Server all screwed up

Ever since the AD went down for maintenance, there have been hiccups using the system. Slow loads, unresponsive reactions to *post message*, and errors, such as this one I just got attempting to post a reply:
500 java.sql.SQLException: Unable to retrieve connection from DriverManager

Strongly suggest another outage to rectify these issues.

Just got in from work, 3:30PM Chicago, and find that I had a bit of difficulty even getting into Discussions and when I finally did there was no top users list in any forum displaying nor the level blue "dots" next to users (such as right now, to the left under your user alias there is no level indicators).
I haven't even tried to post yet (this is my first reply today) but came here and saw your topic.
Still cannot access My Public Profile or My Posts in the sidebar. No error but just never loads for me. Have not tried playing around with different browsers and clearing of caches etc. but I think it's just a wait and see.....
I have to think that it most likely is tied into the iPhone 3G release and related forums somehow.

My iphone 5 won't connect to a server all of a sudden and I've reset my settings and turned phone off and back on and re-entered my password. What should I do now?

If it makes a sound, that means your computer has seen it, at least, and it's able to connect.
I'd try the following, in the following order.
1) With the iPhone disconnected, hold the Sleep/Wake button AND the home button UNTIL the Apple logo appears. After you hold these buttons down, the slide to power off will appear, but ignore that. Then the screen will blank. When you see the Apple logo appear, let go. Once the iPhone restarts fully, plug it into the computer, and see if iTunes will see it.
2) Repeat #1, but before you plug the phone in, restart your computer. After your computer AND iPhone have fully restarted, open iTunes, then plug your iPhone in.
3) Download and install iTunes over your existing installation. Restart your computer, then plug your iPhone in.
4) Uninstall iTunes fully, and ANY Apple related programs (Apple Mobile Device, etc.). Restart your computer, then install iTunes. Restart your computer again, and then open iTunes and connect your iPhone.
If none of these work, you may have to put your iPhone into either Recovery Mode or DFU mode.

I just downloaded the newest reconfigured version of iTunes, and for the first time ever my content is all screwed up. Specifically, all of my playlists are gone, so are my apps. However, the music library is intact. Any ideas? Thanks.............

The good news is that my music library is intact and that I've got more than one device with everything as it should be on them; the bad news is that my PC does not recognise my devices and keeps defaulting to " lets sync your devices to this new computer loose all of the playlists I've spent years compiling". I don't get it. Any ideas?

Itunes colors on screen all screwed up

i recently upgraded to the new itunes 8.0 or something and now the colors in the itunes window is all screwed up, like pink and green. it goes away if i click on it but if i click again it comes back. i tried reinstalling but it didnt work...help?

Change the monitor's bitdepth to 32 bit from the Control Panel.

HP Photosmart C3180 prefs all screwed up

After doing the latest 10.5.6 updates, the printer has gotten all screwed up. It now prints in magenta and white. it won't remember presets and changes the presets I do have. I want to do fast draft B&W printing for invoices from Quickbooks and it keeps reverting to photopaper, high res and color ink. Is there any way to erase the prefs and start over?

PS This makes my wife and her office staff hate me for doing updates on the office computer as this happens almost every time.
It's a 2.5 Ghz Intel iMac.

If the above doesn't work see if there is a Quickbooks preference plist in home/library/preferences. Trash it and relaunch Quickbooks.

ITunes music all screwed up

Hello.
I like to think of myself as a very proficient Macintosh user. However, from time to time, things stump me. This is one of those things.
So, I was manually adding some folders (the way iTunes likes to organize them, by artist titled folders) in the proper directory (iTunes was open) but my songs didn't show up. So, I closed it and opened it back up again. Nope, nothing. So I moved the iTunes Database File (what is this file??? please explain what this is even for..) one directory up. Big mistake... All my stuff was gone. So I thought that at this point it wasn't too bad, because I thought I could reverse it back. I was wrong. I moved it back and it just converted the original database file to the new one (the one with no songs)! So now I have a new database file that has lost all the information that I needed. Maybe I would better understand the issue if I knew what those were really for. But aha! I didn't stop there. I impulsively trashed iTunes' .plist file. Now I was really in for it! Not only were all my songs "gone" (I know, I know, they're not gone, I have them all neatly organized in folders by artists, it's just that iTunes can't see them) but I was about to go through a set up wizard. But I didn't stop there! I completed the setup wizard, making one mistake along the way: To have iTunes search for my music for me and import it. So now I have every audio file being imported into my library, but they would go in by doubles, triples, and sometimes even quadruples! I got really scared then. iTunes gave me a warning saying that there wasn't enough room for it to copy all the music into it's library. Good! I don't want it to! (Does it mean copy, literally? Like duplicate? Would that explain the pairs that were imported?) So now I am really all screwed up. Ahh, the consequences of mucking with files you shouldn't be mucking around with. While it was determining gapless playback information, I stopped it. Somehow, the duplicates went away, I think. But there are still lots left. What should I do? Where can I startover? I don't like this! I just want the music in my iTunes music folder to be put into my library exactly how it is. If I remember your problems started when you moved things from within the Finder. The plist was just fine. If you trash the plist then iTunes will generate a fresh default plist. You will need to set your prefs before continuing. The Library file is related to the data base of tunes not your prefs. The plist is related to your prefs and not your Library file.
You should be able to open iTunes - blank library in the main window then 'add' the tunes back into the library. You can use the File menu 'Add to Library' (+O) or you can navigate via the finder to the tunes and drop them into the main iTunes window. +O is the easiest for me. You will get the same result. Navigate from within iTunes - not the Finder. iTunes will ask you the path.
Now comes the potential messy part. If you grab an folder that has multiple albums in it - i.e.: Beatles White album + Sgt. Peppers - and add those to the library at the same time you will likely get the tunes out of album order- iTunes will add a couple of White Album then a couple of Sgt. Peppers then a couple of White etc. If using the 'Date Added' as the view then it looks really disorganized. So if that is a view that you normally use and order is important to you then it will take some time to add tunes back in an orderly fashion. If order is not important and using the sort by 'Album' is suitable for you then never mind. Try a couple and you will see what I mean. You can add multiple folders back at the same time if you want.

Text-selection mechanism all screwed up in KeyNote 6.2

Trying to select text with shift + arrowkeys, or shift + alt + arrowkeys, is all screwed up in KeyNote 6.2 (OS X). The text selection often jumps forward in an erratic manner (much too far ahead than usual, often skips entire words).
Trying to de-select text using the arrowkeys, also produces unexpected results. Sometimes the cursor even automagically skips ahead one character position.
Personally, this bugs the @@@@ out of me when trying to type text. And often I even loose important parts of my texts entirely.

Try this Keynote repair, ensure you complete all the tasks and in the order shown:
1 delete all the iWork applications if you have them, not just Keynote, using Appcleaner from Mac Update, its a freeware application
2 restart the Mac;   Apple menu > restart
3 immediately after the start chime, press the shift key until you see the Apple symbol.
         let it fully boot up, it will take longer as the OS is repairing the drive
4 when fully booted, go to Applications > Utilities > Disc Utility; click on the boot drive then First Aid tab and      click repair disc permissions
5 when complete, restart the Mac normally
6 install Keynote from the Mac App Store

Fonts all screwed up in Mail because of Fontbook?

So i added a whole bunch of fonts to my Fontbook so that i could, you know, use them, but then when i opened up my Mail, the fonts were all screwed up. i changed them back in Mail preferences, which fixed most everything, but left the headers in the body of the email all in gobbledygook. anyone know what to do? thanks!

if you don't want your yahoo contacts, go to settings - mail - yahoo - then turn off the contacts

Retina Macbook Pro Scaled Resolutions all screwed up!

HI all,
I've tried everything, but my MacBook Pro's scaled resolutions are all screwed up. I usually use the second from the right (see screenshow below) however now selecting that resolution switches the display to 1024x640 (HiDPI). So instead of more space, I get significantly less than the standard retina resolution, which is really odd.
In addition to this, the highest scaled resolution is now 1440x900 (HiDPI) resolution, which is the standard Retina resolution! So there's no difference bewteen the middle setting and the one on the far right.

As you can see, I have the max scaled resolution selected, but it's displaying at 1440x900.
I tried resetting PRAM, and trashing the com.apple.windowserver.plist file, but no dice.
If anyone can help I'd really, really appreciate it

Fixed it. Looks like I'd accidentally deleted some files from /System/Library/Displays/Overrides while trying to get an external display to work correctly.
To fix the issue I copied all the overrides from a friend's Retina Macbook Pro, and placed them into my overrides folder. Worked like a charm.

under each letter of the alphabet. However, I can get contacts no longer visible on the list via Siri. Any ideas?

I am sorry to hear that you are not able to view all of your contacts. We want to resolve this issue for you ASAP. Are your contacts backed up via iCloud or Backup Assistant? If you run either of these it should bring the contacts back.

You only need ONE FGLayout.css file (name it whatever you wish) and one boilerplate.css file. I typically create one more external style sheet for my content styles. It's best not to tamper with either your FGLayout.css or boilerplate.css file.
When your HTML page is saved as a Template, DW will create a TEMPLATES folder in your site's root folder and save the .dwt file there.
Use your Template to spawn new site pages. You do this by going to File > New > Page from Template. Select your site's template file from the 3rd panel and hit the CREATE button. Save child page as index.html (your home page). Repeat this last step for other site pages and name them as required -- about.html, contact.html, etc....

I had a similar problem to you that I have since solved.
At first only some albums/songs were missing artwork but they all showed up fine in itunes. I went into itunes and did the view where the album art is displayed next to the album in a list, middle option for viewing. I found that on several 1-2 songs did not have the artwork attached and so that was the cause of it not showing up on my iphone. However after I got all that solved I found that the artworks were all messed up. Much like you described many songs had the complete wrong artwork and some songs on the same album had different artworks or the same artwork showed up on multiple albums.
I could only come up with resyncing my iphone to solve it. I only use one playlist for my iphone so that I can sort of do manual management and only have to deal with one playlist. So I unchecked the playlist and did a sync to clear off all the audio. Then I rechecked the playlist and did a sync to reload everything and after that was done everything appeared correctly.
I didn't notice if this was affecting any of my purchased albums, I don't have that many so I didn't think about it but affected a lot of them. I hope this helps in some way and that you can get it working again.

Ever since updating to ff3.6 my ebay pages load funny after I get thru the initial screen. the formatting is all screwed from the way it should be and all images have disapppeared. WAZUP????

I get to the MY EBAY screen ok most of the time but if I want to go search for something or view one of the items I am bidding on the page display get all screwed up. It seems as if the page was disassembled in pieces and stretched out vertically. All images are gone and everything is out of place.

Do you have a backup that you can restore from? Your old hard drive seems to be the problem.

Help! Had to do System Recovery & Now Files are all screwed up!

3 days ago my computer got a Virus & deleted almost everything off my computer. I had to do a System Recovery to Recover my files. I have a 80GB Video Ipod. I had my Itunes Library Very organized the way I wanted it. Now when I go to my Library, my Music is still there but all the Song Names & Artist Names.. etc.. are all screwed up. My Ipod has my Music files the way i Want them to be organized. How do i Transfer my Files From My Ipod to My Itunes Library without it syncing & adding the Unorganized files to my ipod?

try playing one of the purchases in itunes for a few seconds. do you get asked to authorise the PC? if so, and if you do, will the purchases transfer to the ipod afterwards?
