Server-push through Web-workers

I would like to describe my issue and tell about my workarounds to it. I hope it could be helpful to RAP developers if they consider my scenario.
I'm now missing old UICallback mechanism after upgrading from older RAP to 2.3 (haven't tried on 3.0 yet) .
I'm working on a Thin-client which is based on RAP. That means, there is a dedicated Server to which the RAP host connects and communicates with.
That Server tends to drive user sessions in a somewhat synchronous style. That is pushing events to the UI in realtime without a prior UI interaction.
The ServerPushSession from RAP is not suitable for that. ServerPushSession has to be either stopped explicitly or by some internal timeout. Until that the UIThread is stuck and thus no changes sent to the Browser, and serverpush request remains in pending state.
I found a quick and dirty workaround by sending empty requests to the RAP UI servelet from javascript side. This gives a spin to the UI thread so the UI changes can be sent to the Browser.
I guess the same can be coded on Java side. Something like starting a ServerPush session after each UI request and ending it after some reasonable timeout.
I'm also planning to bring Webworkers to optimize my above workaround.

Hi, do you mean you want to redirect to another JSP?
you could use the "sendRedirect" method in the HttpServletResponse object.
for example:
public MyServlet perform(...HttpServletRequest request, HttpServletResponse response)
     throws IOException, ServletException {
  String redirectTo = "http://www.companyname.com/index.jsp";
  response.sendRedirect(redirectTo);
}something like that....

  • How to connect a PDF form to SQL server database through web service?

    Hi,
    I'm new to LiveCycle designer. I have designed a PDF form in LC designer ES2, which suppose to take a personnel number and retrieve the personnel information from a SQL server database. Currently its working fine with XML data and a search button, but I need to securly connect to a database through web service. I know how to connect to a wsdl file through designer. What I need is a wsdl file to connect the form to database. For this purpose, is there any WSDL code to use as the web service?
    I really appreciate your help and advice.

  • File upload through web server to weblogic

    WAS: Weblogic 10.3
    Web Server: Sun One Web Server 6.1
    JDK: 1.4
    I've deployed a web application(*.war) to weblogic server, and try to upload a file through sun one web server(webserver) to the weblogic. The 'webserver' does nothing but bypass the request to weblogic. When I do upload a file to weblogic server directly without though webserver it's ok. I mean the uploaded file would be written to a specfied saving directory on server as soon as the upload process gets start. But with going through webserver, it does not happen immediately. After a long time passed the uploaded file begins to be written to the saving directory. The 'webserver' seems to buffer the amount as much as the file size, and then send them to weblogic. To sovle this problem I tried to change the webserver configuration(magnus.conf) as like,
    ChunkedRequestBufferSize 0, UseOutputStreamSize
    But doesn't work.
    Is there somthing of I'm missing? Get me out of this struggling.

    Thanks for your comments.
    What I'm doing is that first I made a simple upload jsp file using 'com.oreilly.servlet.MultipartRequest', and then try to upload with a html page over IE browser.
    That is,
    IE browser ( Local PC ) ---> Sun One Web Server ( Remote machine ) ---> Weblogic ( Local PC ).
    And I also peeked into the transferred data between webserver and weblogic. What I've found is that all data in the upload file would be buffered into webserver and then flushed out to weblogic at one time. I want to upload the file to weblogic server without buffering in webserver. Rather than a bug of webserver, I thinik I missed some configuration stuff of webserver, or weblogic.
    Local PC: Windows XP
    IE: 6.0
    Web Server: Sun One Web Server 6.1 SP9
    Weblogic: 10.3.0.0
    upload filesize: 4MB

  • File upload and download in server through web Dynpro

    Hai all,
             i want to store one document in SQL Server 2000 through Webdyn pro. I inserted
    one document through java into SQL Server 2000 using the following method which name is
    insertFile(...).
    void insertFile(FileDBTransfer fdb, Connection cn, String FileName)throws IOException, FileNotFoundException, SQLException
              int FileLength;
              FileInputStream fis;
              PreparedStatement pstmt;
              int last=FileName.lastIndexOf("/");
              String docname=FileName.substring(last+1,FileName.length());
              fis = fdb.getFileInputStream(FileName);
              FileLength= fdb.getFileLength(FileName);
              pstmt = cn.prepareStatement("insert into ReportArchive values(?,?)");
              pstmt.setString(1,docname);
              pstmt.setBinaryStream(2, fis, FileLength); //method to insert a stream of bytes
              pstmt.executeUpdate();
         }// end insertZipFile
         Here i have given file name like "c:\test\test.pdf" it's work fine.
         My J2EE server is running different machine and my Netweaver is another machine.
    If both server and IDE in same machine it's work fine. But both are in different machine,
    i have some problems.
         If i try like this server always go and check his own path, not client machine
    so it will error like "given source not found". So if i get client machine's path
    then i will store easily into SQL Server 2000.
         Whenever i run, it should check the client machine path instead of server path.
    Thanks in advance,
    K.Saravanan.

    Hi Saravan,
    Data
    Determines the data drain, that is, the location of the data, of the file to be uploaded in the context. The system can only read this data value.
    fileName
    Gives exact filename
    Refer IWDFileUpload also

  • Siebel Integration with Adobe LiveCycle through Web Services

    I am new to Adobe LiveCycle and I have very little knowledge in Adobe LiveCycle. What we are planning is to send a PDF from Siebel to Adobe LiveCycle and that should extract the data from PDF and return the data back to Siebel. I think this can be done through Web Services. If anyone has any idea, kindly let me know.
    thanks

    I am not sure why you need to send a PDF form from Siebel to a LiveCycle ES server-side process, to have LiveCycle send data back to Siebel, when the data came from Siebel in the first place. It is more typical that applications send data to LiveCycle to have the data merged with a form template to render PDF.
    Regardless, there are a variety of solutions depending upon your solution requirements, business requirements, infrastructure, client-server preferences, security requirements, etcetera, to do what you are seeking. LiveCycle ES processes expose endpoints to consume data from a variety of protocols and formats, including SOAP, EJB (RMI), email, LiveCycle remoting (for Flex clients), and watched folders.
    A solution could be as simple as dropping an XDP-based PDF into a network folder, the PDF would be consumed by LiveCycle, a process extracts the data from the PDF, and a Web Service pushes the data back to Siebel.

  • **URGENT** about printing report in charater mode through web

    hi,
    plz help me. i want to print report on EPSON LQ-2180 printer through web.
    plz tell me the URL how i can print report through report server.
    problem is i want a URL which i type in the browser and the report will go on printer.
    Thanks in advance
    Regards,
    Kamran Shahzad

    To print, include "destype=printer,desname=<printer>" in the url.
    The printer has to be accessible form the web server, not from the client.

  • Securely Access Exchange Server 2007 through ASA 5510 using Outlook

    Is there any way to access a MS Exchange Server 2007 on Windows server 2008 through an ASA 5510 running 8.4 with a full MS Outlook client (not using OWA - web browser)?  OWA is currently working fine but I was wondering if access via the full Outlook client is possible and more importantly...is it opening up too many ports on my 5510?  Any help is much appreciated!
    ~John

    Hi John,
    For that scenario, a remote access VPN is probably the best way to go (either the traditional IPSec client or SSL VPN/AnyConnect). This config guide lists your options on the ASA:

  • Server Push redirecting to a pre-existing JSP

    Question:
    Has anyone tried to create a Server Push servlet that can be used to serve up pre-existing JSPs?
    Is it even possible for a servlet to serve a pre-existing JSP or does the web page code have to be embedded within the servlet?

    Hi, do you mean you want to redirect to another JSP?
    you could use the "sendRedirect" method in the HttpServletResponse object.
    for example:
    public MyServlet perform(...HttpServletRequest request, HttpServletResponse response)
         throws IOException, ServletException {
      String redirectTo = "http://www.companyname.com/index.jsp";
      response.sendRedirect(redirectTo);
    }something like that....

  • Server Push in JSP

    Hi AnyOne!
              I have a jsp, and a database . If a column in my table gets updated I
              want all of my clients who are connected to it , to see the refreshed value
              without click any refresh/Reload button on the browser. A kind of
              Server-Push.
              That is, If one client makes changes, then all of the other clients on the
              web should get intimated.
              How can I achieve this ?
              thanks
              vikas

    Vikas,
              There was a article about the same in java world a while back.
              http://www.javaworld.com/javaworld/jw-03-2000/jw-03-pushlet.html
              But I believe this is bad design. I don't think using opened HTTP Connections
              to do a real time operation is not a good Idea. What if you are serving couple
              of hundred clients?
              Kumar.

  • Windows Server push config for fax modem

    We have a new Windows 2012 R2 Server, we installed a fax modem on it and turned the fax server feature on. We were hoping to be able to share the fax as a printer
    and push through GPO, which being pushed but when the end user attempt to print to it in order to send a fax, a new fax configure wizard shows up....
    So we are trying to find if there is a way to push this config to all users without having to configure every individual end user PC which is a nightmare.
    The end product should be fax being pushed through GPO, when they print to it, its being processed and sent auto after they type the number they want to fax it to,
    that's it.

    Hi,
    Based on your descriprion, I understand that you want to automatically deploy fax configuration via group policy. I can't find such group policy setting which may help us to achieve this target. On current situation, please refer to following article and
    check if can help you.
    Fax Server Step-by-Step Guide
    If any update, please feel free to let me know.
    Best regards,

  • Server Push   pushing data to clients

    Need some ideas.
    I have been hunting around for info on a simple/clean method
    to push data out to clients. Client could be a Java application or maybe an applet. Solution must easily go through firewalls
    In either case I want the client to startup, register with the server
    and start receiving data. Without further user intervention.
    Whatever, scheme is used must be able to deal with network
    disconnects.
    I have looked at Pushlets, the article was 2 years old and I don't see
    any recent postings on Pushlets. So maybe that is not the way to go.
    I guess my other choice is JMS. SonicMQ?
    Server Push using Netscape?
    Or are there other options.
    Many thanks for your feedback.
    KD

    Have you considered J2ME.
    J2ME and WAP Push can be complementary. but for WAP Push to work the devices or the browsers in the devices have to be WAP 1.2 complaint.
    more details can be found at http://devforum.openwave.com
    hope this helps.

              without click any refresh/Reload button on the browser. A kind of
              Server-Push.
              That is, If one client makes changes, then all of the other clients on the
              web should get intimated.
              How can I achieve this ?
              thanks

    I read the OP's message and imediately thought oh, cool, MVC candidate :-)          If I wanna talk about MVC I would prefer Sun's Design Patterns group.

    I'd like to make it accessible through web page. What technology I shoul use? I read a little about Java Web Start. JWS + Java3D should work fine, but can I connect to database using JWS?
    Thanks for any help.
