Sending a connection key from a Mac to a PC

It is very easy to send a connection key, but when I send one to PC from a MAC, I get this error "This connection key is only compatible with the Macintosh version of Contribute.".
Does anyone have suggestions on why this happening?

The network path is the location of the website in your organization’s local network. The network path includes the name of the server on which the website is stored and the directory path of the website’s files on that server.
For example, your network path might be \\mycomputer\wwwroot\ (Windows) or afp://server:volume: (Mac OS).
Note: If you are a Mac user, to create a LAN connection, make sure to mount the network volume of the server you are creating a connection to on your computer desktop before you create your connection. In the Finder, select Go > Connect to Server to mount the network to which you want to connect.
Hope this answers.

I am trying to send a 16gb file from my mac OSX panther to a mac OSX tiger. I prefer to do this as easily as possible, rather than as quickly as possible. I am about to rip my hair out as I really need to free up some space on this computer and for some reason can't figure out this, I'm sure, simple process.

Hello Again! What you you do is use Firewire Target Disk Mode. This connects the two with a firewire cable so you can do a straight disk to disk transfer.
This link will show you how to do it.

  • Sending Publisher Connection Key gives Admin Rights in Contribute CS4

I manage numerous remote sites around the country remotely using Contribute CS4. Each site uses a common template with different header images and left navigation.
All of these sites function beautifully except one. On this particular site, sending a publisher connection key allows the user to connect to and edit pages on the site. However, the connection shows my (admin) email address, gives the user admin rights, and then puts a lock (.lck) file on almost all of the files, including the .CSS file. It also gives odd messages about workflow errors.
From my end on the Contribute Administer Websites panel, the user shows up as publisher, but on their end, they have admin rights and my email address displays on their connection
I tried deleting all of the files in the _mm and _notes folders and starting over, but this did not fix the problems.
Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi,
Did you try re-creating Publisher keys for them, and sending it to your client? Also, with the existing key which your client has, what is the Role information for that connection key? This can be checked in the My Connections dialog.
Where is your e-mail address being shown? If it is in the My Connections dialog along with the connection name, then that is because the administrator's e-mail address is shown there.
    Hope this helps.

  • I can no longer send  texts via "Messages" from my Mac to non-Apple phones.

    Hi buribe215,
It appears you are unable to use SMS relay, a Continuity feature in Yosemite. The following article provides basic troubleshooting steps you may want to explore:
Get help using Continuity with iOS 8 and OS X Yosemite - Apple Support
If a Continuity feature like Handoff, phone calls, Instant Hotspot, or SMS messages isn't working the way you'd expect, make sure your devices meet the requirements. Then check your settings.
    Check System Requirements
Make sure your iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, or Mac meet the system requirements for Continuity, and for the specific features you want to use.
    Check your settings
Check the following settings on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch:
Go to Settings > Wi-Fi and turn on Wi-Fi if necessary.
Make sure your iOS devices are connected to the same Wi-Fi network by going to Settings > Wi-Fi and comparing the name of the network each is on.
Go to Settings > Bluetooth and turn on Bluetooth if necessary.
Go to Settings > General > Handoff & Suggested Apps and make sure Handoff is on.
Go to Settings > Phone. If you see Wi-Fi Calling, turn it off.
Check the following settings on your Mac:
Go to the Wi-Fi icon at the top of your screen and turn on Wi-Fi if necessary.
Make sure your Mac and iOS devices are connected to the same Wi-Fi network. Go to Settings > Wi-Fi on your iOS device and compare the name of the network with the Wi-Fi network on your Mac.
Go to the Bluetooth icon at the top of your screen and turn on Bluetooth if necessary.
In System Preferences > General, select “Allow Handoff between this Mac and your iCloud devices.” If you don't see this setting, your Mac may not support Handoff.
Open the FaceTime app, go to FaceTime > Preferences and turn on “iPhone Cellular Calls.”
Go to System Preferences, and sign out and then sign in again to your iCloud account.

  • TS4268 Verification email not received to activate FaceTime from additional gmail accounts on ipad. I have checked the spam folders and tried sending the activation email from my Mac as well but I'm still not getting them.

I'm not receiving the verification email to activate two additional gmail addresses for Facetime on my ipad air. I have been trying for over a week and the emails are not in my spam or junk folders. I have also logged into my Apple id from my Mac and tried to verify from there but I'm still not receiving the verification emails. Anyone know how to resolve this please?

In Mail Preferences/Accounts/each GMail account, set up the SMTP Outgoing Server for each account separately, going into SMTP name/edit/Advanced and specify the Username of each account.  The Outgoing servers must be two different servers, authenticated by the Username and Password of each.
Otherwise, the GMail SMTP server will change the from address to that of the account where the SMTP server was setup.

  • Sending large video files from a Mac to a PC

I have a Mac computer. My son has a PC. I want to send him some video files - some individual files are 12GB in size. I understand that 16GB flash drives will not help me because they have a limit of 4GB per file.
I thought I would put the video files on a hard drive with my Mac computer and send the hard drive to my son so that the video can be seen or downloaded on his PC computer. The video files are in HD high definition. But I'm sure there are compatibility problems I can't begin to conceive.
I know I could use TOAST to make a dvd-r of the video files that can be played on a dvd player- but they would no longer be HD. I have Toast 9.
Also - about these media drives - could I just put my HD video files on these new 'media' drives which can be connected to a TV ( that's the only other option I can think of ).
I've also heard of software called MacDrive8 which supposedly makes a hard drive accessible to both PC and Mac computers. Has anyone used MacDrive8?
How do Mac PC people share mega HD files these days?
More info - This video file of the recent Little League Championships is in mpeg-4 format. Would Real Player or QuickTime on a PC play them ?
As a last resort I could break up the video file into segments of 4GB or less and put them on a Flash drive - I think Mac/PC compatible Flash drives exist right ?
    thank you
    Pete

    Hi Pete,

The 4GB single-file size limitation is because of the FAT32 file system usually used on these flash drives.
An alternative would be to use the NTFS file system on these flash drives since it does not have the file size limitation and is also native for Windows PCs.
But, while MAc OSX can read and write from/to the FAT32 file system, it can only read from NTFS file system.
To enable write access to NTFS drives, you have to install a third-party file system driver like the free NTFS-3G http://macntfs-3g.blogspot.com/ or the commercial Paragon NTFS for Mac or Tuxera NTFS for Mac.

See my answer above. You run into the same compatibility issues as with a flash drive.
I know I could use TOAST to make a dvd-r of the video files that can be played on a dvd player- but they would no longer be HD. I have Toast 9.
Personally I wouldn't do this: too pricey (the discs) and not very praticable.
Also - about these media drives - could I just put my HD video files on these new 'media' drives which can be connected to a TV ( that's the only other option I can think of ).
Sorry, I don't know. Haven't looked into these devices that much.
I've also heard of software called MacDrive8 which supposedly makes a hard drive accessible to both PC and Mac computers. Has anyone used MacDrive8?
MacDrive is the "counterpart" so to speak to the above mentioned NTFS file system drivers for Mac OSX.
It enables Windows to read and write from/to drives (harddisk, flash drives, etc.) that use the Mac OSX file system (MacOS Extended).
How do Mac PC people share mega HD files these days?
Either NTFS drivers for Mac OSX or MacDrive for Windows.
More info - This video file of the recent Little League Championships is in mpeg-4 format. Would Real Player or QuickTime on a PC play them ?
Don't know. Don't use video files that much. Sorry

When using FAt32 file system every disk is compatible to Macs and Windows PCs.

  • Cannot connect remotely from another Mac

I recently purchased a MacBook Pro from a reseller which was on display because it was the very last one in stock. Because of that fact it came with the store's user settings, usernames, etc. I changed all the settings (at least I think I did) and installed all my software without any complications but just recently I tried sharing my MB Pro screen on my wife's iMac and OS X Lion does not recognize my user name and password.
I tried sharing my wife's iMac's screen on my MB Pro and that worked without problems. I also tested sharing my old MB Pro's screen on her iMac and it worked properly! I don't know what the issue is and I'm afraid I'll have to install Lion on my new MB Pro from scratch. I mean, I don't want to go through the hassle of installing all my software, transfering my files, etc. Please help!
    Thanks!!

I'm gonna give iChat a try and will let you know of my results. Thanks.
By WiFi Band do you mean "are they on the samen network"? Because if so, yes they are on the same network. I'm going to try creating a new user or logging in as Guest to see what results I get and will also let you know.
    Thanks again!

  • How send a text massage from my mac

    hey

Why would you want to pay for something you can get for free?  You can send and receive instant messages (IM) and SMS messages with a free AIM account.  You can even set up message forwarding to a cell phone for when you are offline.  You can access the AIM service via iChat that is part of OSX or with AIM's own app.  There are versions for OSX, iOS, Windows, Android and even a browser based client.

  • Connection keys for 2.0 users

I currently administer employees having Contribute 2, 3 and
CS3. New Contribute users get CS3 but old users are still on 2 and
    3. I also train users so I have all 3 versions on my PC. Since
installing CS3 I can no longer send connection keys to version 2
users who have had it reinstalled due to getting a new PC or having
an old PC re-imaged. When I try to use Contribute 2 to send a
connection key I am told that it is being administered by a newer
version of Contribute yet sending a connection key from a newer
version results in the users getting a message that the connection
key file is corrupt. How do I send connection keys to my version 2
    users?

I tried again this morning by entering the following:
    Identify Administrator:
    First Name: Edwin
    Last Name: McGee
    e-mail: [email protected]
    Next -->
    Name Workspace:
    Workspace: GUESTROOM
    Next -->
    Select Database Schema:
    Request a new schema
    Next -->
    New schema to create: PDAM
    Initial space allocation: 10MB
    Next -->
    Justify request:
Development and Testing via OTN APEX Forum.
    Next -->
Enter Verification code: blah-blah-blah-blah not really, but it doesn't matter what I enter here because it is different each time)
    Submit request -->
    Resulting page:
ORA-01400: cannot insert NULL into ("FLOWS_030000"."WWV_FLOW_PROVISION_COMPANY"."COMPANY_NAME")
    Error requesting Workspace: .
    Return to application.
It is interesting to note that the page where I enter the verification code does not show any of the data I entered previously (e.g. First Name, Last Name, etc.).
I am running Windows 2000 Professional with administrative privileges and MS IE 6.0.2800.1106 128-bit cipher SP1. I also have Java Plug-in 1.6.0_01and I am using JRE version 1.6.0_01 Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM. I suspect that this is probably a local issue, but did not encounter this problem when I initially configured my first workspace. Thanks.

  • Cannot connect to the internet from my MAC on WRT160Nv2 - no problems connecting from my PC

    Hi,
I have just bought a WRT160Nv2, but I am having problems connecting to the internet from my MAC (a powerbook with OS X) when I connect to the router wirelessly. If I try from my PC the Internet works fine. Also if I connect the MAC directly to the routers LAN port, the Internet works.
When I connect wirelessly from the MAC I do get an IP adress, and I am able to access the routers web configuration page. I can also see that the correct DNS gets assigned, so I am low on suggestions to what could be the problem.
Currently I have the router set up to WPA2 encryption, but I have tried different settings, e.g. no security at all with the same result.
I just tried upgrading to the newest firmware (WRT160Nv2_v2.0.02_008), also with no luck.
Also I should mention that the MAC can connect to other wireless connections without problems, e.g. my previous ZyXel DSL router.
Any ideas to what could be the problem?
    Thanks,
    Rasmus

Well maybe WPA2 Security is not compatible with Mac so change the Security mode to WEP or WPA and prepare security key of 10 digit password and while connecting to the wireless network on Mac type a $ sign first followed by the 10 digit passoword and it should work.
