SERIOUS FLAWS IN LAPTOP

hello ive got a hp pavillion g6 it seems to get hot really quickly and by quickly i mean like 10mins its only 6months old also to the extent where the vga port next to ventilation holes can burn you been burnt many times by i keep it well ventilated. this is design flaw i think if you plan on designing a laptop revise how big the vents are for cooling and make sure the side were the vents are arent cluttered with vga, usb, hdmi, sd+mmc ports etc hint put some on the front! it will leave more space for ventiltion and improve the performance of the laptop. im 18 and i find it quite painful when it burns me it leaves marks on skin for a few days also, plus if a small child were to touch the arwa were it is overly hot it will cause them severe pain. I myself have put up with it as i dont like to cause problems as getting it replaced and losing all my data but this just isnt my laptop a few of mates also have the same laptop and the experiance the same problems i think you should seriously revise your design layouts of your laptops. this is the exact model i have hp pavilion g6-1154sa notebook pc

yes, i have the new itunes. I think my ipod software may be out of date but i dont know how to update it if i cant even plug in my ipod.

  • Serious flaw in updater for windows on iPod Photo (plug icon)

When I ran the new updater (on windows) it says very briefly that I have to plug the ipod into the power to complete the firmware. I didn't see this message the first time so I thought I had to reset my iPod.
Result: it won't start or reset anymore !!
I had to send my iPod to repair and the erased the iPod and returned it to me. With the return I got a instruction, which explains about how to run the updater on windows, but nothing on plugging it in the wall to update !!
So if I had missed the brief message of the updater I could have the same problem. This time I kept it connected for a couple of minutes and the iPod resetted and now I'm back to business.
I think apple should fix this serious flaw in the updater and in the documentation !!!!

It is a mailing in dutch and on paper (N073-0789 Rev. E).
    It says:
    <quote>
Step 4: Connect your iPod. After a few second the button "recover"will be active. Click on "recover". iPod Updater formats your iPod for Windows XP or 2000.
Step 5: Close iPod Updater after the recoverprocess is done.
    </quote>
Between 4 and 5 it should say something about the flashing with the power plug I think.
More important, I think the updater should keep the message in display while the iPod is still connected !
This saves a lot of useless repairs I think (and really missing your iPod for a week )!

  • Is there a serious flaw in LRs Print Module?

I have been having no end of difficulty getting a decent print from LR. The more I search for answers the more I find that others have the same issue. It seems to be related mostly to Canon and HP printers. Most Epson users indicate they are getting great prints.
Multiple combinations of settings have been suggested (all from very helpful folks, thks!) but all attempts have not produced anything remotely close to whats on the screen. PSE3 prints perfectly for me, and other comments indicate that CS2&3 and PSE4&5 also deliver superior results to LR.
It seems that there a serious problem with LRs Print Module whereby it cannot interpret and convert profiles properly? Has this been officially addressed by Adobe? If so, please direct to where I can find that information, please.
Dont misunderstand me, LR is a fantastic program and a very powerful RAW workflow tool. Even the Print Module has some really cool stuff, but not so cool when the colours dont come out close to the original.
Where does one go from here to find a solution to this problem?

    Hi Dave
I posted this earlier in this thread about CS3 printing problems that Adobe has addressed and I just reviewed it again and noticed some common problems under the "Issues Fixed in this Release" as follows:
"Color matching is now correct on BPE printers (notably the Epson 3800) when Photoshop is set to handle color management."
"BPE Printers expect a Profile to be passed when Photoshop manages color. Photoshop now passes the Profile."
"Epson 2400 driver no longer does double color profiling when PS is handling the color management and we explicitly turn off Epson color management in the Print dialog."
"Color management will now produce identical results on Intel and PowerPC-based Macs."
"Correct Page Setup now comes up in the Print dialog when you change printers to print different documents."
"Page Setup would sometimes show the preferences for a previously selected printer."
"RGB to CMYK conversion with a specific ICC profile and Adobe(ACE) engine is fixed."
"Specific types of ICC profiles were being incorrectly converted. Converted images would appear close to black, if not entirely black."
These appear to be the same issues that are happening in LR that require a similar fix that CS3 required.

  • Magic Trackpad - a serious flaw

I really like the Magic Trackpad, (when it's working as advertised), but that is another story (http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=12031331#12031331). However, I think it has a serious design fault. I find that I tend to use my thumb resting against the side of the trackpad to locate it, but because the touch sensitive area extends right to the edge, this sometimes gets sensed as a second touch. I am gradually learning not to touch the edge with my thumb, but the natural thing to do is to locate it in this way.
    Apple, please desensitise the edges!

    Hi Roger
Err, not wanting to be pedantic, and perhaps I should have been explicit, but the reason I posted in this forum was to see what other users thought. I.e. was it a serious problem for other users.

  • Serious Flaw in MPE?

I have an issue that would be great if I could get worked out...
I'm using 60i AVCHD footage (.mts), with the appropriate timeline settings in Premiere Pro CS5.5.1. Export settings are to h.264 de-interlaced with default preset settings. However, when I export with the MPE on, the video fails to deinterlace, and merely exports as a progressive scan with the interlacing "burned in", i.e. each progressive frame has interlacing artifacts/lines on it. HOWEVER, if I turn MPE off before I render, the video renders de-interlaced perfectly. But I'm pretty peeved, because if MPE is so great, why won't it support one of the most basic rendering functions out there? This problem was also present in CS5.5.0, and it was not fixed by the update.
For reference, the applicable computer specs are:
    Windows 7 Ultimate
    Intel i7-960
    12GB DDR3 RAM
    nVidia GeForce GTX 470
Again, I would greatly appreciate it if someone could help out here. My render times have skyrocketed compared to when using MPE and frankly, I want the features that I paid for to be in the product.

  • Serious flaw with new "Package" feature?

How could this have been overlooked?
The Flaw: The new package feature doesn't consider linked images that are in opactiy masks. They are not copied to the new folder.
    Can anyone else confirm this?
    To test:
    Create a new document.
    Link unique image-1
Create a rectangle with a fill
Link unique image-2 into rectangle's opacity mask
    Save file
    Then choose Package, everything checked
When I do this, only 1 image is copied into the new links folder, image-1, while image-2 in the opacity mask is not copied and simply links to the original file/path.

Thanks, just submitted the bug, shown below. Hope it's fixed soon, was looking forward to this feature.
Might also request a feature. I wish the "go-to-link" in the links window actually goes to  linked files that are in opacity masks, selecting it, not just center over it and leav you guessing which shape the opacity mask it is in.
    ******BUG******
New "Package" feature in Illustrator for Creative Cloud users does not package linked images that are in opacity masks:
    Steps to reproduce bug:
    1. Create new document
    2. Draw Rectangle and fill with color
    3. Enter Rectangle's opacity mask
    4. Place linked image (JPG, PSD) inside opacity the mask.
    5. Exit opacity mask
    6. Save file to desktop
    7. Go to File > Package
    8. Check everything, such as to copy links and create a links folder.
    9. Save to new packaged folder
Results: New folder with only the AI file and text report. Report shows there are no linked images.
Expected results: New folder with AI file, Report file that mentions linked image, and  a sub-folder named "links" containing the linked image in the document.
If the linked image is placed outside the rectangle's opacity mask, then Illustrator will copy the linked image to the new packaged folder. As is, this feature is broken. The first document I tried had 30+ linked images in opacity masks, none were packaged.

  • Seriously overheated Ge70 laptop

    Hi!
I have been worried about the heat that is coming out of the left side of my GE70 which I am very pleased with sp far except for this. When I got the laptop about a year ago it ran smooth with top settings and over 100 fps in league of legends, but shortly after the fps dropped and I am now using lowest settings there is and have about 60-90 fps.
Its okay tho even though  I really want to be able to play with higher fps, after all i paid 10k SEK for this...
Now to the issue, I downloaded realtemp and ran it. It shows that I have a minimum of 84 and a maximum of 94 which both are bad!
What can I do really? Please help me!

You could replace the thermal paste on the GPU and CPU. Nope, it won't void warranty (if there is any after 1 year) as long as you don't do any damage to it.

  • To Apple:  SERIOUS FLAW:  Same Pix Download for each Sync of Anything

Even though I synced my iPhoto Library, when I told the system to do another sync (to get rid of some Movies I deleted), it starting downloading the SAME IPHOTO pictures that were already on the computer. I stopped it.
    This is crazy.
That would mean that it will download 2775 pictures EVERY TIME the system syncs. That's NUTS! It takes HOURS each time.
Obviously, in the next version of the SW, the system must check to see that the items already exist and do NOT require another download, especially when we are talking about thousands of pictures.
I suspect Version 1.1 will be coming out very soon and the fine Apple engineers will be working hard and through the night this weekend with the next release.
Thanks to them. It's fun being one of the first users and hopefully debugging the software early so new buyers have a better experience.

I don't think so Rob, since I've now actually witnessed this behavior... But as an aside, contrary to some who describe this as an "error", I disagree. It may be a functional spec you disagree with, it may be very bad "best practices" for some of us with large libraries, but it's not an error. It doesn't have an error code, or cause the Apple tv to crash or become inoperative, require a power cycle or reset. I perceive that it just wastes sync time, but it may yet have logic to it which is unknown to me a this point... ;-(
Anyway, I have seen what was described when I purchased a couple of new movies. For reasons I can't currently identify, it did resync all my photos. In my case only 500 some. This is not much of an issue in my case, since I have the fastest interconnect. But it certainly seems suboptimal, and arguably problematic, or even, "come back tomorrow" for those with thousands of photos and a slow link... Of course, the question is, what tells it that it needs to refresh photos (or whatever in other cases)?
For now, it is a mystery waiting to be solved...

  • Verizon Outgoing Spam Detector is Seriously Flawed

Several times in the past few months I've tried to respond to emails to me with simple, one or two line comments. This has been done from Outlook. In each case Verizon bounced my email as being spam. Absolute nonsense. I sent the email as per their Spam Detector instructions, but they did nothing, as a second sending of the same email reply was blocked. What is going on if a residential customer cannot even send a simple email reply? Of course, there is no one to talk to, as they don't seem to care.

As stated in the Spam FAQ page, you will not get any response when sending the message to [email protected] for review. You attach the message that you are unable to send, and they review it. Depending on the outcome of the investigation, the filter will either be updated to allow the content that was previously blocked, or it will be determined to be a legitimate block and no changes will be made.
Some troubleshooting steps you can try:
If you have a signature, try removing one line at a time from it and attempting to send the message again. Some signatures look like "ads" to the filters, apparently.
If you are using a pop3 client (Outlook, Outlook Express, etc.) try sending your message from the verizon.net website. If this resolves the issue, then it is something that your client is adding to the message that is causing it to be blocked.
If the Subject line of your message has a whole bunch of "Fwd: Fwd: Re: Fwd:" try removing some of them.
Remove any links/URLs from the email one at a time to isolate if one of them is causing the block.
Some people have suggested sending the message to [email protected] for investigation. This may work for you as well.
If a forum member gives an answer you like, give them the Kudos they deserve. If a member gives you the answer to your question, mark the answer as Accepted Solution so others can see the solution to the problem.

  • Serious flaw in audio and transitions

When I fade out the audio going into another clip, via a transition, the audio starts playing again during the transition, cuts off after the transition and then starts playing the audio of the next clip after the transition. Naturally I have no control over the audio during the transition.
iMovie is decent software but the lack of any decent audio editing within the program makes it pretty amateur. Sadly, Windows Movie Maker is far better when it comes to editing video and audio within the program. Hopefully the design team is working toward making this a superior product.

I've been telling Apple since at least '09. The audio problems existed then too. There are a couple reasons and maybe I'll go through some old posts here or that I've sent Apple to try to find them, but once you "fix" the issue that is causing this problem, it will then be fine. Obviously this is a bug and should have been fixed years ago though. Here's one thing to be aware of right off the bat....
Don't bother using Precision Editor to start or end audio earlier or later because you'll wind up messing up audio transitions before and/or after the transition you're working on. What winds up happening is fades turn into hard cuts here and there. Only the one you worked on will be fine. Stick with detaching the audio instead.

  • Serious Flaws iPod Updater 9/23/05

    This is driving me crazy.
I downloaded the new updater. Now whenever I try to Sync I get a message saying some songs weren't copied because my software is too old and directing me to download the new software. But I have downloaded the new software.
The first time I updated the iPod, it also copied what seemed to be duplicates of about 25% of my songs. The process took about 20 mins on a firewire connection. By the time I finished the update, I'd lost about half of the unused memory on my iPod.
When I try to do download the software again, it won't let me install. When I try opening the latest update directly through Utilities/iPod Updater localized, it won't respond. Force Quit doesn't even work on it.
    Help?
I'm using a PowerBook G4 OSX10.3.9 with a 20GB iPod with dock and the four buttons above the wheel.

I'm having the same problem. I downloaded the updater and got the same error message about songs not being transferred due to my iPod software being too "old".
I noticed that my audiobooks genre is empty on the iPod meaning that they didn't transfer at all...
The most irritating thing is that before I updated the software, everything worked just fine.
What do I do in order to get the new software to load onto my iPod?
One thing which may be of importance with this (though it's a guess at best) is that I bought this iPod before I switched to a Mac from a PC. I first used the iPod with a PC and then in order to not lose all the songs I bought on iTunes, etc. I downloaded iPodrip software in order to move songs from my iPod to my new Mac (because it was not going to let me link to another computer for "piracy" reasons I suppose).
When I look on my iPod under the About menu choice it says the format is for Windows, but I don't use it on that computer anymore.
    Please advise...
    Thanks a lot in advance...!
    Rob

  • Warning: Migration Assistant Seriously Flawed

When upgrading across OS versions and architectures, it is advisable not to transfer applications, especially those that have Startup Items or Launch Daemons.
I upgraded my daughter from a PPC/Tiger based Powerbook to a MacBook I brought up the MacBook with fresh application installs and updates, and then transferred the user files with the Migration Assistant. It did not allow me to disable Library transfer. This ended up installing some Maxtor and other startup daemon that killed performance due to continuous crashing and relaunching. I isolated the offending issues with console logs, but this is not end user friendly.
Interestingly, the Macbook is fast enough that the main symptom was sluggish performance on new webs sites.
I would suggest manually transferring user files hierachies under this kind of circumstance, and avoiding transfer of any library items.

  • I find the Word (Office 4 Mac 2011) seriously flawed in creating labels in WORD from Excel database; any comments?

I have used the "mailmerge" functions in Snow Leopard with Office 2004 on many previous situations.
With Mountain Lion and Office 2011, I am not finding success in using "mailmerge" to create labels using WORD and an Excel database.
All is well until Mail Merge Manager asks:
              get Recit List
              Convert file from .......
"choose Excel Wowrkbook"     (I have chosen each of the listed choices with same result)
ALERT  reads  Excel Workbook text converter     check OK if from trusted source
ALERT  reads  There was an error opening the file.
I have checked with the Microsoft online instructions and followed them to the "letter";  with the same disappointing results.

I have always exported the addresses to a comma-delimited file first, then merged. That may be worth a try.

  • How do I stop Apple TV from trying to sync Gigabytes of Movies to laptop

    Hi,
Ever since I got the apple TV and synced with it with my laptop I've never wanted the TV to try and load all the movies that I'd bought on it to my laptop because the laptop simply does not have the free disk space to do it.
I can find no option to stop it from happening each and every time I try to sync with it.
I want to view my photos mainly on the apple tv and now it always fails because it's first trying to put 10 - at the moment multi-gigabite movies onto the laptop first. There is a little tick box that says sync photos first but it don't work. Massive Movies first and always. Photos never now sync.
Help this is so frustrating. I can find no setting in iTunes, please tell me this is simple.
    Thanks for your help.

    Hi,
The Apple TV is very unlike and iPod to me because I can buy and download massive movies. That's the big difference it has 140gb free my laptop 10gb. I don't want to migrate my iTunes Libary to an external drive just because I can't choose which movies to sync back off the Apple TV to my laptop. You can after all buy and run an Apple TV without any computer to sync it to can't you.
If what you are saying is true and I don't have the option to choose which files go back to the laptop I'm stuffed. All I wanted to do was watch movies on my Apple TV and Sync my Photos and music to it.
Not to have to pointlessly waste gigerbites of memory on my laptop because of course that's why I bought an Apple TV to watch movies on my big TV not on a pointlessly small laptop screen. That's also why I bought an Apple TV with a 160gb hard disk. There should have been a warning then with every single Apple TV saying that if you don't have at least 160gb free on the computer you're trying to sync with the Apple TV don't even think about purchasing it.
I don't want to also wait ages for failed attempt after failed attempt for it to sync the movies before the 4mb of pictures I really wanted.
I can see what your saying but if that is the way the Apple TV really works then it's a very serious flaw indeed.

  • IPhone - serious email issue - there has to be a fix?

    Iphone Model MC608LL
    Version 4.3.1
    Firmware 4.10.10
    Cellular ATT
    Mail Charter
I have a new iPhone. It will not drop the mail connection to the email server. Please read the following thread before responding if you would please. I have been working on this for days, I am not a super techie, but I do know what is happening, but also that there has to be a fix for this, or the iPhone has a serious flaw. Or, if needed, instead of 'flaw' I will just say a serious shortcoming compared to every other smartphone on the market!
Thanks, I hope you can help. If I can't get this fixed soon, I am going to switch back to my WM Blackjack (old model, not even the BJII)!
There is a lot more information here (I'm working this with ATT as well).

OK got this figure out. Thanks for your help!
Here the deal (with Office 2003, not sure about newer versions). Originally I just set the incoming server to imap.charter.net and tested. Now this was with my existing pop accounts (Outlook). The rest of the settings looked the same as they should for imap. That test failed as I mentioned.
What you need to do is delete the pop account completely and then add it back. When adding it back, there is an option for imap, pop or others.
Now when the account is setup, it does looks identical to the pop account with the exception being of course the incoming server is imap.charter.net and not pop.charter.net. But there are obviously other settings/changes that are made when an imap account is created.
    Bottom Line.
    1) Delete all of your PC/Laptop Outlook pop accounts (don't modify).
    2) Recreate them all as imap accounts.
    3) Set your iPhone up as instructed (all imap).
Thanks again for your help, I hope this helps others too. As another poster mention, this could be a charter thing, if so now we know!
