Send a request without leaving the current page?

Hi,
I got a question here:
In a jsp page, when the user changed a option in a drop down box, I want the page to send a request to the server doing some operations on the database(probably use a bean) but still stay at the current page. How can I do that?
Another simple question is:
There're 10 elements/components in a FORM, and the user is changing the options in a drop down box (one of the 10 elements/components). Is there any way I can know which elements/components the user is playing with ?

it is your own risk to your applets to communicate with DBs because nobody suggests that. I agree with the Javascript story and the frames. It can be done but i thought he wanted to do that in one single page. And finally, i dont trust frames that much. I have seen many times the 404 error found on pages and because i use dynamic pages i have to make connection for each frame. and with throusands users being online it is bad for my server (traffic).

everytime i click the button, it will perform (set/reset) parallel port, and i have include a html page which consist a video streaming applet.Maybe cause of this:

In the middle of writing an e-mail, a pop-up occurred asking me whether I really wanted to leave the current page. I kept clicking on the stay-on-page answer, but it wouldn't respond.

After trying MANY times to get it to work, I tried to shut down my computer. Firefox prevented this and shot me back to their pop message (which wasn't responding to my attempted answer). It wouldn't accept any answer (stay or leave).

This procedure is a diagnostic test. It’s unlikely to solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
The purpose of the test is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party software that loads automatically at startup or login, by a peripheral device, by a font conflict, or by corruption of the file system or of certain system caches.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards, if applicable. Start up in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. You must hold down the shift key twice: once when you turn on the computer, and again when you log in.
Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, or if the startup volume is a Fusion Drive or a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to start up and run than normal, with limited graphics performance, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and Wi-Fi on certain models. The next normal startup may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually login automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem?
After testing, restart as usual (not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of the test.

Sending the current page in a mailto link

I want to create a mailto link that will attach the url of the current page to the body of the e-mail message.
I have created a display only item and added the following code to the default value:

(I have replaced the a tag with anchor so the code will show up)
This is working and opening up the mail client with a blank recipient list and the subject and body filled in. Now where I have "Copy and Paste link here", I would like for the URL of the current page to be filled in. Is there a way to do this?

SERVER_NAME and DAD NAME are described somewhere in APEX help - they are usefull if you need to switch between development/testing/production environment with different server host names and Oracle database names.

How do I stop "Are you sure you want to navigate away from this page? Press OK to continue, or Cancel to stay on the current page." from comeing up. It is new. Just started doing it yesterday morning.

I have used FireFox to play the Game Kingdoms Of Camelot, a facebook game. I also have Grease Monkey and a 3rd party add on. I leave it running 24/7 to gather food in the game for my army. It has run smoothly for 6 mo. Yesterday 2/04/11 in the morning it started asking for conformation when the page refreshed. i want to know how to stop this Box from comeing up it will not continue without refreshing and will not refresh untill th question is answered. How to remove Bean from session upon leaving the web page?

Hi...
I got the following problem
I promote a user with a Datatable filled with data, each time the user enters the webpage with the table I go the DB and retrieve all relevant data again (so each time the user gets an OnLine representation of the DB)
to archive that I defined the bean that pulls data from DB in Request scope. and it worked well... but now i added an option to export the table into Pdf made by a servlet.... now to be able to get the bean from the servlet i had to change the scope of the Bean to Session Scope... and all works fine.. BUT... now the page not showing OnLine representation of the DB.. cause its only created once , cause its inside Session Scope...
My question is how can I remove the Bean from Session scope upon the user leaving the page (I don't want to remove the bean from session scope on the next called bean of the other page) i want to remove the Bean upon leaving the current web page... Or maybe force the constructor to be executed each time the Page is loaded (as if it was a Request scope bean)....
Any ideas?

Hi,
When you are moving to another page, you are performing an action right ?
(i mean the request moving to Server side), if you do so, then clear the bean object values list.
for example :
private List<Integer> intList = new ArrayList<Integer>();
public void clear()
intList.clear();
or
store a new object in session, when ever u moved to the second page, so that the old object will be no longer
in use, so it will be garbage collected.Regards,

It is possible to get the current user (from the user's database on apex) and the current page? (I mean, if I'm in page 4 be able to query a variable / function or something which could give me the current displayed page)

If the user has authenticated, :APP_USER is the name that was used. The current page id is in :APP_PAGE_ID.
Although I showed bind variable notation for those, & substitution format and v() notation are also available for referencing developer-defined items or built-in names. See the User's Guide for more details.

In version 8 the "stop loading the current page" icon is missing. How do I get it back?

I just installed version 8, and even though the features page says that the "stop loading the current page" will be a part of the default navigation toolbar, that icon is not on the toolbar. How do I get it to be there

In Firefox 4 and newer versions, the Go, Stop and Reload buttons are combined in one button at the right end of the URL or Address bar. The button changes depending on the activity:
*green Go arrow when typing in the address bar
*red Stop ("X") button while page is loading
*gray Reload (circular arrow) when page is finished loading.

Back button doesn't work due to multiple history entries for the current page. How can I fix this problem?

This problem started February 2015. I have noticed it mostly while searching ebay. When I hit the back button it did not work. I right clicked the back button and found at least 2 and sometimes up to a dozen duplicate history entries for the current page I am on, meaning I would have to click the back button a dozen times to get to the previous page. I am using Firefox 35.0.1 on a Vista computer. I have not found any fix for the problem after searching the internet for hours. I have seen similar issues with people using IE and some say the duplicate entries are caused by banner ads but still no one has provided a good answer or fix for the problem. Please help.

I will leave further answers to users of ebay. Script or adblockers may ease the problem.

These are my preferred choices:
request.getRequestURI() will give you the relative path from root. For example:
/mypages/thepageIamon.jsp
request.getRequestURL().toString() will give you the full path. For example:
http://www.mysite.com/mypages/thepageIamon.jsp

I have had this same issue but thankfully fixed it. Follow he steps below:
Sync your iPhone with you iTunes therefore your info is backed up. Unplug your phone.
Go to Settings > Reset > Erase All Content and Settings
Once your phone has reset and come back on answer the question until it asks if you want to back up from itunes Click this then plug your phone in.
After everything has sync'd back to your phone everything should work fine.

How do I determine whether the current page in Forms is the last page.

I have a requirement of printing amount in words using SPELL_AMOUNT Funtion Module, in SAP Scripts.
When I have only one Item Line, I am able to successfully, print the amount.
The moment i have line items pouring to the next page, I see that the I am unable to retrieve the spelled amount from the Function Module.
I think may be i need to find out if the current page is the last page, and if it is so, print the amount on the last page, .i.e., the page where the item lines have overflowed to. How do i find this out.
Can anybody, suggest something.
