Sequencing the MS Office 2013 for App-V 5.0 SP2

Dear Frenz,
                 I'm referring to the following for Sequencing MS Office 2013,
                 http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2915745/en-us
I got stuck at packaging the Application (\\server\Office2013\setup.exe /packager \\server\Office2013\Customconfig.xml\\server\share\Office2013AppV).
           Step 01:So far I have the downloaded and extracted the ODT in
\\Server\office
             Step 02:Downloaded the office application in
\\Server\share
Eg: office\data\.cab files are in \\server\share
             Step 03:
while packaging the application the below command is not working (its only showing the help options)
\\server\Office2013\setup.exe /packager \\server\Office2013\Customconfig.xml\\server\share\Office2013AppV****************************************************************************************************** Kindly help me to understand, what I missing here.Regards,
Julie

Have you tried using a local path to create the package instead?

  • My Windows Store (beta) is missing MS Office 2013 Preview apps

    I used to have Win 10 TP (9926) on dual boot setup, and I had MS Office 2013 Preview apps installed.
    Lately I removed the dual boot and installed Win 10 TP as the sole OS. At the same time I installed various programs I use regularly, one of which is MS Office H & S 2007.
    Only today while reading a question about 2013 Preview apps, I decided to look for them in the Beta Store.
    The 2013 Preview apps are no where to be found.
    Not that it matters. I just wonder what happens ?

    Have you tried typing "office" in the search box up at the top?  That's how
    I found them.
    As for the apps them selves, they worked once for me and never again, no
    matter what I do. (some apps work, some don't in my installs)

    That will give me my installed 2007 version, not the 2013 Preview.

  • Office 2013 for mac.

    Hi Apple people.
    I just wanna know that if u have something idea about "Office 2013" for mac.
    U know what i mean, the office 2013 that is not the subscription one.
    I dont wanna use the office 365 because its no sense at all. I want the whole software which i can use whenever i want until i want to uninstall i
    Are'nt the Microsoft will build a Office 2013 for mac?
    I hope they will make so.
    Or maybe i should just buy the Microsoft Office 2011 for mac instead incase of there will be no office 2013.
    I'm new to mac world, i havnt install any office software yet. I was looking at the office 2011 but i said there will be a 2013 version,
    but i get disappointed to know that there are no office 2013 for mac.

    While only Microsoft knows its plans for Office for Mac, it's clear that Microsoft is pushing users to a subscription base rather than, as you put it, "software which i can use whenever i want until i want to uninstall i," which happens to be what I prefer, too. Yesterday, I installed the free Office 2013 upgrade after having recently purchased (the 3 user pack) and installed Office 2010 on a Windows Virtual Machine. First, you get one 2013 license whether you bought the 1 or 3 user Office 2010 install, whereas the Office 365 upgrade choice (you could pick either with the Office 2010 purchase) gets you five installations, at least for one year. Second, I believe you can move those 365 installations around, while with the computer based install, you can't deactivate it on one machine and reuse the license on another, at least not without dealing directly with Microsoft. Third, the subscription system is supposed to get you any full upgrades (e.g., 2013 to 2015), while the disk based 2013 is it; you'll have to buy 2015 fresh, if there even is such a thing by then. So you can see the push is towards subscriptions by making them a much better deal, at least price-wise.
    On the other hand, I was surprised to find that the 2013 installation didn't delete the 2010 installation. And in comparing the two, the 2010 interface is more pleasant to work with, and if you don't need or trust the Cloud, the big new feature in 2013 is the ability to open and edit pdf files. Some quick tests of that suggest that on simple pdf's, the feature works pretty well, but add a bunch of graphics and/or complex text flow, and it's the difference between uncooked and cooked spaghetti.
    Finally, there are free office clones available, such as LibreOffice http://www.libreoffice.org/download or OpenOffice http://www.openoffice.org/download/other.html which can get the job done, though they're not quite MS Office.

    MS' recomm still is to use the 32 bit version of office unless your users have really large (excel) files that would benefit from x64: http://technet.microsoft.com/library/ee681792(v=office.15).aspx

  • Hi, kindly let me know the mode of payments for apps from apps store applicable from India.

    Hi, kindly let me know the mode of payments for apps from apps store applicable from India.

    The valid payment methods should show on the payment details screen on your account - in India they are Visa, MasterCard and AmEx
    Credit cards of those types should work, if you try to use a debit card then it might not be accepted, not all debit cards appear to work in India e.g. Re: can i download from itunes using debit card in india ?

  • What is the best office program for mac dealing with arabic language?

    what is the best office program for mac dealing with arabic language?

    The best word processor is Mellel.  TextEdit, Nisus Writer, and Open/Libre/NeoOffice should also work OK.
    MS Word for Mac does not do Arabic, but I am not sure about Excel and PowerPoint.  If not, OpenOffice would be the only option.
    iWork has bugs that probably make it unsuitable for RTL for most people.

    Hi, I have bought the LIP for chinese traditional for my office however when I install nothing happen. Even I already check the language install from microsoft office they sai not installed?

    Launch Office Tools - Office 2013 Language Preferences and check whether the Chinese Traditional shows installed or not. (Tool is Located in"C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office 15\root\office15\SETLANG.EXE")

    If you purchased an Office 365 subscription you can use it to install Office in different languages instead of buying a Language Pack.

  • Office 2013 VL App-V 5 packages

    Hi,
    We are currently assessing the possibility of deploying Office 2013 as an App-V package since support for VL was announced with MDOP 2013 R2.  I would like to create three independent packages:
    Office 2013
    Project 2013
    Visio 2013.
    I have successfully created the three App-V packages and they can all be imported an published independently.  When I deploy more than one package to the same machine the existing package is un-published and the new package published. The aim is to
    be able to deploy the Office App-V package to everyone and only deploy Visio and/or Project to certain users.  Currently I can only achieve this by creating multiple App-V packages all including Office (i.e. Office + Visio, Office + Project and
    Office + Visio + Project). Is there a supported way to have independent packages of Office, Visio and project 2013 which can co-exist on the same machine (for example, could I use connection groups between the independent packages?)
    Thanks.

    You should be aware of a few things:
    Office App-V Packages must be published globally due to the OS extension points some of which won't work if published to users. See this article for more details: http://technet.microsoft.com/library/dn481351.aspx
    Office, Visio and Project in separate packages may impact the user experience
    Volume License editions of Office are licensed per device, so targeting users may place the organisation in breach of the licensing agreement

    The Definitive Guide to Delivering Microsoft Office with App-V
    Thanks for your answers guys. It does seem the only way to achieve this is to have a single App-V package and use multiple configuration files to determine which combination of applications are published.  Far from ideal...

  • Office 2013 Std (local) in combination with Office 2013 Pro (App-V)

    Hello,
    I have multiple RDS servers, that have Office 2013 Std installed locally. I did this on purpose, after reading some blogs pointing out Office 2013 is a complicated applicatie to stream well. And of course Office 2013 is highly critical to my clients.
    So I have a local installation of Office 2013 Std on every RDS server.
    The catch is, that the client also has an open license for Office 2013 Pro. This is because some users need to work with 'Access 2013'.
    So I thought it would be nice to use App-V to stream Access 2013 to the RDS servers. I have created the package for Office 2013 Pro, with Access in it. And I succesfully published Access 2013 to the group of users. So I can use Access on the RDS servers.
    The problem is, that when I click on the appliation "MSACCESS.exe", the application pops up in taskmanager and is immidiatly shut down again. So it never launches. No error, no nothing.
    I can't find any directions in the server, applicatie or App-V logs in the eventviewer. Does anyone have a clue where to look?
    Thanks in advance

    I think to be on a safe side, using a 'true' control system like AppSense or using dedicated RDS servers would be the only legally valid option.
    Even when Office (or at least Access) is virtualized, the licensing part and product key handling is done natively on the RDS servers by the 'Office 2013 Deployment Kit'. Besides others this includes a locally installed 'licensing stump'. Therefor there
    can be only one Office Suite product key be assigned to a RDS server machine.
    In fact you could tell the Deployment Kit to use the Office Pro key (allowing a virtualized Access to run), but then also the locally installed Office Version would (attempt to ) be licensed as 'Pro'. That potentially won't work. In fact you could re-configure
    the local Standard Office installation to consume Pro licenses, but that doesn't fit to your legal licenses.
    As Aaron write, legally an Office license is bound to the endpoint device, so you'd have to make sure that your Access App-V package can only be access by permitted client machines. And while App-V can filter application on the accessing user and the executing
    machine, it can't filter on the accessing end-point.
    Though we don't like it... 3rd party or a server silo seem the way to go.

  • Office 2013, Mail app error with W8.1

    Hi,
    Was recommended to repost in here, hope someone can provide a solution.
    New to this forum, have searched and not found anything in regards to my actual issue.
    Problem,
    When you install Office 2013 Home and Business onto Windows 8.1 either an upgrade to 8.1 or a fresh install, I've found the mail program in Control Panel won't open.
    You can't call apon the program from RUN or CMD, you can't even call apon the Mail app from Program files\office 15\mlcfg.clp right click and select Open in Control Panel.
    This issue has arisen with Windows 8.1.
    scenario, New Dell OptiPlex 3020 & 9020, You Install Office 2013 Home & Business either OEM or the OEM Builder pack, before or after then run the Windows 8.1 upgrade from the Store, attempt to open the Mail app in Control Panel and the
    Mail app ceases to respond.
    Yet, you are able to open the Mail app before the upgrade.
    I just did a fresh install for a customer of Windows 8.1 OEM on an ACER laptop, tested with OEM media and the OEM Builders Install package, 32x & 64x installs and both failed to open the Mail app in Control Panel.
    Actually the first install I performed didn't install the Mail app icon in Control Panel at all.
    The only way I've found to rectify this issue is to run a full repair from Programs in Control Panel, which takes a while to run.

    Hi ATR80,
    As this thread has been quiet for a while,I would like to know if the issue happend again after you solved the issue by running a full repair from Programs in Control Panel?
    If the issue persists,please try the method as I mentioned above to see if it works.
    Meanwhile,if you need further assistance, feel free to let me know. I will be more than happy to be of assistance.
    If the suggestion is helpful, please remember to mark it as answer which can benefit others who may encounter the similar issue as yours.
    If you have any concern about this behavior, you can just unpropose it.

  • Office 2013 for O365 Intune Install (Click to Run)

    Hi Forum
    I have been trying to push Office 2013 click to run install through Intune.
    I want to use the source files in the Cloud rather than on a Network Share.
    So far I have:
    Downloaded the OCT and downloaded the Setup.exe and the Config.xml
    Changed the config file (a few times, testing and got this working using cmdline)
    I have run the /download and the /configure switch and managed to get this installing from the Cloud locally but not from Intune
    In Intune, I upload the Setup.exe (as primary) and my custom config.xml (is included) using this cmdline I deploy: setup.exe /configure configuration.xml (which managed to install the software locally)
    Then Deployed to the App Portal, I run the install and it fails at 50% every time.
    I have left the source path "empty" and with
    http://officecdn.microsoft.com/pr/?????????????? (link come from downloading .cab files)
    Is there something I am doing wrong?
    Thanks in advance
    NN

    HI,
    I wondered if anyone can help. I too would like to able to install Office 2013 from my Office 365 account to all PC's using Intune.
    I have tried to follow the documentation but cant get this to work. Here is where I am so far:
    Downloaded Office Deployment Tool for Click to run
    Ran the setup /download "Path to Config File"
    Used this Config file
    <Configuration>
    <Add OfficeClientEdition="32" >
        <Product ID="O365ProPlusRetail">
          <Language ID="en-us" />
        </Product>
      </Add>
    <Display Level="None" AcceptEULA="TRUE" />
    < Logging Name="OfficeSetup.txt" Path="%temp%" />
    </Configuration>
    This downloaded OK but not sure where. I am unsure what to do after that. I am, at this point just trying to get it working locally. I ran
    setup /configure "Path to Config File"  that prompted me to run the Click to run install, however, this just flashes up on the screen and is gone.
    Please advise, I don't know when this should be so difficult
    Regards
    Jason

  • Publishing office 2013 on app-v server

    Hi,
    I'm trying to publish an office 2013 package that I have created using the ODT.
    The technet guide (http://technet.microsoft.com/en-gb/library/dn817830.aspx) I am using is telling me to use this command 'Add-AppvClientPackage <Path_to_AppV_Package> | Publish-AppvClientPackage
    –global'  from the client and then 'From
    the Web Management Console on the App-V Server, you can add permissions to a group of computers instead of to a user group to enable packages to be published globally to the computers in the corresponding group.' from
    what I can see it has worked as in I can now open word, excel etc.. but the package has not  appeared on the appv server yet to allow me to configure permissions. Before attempting the above command I tried importing the package directly into the app-v
    web management console but the app-v client could not see the package although it was in the correct security group.
    Any pointers?
    Thanks

    + note that it may take several minutes (10+) before a new published package appears on the client
