Server Uptime Availability Reports in SCOM

Hi Friends,
Whenever i am running the Availability Report for an server by adding the computer object, it is calculating all the monitors present inside the server and giving us the average/aggregate report as the server Uptime.
Because of that we are getting wrong server availability information. We need to submit our Server availability report to our client and we commited to give 99.5% uptime.
We have used Uptime.exe tool to take up the exact uptime and it is showing the exact downtime.. The only advantage and the reason we opted to take the reports in SCOM is, scom has the ability to exclude the planned maintenance from the total as downtime.
Thanks & Regards,
Dinesh Sundaram
Please help me to take the exact report which suffice my requirement. I think we can do that with the help of SQL Reporting Services. If yes, kindly guide me to take the steps to do thatThanks & Regards,
Dinesh Sundaram

Hi Dinesh
This is by design - "Whenever i am running the Availability Report for an server by adding the computer object, it is calculating all the monitors present inside the server and giving us the average/aggregate report as the server Uptime."
What you need to do is Add the health service watcher object rather than the computer object.
So in the availability report, when you select add object, type in a server name and search and you'll see the search results include a number of items. One of those has an icon of a pair of glasses (watcher!) - class health service watcher.
This will give you availability of the agent which is (I think) the metric that you want.
Cheers

  • Exchange Server 2010 mailflow reporting using SCOM 2007

    Hi,
We are using SCOM 2007R2 in our Organization and we are Monitoring Exchange server 2010.
We are in need of reports for Mailflow statistics (send and receive)from Exchange server 2010 using SCOM 2007R2.
Eg: Microsoft Exchange 2010 Server Reports Transport Platform Hourly server Statistics.
By default reports available in SCOM for Exchange server will not fulfill our requirement.
Earlier for Exchange server 2007 we are able to fetch the desired reports which is available by default.
Eg:  Exchange 2007 SMTP Message Received
           Exchange 2007 SMTP Message Sent
Is there any way to fetch the reports for Exchange server 2010 same as Exchange 2007 reports.
    Thanks

  • Service Availability Report in SCOM 2012

Hi, we are having SCOM 2012 SP1 and need a report on Service Availability for the below services running on the servers
    Active Directory
    DFS
    DNS
    PKI
    DHCP
Also, would like to understand how the SCOM would report the service availability when there are network issues (primarily WAN Issues) preventing the SCOM Server from reaching the server Hosting the service.
    Thanks,
    Naren.
    Thanks & regards, Naren.

    Hi,
In order to generate reports on the services you mentioned, you need to go through two steps for starters.
    1. You need to create Distributed Applications for the services (Active Directory excluded since that DA is already created when importing the AD MP) see https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/hh457612.aspx for how it can be done.
    2. You also need to create SLA´s (Service Level Tracking in the Authoring pane of the console) see https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/hh230719.aspx
The behaviour can somehow be modified since you decide what should count as donwtime when creating your SLA. However, a server which become unreachable would most likely be classified as critical and therefore it would "bring down" your service
    in SCOM.
Once you have created the DA´s you want, you can use the default report "Service Level Tracking Summary" Report under the category "Microsoft Service Level Report Library". Here, you can choose to go back to a certain time to display
your SLA levels. Be aware though, you can never go futher back than to the date where you created the DA and the SLA since that´s when the availability starts measuring.

  • Are there any tools available to find the Server's availability?

I have been trying to find out a tool/script to figure out the server's complete availability. Please be noted that I need to find only the complete availability for the whole month say July-2014, And there
are many other reasons that some of these servers would get rebooted every alternate day. It would be sufficient even if I am able to find the total downtime of the server in the whole month from which I can calculate the availability. Please be noted that
I need to calculate only the server availability and not for any application/service availability. I know we can get the availability report from SCOM 2012. But I have ~3000 Servers which are not in any monitoring tool in fact. I even tried if we can have
any sysinternals tools but no luck. Any suggestions would be helpful.

    Hiya,
The Event Viewer will hold events regarding shutdown and startup. You should work on event id's 6005 and 6006.
Hopefully your 3000 servers has remote powershell enabled or at least some other way of remotely getting the information.
Basically you should be able to create something like:
For each connected 6006/6005 events within a given time spand - get the time difference and add all those together.

  • SCOM 2012 SP1 availability report in MS Generic Report Libary shows inaccurate data

    Hi,
in SCOM 2012 sp1, we have the generic availability report showing many of our web sites with no up time beyond a certain date.   The web sites are ok,  the web availability monitors are all healthy and the monitors test ok
None of these web availability tests are in Maintenance mode although what we are observing certainly makes us think that they are.
We also have a Web transaction login monitor for WEBSITE(A)  that does not show this same outage for a login test.
However WEBSITE(A)'s availability monitor shows the same downtime as the other web availability tests.
Any thoughts on where to look for this problem?  Im guessing its a problem placing the data in the Warehouse?
    Thanks Lance

    Hi,
Based on my understanding, the report shows there is downtime for the web site, but the web site did work well always.
It seems like that there is old data stored in data warehouse, would you please check the report for recent date, such as one day or two days.

  • SCOM 2012 Installation does not show the SQL Server Instance for reporting services

I have an issue when I try to install SCOM 2012 with the Reporting Server feature, so in the step that I have to select a SQL Server Instance I cannot do that, because as you can see in the picture no one option appears.
In my scenario I have a DCSERVER, SQLSERVER2008 R2, SCCMSERVER 2012 and in other server I are trying to install SCOM 2012. I are trying to use the same SQLSERVER to SCOM 2012.
Should I do other procedure on SQL Server before to continue? I will apreciate someone could say me what I need to do to resolve this issue.
    Regards,
    Paul Mendoza.

    Hi Paul
Can you confirm that SQL Reporting Services is installed on the server that you are doing the install.
For a lab environment where you have SCOM Management Server, Web Server on one server and SQL Server on another you need to:
    - run setup on the SCOM Server and choose NOT to install reporting. The install here will create the OperationsManager database and OperationsManagerDW (reporting) database.
    - run setup on the SQL Server where SQL Reporting Services is installed. Then choose to install reporting. You should then see the SQL Reporting Services instance on the above window which is blank in your screenshot.
Take note of the warning in that window - SCOM uses its own role based security within SQL Reporting Services and this can break other reporting. E.g. you can't install SCOM and SCSM reporting (SQL RS component) together.
    Cheers

  • SCOM Availability reports gives monitoring unavailable

    Hi,
We are facing issues in availability reports. We fetch daily availability reports for windows servers. We had selected unplanned maintenance and monitoring unavailable as the downtime parameters.
Availability report gives about 2-3 hours as monitoring unavailable for all servers although the agents are healthy in SCOM and management servers are also not down. Please suggest what's wrong here.
    Regards,
    Daya Ram

    Hi,
If the agent is down, and SCOM will send an alert for heartbeat failure. Would you please check out whether those agents have ever been turned off?
And by running below SQL query we can find out all alerts about heartbeat failure.
    SELECT
          [AlertName],[BaseManagedEntity].DisplayName
    ,[RepeatCount]
    FROM [OperationsManager].[dbo].[Alert]
    JOIN [OperationsManager].[dbo].[BaseManagedEntity]
    ON [ALERT].BaseManagedEntityId=[BaseManagedEntity].BaseManagedEntityId
    WHERE [ALERT].AlertName
    = 'Microsoft.SystemCenter.HealthService.Heartbeat'

  • SCOM Availability reporting

    Hi,
We had availability reporting requirement that need to be delivered for a list of key servers.
I created a group with these key servers as its members and started reporting on these servers. I was surprised to see the no. of servers in the report were different than those added in the group. For eg. I added 1400 servers in the group and got the report
for 1500 servers. Don't know from where these extra servers are coming in reports when I hadn't added these in the group itself. Can anyone pls suggest what is wrong here.
P.S. - I had earlier added more servers in the group and later on deleted some of the servers from the group.
    Regards,
    Daya Ram

    Hi,
As you said, you had earlier added more servers in the group and later on deleted some of the servers from the group.
I suppose those data was for those server your added before. We can compare the date when you delete those servers from the group and the date you can get the report for those servers.

  • Availability reports not working in SCOM 2012

    Hi,
All of a sudden the availability in our SCOM 2012 is not working. I mean it just shows the plain white bar indicating UP(unmonitored) instead of the Green (available) or Red bar.
I tried to check the MS logs but could not find anything related to this issue. Please note that other performance reports are working fine. It's just the availability reports that's playing with me.
    Any suggestions please?
    Thanks
    Srini

    Hi Gautam,
This issue is resolved by restarting the SCOM services on all the MS. For some reason the MS were not able to insert the data in to the DW, once i restarted the services everything is back to normal.
    Thanks.

  • Availability reports expand object list when opened via web not console after upgrading to UR5

recently upgraded to UR5 from UR3 of SCOM 2012 SP1.
This worked fine before the upgrade and now it does the following odd behavior with the "+ object(s)" link.
I created an availability report (MS Generic Report Library) for one or more servers through the console.  It looks OK through the console, but when I open the report through the web interface to the report server, the "+ object(s)" section
is already expanded.  It even shows a plus "+" sign when it IS expanded and changes to a minus "-" sign when it is collapsed.  This is backwards.
This worked OK prior to UR5.
    Ideas?
    Ted

    Hi,
This issue should be related with the report definition in the SSRS, it seems like that the object's visibility value  is show, but the sign is "-" when defined in the SSRS.
Please post in the SQL forum for further assistance.

  • Need info about RH Server 6 and reports

I'm interisted in RH Server 6 but I'm unable to locate much

--I have system requirements from the Adobe site, but what is
the "server" and what does installation and setup entail? About how
how long does it take, or how difficult, to achieve operability?
--According to a piece by John Daigle, the server component

what preparation should that server have before the installation in
    addition to installation of IIS?
--I know nothing about security/firewall protocols. We will

--The summaries of the reports Unanswered Questions and

    Access database.

    Hey, Mike!
I found a few things for you. I'm in a hurry, so I'll list
    them quickly.
For the Trial, go to the Adobe downloads page
    http://www.adobe.com/downloads/
Then select RoboHelp Server 6 from the dropdown list. You
will be asked to register (free) if you haven't already. When you
arrive at the download page make sure you note the Trial Serial #
To make it easier for you, its:
    1336-1033-2628-5062-0993-4570
You can also find a RoboHelp Server 6 Getting Started Guide
    here
    http://www.adobe.com/support/robohelp/downloads/getting_started_rh6_server.pdf
You were asking about IIS. Yes. As Colum says, this comes
with virtually any version of Windows Server (or Windows XP
Professional). However, you must install and configure it. I am not
an IT or web administrator so it took me a while to learn, but
amazingly I got it to work if you're patient and follow the steps.
(I'm speaking of both IIS and Robohelp Server) Clearly IIS
configuration is not a trivial thing and it is assumed that an
author would have help and cooperation from the IT or Web Admin
    folks.
As for customizing reports. At present, the existing reports
are the only ones offered. Since these reports are generated from a
database (Access, SQL Server or Oracle) I would think (haven't done
it myself) that someone familiar with database adminstration could
open the DB (after a backup that is) and be more creative with
    generating customized reports.
You are right that the "Question" does in fact mean any
search term or phrase that an end user puts in the search field.
This is the string that is stored and reported as a question. In
discussing this with the Adobe team at STC last month, they agreed
that this was definitely a holdover from the legacy software and is
due for a change sometime in the future.
To answer your other question, text entered in the Index
field is not stored in the database, only the search term field.
Since taking on the old legacy product from eHelp and
Macromedia, Adobe is focusing most of its attention on beefing up
the client authoring app for the next version (Adobe RoboHelp 7).
My assumption is that they are keen on improving the RoboHelp
Server as well. I have passed along many feature requests along the
lines you seem to suggest and hopefully the server will evolve
    along with the client app.
Even with its limitations, my clients tell me RoboHelp Server
provides very useful feedback to help them improve their knowledge
base content to make it more helpful and responsive to users needs.
They also like the searchability of PDF, Word, PPT and Excel as
well...something which plain WebHelp without the RoboHelp Server
    does not do.
I probably didn't get to everything, but hope this helps.
    John
