SemiColone (;) separated flat file

I Have a flat file which is semi colone separated.
Test;Test2;Test3
32;23;23
When passthruing it to ftp it failed to send to ftp .
Other files gets uploaded to ftp successfully.
Is there any specific reason for this.

Few things you could try are as:
Try to create a File send port and send this same file to a folder location.
Try to upload this same file to the FTP location using comamnd prompt instead using the FTP send port. Do this from the same BizTalk Server
I agree with others here, File content should not make any difference. You can enable logging to see more.

  • Pipe separated flat file upload

    Hi ALl,
Can any one tell me how to upload a flat file (field separator is pipe |) using the FM GUI_UPLOAD.
And than how to split the fields into there corresponding table-fields.
    Thanks in advance.
    regards
    satish.

Upload the flat file into a flat itab using the GUI_UPLOAD.
    Types: Begin of ttab,
           rec(1000) type c,
           end of ttab.
data: itab type table of ttab with header line.
After you have the data in the flat itab.  Loop thru it and split at the pipe(|).  Update another itab with your data.
data: Begin of itab2 occurs 0,
          field1(10) type c,
          field2(10) type c,
          field3(10) type c,
          endo of itab2.
    Loop at itab.
    split itab-rec at '|' into itab2-field1
                               itab2-field2
                               itab2-field3.
    append itab2.
    endloop.

  • Decimal point separator in flat file load

    Hi all
In BI 7.0 I'm stuck trying to load a csv flat file via DTP  (without extracting from PSA). The file I have to load has an euro amount field in this format:
    143565,56
but the load fails. The only way to load it's to open the csv with notepad and to "find and replace" the commas with dots before starting to load, in order to have:
    143565.56
I tried to modify the su01 settings for decimals separator, but without success, and I cant find any setting in the DTP. There is a way to load amounts whit the comma as decimal separator, avoiding to "find & replace" the file?
    Thank you in advance
    Francesco

Sorry but your hints dont work for me.
I checked in the Datasource Extraction tab and I specified the comma separator for decimal in User Select Entry, but without success (I tried both extracting from PSA and not).
I tried the su01 user setting for decimal separator, but it was already right (with comma), I think in the su01 you can set only visualization of amounts, for example in the Bex.
Before the upgrade at 7.0, the right decimal separator was the comma and we have a lot of excel macros that create csv with that decimal separator, so it's becoming a serious problem...
Just a question: where can I check, if exists a transaction code, the BW system setting for decimal and thousand separators (not the user's ones)?
    Thank you all
    Francesco

  • Flat files data comma separated using SSIS.

    Hi,
I have multiple flat files which come in comma separated columns. See example below :
    Customer Data
    CustID,FName,LName,Disease,Email,Phone
    12345,Xyz,Smit,Bronchitis, Asthma and fever,[email protected],80000000
    12346,Abc,Doe,fever Headache,[email protected],90000000
    12347,Klu,joe,Sugar, cough and fever,[email protected],12345678
Please look at the ID's 12345 and 12347. The disease column has a internal comma space between. How do i remove the comma spaces in the disease column, so that it can be loaded from flat file to sql table using SSIS. ?
    Please help !
    Thanks

Here is a full solution base on my post above (first option)
    1. create temp table (Give it a unique name):
    create table #T (Txt NVARCHAR(MAX))
    GO
    2. Insert all the data into temporary table. Each line in the text file, is a value for one column in a row in the table.
-- I will jump to the table and use simple insert.
-- If you have problem with step 1 then please inform us (this is simple bulk insert basically)
    insert #T (Txt) values
    ('1234435,Xyz,Stemit,Brfsdonchitis, Asthma and fever,[email protected],80000000'),
    ('12346,Agjdfjbc,Doge,fevhhhher Headsxdshhache,[email protected],90000000'),
    ('123447,Klu,joe,Sugar, cough and fever,[email protected],12345678')
    GO
the result should be like this:
    Txt
    1234435,Xyz,Stemit,Brfsdonchitis, Asthma and fever,[email protected],80000000
    12346,Agjdfjbc,Doge,fevhhhher Headsxdshhache,[email protected],90000000
    123447,Klu,joe,Sugar, cough and fever,[email protected],12345678
I use a SPLIT Function named Split_CLR_Fn. This is a CLR Split function that get input <string to split> and <string as delimiter,> and it return table with 2 columns ID, SplitData
For example if you use: SELECT * from Split_CLR_Fn('text1,text2,text3,',') then you get result:
    ID SplitData
    1 Text1
    2 Text2
    3 Text3
** You can find in the internet several good functions, I HIGHLY RECOMMENDED NOT TO USE T-SQL FUNCTIONS but CLR FUNCTION. Check thi link to understand why:
    http://sqlperformance.com/2012/07/t-sql-queries/split-strings
** This is the best function that I know about and I use it, but I change the code a bit to return 2 columns and not just the SplitData as in this blog: http://sqlblog.com/blogs/adam_machanic/archive/2009/04/28/sqlclr-string-splitting-part-2-even-faster-even-more-scalable.aspx
That's it :-) we are ready for the solution which is very simple
Solution 1 (BAD solution but easy to write):
    select
(select SplitData from Split_CLR_Fn(Txt,',') where ID = 1) CustID,
(select SplitData from Split_CLR_Fn(Txt,',') where ID = 2) FName,
(select SplitData from Split_CLR_Fn(Txt,',') where ID = 3) LName,
    STUFF((select ',' + SplitData from Split_CLR_Fn(Txt,',') where ID > 3 and ID < (select MAX(ID) from Split_CLR_Fn(Txt,',')) - 1 for XML path('')), 1 , 1,'') Disease,
    (select SplitData from Split_CLR_Fn(Txt,',') where ID = (select MAX(ID) from Split_CLR_Fn(Txt,',')) - 1) Email,
(select SplitData from Split_CLR_Fn(Txt,',') where ID = (select MAX(ID) from Split_CLR_Fn(Txt,','))) Phone
    from #T
    GO
Solution 2: better in this case since the format is constant (this is the solution I wrote about above)
    ;With MyCTE as (
    select
    Txt,
    SUBSTRING(Txt, 1, CHARINDEX(',', Txt, 1) - 1) as CustID
    , SUBSTRING(
    Txt
,CHARINDEX(',', Txt, 1) + 1 -- I start from the end of preview len
    , CHARINDEX(',', Txt, CHARINDEX(',', Txt, 1)+1)- CHARINDEX(',', Txt, 1) - 1
    ) as FName
    , SUBSTRING(
    Txt
,CHARINDEX(',', Txt, CHARINDEX(',', Txt, 1)+1)+1 -- I start from the end of preview len
, CHARINDEX(',', Txt, CHARINDEX(',', Txt, CHARINDEX(',', Txt, 1)+1)+1) - CHARINDEX(',', Txt, CHARINDEX(',', Txt, 1)+1) - 1
    ) as LName
    , RIGHT(Txt, CHARINDEX(',', REVERSE(Txt), 1) - 1) as Phone
    , RIGHT(LEFT(Txt, Len(Txt) - Len(RIGHT(Txt, CHARINDEX(',', REVERSE(Txt), 1) - 1)) - 1), CHARINDEX(',', REVERSE(LEFT(Txt, Len(Txt) - Len(RIGHT(Txt, CHARINDEX(',', REVERSE(Txt), 1) - 1)) - 1)), 1) - 1) as Email
    from #T
    select CustID,FName,LName, Phone, Email, SUBSTRING(Txt, Len(CustID) + Len(FName) + Len(LName) + 4, Len(Txt) - Len(Email) - LEN(Phone) - Len(CustID) - Len(FName) - Len(LName) - 5) as Disease
    from MyCTE
I hope that this is useful :-)

  • How to load flat file containing data(separated by commas) into cube sapbi.

    hi gurus,
please help me with this question?
i have some data in the flat file for example, address but with commas for ex:
h.no:123,colony,area,hyd-59.now i have even other columns in this flat file like customer name,age.....i want to know ,how to load this data into infocube. where in when it comes to address column sap bi takes it as a single column in the generated report.

    Hi Amulya,
To get reports on all ur records save ur flat file in .CSV format -> to do this open ur flat file, save as "filename.csv".
-> CSV is nothing but comma seperator value, sap supports two types of formats 1).csv and 2) ASCII format.
    we prefer .csv format.
check this link for step by step modelling.

  • How to get purchasing data from SAP R/3 to Flat files

    Hi,
Please can anyone help me to get the data from Purchasing extractors (2LIS_02_ITM, 2LIS_02_SCL, 2LIS_02_S012) to flat files? Here we dont want to load data from R/3 to BW for reporting, wanted to load data from flat files to OWB (Oracle warehouse builder) for reporting.  So Is there anyway to generate data into flat files from Purchasing extractors (Full and deltas)?
    Thanks,

  • How to create flat file with fixed lenght records

I need help to export an Oracle table to a flat file with fixed lenght and without columns separator.
the fixed length is the more important demand.
My table have 50 columns with varchar, date and number .
Date and number columns may be empty, null o with values.
Thanks a lot for any help.

    Hi,
    You can use this trick:
    SQL>desc t
    Name                                      Null?    Type
    NAME                                               VARCHAR2(20)
    SEX                                                VARCHAR2(1)
    SQL>SELECT LENGTH(LPAD(NAME,20,' ')||LPAD(SEX,1,' ')), LPAD(NAME,20,' ')||LPAD(SEX,1,' ') FROM T;
    LENGTH(LPAD(NAME,20,'')||LPAD(SEX,1,'')) LPAD(NAME,20,'')||LPA
                                          21                    aF
                                          21                    BM
                                          21                    CF
                                          21                    DM
    4 rows selected.
    SQL>SELECT *  FROM t;
    NAME                 S
    a                    F
    B                    M
    C                    F
    D                    M
    4 rows selected.Regards

  • SSIS Flat File Source not populating varchar column

I have SSIS package that imports flat files with column separator | from "Flat File Source" into the database trough "OLE DB Destination".
For one of the columns (file contains UIDs in curly brackets) destination column is varchar(250) null-able, when "Retain nulls" is set to true complete data have been imported, but when "Retain nulls" is set to false beside fact that in
the file data is not null and it is not empty string it is not imported and in the destination column is empty string.
I know that this "Retain nulls" applies to the columns that contains NULLs but this is not the case.
If someone have experience with such issue please help.
    Thank you in advance.

From your statement it looks like when you have curly brackets it skips the value and inserts nulls instead. And that may be the reason why its working fine when you change retain null value.
    I would suggest
Make your setting "retain null" to true and load the flat file, then check what happens to the values having curly braces (is there any value or null) , if there is value we need to check for that(please share a sample file). And if it having null
instead of "{value}", I would suggest to put a script task to remove { from your flat file and then try load the data.
    Hope this helps.
    Regards, -Amit

  • How to Extract data to a Flat File?

    Hello,
Im using OWB 10g and Oracle 9.2 version of database. I want to know the complete steps of creating the flat file as my target module. I need to extract the data (source) from the oracle tables and load it into the flat files. Pls let me know your suggestions. Pls note except the flat files, I do not have any oracle tables as my targets.
    Thanks,
    Kishan

Hi, here's an excerpt from some notes I wrote a few months ago, they shpoud be clear enough.
    0) the file will be created on the server using the utl_file package. So the path where the file will be created must be added to the utl_file_dir Oracle Server parameter. Request your DBA to complete this step.
    -In OWB client:
    1) create a file location (or use existing one) under "Files/Locations" in project tree
    2) create a new Flat File module (or use existing one) under "Files" ; associate it with the desired location (not really necessary)
    3) create a new mapping in an Oracle module
    4) add to mapping a table operator bound to the table to dump
    5) add to mapping un unbound Flat File (FF) Operator, give it a meaningful name
    6) drag the desired attributes from table to FF Operator. This will instruct OWB to feed the file with comma-separated values from the source table using the utl_file package. Be careful to format attributes accordingly to the format you want.
    7) reconcile outbound the FF Operator, creating a new flat file in the module created during step 2
    8) close mapping, right-click on it an from menu "Configure..."->"Sources&Targets"-><YOURTARGETFILE>, specify the desired output location and the output file name
    9) Open deployment manager and connect to runtime rep. If the FF location is new, register it by right-clicking+menu "Register" and specify parameters: operating system user/passawrd of the DB server, host and path where the file will be stored (must be the same added to utl_file_dir). ATTENTION: path info is stored in the generated mapping so be sure to redeploy mappings if changes occur
    10) deploy mapping, test execution
    11) OPTIONAL you can specify a different delimiter (TAB,etc) for the target file directly in its editor. But be careful then to reconcile inbound the FF op in the mapping before deploying.
    Cheers, Antonio

  • Unable to upload delimited flat file (Datastore)

    Dear All,
Drilling down the tutorial:  ODI11g: Creating an ODI Project and Interface: Exporting a Flat File to a Flat File
facing quite a problem while reverse-engineering delimited flat file (Datastore ->Model). No matter which type of delimited flat file is uploaded (txt, csv, prn), the system stayes intact while pressing "Reverse Engineering" button.  Changing to Fixed Flat File option reveals that the system uploads correctly only the first row - Header of the columns (second option from the top)..and ...of cource, all the rest of the rows were placed in the first column.
I was preparing delimited flat files using Excel 2007 and  2010, in both cases no success. I tryied to create Fixed Flat File with Excel....confused completely since I could not realise how doing that?!
    Properties are below. Please, help!

  • Problem in the BDC program to upload the data from a flat file.

    Hi,
I am required to write a BDC program to upload the data from a flat file. The conditions are as mentioned below:-
    1) Selection Screen will be prompted to user and user needs to provide:- File Path on presentation server (with F4 help for this obligatory parameter) and File Separator e.g. @,#,$,%,... etc(fields in the file will be separated by using this special character) or fields may be separated by tab(tab delimited).
    2) Finally after the data is uploaded, following messages need to be displayed:-
    a) Total Number of records successfully uploaded.
    b) Session Name
    c) Number of Sessions created.
Problem is when each record is fetched from flat file, the record needs to be split into individual fields separated by delimiter or in case tab separated, then proceeding in usual manner.
It would be great if you provide me either the logic, pseudocode, or sample code for this BDC program.
    Thanks,

Here is an example program,  if you require the delimitor to be a TAB, then enter TAB on the selection screen, if you require the delimitor to be a comma, slash, pipe, whatever, then simply enter that value.  This example is simply the uploading of the file, not the BDC, I assume that you know what to do once you have the data into the internal table.

  • Error when loading a flat file

    Hello,
I am trying to load a flat file into our BW for the first time.  I keep getting the error:
Error 1 when loading external data
    Message no. RSAR234
I have search SDN and looked at the OSS notes and have tried several suggestions, but I still cannot get the file to load.  We are currently on version 3.5.
My transfer structure and flat file do match.
My transfer structure for IO_MAT_ATTR has a transfer method of PSA and is laid out as follows:
    IO_MAT                      Material Number          IO_MAT
    IO_MATNM     Material Name          IO_MATNM
    IO_MAT is: CHAR 15
    IO_MATNM is: CHAR 30
My flat file is saved as a CSV and is as follows:
    MATONE,TEA
    MATTWO,COFFEE
My file is saved on my local PC and is not open when I try to load it.  When I attempt to preview the file in my infopackage, I get the same error there as well.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks
    Charla

    Hi Charla,
Error 1 means that the system is unable to access the file. Make sure that the path is correct and also check if the data separator is correctly defined in the "external tab" of the infopackage.
I guess the settings in the "external tab" of the infopackage have some issues.
    Bye
