Service Cost and Material Reservation

Dear Experts,
We have came up with a requirement that maintenance service costs and material requirements for the same to be captured through PM orders.
- A budget will be used to paid maintenance service costs
- Service costs are to be paid for external parties(framework PR will be raised through PM Order)
- Material requirements for the maintenance to be mentioned in the same order but it should NOT consume the budget.
- Only cost of service should consume the budget.
However when i tried, using control key PM03, budget get consumed when materials are requested.
How do i cater the requirement.
Thanks in Advance...

whn u reserve a material in maintenance order. Material will have cost element assigned to it (via. valuation class) this cost element will be mapped with a cost center. That cost center should be mentioned in your work order settlement rule. so then your material cost will be effecting cost center.
For service you are having WBS so that WBS you will maintain in same work order settlement rule. Your service cost will effect that WBS element.
Both are different process.
For this purpose only i had requested you to ask your FI team and confirm for cost element and cost center mapping.
Refer below eg so your problem will be clear.
Cost Element -1 (service) is mapped to WBS and Cost Center
Cost Element -2 (material) is mapped to WBS and Cost Center.
Or
Cost Element -1 (service) with WBS
Cost Element -2 (material) with Cost Center
If first case then you will have budge mix up problem
If second case then no budget mix up problem

  • Info on Service procurement and Material procurement in Purchasing

    hi
we are dealing with a purchase register for services report and a purchase register for material report.
Can anyone explain in detail about material procurement and service procurement in MM  and
what are all the documents created/ involved in the flow and explain the relationships between these documents ( between PO & GRN&INVOICE  like  i,e 1:m or 1:1)?
    1. PURCHASING - MATERIAL PROCUREMENT
           PO->GRN->INVOICE.
    2.PURCHASING - SERVICE PROCUREMENT
    PO->_?_-> INVOICE.
And differences between material and service procurement.

    Hi,
    Material POs.
One PO, Item can have many GRN Items.
One GRN Item can have multiple Invoice items.
This is same for services as well.
In Services, the equivalent of GRN is acceptance of the service entry sheets.

  • Service Text and Material PO text

    Hi All,
We are facing problems with SAP Texts in ECC 6.0
We have maintained some texts in Service long text and material PO text in respective masters. While creating PO we can change the Material Po Text. But when we try to edit the service long text in PO, system says it is password protected. The same is the case for material PO text while creating PR.
Can some one highlight what is the password for changing the text or how the same can be changed.

see You have your tax procedure in OBYZ t-code
There you will have subtotal  price+excise duty as subtotal in your tax procedure your excise will zero so remain only material price
    subtotal 591  =material+service tax -statical
    592=service tax 10% on 591

  • Service Master and Material Master relation

    Hi Friends,
Our client requirement is to procure and sale same services.
and client wants to post the services to different G/L accounts for ex: if I am raising a sale order or Purchase order,
then for each different service line item to be posted to different G/L accounts.
Initially I thought of creating the service master with different valuation classes but when the same thing comes to sales then with service master they cannot create the sale order.
Hence kindly advice in this case whether to go with the service master creation and create the PO's with the service masters
or   go with the creation of material master with the services material type with different valuation classes?
    Thanks in Advance.
    regards,
    Sasi Kanth J

    Hi,
For services the concerned entries have to be maintained in table T030.
The system will then suggest the G/L accounts as per the valuation class
maintained in table T030 (Standard Accounts Table, transaction OBYC).
    The system will determine the
G/L account depending on the following criteria:
    T001K-BWMOD
    BKLAS
    T001-KTOPL
    T163K-KOMOK
Services level is one level below materials, which results in
some inherent restrictions compared to materials. In case of
services the values have to be maintained in the table T030.

  • Service master and  material type 'service'

    Hi everybody.
I am a bit confused about "Service"
There is a service master that we can use to store and procure service.
Also we can use material master to store 'service' using material type 'service' and procure service in that way.
I want to know what is the difference between the two ? When shall I use what ?

    Hi
If you do not want to use 'External Service Management', you can use materials of type Service (DIEN).
This will be similar to any other account assigned material PO with free text. Instead of using free text, you are using material master and also helps you in identifyign service purchases from other material purchases. You will not use item category 'D' in this case. You do GR here.
Service masters are used when you use item category 'D' ('External Service Management'). There are additional flexibility of defining service specifications, service outlines, using service entry sheet etc here.

  • Differenc between Service PR and Material PR.

    Hi,
Why we cannot change the currnecy in a service  PR but we can change the Currency in a normal PR.
    Why the difference is existing?
    Thanks

    hi,
as per my understanding, since the currency is copied from material master i.e co.code for normal PR ,here we can change the currency.
comming to service PO here we dont maintain any master data and val class so sys will take the default co.code curr which cannot be changed.

  • View labor and material costs in plant maintenance work order

    Hi
I am aware we can bring in the costs in the work order through Activity types and assigning the costs to the acitvity type.
Is there anyway we can bring in the actual cost for the work performed by the associate? should we link the work center to HRMS?
Please advise. I need your valuable input for all the points below.
Main points that need to be addressed:
    1. Each associate that is capable of confirming hours to a work order needs to be assigned an hourly rate that is reflective of the actual cost for the work performed by this associate. These hours are then tracked through the work order to give a cost for labor assigned to that particular job.
2.Any materials used in the performance of the required task(s) dictated by the work order will be assigned to that order. These materials can be assigned through SAP purchase requisitions, tool crib spot buys, or procurement with a purchase card.
3.Standard reports need to be created so we can track the total maintenance costs for any level of the equipment hierarchy as currently set up in SAP. When this report is created it should show the total maintenace costs for all the levels of the equipment hierarchy broken down into labor cost and material cost.  I am using Tcode IW37N and IW40 . Is there any suggestion?

    Greetings Chandra,
    1) You will need to create Work Centres for your associates and create the Activity Types. You can default the Activity Type for each Work Centre and maintain the rate for the activity via t-code KP26 planning.
    2) Planned and unplanned Purchase Requisitions for Components with category N will debit the order with material costs. But what do you mean by "tool crib spot buys" and "procurement with a purchase card"? You may need to develop a solution to do such postings to the Order (or for purposes of Cost controlling, manual activity allocation similar to confirming work may be desired such as Manual Activity Allocations via CO transactions (KB21N), unless you can cover that with Purchase Requisitions and POs with "F Order" account assignment.
    3) MCI8 Cost Report should be suitable for you, once you set up the Value Categories & Cost Key Figures.
    See
    PMIS Cost Analysis Reporting Overview
Maintenance Cost Key Figures in MCI3 and MCI8 Reports
PM Order Value categories and costs display

  • Material Reservation Process for Work Order

I am new to the Plant Maintenance work order and material reservation process.
    Here is my scenario:
I create a work order with a material that is maintained in WM and IM.
    Reservation is created.
I got to MB26 to post goods issue
Once I do this I see the qty of material moved as a negative amount to storage type 914 in IM (LS26) and stock removed out of WM (MMBE).
Is this where the business process stops?
Do I ever remove the stock out of 914?
Does the material go from 914 to 916 and then get cleared out of inventory?
    Thank you

    Hey,
An inventory cost estimate is used to update tax and commercial price, or prices other than
standard. In other words, the costing type is not for the standard price.

  • Material Reservations and PO

    Hello,
my question is at which stage of the network the material (components) reservations or Purchase orders, automatically trigger.
when the project (with networks and materials) is created or released.
because I have issue like the project is in TECO and for some reason we are planning to undo the TECO. if I undo the status, will it again creates the PO or reservation.
Is there any document, which explains in detail about the configuration of PS -MM integration.
Is there any concept like labor reservation just like material reservation. I am not sure is question itself true or not.
    Thank You

    Hi Gokul,
My answer is correct considering the following in my perception and not in SAP functionality view.
    <<<<
At what status of the WBS / network will this Material reservations or PO's get triggered. Is it at Created or Released.
    >>>>
When WBS elements are in created status means project has not yet received the approval to go ahead from the project controller or whoever may be in the business.
If some reasons, Management cancel the project or Customer cancel the project and its very easy to set the DLFL flag on project. But what will happen to the committed costs. Do the Management ready to take up unwanted burden and raise unwanted inventories in warehouse. Risk Mitigation is an alternate option but try to avoid inviting the risks which will save time and money.
There are so many things to consider just not going by the SAP functionality. This is what I feel and you may not accept my statement but at the same time I respect your views and ideas.

  • Subcontracting scrap, component consumption and service cost booked to vendor

    Hi,
Our client is issuing 100 pieces of component "A" to subcontracting vendor to manufacture finished product "B". In MIGO, we are receiving finished product B and consumption is booked for 100 pieces of component A . Invoice is paid to the subcontracting vendor for the service cost.
Later, we realized finished product did not met the quality standards and decided to scrap out the finished product B. This is scrapped and stocked out using std. SAP using 551 mov type.  But the client want to charge scrap cost of finished product B, service cost (Job work cost) and the consumed components (A) of 100 pieces to subcontracting vendor. How to map this challenging scenario in Std. SAP.
    Regards,
    Sat

No need to create subcontracting PO.
Just create a standard PO, use material as FG (Material B as per your scenario)
Enter the vendor (whom you want to charge for it)
    Let me explain the scenario:
    1. You have created a subcontracting PO for vendor X, FG material B and component A.
Subcontracting service charge = Rs. 10.
    Price for Material B = Rs. 50
    Price for material A = 30.
    2. You have done GR.
Now the FG material B is in your stock. (Here, you have done 551 movement type). Right ?
Now just do not do 551 movement type. Leave the stock as it is.
    3. Then create a standard PO for material B and vendor X, give the price = (10+50+30) 90 and tick the return option in PO line item.
    4. Then do goods receipt. Movement type 161 will be automatic posted in system and stock will be consumed from your storage location.
    Then accounting entry will be
    Stock account Credit
    GR/IR account Debit.
    5. Then you can do credit memo to vendor from MIRO with the reference of this PO. Then the accounting entry will be
    GR/IR account Credit
    Vendor Account Debit.

  • Service Order Planned Costs and Cost Center Planned Line Items

    Experts,
I am curious of Service Order Planned costs, and whether or not these planned costs are being posted to the Cost Center linked to the Service Order Operation's work center.
I am a but puzzled as I don't see any planned costs from any Service Order Operation in a cost center linked to the Operations work center, when reviewing "Cost Centers: Plan Line Items" report.
    BR,
    Cenk

The planned costs were input in one of the Service Order operations as planned hours. There is a column for it in the operations list. The amount of hours have incurred a planned cost on the Service Order header.
I simply assumed that this cost would be credited to the Cost Center linked to the operation's Work Center. But that is obviously not the case. I am not familiar with the PLICC field and the functionality it provides.
    Thanks!
