hi,
i like to develope a server-process. a server-process should have the possibility for the following commands: start, stop, reload, restart.
but now i stand for a simple question: how can i communicate between 2 different java-programs? why? simple example:
1. start a server-process:
# java -jar myproc.jar start
2. stop a server-process:
# java -jar myproc.jar stop
the 2nd java-proc should notify the first to stop, but how, without a file-solution?
exist there a poss. to comunicate over input-streams between 2 java-progs?

You have 100 processes running on your box on startup? And all of them allow you to stop and start them?
Isn't one of those processes the one that allows you
to access the hard drive? What exactly happens when
you stop that?

what a shit! for ex. look in your
/etc/init.d/-directory! there you can see the most
deamons/processes which you can start/stop aso.
manually on the commandline. (driver-modules
included)And you can use kill -9 on them as root as well right? But if you do you might as well hard boot the box, because nothing is going to work after that.

Win 9x does not have process ids nor do they have pipes.

implemented c/jiny-solution.
but please don't tell me to do it with
net/file-sockets (what is if you don't have a network
(by net-socket) or what is if you have no rw-access
(by file-solutions)). i know this ways but i am not
looking for.I covered all of them. Presumably with your expertise you know how to use google so I would expect that you should be able to find a public domain soluton for your particular OS if it exists.

    FYI :
    JStartupICheckFrameworkPackage: can't find framework package D:\usr\sap\NW2\JC02\exe\jvmx.jar
    The above message can be ignored. You will see that message often in perfectly up/running systems as well.
    Also, the dev_jcontrol file shows that the server process was terminating !
    You need to check std_server0.out file for the errors/exceptions as to why server0 was terminating abruptly. The reason should be apparent from dev_server0 and std_server0 most of the times unless its a startup framework bug where the error messages are not written to the log files.
    So, whenever the server process or dispatcher process fails to start, you should check the corresponding dev_server<n> or dev_dispatcher and std_server<n> / std_dispatcher  files. Also, usually, there will be some exception (if its application related) in the defaultrace file as well under server<n>\log or dispatcher\log depending on which one is failing to start.
    e.g. if server0 is failing to start due to some UME issues, you will see the mention of it in std_server0.out (definitely) and more ellaborate info/exceptions in deafultrace under server0\log as well.

  • How to know the port number to which the server process is listening

    I have created oracle 10g Release 1 database(orcl) in Windows Xp Professional edition through DBCA . I also created one more database(sample) manually .
    The ORCL server process listens to port no 1521 and
    SAMPLE server process listens to port no 1522
    Once I start the OracleServiceORCL (Service for orcl) from services.msc and check the listener status it displays
    Service "orcl" has 1 instance(s).
    Instance "orcl", status READY, has 1 handler(s) for this service...
    But when I start OracleServiceSAMPLE (Service for sample) from services.exe and check the listener status there is no change . Only when i start the instance the dynamic registration takes place with port no 1521 .
    There is no entry for listener parameter in init.ora file . My question is how is the service ORCL able to get itself registered with the listener even before the instance is up ?
    And how can i know which port no is linked with which server process?
    Also if we provide a different port number(other than 1521 say 1522) in tnsnames.ora for a service and consider the listener is listening to both 1521 and 1522 . Now consider that port number 1521 is free . In this case to which port number will the service be listening to ?

    The status tells you the instance is up. Starting the service often means the instance gets started also, but whatever "often" means, "READY" means "The instance is up, running and taking callers".
    Your statement that "ORCL [is] able to get itself registered with the listener even before the instance is up" is therefore factually incorrect: you started the service, that started the instance. The instance is up and running. Instances that aren't running don't exist. Things which don't exist don't register themselves. Things which HAVE registered themselves therefore do exist.. and if they say they are "ready", it means they are completely, 100% up and running and behaving quite normally.
    I have not set LOCAL_LISTENER initialization parameter.How is this happening ?
    You only need to set LOCAL_LISTENER if (a) you're not using TCP/IP, (b) you're not using port 1521. Otherwise, PMON is hard-coded to register itself with listeners running on port 1521 and using TCP/IP and you don't need to set LOCAL_LISTENER to achieve that.
    Server Processes do not listen. Listeners do (there's a clue in their name). Listeners receive a call to connect to an instance, they spawn a server process to handle your call, and then they connect you to that server process (or send a message back to you telling you how to contact the server process). Each server process of course receives communications from its dedicated client on a specific port (usually in the 50000+ range), and that port is chosen randomly by the listener when it's spawning it. It's a bit blurry and vague to call that server process port a port on which server processes "listen", however.
    If you're talking dedicated server, each client causes one new server process to be spawned, and there is a one-to-one correspondence between server processes and the port that server process happens to accept client communications on.
    If you're going to ask a listener to do listening duty on multiple ports, I'd first question your need to do that and I'd then point out that unless your client tnsnames.ora knows to talk on the second or subsequent port numbers, the listener is never actually going to make use of that second port.
    In either case, the port the listener listens on has nothing whatsoever to do with the port your client-to-server-process communication ends up taking place   • Server Process taking all CPU time intermittently on Solaris

    Hi,
    What does my program do :-
    We have been facing this problem from many days, We have a server
    process which is continuously listening at a port on Solaris 5.8.
    Whenever a request is sent to this server a new thread & a socket is created for that client.
    This process is running as a proxy server, which connects to some other machine on client request.
    Problem:
    The process start taking whole CPU after few days, happens in a weeks
    period. The process remain in this state for few hours & after that it
    stops responding to any requests.
    & the only thing which can be done, to make it work is to restart the
    process.
    If someone has faced a similar problem then please let me know if you
    have found a solution for that.
    I will give 10 duke dollars to you if you can provide a solution for this problem.

    We recently had a situation where in our Windows Os 2003 SP2 server got rebooted. 
    Logged and found below event on server:

    Description:
    The DCOM Server Process Launcher service terminated unexpectedly.  It has done this 1 time(s).  The following corrective action will be taken in 60000 milliseconds: Reboot the machine.
    I do not see any other event that could cause the DCOM to fail, not sure that could have been the reason for this.

    Based on your description, I find following KB in
    List of updates in Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 2. It seems to be suitable for current
    scenario. Please refer to and check if can help you.
    DCOM programs do not work, and event ID 7031 is logged
    after you install Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 1 (SP1)
    If any update, please feel free to let me know.

    I tried the above guide but dint helped me,
    I tried modifiying Concurrent:GSM Enabled to N & concurrent manager started but all requests were in pending state not running so i reverted back to Concurrent:GSM Enabled Y

    If you notice in the code I use a class I made called IOReader. All that class is, is a buffered reader for my System.in. (just makes it easier for me)
    Ok now for my question:
    When I run this program I run the server first then the client. I type "hello" into my system.in but on my server side, it prints "null" I can't figure out what I am doing wrong, if I am not converting correctly, or if the message is not ever being sent. I tried putting a while(in.read()) { System.out.println("whatever") } it never reaches a point where in.ready() == true. Kinda of agrivating. Because I am very new to sockets, I wanna aks if there is somthing wrong with my code, or if I am going about this process completely wrong. Thank you to how ever helps me,

  • Is server process visible to DBA's ?

    I like to know weather a DBA can see the server process ? Though I doubt on this . Anyways, if we can , then do let me know the views , which you can use to see these server process.

  • Server Process Event Detail Definitions

    I'm trying to add a new LDAP query against Group objects from an MS Active Directory. The User Settings query for this OU is working. I've also successfully added two other group queries so far, but when I reach this one particular OU, I'm getting the following System Event error:
    LDAP Unavailable Server Process [PrincipalDomainEntity: itvn epoch:29 state:20 ]
    Does anyone know what the 'epoch' and 'state' codes mean? And what are the messages associated with those code numbers?

    Hi,
    Few comments here...
    1) Seems your environment is not setup correctly but that is not the big cause here.....
    2) This one is important, it seems that you installed weblogic using a different account and are trying to run it from a different account.
    So the account with which you are trying to run weblogic does not have proper permission on
    MW_HOME\user_projects\domains\bifoundation_domain\config\fmwconfig\bootstrap\cwallet.sso
    Right click on the file and go in properties ..
    Enable full control,modify,Read and execute,read and write permissions for the user you are trying to start weblogic and apply it.
    if this simple steps doesnt work, please enable more logging by adding "-Djava.security.debug=jpspolicy" to startup option and grab more details.

  • Question regarding Listener and Server Processes in dedicated server mode

    The Oracle documentation states that when a client connection request is received on the server, the Listener creates a Server Process which will work with the database instance to carry out the tasks requested by the user/client process. So far, everything good.
    Now, when the user is at the Oracle server itself, the Listener does not need to be running to establish a connection to the database. It is therefore possible to stop the Listener and still connect using sqlplus and a valid username and password.
    In the above case, the question is: if the Listener is not running, what/who created the Server Process that communicates with the database instance on behalf of the user ? Stated a different way, in the normal case, the Listener would get the request and create the server process. When the Listener is not running what part of Oracle gets the requests and creates the server process ?
    Clarification on how this case is handled is much appreciated, thank you,

    When using bequeath protocol the server process is created by the client process: it's the client process that is using ORACLE_SID and ORACLE_HOME to compute shared memory key (under UNIX) to know which SGA to attach (i.e. which instance to connect to):

    Well this is what I thought too but I don't think I'm doing something right. I have a default website on port 80 and I created a second site on the same port. They are two different websites. One is the initial one that comes stock with the osx. The second one I created.
    When I browse to my server I get the second site. How can I get the default to be the one that points to the mail, wiki, calendar stuff, while my second domain is something totally different.
    http://myserver (should be the default stuff like mail.)
    http://myserver/mysecondsite (should be my other stuff.)
    The problem is that when I go to http://myserver it is going to http://myserver/mysecondsite
    What am I doing wrong? Thank you.

  • Error calling a webservice from one server process of the cluster

    Hi ,
    I have a servlet which on startup makes a call to a webservice. I deploy this webapp on the cluster.
    The cluster has two instances each instance having one server process.
    So when the server restarts one server process on one instance calls the web service the other process on other instance fails with a 503 response code.
    When I tried to reproduce the same problem using two server processes on the same instance both processes are able to call the webservice properly.
    I am slightly confused as to how different the second scenario is from first one as both are individual server process and may or may not run on same instance.
    Can anyone tell me the real cause.
