Thanks!

  • Can't Send Mail Via HughesNet SMTP Server

After installing 10.5 I find that I can receive mail from my ISP (HughesNet) but I can't send mail through the smtp server. I've tried every setting possible and even duplicated the settings off my wife's 10.4.10 iMac and I still can't send mail. All I see is that the smtp service is "Offline."
Fortunately, I have a .Mac account so I can send mail using that smtp server. But I'd like to be abel to use my HughesNet server.
    Does anyone have any suggestions?

My mom uses RoadRunner by Time Warner. She was able to receive email using Leopard and Mail but not send. SMTP server was the big problem like everyone else here experienced. We finally were able to get it to work using many ideas here. What we did:
    1) Delete com.apple.mail.plist from the User/Library/Preferences folder (BACK UP YOUR EMAIL FIRST)
    2) Open Mail and create a new account but disable the automatic set-up feature, put your info in manually.
    3) Uncheck " Use only this server" from the outgoing mail
    4) Under the Advanced tab on Mail Prefs "port set to 25", Uncheck "SSL" box, and uncheck "Use Authentication"
    5) Now hit Create
It took Mail about 20 minutes to contact the SMTP server, but it did and now I can send and receive Mail without any problems on her computer.
Bad Apple...stop criticizing MS and Vista when your own house is not in order yet. Hope this helps someone out there.....

  • Write error. [Error sending mail message to SMTP server. Return code: [].]:

    Hi ,
I am getting the below error when scheduling a report which is larger in size in excel format.
write error. [Error sending mail message to SMTP server. Return code: [].]: [CrystalEnterprise.Smtp]
The same error does not come up when sending the same report in XLS format using outlook.
Can some one confirm if this error is because of the size of the report as I see a different error in XIR2 incase the size the exceeds the email server limit.
    ~Neethi

    Hi,
    this could be
Maybe you have different limits for service smtp account (which the BO Server should use) and User smtp accounts.
Thats why you can sent it via outlook and not from the BO Server.

  • Send mail without local SMTP server

    Hey guys,
Are there any API packages, that one can use with Java mail API to encode a mail to SMTP and send to receipent mail host directly. (without using a local SMTP server)
I am not talking abt bulk mailer packages. Just an API package that we can program to.
    Appreciate your help guys
    thanx !

Ex: I want to write a simple SMTP client.
But i don't want the user to have to input a smtp server address. This is similar as if you wanted to write a simple browser - without wanting to bother the user to provide the URL's to browse!
There is no "default mail host". Can not be generally - the network situations can be considerably different. One box is a standalone one with maybe a modem link, the other is on a LAN, the third one is a multi-address host itself bridging a LAN and a WAN etc.
    De nada.

  • Sending mail with new SMTP server

I recently switched from a tel.internet provider to COMCAST cable.
I want to use my MAIL program, but each time I try to send mail, a box appears on my screen showing my old provider. I then have to click and the mail goes out.
I have reset my COMCAST settings properly. COMCAST says it is a Apple computer setting problem. What steps do I have to take to get my MAIL to work properly?

  • Write error. [CrystalEnterprise.Smtp]: [Error sending mail message to SMTP

    Hi,
The below error messgage i am getting while scheduling report in CMC. My report getting refreshed successfully but while posting refreshed file(Excel) it is not posting and throwing below error.
    Error Message:
write error. [CrystalEnterprise.Smtp]: [Error sending mail message to SMTP server. Return code: [].]
please provide some help on this.
    Thanks
    Vivek

    Hi Vivek
Mails to the destinations are delievered by SMTP server. Size of the file in the mail depends on the SMTP server.
For example, If SMTP server does not permit file size more than 2MB then that file won't be delievered.
For testing purpose copy the instance generated in Filestore to your local drive and send this instance using your mail client to
    desired destination.
You can try sending large size file from your mail client to test SMTP server capacity of sending large size file.

  • Mail to blocked SMTP server stalls mails to other SMTP servers

    Hi,
I have a particularly weird problem.
In Mail.app I have a Mobile Me account, a personal IMAP account and an Exchange account (working over IMAP etc. as it's Exchange server 2003 so I don't get all the fruity Snow Leopard/Exchange goodness).
The problem I have is this- in the office they block access to external SMTP servers (quite rightly).
If I send a mail through my Mobile Me or personal IMAP account and forget to tell it to use the internal work SMTP server then Mail.app will sit forever trying to connect to the external SMTP server and never time out (or if it does timeout it must be more than a few hours).
This isn't a huge problem in and of itself. However from this point on any mail I send will sit behind the stalled e-mail in the queue and never go out- so even my internal mails hang around not sending.
The only indication of this is the non-stop spinning wheel on the sent items folder and the never-ending 'Connecting to smtp.me.com' in the activity window.
The only way to resolve this is to go to the activity window and cancel all connections to the offending SMTP server. At that point the 'Outbox' folder will appear in my folder list and show me all of the e-mails it hasn't sent. I then have to open each one individually and click send again, at which point they go out (provided they still have the correct internal SMTP server selected).

    Ernie,
Thanks for the response. I have previously seen Mail.app fail to send and bring the message back up telling me this- but that usually happens quite some time after trying to send, if at all, and I don't recall ever having this error happen in the office (where they are blocking these ports).
I have had similar issues when travelling and trying to send through hotel networks that typically block port 25- even then I rarely get a failure message (note that this has been happening both on 10.5.x and my clean install of 10.6.x)
    I did check to see if the network here was doing some spoofing on SMTP ports but it isn't;
    #####:~ #####$ time telnet smtp.me.com 25
    Trying 17.148.16.31...
telnet: connect to address 17.148.16.31: Operation timed out
telnet: Unable to connect to remote host
    real 1m15.019s
    user 0m0.002s
    sys 0m0.003s
I get the same 1m15s timeout on port 465 & 587, yet Mail.app never seems to give up trying.
I tried sending to an external SMTP server without SSL to see if the behaviour was any different- but after 15 mins it's still trying so I guess not.
    Weird.

Hey guys, I'm new on here so apologies if I have posted this wrongly.
Does anyone have any experience of sending Mail via AOL's server?
My ISP is BT Total but am using the free online AOL/AIM mail.
Would I be better to get a 'free' SMTP/IMAP server for my PC then relay email to my AOL/AIM account?

  • TS3276 I just upgraded to 10.8.2 and Mail is having a problem. It won't remember my password for getting mail; but it does remember the password for sending mail, i.e., smtp. Does anyone know of a fix?

I just upgraded to 10.8.2 and Mail is having a problem. It won't remember my password for getting mail; but it does remember the password for sending mail, i.e., smtp. Does anyone know of a fix?

The solution surprised even me, and we've been using Macs since 1984 (still have an original 128K).
I contacted Apple support, and because we had just upgraded yesterday, clicked on the "exception" button as opposed to paying the $19.99 one-time support fee. An Apple tech called and the problem was solved in two minutes.
Somehow during the installation of OS 10.8.2 (over 10.6.x) the key chain data for my email ISP login password got corrupted. The solution was to delete both the POP mail and SMTP entries in my keychain.
Back to Mail, it asked for the POP password, I entered it and bingo, mail got busy downloading. Interestingly, the password was also entered into the SMTP panel.
So, that's it. Thanks for you response, Mr. Hoffman, and regards.

  • My e-mails are not sending. "connection to SMTP server timed out." How do I get this working?

As of yesterday, I am receiving e-mails fine; however, unable to send. Everytime I try to send an e-mail, I get "Sending of message failed. The message could not be sent because the connection to SMTP server (my mail address) timed out. Try again or contact your network administrator.
I received help from lunarpages (they host my domain); however, they were unable to resolve the issue. They suggested something is blocking IP, or need to update Thunderbird, or there's a firewall there...
    Help!!!
My clients are waiting for responses to e-mails!
    Thank you.

To diagnose problems with Thunderbird, try one of the following:
*Restart Thunderbird with add-ons disabled (Thunderbird Safe Mode). On the Help menu, click on "Restart with Add-ons Disabled". If Thunderbird works like normal, there is an Add-on or Theme interfering with normal operations. You will need to re-enable add-ons one at a time until you locate the offender.
*Restart the operating system in '''[http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Safe_mode safe mode with Networking]'''. This loads only the very basics needed to start your computer while enabling an Internet connection. Click on your operating system for instructions on how to start in safe mode: [http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-8/windows-startup-settings-including-safe-mode Windows 8], [http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/start-computer-safe-mode#start-computer-safe-mode=windows-7 Windows 7], [http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/start-computer-safe-mode#start-computer-safe-mode=windows-vista Windows Vista], [http://www.microsoft.com/resources/documentation/windows/xp/all/proddocs/en-us/boot_failsafe.mspx?mfr=true" Windows XP], [http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1564 OSX]
; If safe mode for the operating system fixes the issue, there's other software in your computer that's causing problems. Possibilities include but not limited to: AV scanning, virus/malware, background downloads such as program updates.

  • Using javamail to send automatic mails to an smtp server

    hello every body
i'm trying to develop an application which will be implemented in a entreprise network (it's a project for my studies).
this application will be web oriented and will consist on sending automatic mails to persons using the mail server of the entreprise.
so i don't really know how to act, because i have to test my application by simulating the use of the mail server and i don't know how tu use a mail server for that, neither how to define the sender (because the operation will be automatic by a program), in other terms, i'm trying to send mail in a local network wich is connected to the internet.
    thanks for ur answers

You can find "simulated" mail servers, good for
testing, but it's probably not worth the effort.
Just use your real mail server.
Best would be to create an email address on your
local mail server and use that as the From address
    for your automated mails.
Don't forget to read the JavaMail FAQ.

  • CANNOT SEND MAIL FROM .MAC SMTP ACCOUNT

    Hello everyone--
I can receive mail from my .mac account and have done extensive troubleshooting including:
    1. Changing ports from 25 to 587
    2. Deleting and re-installing mailbox
    3. Reading a hosts of topics
    4. I have the serving settings with SSL unchecked
...but this still giving me the same trouble. I cannot send out because my email address keeps getting rejected.
    Any suggestions? Thanks!

Are you also accessing an email account and SMTP server in Mail that is provided by your ISP used for connecting to the internet?
If so, can you send mail with this account and SMTP server?
If the answer is yes to both questions, select/use your ISP's SMTP server to send mail with your .Mac account which is invisible to all recipients.
Most, if not all ISPs now block the use of SMTP servers outside of their network on Port 25. Some ISPs allow the use of an authenticated SMTP server only (such as the .Mac SMTP server) that is outside of their network on Port 25 but some block its use regardless.
Changing the Port for the SMTP server that is outside of the ISP's network from 25 to 587 usually resolves it but sometimes not depending on the ISP's restriction.
Have you contacted your ISP regarding their restrictions and/or requirements when using an SMTP server that is outside of their network or not provided by them?
Using your ISP's SMTP server to send mail with your .Mac account should work and it may be required regardless.

  • Cannot send emails - connection to SMTP server timeout

I cannot send emails from my Thunderbird. Every time I try, an error message shows up saying that the connection to SMTP server has timed out:
    "Sending of message failed.
The message could not be sent because the connection to SMTP server smtp.lineone.net timed out. Try again or contact your network administrator."
I have looked at many different possible solutions and tried them, but nothing seems to be working. I have tried several different ports, failed to send in Safe Mode with Networking and Thunderbird safe mode without add-ons and tried many different settings. I have ensured that the my settings on Thunderbird match the settings that my ISP recommends. My anti-virus software is not affecting it either. Maybe there is something I am missing but I would really appreciate any suggestions!
    Here is some general info:
    Mail provider: lineone
    ISP: BT
    Anti-virus software: AVG
    OS: Windows Vista
    Thunderbird version: 31.5.0

    Hello @shredo,
Firstly, I would suggest reading this support article: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/cannot-send-messages
If that doesn't help, try some of these things (not sorted in any particular order):
*Test your connection in another network. There might just be some blocked ports in your router or conflict of some sort.
    * Test your smtp settings in another email client (to ensure that they actually work). If it doesn't work, there might be some missmatch with the settings (even though you have ensured that they match), or some restriction by your router or something.
    * Apparently, compacting your thunderbird folders might help with this issue (something to do with too many "deleted", that are still there) - http://kb.mozillazine.org/Thunderbird_:_Tips_:_Compacting_Folders
    I hope this helps.
