thanks.

  • Set up of Self Assessment Tax in R12.1.2

    Hi Experts,
I would like to know the setups related to calculation of self assessed taxes in payables.
I am able to calculate taxes based on Ship to location but taxes are not automatically checked as self assessed. I can manually check the box but expecting the system to do it automatically.
    Regards,
    Ramesh

    please check,
    - You would need to setup the rule based on the registration status
    - Enable the self assessment flag at the OU or establishment level
    - At supplier party level mark the supplier/site as registered or 'not registered'
    - enable the calculate tax flag in the 'Tax reporting' tab at supplier site level
    - then the system would mark the tax as self assessed if the registration of supplier is set to not registered.
    please consider the above steps.
    thanks.

  • Self assessed tax accounting

    1. When invoice is 3-way matched where accruals are done at receipt, the Use Tax amount is debited to the accrual account.
    2. But in reality it should be debited to the charge account and credited to the specific Tax account defined in the EBTax configuration.
Is this (#1) a standard behavior?
    Steps involved:
    1.     Create invoice, match it to the receipt (accruals are performed ‘at receipt’)
    2.     Click calculate tax
    3.     Override Use Tax (add amount and check self assessed checkbox) on the invoice
    4.     Validate invoice
    5.     Create Accounting for invoice
    6.     The ‘create accounting’ report reflects that the item line and the self assessed tax line are debited to the accrual account. Item line is then credited to a liability account and the self assessed tax line is credited to the specific Tax account defined in the EBTax configuration.
Question is why does the self assessed tax line is debited to the accrual account and not to the charge account?

  • Self-Assessed Tax Through Payables Open Interface Import

Does anyone know what fields are required to process an invoice with use tax through the payable open interface import? We have a custom interface in 11i that loads these invoices and validates nightly. However, in R12 we are using E-Bus Tax engine to "manually" check the "Self Assess" while creating invoices. How can this same process be done through the import????????

Have you customized/setup the Project Accounting Workflow builder. You need to do some setup for this workflow builder so that the project accounts can be derived properly.

  • Self-adjusting tax types for the US

    Hi everyone,
In the US, there are 89 tax types.  I know that UI and FICA taxes are self-adjusting.  How do I find out if say tax type 51 - ee occupation tax is self-adjusting?  This could tax authority dependent because say for tax type 51, one state may have a max/limit but another state may not.
Is there a way I can find this out?
    Regards,

    Hi there,
Currently, in the standard system, the following tax types have been
    hard-coded within U.S. payroll processing to self-adjust.

              08             Social Charge Tax

  • Use assessment tax reconciliation issue

    Hi all,
in my company there is an issue for use assessment tax U1, here is the example:
    1. GR-- receive consignment stock
    Dr        stock                                           3750
    CR       Consignment Liability account       3750
    2.  IR --- invoice vendor ( we use ERS settlement )
    DR      Consignment Liability account       3975
    CR      vendor                                          3750
    CR      Use Tax a/c                                  225
In reviewing the detail of Consignment Liability account, this results in a consignment receipt that does not equal the settlement invoice, leaving a debit balance in that account which equals to Use Tax A/C.
I guess my question is shall we calculate the use assessment tax  on GR so that Consignment Liability account will balance? how to make this reconciliation work?
    please advise, thanks!

    Hi Nancy
How can you calculate the use tax during GR?  I dont think it is possible at the stage of GR.
Use can calculate tax only at the time of IR.   But instead of posting the tax at the time of IR, it can accrued in a separate account so that your reconciliation does not get affected.
See below link from SAP help where the use tax accrual is discussed

  • Input tax - from 4.6 to ECC 6.0 calculates differently

Hello all, little issue here. Now i don't know if now it is working as designed and 4.6 was incorrect or if ECC6 is incorrect.  We just upgraded from $.6C to ECC 6.
In 4.6 Acct would post an accrual for use tax and it would post fine with out posting use tax automatically., they would just post it to a manual use tax account. They would post Db to Expense, Cr to Sales use Tax Manual - both would have U1 tax code - Self Assessed tax.  Exp line had differnt Tax Jurisd. Code then the Sales Use Tax manual account had, but still in the same state.  When i look at the Tax data, i would have base amounts, i would have Percentages, but i would not have any tax amount values, so there would be no additional postings to the entry, which is what they wanted and have been getting.
Now in ECC6 - same scenario, but however what the system is now doing is, it is increasing the expense line, along with the manual Sales and Use tax account, then there would be the Auto posting to the Sales and use tax account in OB40.  So now our accounts are overstated.  The only way to get ECC6 to react the same,is to make sure the two jurisdiction codes are the same, and it won't calculate additional lines.
Now i would think ECC 6 is working as designed, but if the amounts posting to the Auto post Sales and Use tax accounts are a wash, why is it posting and why does it increase the amount of the Expense account and B/S account first?  i need help in figuring if our 4.6 system was incorrect or correct, and if correct, how do i fix ECC6?
    PS- We are using Vertex.
    Thanks
    Sean Dwyer

One other thing that might be of interest.  When io click on the button for tax data, in 4.6, you would see a debit for one jurisdiction code(Federal), and a credit for the same code, then you would see a debit for the next code (State) and a credit for the same code, and so on for all the different areas.  But in ECC6, i see a debit for all codes (Fed, state, locl..) then i see the group of Credits for all codes.  now i am not sure if that has anything to do with the issue, but i am just grasping at straws.
    Thanks,
    Sean

  • Using old G4 to submit CT600 company tax return to HMRC, unable to submit

This is an odd one, was wondering if anyone else has come across this problem
I'm nurturing an old G4 as my main computer, as I still want to use the old Cinema Display monitor.
Last year (April 2012) I prepared my Company Tax Return CT600 for the HMRC, was able to  download the HMRC document (designed for Adobe Reader), change the Trust settings as instructed in the HMRC leaflet, and complete the form. I made a number of attempts to submit it - there is a link to click on the last page of the return to submit.  I got the rainbow wheel for several minutes, then a "submission failed" message from the HMRC "helpdesk".  Repeated calls to the Helpdesk produced no help, but the comment that they were looking at some problems with the software and compatability with old MACs.
I should say that I'd used their online service on the same computer for all the other company tax affairs, and my own self assessment tax, with no problems at all.
Because they were unable to solve the problem, they offered me the chance to submit a paper return, for that year only.  However, I went to my neighbour who runs Windows Vista, and he was able to submit the form for me with no difficulty after he had changed the Adobe Trust settings as instructed.
I assumed that HMRC would have addressed the compatability issue - if that's really what the problem is - by this year. But no - tried to submit for the current year, and same problem, rainbow wheel, followed by the "submission failed" message from HMRC, timecoded, so presumably the form at least tried to submit itself it to their servers.
So before I go round all my friends' computers with the file and try again, I just wondered if any vintage MAC enthusiasts who run small companies might have come across this one and found a work-around?  Or could it be an ISP issue, though never had problems submitting any other kinds of forms online to any other organisations.  I'm interested in finding out if there is a solution!

  • No use tax calculated

we are using ERS to invoice vendor, very odd thing happend: we can invoice 1 PO line, but we can't invoice the other PO line.
So user tried to manually settle the invoice for the other PO line using MIRO,  checked " calculate tax " , and we are using U1( self-assessment tax), but when user simulate the entry, it didn't calculate the tax and the entry looks like this:
    DR       AP GR/IR Account
CR       vendor account didn't show up but has the amount showed up and no tax claculated.
why is that happened? how to solve it? please advise.
normally accounting entry should be like this:
    Dr  AP GR/IR Account
    CR  vendor
    CR  Use Tax Payable

Check if your tax account is set up in Ob40, Not sure other wise why the tax isnt being calculated, you can post tax thorugh tcode Fb41seperately i guess, not sure so plz double check

  • Tax being calculated during Parking of Invoice

    Hello Gurus!
I have a problem with the parking of invoice using a specific Tax code in our dev. environment. I could not save the document due to an error message "Check not successful due to document balance". I created three line items (shown below), one is for the vendor and the other two are for the GL Account:
    1. Post. Key = 40; Vendor = 100000; Amount - 50,000.0000
    2. Post. Key = 31; GL Account = 600-24-00; Amount = 20,000.000; Tax code = "IC" (12%)
    3. Post. Key = 31; GL Account = 600-24-00; Amount = 20,000.000; Tax code = "IE" (Tax excempt)
After creating these line items, I noticed that the document already computed for the tax amount for line item# 2 which shouldn't be the case. Thus, giving the total Debit and credit amount a balance of 2400 as shown below:
    D - 52,400.000        C - 50,000.00       Balance - 2,400.000
As far as I know, the document will only compute for tax amounts as soon as this document is posted.
    How is this possble?
Need your expert advice on this matter.
    Thanks!
    Jeffrey

    Hi Jefferey,
As you are specifying a tax code in line#2, system calculates tax.
Normally when we post with tax,
    on Line 40:
    1. We manually enter tax amount in tax field
    2. or we use a self assessable tax code(Like U1) and check Calculate tax. System then calculates tax as per the rate.
    on Line 31:
We only specify the tax code by which system calculates tax.
I suppose you are not trying to enter tax amount or tax code on line 31.
    Assign points if useful

  • Charging Tax before Discount

It has been explained to me that some states, California is one of them, charge tax before the discount.  I can't seem to figure out how to get SAP Business One to support this.  Has anyone else encountered the same issue and if so, how did you solve it?
    Thanks in advance,
    Donald

    Hi Donald,
Whether the discount is in row level or footer, end result is the same - the tax is calculate post-discount... if you want to keep it within the core SBO product, you may be able to do it but it would require some setup.
A colleague of mine set up within the tax codes a way for a customer to calculate the self-assessment tax rate and such. You may be able to do the same here but it will depend on what kind of discounts are given - would it be on whole order and/or specific items. You would need a tax code to capture every variable, which could be a complex setup. Other way may be SDK.
If this is how taxes are calculated in the US, you have a good case for SAP to revise how taxes are set up for US localization by submitting a Product Development request that has legal requirements involved. I believe these are given priority. Submit a support message for this and they will have someone review the request.

  • Transactions not getting posted in Vertex but OK in SAP

    Hi all,
Am into an issue as follows:
I have 2 IRs posted to a PO. The tax code on the PO is AP Tax from Vertex but was changed to AP self assess tax in both invoice. One of the invoices got updated to the external system (Vertex) but the other one didn't. Compared the IRs side by side and they look exactly the same and was posted by same user.
Does anyone know about any process which happens for a self assess tax posting. Also the behind details of how a posting from SAP gets updated in Vertex.
I would really appreciate any answers and would assign points for the helpful.
    Thanks alot
