    Hi team members,
we are using Hyperion PLanning Version (11.1.2)...
if someone can redirect me to formula kind of thing "how to calculate Hardware Requirements WRT increase in number of concurrent sessions".
for example need formula like below.
Minimum Server Requirement: 10 GB lets say for 5 concurrent sessions for 1-2 Applications
for every 5 concurrent user addition, increase Hardware Like processor 1 2.X Ghz , Ram 5GB , HDD 100 GB....
thanks for your replies, I already checked mentioned documents (Deployment Guides).

  • NetInstall from configured hard drive image - is the OS hardware-specific?

    Hello.
I deal with the installations, maintenance, etc. of about 30 computers — it's a mix of Intel iMacs, Mac Pros and G5s. About 75% of these machines in configured in one way (including applications, etc.) and the other 25% another way. Other than the OS (as some are Intel, some aren't), there's not a big different between these machines (again, with respect to the installed applications, configurations, etc.). So, I'm looking at starting to use NetInstall of future installations and upgrades and I'd like to use hard drive images of base machine installs (OS, applications, base users, settings) and I'm wondering — is the install of the OS (10.5.x) hardware-specific? Do I need to create an image for specific hardware (not including Intel vs PPC)? For example, if I create the image from an Intel iMac, can I use that image for installing a Mac Pro? I'm not sure how hardware-specific the original OS install is (if it only installs files for the machine it's being installed on, or if it installs all files for use on various machines)?
Some advice here would be appreciated!
    Thanks,
    Kristin.

Provided the Build of Mac OS X 10.5.x is the same or newer than that of your newest hardware then technically it is hardware-independent in that case.
For example 10.5.6 (9G55) will support any model of Mac (meeting Leopard's requirements) which shipped prior to its release - however there are some cases where you may be missing multi-touch demo videos if you didn't start your build from a system containing these. The 10.5.6 (9G66) retail DVD contains these and would serve as a good base. 10.5.6 (9G2141) would support all currently shipping Macs as of March 2nd 2009.
10.5.x is a fully Universal system so it will support any PowerPC-based Mac (meeting Leopard's requirements).
Refer to this document for specific build numbers for Intel Macs: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1159

  • How to check server hardware and OS issue without offline DB server

    Hi Experts,
For checking hardware issue, do we have any way to check server hardware and OS performance without offline server?
any way we could rule out bad hardware causing the problem without offline server?
    Thanks
    Jim

I think your answer depends on the nature of the hardware issue you think you may be having, whose hardware you have, and the OS your are running on that hardware. Such as on UNIX there are several error logs that record errors related to the system including detected hardware issues and you have numerous utilities like vmstat and iostat that can be used to measure performance. Some disk units linclude their own diagnostics modules you can run.
If you really want help I think you have to be a lot more specific about the problem you are facing.

  • Need Server Hardware Configuration Advice

    Good morning!
We are using Microsoft Visual SourceSafe for version control.
Two years ago, when I requested that RoboHelp be connected to a
database application for version control and multi-author support
(I asked for RoboSource Control on a dedicated server), they gave
us SourceSafe on a shared server. We now have 40 help systems and
have suffered many losses (corrupt database = rebuild the project
using the html files) as that shared server has gone down while
    RoboHelp was connected to it.
I'm submitting a work request to our IT department today for:
    1) Upgrade from RoboHelp Office 5 to RoboHelp 6
    2) Purchase and installation of RoboHelp Server 6
    3) Purchase of a dedicated server
I'm stuck on what to ask for with respect to the server
hardware configuration - and afraid that if I don't provide them
with detailed specifications that they'll provide us with another
inadequate setup. We currently have a need for 13 simultaneous
authors - some over VPN - to work under version control, and we're
growing. Can anyone provide me with a recommendation for server
    hardware configuration?
Adobe's web site only specifies the system requirements for
the RoboHelp Server 6 software installation - and sales support
told me that they are not able to recommend a server configuration.
I don't like going into this at the mercy of anyone in our IT
department! My husband, who is a database administrator, gave me
the following advice and I'm wondering if that's all I need to tell
IT or are there other potential issues I need to cover?
    quote:
For the storage or “hard drive” you want a RAID
controller with an array of hard drives for your data. You will
have a C: drive for the OS but your data should be separated from
the OS on a RAID controller with an array of hard drives.
For RAM you want a few gigs.
In addition to the application software
requirement of 100 MB of hard drive space, we currently have 42GB
(2.5 years) of help system data. We have 40 help systems spread
between 10 databases (separated by lines of business) - we used
this configuration because early in the game we thought our
corruption issues were stemming from databases that were too large
for SourceSafe to handle. I'm wondering, with RoboHelp Server 6
will we need to use multiple databases or can it handle 40+ help
    systems in one database?
I also have a need for a few help systems to be in their own
databases because we are running them for other companies owned by
the bank and that data can't be co-mingled - can RoboHelp Server 6
    handle multiple databases?
Thanks in advance for any assistance you can provide.

    Hi THessler
I've used Microsoft Visual Source Safe (VSS) quite
successfully for many years with RoboHelp with no issues such as
you are citing. You further state something I and probably many
    others here find very disturbing.
    You said:
We now have 40 help systems and have suffered many losses
(corrupt database = rebuild the project using the html files) as
that shared server has gone down while RoboHelp was connected to
    it.
This would seem to imply that you aren't using RoboHelp
correctly with the source control system. And if this proves to be
true, you will likely see the SAME behavior with RoboSource Control
or any other source control system you decide to use.
Please allow me to explain. RoboHelp does not like working in
any form of a networked situation, period. If you use it this way,
it will frequently crash and corrupt files and all sorts of ill
mannered things. Bottom line is that RoboHelp absolutely needs to
be working on files only when they are stored on your local PC.
I know I know, how does one accomplish this with a Source
Control system? After all, the fact the Source Control system has
to sit on a server means working from a server, no?
Here's the deal. With any Source Control system you use, you
should find that you have the main Source Control database, which
    resides on a server.
But (and here's the kicker) when you configure users that
participate in Source Control, each user is configured with
    something called a
Working folder. This is a special folder where the files
from the database are copied to. RoboHelp should be working on
files inside this folder. As they are updated, copies are placed on
    the server copy.
Sooo, before abandoning VSS or before totally configuring the
new source control system, I'd first ensure you are using it
properly. You may just find that you don't need to spend the money
for a new source control system after all.
    Cheers... Rick

  • Do you need physical hardware specifications for virtual machine

I am currently running VMware Server 2.0. I am working with a server whos hardware specifications cannot support Windows Server 2008. My question is should I still be able to create a virtual Windows Server 2008 under VMware since all the hardware should be virtualized.

Your physical CPU/motherboard either does not have the required hardware features, or does not have them enabled.

  • Mac mini server: Hardware test error on Hard Drive

Mac mini server: Hardware test error on Hard Drive
'checking for slow read failures': ERROR - Target device access failure - Test failed.
CAN I ACCESS HD (which is our data server) EVER AGAIN? IF SO, HOW?
Meanwhile we wonder if this is really a hardware error. It all happened during writing a time machine backup.
Probably while writing it, some data was relocated by accident, but we can not 100%-sure remember the sequence of actions :/
    This is our trauma history:
    - time machine got increasingly slower in writing a backup
    - we quit the backup
    - we switched off the mac mini (on power button)
    - we switched on the mac mini
    - we stopped time machine to the rules
    - we shut down mac mini via command
    - we booted the mac mini in save mode
    - we see a loading bar
    - no progress after 10th of loading bar
    - switched off (power button)
    - when we now switch on the loading bar below the apple-logo is all we see + the little wheel
    - we started with cmd+alt+p+r pressed
    - mac mini restarted but showed the loading bar scenario without progress again
    - we started with 'd' pressed and did the hardware test (see above)
    - we started with 'alt' pressed but it does not give us the recoverydrive to run the last backup
    ANY IDEAS?
IS IT A SOFTWARE- OR HARDWARE ERROR?
    THX IN ADVANCE!

I'd get Temprature Monitor & see what temps they're running.
Is Temperature Monitor an app or a device?  If it's a temperature problem then that is essentially a design problem.  Two drive failures in the same Mac mini server in four months combined with the fact that they're not really user serviceable already has me 90% on the way back to more pragmatically designed Linux servers.  I think it would be foolish to waste any more money on these minis for my business hosting.

I'm trying to timestamp (RFC 3161) a pdf using my own timestamp server hardware but always get an error: "Certificate invalid for use" (Original text - pt_BR:O certificado não é válido para uso). How can I get more info on what I'm missing or whats wrong with the certificate?

Which Acrobat version are you using? Do you use "Document Timestamp" command? If so, do you get this error during the signing process and the signature is not created or signature is created and you get this error when it is validated? If the latter you can open signature properties, click on the "Advanced Properties" and in the next dialog on timestamp's "Show Certificate". If you get this error during the signing process do you get an alert that shows some cryptic info with a number? If you do provide the content of this alert.
Also which Acrobat version (including minor) are you using?

  • Hardware specific os install question

I just bought a fully zero'ed macbook pro real cheap but have no installation disk other than the one that came with my imac. That one, so I've been told, is hardware specific so it won't work on anything else. I want to know before I shell out some more cash, if a full version of OS X 10.4 will work and install on my macbook pro. Does it have to be 10.4.9 because I had a full version of 10.4 and that didn't install either. What exactly do I have to do to get this macbook pro to recognize and install OS X? Any help is greatly appreciated.
    Thanks.

The people at apple informed me that the retail Tiger
is not an upgrade but a full install.
Yes, it is a full install, but its only purpose is to upgrade an older Mac to Tiger. Here are the requirements for the retail Tiger from Apple web-site
    <http://store.apple.com/1-800-MY-APPLE/WebObjects/AppleStore.woa/wa/RSLID?mco=A4 FADD77&nplm=MA453Z/A>
    "Hardware Requirements:
    PowerPC G5, G4 or G3 processor
    Built-in FireWire
DVD drive is required for installation
At least 256MB of physical RAM"
    I informed
them that I have no OS at all right now and they say
    that it would work.
They are correct in that it doesn't need any existing OS on the machine to install, but it is only for a G3, G4, or G5, not an Intel based machine.
    In order
to get copies of the disks that came with the macbook
pro they require the serial number on the macbook.
That will ensure they send you a disk that will work for your machine.
    I don't have it.
If the serial number sticker is missing from the battery compartment, you could take the machine to a store that has Intel Macs. Put their Mac into Target Disk Mode by booting while pressing "T". Connect your Mac with a FireWire cable, and boot it from their disk. You can then see your serial number from the login window, or from the "About This Mac" Apple menu item,
Simple as that. I know where its
located but thats not the point.
    What is the point?
    So if they won't
give me the disks that ship with the macbook pros
because I won't give them the serial number, then I
have to use the full install of Tiger. If it works
like they say it does, then I don't mind paying
more...but everyone else I spoke to about this say
that they won't install on an intel mac. Who do I go
    with...apple or everyone else?
Give them the serial number and get a disk that will work. Apple's web-site, and the printing on the retail box, both say the retail version won't work. Your other option is to wait for Leopard (OSX 10.5) in October. Its retail version will work on your Intel based Mac.

  • Server hardware confusion with 32 bit and 64 bit

    Hi,
I am very new to this oracle, and I have a doubt which is very stupid, please help me out here, I have been working for installing Retail, so I have to integrate the EBS with Retail, which I got the documents for, there it says we need OEL x86_64..
    My questions are
    1. Can we install OEL x86_64 in 32 bit server hardware?
    2. If we can install it, can we install 32-bit EBS staged files in that OS
    3. Also do I need 64 bit server hardware in order to achieve my goal?
    4. Also can anyone suggest good links for finding server hardware’s where can I look into building just for EBS single node..
    Thanks in advance
Love this Forum and your helps that you all given me so far.. :-)

    Hi,
    AFAIK:
    1. Can we install OEL x86_64 in 32 bit server hardware? No, you cannot.
    2. If we can install it, can we install 32-bit EBS staged files in that OSYou can Install 32-bit of software's on 64-bit machines, but you cannot Install 64-bit software's on 32-bit machines.
Although, its not recommended to Install 32-bit software's on 64-bit machines. Install sw same as Hw architecture.
    3. Also do I need 64 bit server hardware in order to achieve my goal?Check with oracle there should be 32-bit software available for this.
    4. Also can anyone suggest good links for finding server hardware’s where can I look into building just for EBS single node..http://www.oracle.com

  • Forms and Reports 11g server hardware..

    We're looking to move from 6i to 11g F&R..
But cannot find any docs anywhere that will help us to size the F&R 11g server hardware.
Could anyone please point us in the right direction?
    many thanks

We are in the midst of moving our application from forms 6i c/s to forms 11g web. I have the entire stack installed on a Pentium4 3.2Ghz 4GB DDR RAM server (its a 1U rackmount) and it actually works, although rather slowly (its for development) and only has at max 5 users on it.
Here is the products I have installed:
    Windows Server 2003R2 32bit
    Database 11g (for metadata repository)
    Weblogic 10.3.1
    OID 11g
    SSO 10.4.3
    PFRD 11g (services and developer)
It uses all available RAM and the Pagefile to disk is 6.03GB
We have implemented the stack on a customer's server which is a modern quad-core Xeon with 4 GB RAM with SATA drives, and it is much snappier. Still 32bit Windows 2003R2, thought.
We are about to try out a new server running on Windows 2003R2 64 bit with 8GB RAM to see how it performs. The database/weblogic/OID/PFRD combined is such a memory hog.......

  • Can I install Snow Leopard on Mac Mini Server hardware?

What I would like to do is buy the Mac Mini Server but I don't need the server OS. I want the desktop OS on the Mac Mini Server. Will installing Snow Leopard on the server hardware be just like installing it on a regular Mac Mini?
Or should I just wait and see how Lion shakes out?

Thanks Indy, I already had proceeded the installation according your tip. Just an objection related to the updates: I was able to install the OS updates only while in target mode, as when I made 2 attempts to update the version 10.6.6 to the current one (10.6.7 - the combo one and the MBP version too) it was not permitted. I had to plug the FW cable into the MBP again and update the Mini's OS (using the special MBP version of 10.6.7) in target disc mode. I want to use the Mini as a media server and intend to install Windows 7 on the other HD which now hosts the server OS. However, according to one poster (Sven G) there are some problems (I don't know exactly what they are) related to Boot Camp software. Have you any information about these problems?
I have maintained both OS (standard and server) living side by side on the Mini, is there any problem with that?
Again many thanks, you were succinct, right to the point, and your tip just proved itself correct.
    Cheers
