Sending completion information without LMS

We don't have an LMS at this time. However, we would like know if the user completed the quiz. Any suggestions on what we can do? Would it be javascript?

You could try using the Internal Server for hosting the content and Quiz Result Analyzer to pull the result.
This would allow all the users (in the same domain) to post the result of their course to the internal Server.

AICC Captivate 4 won't send completion to GeoMetrix LMS

Hi,
I have a Captivate 4 course with several quiz questions. Completion criteria is pass/fail, scores only, report as score, report quiz results only. I am publishing in AICC format to the Training Partner 2009 LMS by GeoMetrix.
The LMS will recogize scores, but it does not register a completion status when the quiz is passed successfully. This results in subsequent course accesses remaining in 'credit mode' rather than the desired 'no-credit' or 'review only' mode. In other words, users can still change their scores after they pass, and they should not be able to.
Has anyone else experienced this issue with the GeoMetrix LMS? Is there a fix?

However you can try using SCORM CLOUD as an LMS to upload the published output.
Can you please try and upload the published output to an LMS called SCORM CLOUD.
You can create a free trial account on scorm cloud using the following steps:
Browse to the link https://cloud.scorm.com/sc/guest/SignUpForm
Now Create your free trial account.
Now publish the output in a zip format (in the form of SWF with reporting option enable and choose “Scorm” from the option)
Now sign in into scorm cloud and upload the course and launch the output.
Please check the result and let us know if it works fine.

Captivate 3 not sending correct completion information

Hi all, we are using Captivate 3, and are in the process of uploading our content to Element K's LMS. We have tested some of the content, and its marking courses complete even though the completion criteria have not been met. We have run through the content and achieved a failing grade, but the status changes to complete.
Here is how we have set up our courses:
In the Reporting Options, we have set Complete/Incomplete under Report Pass or Fail (Element K tells us they need this setting), Quiz Results only under Choose Report Data, Percent under Report Score to LMS as. We have selected Never Send Resume Data under LMS Customization Settings. In Pass or Fail options, we have 80 % or more of points to pass, and If failing grade Allow user Infinite attempts. We are publishing as SCORM 1.2 (required by Element K).
Can anyone shed some light on this? Should a Captivate course send "completed" to the LMS on a failed assessment? Help! We are under very tight deadlines, so anything anyone can suggest would be appreciated!

I've not lookede through the previous thread, but you've done variations on the settings?
You have tried Pass/Fail instead of Complete/Incomplete? Generally, if you want a score to show, you need to use Pass/Fail. That's not always true, but a score is generally not associated with Complete/Incomplete in SCORM 1.2 (in my understanding).
Have you tried the lesson through any test suite outside the LMS itself? That'd be my next step. The ADL Test Suite is the 'offical' tool for such testing but isn't very user friendly. Otherwise I'd suggest Rustici's Test Track

Run the lesson through some SCORM tester and see if the values passed are what you expect. If not, change the settings, publish, and test again. A lot more efficient, hopefully, than going through the LMS itself and allows you to possibly determine an LMS issue over a lesson issue.

IPhone sending user information to...?

Hello all,
I love my iPhone, but lately I have been haunted by the static interferences with it and my table-top speakers. However, that isn't the primary concern for now - I am concerned as to why the iPhone seems to be sending my information (without permission) out to service-provider/Apple/Government?
Many of us have noticed a string of static when a call, or data packets, is/are about to come (on almost any make/model of cellphones), or when we make a call etc. Considering that the phone conversation(s) require sending signals back and forth between the parties communicating, it makes sense for the speakers to have static. However, when a simple alarm goes off on the cellphone, that doesn't require any network's attention and/or talking to another cellphone user, what reason is there for the static to appear? What information is being sent when a simple alarm goes off, or even when I turn the phone on or off? Where is this information going to?
I have been noticing that since I got the iPhone, anytime I do almost anything with it, the static appears. It is as if all the "moves" are being recorded somewhere... Has anyone else noticed this? If you haven't, please do try it out...
I have nothing top secret going on in my life, but it feels weird to go through this...
PS: The static goes away when the phone is in Airplane mode

Sending first result to LMS

Hi,
I'm looking for the correct quiz settings so that when allowed to retake a quiz, the first results/scores
are not passed to the LMS, but the final scores are passed.
Also, I need to know what to set so that if a quiz is failed, how to get the "complete" status to pass
to LMS. My LMS (Rollbook) is looking for "mastery score" and score, so I want the failed result
to cause Cp to set status to complete. Or can I not do that at all? will failed always mean incomplete?

Further info: These are the course scenarios and results that I need to see.
1. course is presentation type method of content, without a quiz. Need LMS to display "completed/passed: without a score displayed
2. course is presentation type method of content with a quiz. 1 - 10 questions, user is required to take quiz and pass to consider course complete
- allowed 3 attempts to take and retake quiz, either first or subsequent sessions
- if first is failure, and user exits course window in LMS, need to display incomplete/in progress
- if final attempt is failure, and user exits course window in LMS, need to display complete and failed.
- if final attempt is passed, and user exits course window in LMS, need to display complete and passed
i.e., need to send complete status on final attempt, and actual result (pass/fail). And not send "max score"
3. course is presentation type method, with interaction in the Cp screens, with a quiz:
- allowed 3 attempts to take/retake quiz BUT want the retake to be the whole course, not just the quiz, so
would like the "continue" button on the results page to return to course start (so far continue only works
on attempt 1 and I've posted a separate problem on the continue button).
Need this course to work as described in #2 above.
Tried the course described in #3 today, and passed the quiz on first attempt, results displayed correctly,
but LMS displayed "incomplete". Achieving passed does not set status to complete, regardless the
number of tries on the quiz.

Mavericks Mail won't send login information to IMAP server

I am having a problem with Mavericks Mail not connecting to the Dovecot IMAP server. There appears to be many posts about similar problems, but none have the exact symptom I’m seeing.
Mail appears to not provide login information to any of my IMAP accounts. The iPad, iPhone, and Thunderbird on the same Mac all work with the same credentials. Just Apple Mail on the Mac fails. It fails for all user accounts on the same Mac. This has been a problem for a long time.
Connection doctor seems to indicate Mail is not sending login information. In fact, connection doctor shows the only thing working is the smtp server that doesn’t require a login. Everything else fails.
I’ve rebooted the Mac and the mail server.
I’ve repaired disk permissions.
I’ve recreated the account.
I’ve create a brand new account.
I’ve removed cache files.
I’ve re-indexed mail files.
Nothing works.

I believe the “WROTE” log line in Mail cooresponds to the “client in” line in Dovecot. The next line is a continuation going back to Mail. But, Mail never seems to read or process it. When Dovecot gets a successful login from Thunderbird, the login credentials were displayed in the log with another “client in” line.
Here is what I am using:

Where do I go from here? Has anyone seen this symptom before? How do I get Mail to send credentials to an IMAP server?

UTL_MAIL.SEND log information

Hi,
I am using utl_mail package to send email in html format.
I am able to send the emails successfully, but there is a delay in completion of my procedure holding utl_mail and delivery of the mail.
I guess the utl_mail.send will not wait for the mail to be completely delivered to the recipients mail box/ nor does this package return any output parameter.
How would i determine if the mail has been successfully sent to the concerned recipient?
Is there a log or an oracle table where in i can monitor/track mails sent through utl_mail.send.
Please also let me know if there are any specific defined exceptions for utl_mail package(ex: utl_file.invalid_mode)
I have been searchin for such information in books and documentations but with minimal use.
Please throw some light on this or direct me to any documents having these information.

This means that is accepted the mail from the client - in this case, from the PL/SQL code using UTL_MAIL. It had no problems with the SMTP conversation itself. However, it ran into some form of delivery/transmission problem attempting to process that mail - and that will (should) result in firing off an e-mail to the sender to inform the sender of the problem.
Not all e-mail received from the mail server like that are failures - it could be a simple warning. For example, if the mail server needs to connect to domain foo.com for delivering your mail, and the mail server at foo.com does not respond, the mail server will queue that mail and retry the transmission later. It may (usually do) send the sender an e-mail to inform the sender that there is a problem with transmission, that it is not an error, and that it will retry the transmission later. This is called a soft bounce (not yet an error).
A hard bounce will be for example receiving a mail from the mail server informing you that the recipient's mail box is full and that it cannot accept any mail. In this case, it is an error - your mail to that recipient failed. Or you may receive an e-mail saying that the recipient does not exist at that domain (no mail box found to accept the mail). Or you may hit a spam filter and the mail server telling you that it does not accept e-mail from your mail server. All such errors are hard bounces that result in the original e-mail being rejected for delivery somewhere along the line.
Also keep in mind that you do not know whether your e-mail arrived at its destination mailbox. There are no mechanisms in SMTP that allows that. You can mark an e-mail header with a tag that instructs the mail reader used by the recipient, to fire off a response e-mail to you when the recipient receives or open the e-mail. But this relies on that mail reader to honour the request. I always turn that option off in my mail readers.
The only way to determine e-mail delivery is to send a URL in the mail and asking the recipient to click it when receiving the mail - e.g. approach used for registering an e-mail address as an account with a web site. Send the same e-mail again in 24 hours when not receiving the URL click in response. After another 24 hours deem the recipient as not interested or not reachable.

BADI is just an object-oriented version of user-exit. Instead of entering program code into some function module (as in customer-exit), you define some class which has to implement predefined methods and those methods are fired at predefined points just like an old user-exit. Some BADI can have multiple independent implementations which is much better for software deployment as several developers can implement the same BADI independently.
Difference between BADI and User Exits
Business Add-Ins are a new SAP enhancement technique based on ABAP Objects. They can be inserted into the SAP System to accommodate user requirements too specific to be included in the standard delivery. Since specific industries often require special functions, SAP allows you to predefine these points in your software.
As with customer exits two different views are available:
In the definition view, an application programmer predefines exit points in a source that allow specific industry sectors, partners, and customers to attach additional software to standard SAP source code without having to modify the original object.
In the implementation view, the users of Business Add-Ins can customize the logic they need or use a standard logic if one is available.
In contrast to customer exits, Business Add-Ins no longer assume a two-level infrastructure (SAP and customer solutions), but instead allow for a multi-level system landscape (SAP, partner, and customer solutions, as well as country versions, industry solutions, and the like). Definitions and implementations of Business Add-Ins can be created at each level within such a system infrastructure.
SAP guarantees the upward compatibility of all Business Add-In interfaces. Release upgrades do not affect enhancement calls from within the standard software nor do they affect the validity of call interfaces. You do not have to register Business Add-Ins in SSCR.
The Business Add-In enhancement technique differentiates between enhancements that can only be implemented once and enhancements that can be used actively by any number of customers at the same time. Server Admin GUI not displaying complete information

Recently, the Server Admin GUI stopped displaying complete information for one of our servers. It works fine for the other.
All servers are set up very much the same, other than one is an Xserve and one is a G5 tower. The one giving the grief is the G5 tower.
Server Admin is version 10.4.7 and was working fine until a few days ago.
When I click on the computer name (or IP) in the "Computers and Services" list, then look at any of the tabs > "Overview" "Logs" "System" "Graphs" or "Update" no information is retrieved. With the exception of Hard Drive capacity.
All other services (Web, VPN, Mail) report all info without problems.
Weird, hey? Any thoughts appreciated.

As Apple has yet to upgrade iCalendar so I can check off my events as I complete them (no, I do not want to use a task list/reminder list), I want to be able to move my events to my "completed" events calendar as I complete them. The issue is that most of my events are repeating events, and it changes the entire series. How do I change only the event I clicked on using my iPhone?

If you change anything in a repeating calendar entry it will give you the option of disconnecting it from the series. So may any random change, choose to not change the series.

To remove your payment information open iTunes and go into your account. An easy way to access your account is from quick links on the store home page. After you login there will be a payment type listed with an edit button next to it. Click edit then select none under card type (next to visa, mastercard, etc).
Afterwards at the bottom of the page select done, then your card will no longer be on file. It will prompt you for a card next time you try to download something that isn't free.
