Service Material and Costing

Hi
We have set up a service material DIEN and placed a Sales Order and got it to Billing.
The acounting doc is not creating due to "No standard cost for material".
The standard material type DIEN does not have costing views. It is a service and therefore nothing to cost. .. but how do I prevent this?
Any clues appreciated.
Thanks
Lee

Hi
Your requirement class settings must allow sales order as a cost object
1. Go to sale order, procurement tab
2. Check whats the req type
3. Go to OVZH and check whats the req class assigned to this req type
4. Go to OVZG and check whats the acount assignment cateory in req class.. Ideally, it should be E in your case
5. The account assignment catg shud have consumption posting field as E
6. Your Req Class would have Costing indicator / Costing Id, etc.. Choose the settings suitable to you...
Ideally, it can be "Automatic Costing & Marking"

  • How to settle qty to material and costs to cost center?

    Hi,
We have a requirement to settle the quantity part of the production order to a non-valuated material and the costs part of the production order to a cost center.
Our question is as follows :-
    1) During GR to inventory will the production order's costs balance remain as it is (since the material is a non-valuated material) so that it can be settled to a cost center (as a variance) during settlement? We expect only the quantity to be updated in the material master and not the costs during GR.
If the above does not work then in plan B, we can still use a valuated material and set the standard price to zero so that the full order balance will still remain in the production order so that we can settle it as a variance to a cost center.

in Standard SAP the cost and the quantity will be updated in the material master while making GR.

  • Material and cost center

    Hi,
May I know where is material kept?
As I understand, only when consumption of materail, it is debited to cost center. So before consume, the material is in inventory.
I would like to know if in inventory, then it is not belong to any cost center? then why in profit center?
    thanks

    Hello
    1) Yes it is possible to debit cost center when the material is consumed in the cost center. An example of this is consumables which are consumed against cost centers with movement type 201. This is because these materials are not part of the BOM and pretty in nature.
    2) Whenever wages and salaries are booked the relevant cost centers are debited. Here the wages account is debited (so also cost center) and bank/wages payable account is credited. When we do actual production we charge direct labour to Manufacturing orders as an activity. This is only a CO entry where the cost center is credited and the manufacturing order is debited.
    3) Profit center is a responsibility area means the person who is managing the profit center is not only responsible for the profit but also responsible for the return on investment. Investment means total of current and fixed assets - liabilities. There may be two profit centers say A and B with investments of 1000 USD and 5000 USD. Both make a profit of 200 USD. So when we see the ROI then A is much better then B.
So to find the total assets which includes stock, we need to maintain them profit center wise. This is the reason why the profit center field is available in material master.
    Hope this clarifies your doubt.

  • Combine billing of service material and std. material

    Hi all,
i have a query regarding my client requirement is they are creating a bill manually with two different kind of mat. with two type of taxes i.e. Service tax and vat. example this invoice has 5 line items 1-3 are the chemicals which are deliverable and 4-5 are service items are not relevant for deliver. from 1-3 they will charge Vat% and 4-5 at service tax we have two doc. type one is for chemicals and other one is for services, can i design a new document type to do both in one, not able to understand please help...
    Vivek Sharma

For these kind of business process,
Maintain to 2 diff Item cat for Deliverable(TAN) and service items(TAS) based on there deliverable and service characteristics/functionality.
I Cat determination for same sales doc type, maintain 2 different I Cat Group in material master for Deliverable and service items. Accordingly, your Deliverable and service items will determine there respective I Cat in sales doc.
Now, formulate wisely include both VAT and Service tax condition type accordingly into your pricing procedure.
So, when your maintaining Deliverable material, in Sales:Sales org1 tab, in Tax data section, accordingly maintain TAX Classification for VAT Condition Type as Taxable and service tax condition type TAX Classification as NO TAX (or as according to your tax classification tax condition types). And accordingly, maintain tax classification for your service material.
Thereafter, maintain condition record for VAT & service tax as per requirement.
    Hope it solves your query.
    Thanks & Regards,

  • Planning layout for material and cost element

  • Material and cost element

    Hi All,
    Can someone clarify this?
Do we assign a material to a cost element? If so why do we do that.
All i know is every material is assigned a valuation class which is used in account determination OBYC.
    Regards,
    Reddy

    Hi,
The Cost elements are created from Costing point of view. Generally the valuation class have the assignement to GL Accounts in OBYC Account assignment.
Sometimes it happens that some of the material are directly consumed to the cost center, in such case we have to assign the cost elements (GL Account) to cost center in OBK9. if the user wants to have the effect in directly to COPA, you should check the profitability segment in OKB9.
So understanding indirectly, Materials are to be assigned to Cost element to be effected in Controlling.
    I hope you understood.

  • Service Provider and costs incurred

    Hey Guys
My playbook arrives this week, Ive read a few article's about MTN not supporting playbook? Although the articles do seem to be a bit outdated (2011). i went  onto the MTN website and couldnt find any further information on the subject, infact there is no reference to playbook on their website @ all?
Will MTN allow me to bridge the playbook to my existing contract? Vodacom seems to be the preferred playbook provider but that would mean a 2nd contract...
Also, what are the costs involved in video messenging playbook to playbook, if connected to my cellphone account? Will i be charged over and above my monthly contract bill, or does it fall within the 'upcapped data package' that blackberry users currently enjoy?
    Id appreciate your assistance.
    Thanks

Is there nobody in Sun looking at the Java plugin? I opened a bug report with this and that fell into some abyss. It has been several months and I have seen no response from Sun. Nobody with any knowledge seems to be monitoring plugin forums here or on java.net.
Has Sun abandoned support for the Java plugin?

  • Service Contract and Repair procedure

    Hi,
I am struggling with a Service mgmt issue.
There is a service contract in which we maintain the terms and conditions of service (bill plan) and also give the rates for service.
Now when i run a repair at plant scenario wherein i bring back the defective matr. for repairs, the service notification is connecting to that contract and takes the contract number.
What is fail to understand is that how do the contract terms and conditions affect the repair process.
The process i am following is as follows:
1)Created a contract for the C/s and material to give service for one year and the customer paid one time for that through billing the Contract type WV.
    2) For the repairs, i did the following
Service notification - repair Order - return delivery of defective matr to service center - Service order creation - carrying the repair (added a spare part also) and technically completed the order - Delivery of repaired matr to customer - Resource related billing request creation (DP90) - Billing the repair order - Settlimg the Service order - Settling the Repair order.
In all this process, i do not find any link between the Contract and repair cycle. Ideally since the customer has paid for the service one time, we should only charge for whatever spare parts are used.
Hope I have been able to explain it. looking forward to any help on this issue
    Thanks
    Arijeet

    HI Arijeet,
conditions and the price agreements for the service material and materials will be picked from the service contract into the repair order.
    regards
    Ravi.

  • Service Order and Sales Order Integration

    Hi All,
Through the requirement class settings in customizing, I have managed to generate a service order in the background upon creation of sales order.
To achieve this I have maintained the following settings:
    Order type = OR
    Sales document item category TAD
    - Item Cat TAD is linked to Requirements Type SERA (SD IMG->Determination Of Requirement Types Using Transaction)
-- Requirements Type SERA is linked to Requirements Class 203 (SD IMG->Define Requirements Types)
--- Requirements Class 203 is lined to order type SM01 (SD IMG->Define Requirements Classes)
I have also maintained my service material 'ZPBK001' in OISD screen. So, system allows me to create a sales order for this service material and service order is generated in the background.
However, my requirement is to not to generate service order in the background but just create a sales order. Then manually create a service order and also manually enter the sales order as an SDI settlement object in the service order.
So to achieve this, if I remove the service material from OISD screen, then system doesn't generates service order in the background but gives an Information (not an error or warning) message saying:
No entry for plant 1200, service object 01 ZPBK001 in table T399A
Its only an information message and when I tick it as ok then system gives another information mesage saying:
    Error when processing Service order
So the result is service order is not generated in the background which is fine as per my requirement because I can manually create a service order and then manually enter the sales order in the service order.
However, during the creation of sales order, is there a way that I dont get these information messages regarding service order not being generated in the background?

    Hi Pete,
Thank you for your reply. As per your suggestion I have removed the "Transfer of requirements" check from SD IMG->Define Requirements Classes. However, when I create a sales order, system still gives me the pop-up Information message saying:
No entry for plant 1200, service object 01 ZPBK001 in table T399A which is because I have not maintained service material in OISD screen.
Also, I get the information message as:
    Error when processing Service order
The first information message regarding service material is ok. However, is there a setting that I can maintain that I dont get the second message regarding error when processing service order?
I also checked item category details in VOV7, there is no settings for transfer of requirements in vov7

  • Can a service material be configurable?

I want to onfigure a service material and I want to define the characteristics of that particular service material in the case of a variant configuration.

    Hi Gaurav
Creation of Master Data for Service Contract Items
    Use
You store data on services and products which is essential for Sales and Distribution processing in material master records.
    Activities
You can create material master records for service items in the usual way. For basic services, use the material type DIEN. To define more complex services, you can use configurable or pre-configured standard service products that have the material type KMAT.
You can create a standard service product for which you define a variety of characteristics, such as:
    Response time for problem calls
    Level of hotline service
    Replacement parts coverage
Each characteristic is assigned a range of possible values, which can be defined in one of the following ways:
Entered manually during configuration in the service contract (as a configurable product)
Defined as a predefined version of the standard product (as a configured product)
Using a Standard Product - Configurable
The following table illustrates some of the possible values for each characteristic:
    Standard Product: Copier_Service
    Response time for problem calls
    Level of telephone hotline service
    Replacement parts coverage
    2 hours
    5 days/week, 8 hours a day
    Type 1 - yes/no
    8 hours
    7 days/week, 8 hours a day
    Type 2 - yes/no
    24 hours
    7 days/week, 24 hours a day
    Type 3 - yes/no
When you enter the standard configurable service product as an item in a service contract, the system automatically displays the configuration editor. You then enter values for the various characteristics in your standard service product.
Using a Standard Product - Configured
If you use a standard product and frequently assign the same values to the characteristics, you can create a standard product with predefined values. The following example shows three different predefined configurations for the standard service product Copier_Service:
Configured Material (Standard Product Copier_Service Plus Predefined Values)
    Name of configured material
    Response time for problem calls
    Level of telephone hotline service
    Replacement parts coverage
    Enhanced service
    2 hours
    7 days/week, 24 hours a day
    Types 1-3 - yes
    Full service
    8 hours
    7 days/week, 12 hours a day
    Types 1, 2 - yes
    Economy service
    8 hours
    5 days/week, 8 hours a day
    Type 1 - yes
When you enter the standard configured service product as an item in a service contract, the system automatically copies the predefined values into the contract. To display the values, you can select the configuration editor manually

  • Service Material Type(DIEN) handling

    Dear all
How do we handle Service material Type? if we are not handling services in Ext services management. What will be the cycle of procurement, for example shal I have 1. material master, 2. vendor 3. inforecord, 4. Source list? Can I use Normal  PO for ordering the service material, and what about goods receipt and stock and value maintenance and finally how do I handle Invoicing?
    Thanks

    Hi Samuel,
Procurement of Service material is same as procurement cycle of any material, the only difference is that instead of good receipt we do service entry sheet and invoice verification W.R.T. Service entry sheet.
Yes, you can maintain 1. Material Master, 2.Service Mater, 3.Vendor, 4.Inforecord.
    5. You can not use normal PO and have to maintain account assignment category (K or C or P or any one ur requirement) and item Category “D” in PO (ME21N)
    6. Create service entry sheet (ML81N) with respect to Purchase order,
    7. Invoice Verification (MIRO) with respect to Service entry sheet
    8. Payment to Vendor
Hope the above will help you,
    Regards,

  • Assign variant class to service material for preconfigured service package

    Hi,
Could somebody help with the steps on how to create a service material with variant. The requirement is to create a preconfigured service package.
I'm trying to create a service material and assign a variant class to it. Based on some examples in IDES, i see that in MRP 3 view there is a plant-specific configuration view which holds the variant check box and configurable material reference.
I'm unable to get that view while creating the material.
    Regards
    Rasheed

    Hi Vishal,
From the PS perspective only one document type is allowed to be used for purchase requisitions. Therefore you can only maintain one in TA OPTT.
However, the SAP note no. 114213 gives an explanation of about how the document type is determined and shows where a modification to change this could be implemented.
    Hope it helps.

  • Material and Service in a Single Line Req

    Hi
We hv a requirement of material and service in a single line item, Exampls is client ordering some fabrication work to one vendor. It involves both matl and service changre.
For the matl cost we need to calculate VAT and for the service charge we need to calculate service tax.
For ex 1000 is the total amt for a line item. In this 600 to be calaulated for VAT 4% and for balance 400 to be calculated as serv tax 12.5%.
The same is happening in sales and they can be do this. How tro do the same in MM purchasing.
    Vijay

    Hi
Can it be possible to make a PO only one line item. Say item 10 thats only one item. That line 10 have both matl and service.
Both matl tax and service tax need to be calculated for the line item 10.
    Is this possible.
Client dont req these as 2 line items. Here the scenarion and req is like that.

  • Cost Elements and Cost Centers in a service order

    Hello Finance Friends....
I am inquiring about something that has been happening and I can not find the answer as to how.  I spoke with the finance consultant and he seems to think it is the valuation class being changed but the valuation class has not been changed at all....so here is my problem as I am at a lost...it is an intermittent problem....
I have a service order for material to be repaired by the customer...lets say coming in for Ansi Calibration with repair.
The technician will issue material to the service order for repair....if the technician does not end up using the material for repair he will reverse the goods issue and then the material goes back to stock...
in my scenerio ....when the material is issued it is under GL account (cost elelment) 5XXXXXXX.  When the reversal was done it went to 6XXXXXXXX.  So when the DP90 transaction is done (billing request) it gives the error for cost center XXXX cost elelment 6XXXXXXX and can not complete the transaction DP90. The error is the Material combination for DP90....this works in others....these are just one offs that it is happening to and there seems to be no rhyme or reason to why it happens... I have tried reverse the transaction to put the material back to the service order and then manually reverse myself using the original GL account number it was issued on (5XXXXXX)...however when doing the DP90 it still reads the 6XXXXXXX cost element and cost center XXX.  Keep in mind that the valuation class or material type has not been changed.
Where is the GL account and Cost center being derived from in the service order?  What can I check?
    Thanks in advance....

    Hi,
Check in T030 table for OBYC assignments and TKA3A table for OKB9 settings.
Also check account assignment tab of PO.
    Best Regards,

  • Issue in generating Invoice with standard and service material

There is one scenario where along with standard material (i.e Tube bending machine) they charge the customer for the Design and Development of a machine (which is a service). Is it possible to make a standard order with the standard material(with excise and cst/vat) and service material (with service tax only) in one single order?
I have tried with both the material in a single order but while making invoice system is taking only the standard material as in  item category we have mentioned Billing relevance from delivery document. And service material will not have the delivery.
I would be thankful if you could spare some time and check the exact problem.

    Hello,
Yes.. this is a common problem when you use Delivery relevent material and service material in the same order. Why don't you use the service material in differnt order and invoice it? or do you have any restriction like the delivery relevent material and the service material should be billed in one invoice?
