Service Priority in VMM Services ???

Hi everyone,
In service templates, one of the property is ServicePriority - (normal,low,high)
What is the purpose of this property ????
Since for vm template we set the HA priority, why we set priority at service level in vmm??

For low, this will mean that other VMs (with either High, medium) will start up first.
For medium, it is generally random which VM that start up first.
For high, these have priority over the rest and will always startup first.
For service templates, this goes for the entire service.

VMM 2012R2 UR4 - Version 3.2.7768.0
Not sure when this started happening since I haven't had to update or create a new RunAs account in VMM in some time, but every time I do, either through the console or through PowerShell it throws an error about The specified directory service attribute
or value does not exist. The VMM Service account is the same as it always has been, and other than this issue everything with VMM is working fine. The full text of the error message is below.
I am hoping someone has some ideas because I don't have any more at this point.

VMM - Add 2 hosts in cluster. 1st added OK, 2nd Failed Error 416. Retry gives Error 2912 An instance of the service is already running 0x80070420

Have 2 host cluster as part of infrastructure adding to VMM.
Added cluster server. 1st had no issue and has picked up it's VMs. Second gave this error below:
Error (416)
Agent installation timed out while waiting on service VMMAgentInstaller on host02domain.private.
Recommended Action
Ensure that the Windows Installer service is running on host02.domain.private and try the operation again.
Sure the Windows Installer has nothing to do with this but in case I manually started it on the server without issue.
On retrying first without starting Windows Installer manually and then doing so in both instances I get:
Error (2912)
An internal error has occurred trying to contact the host02.domain.private server: : .

I've tried killing the VMM Agent running on the host (which is running now after the attempted deploy) and rerunning - as the second error indicates it can't run because it's already running (far as I can figure). But even though it takes longer to run then
it still fails with exactly the same error.
I've checked the host and winrm shows as already running and already set up for remote management.
Am I missing something?

For your case , I would suggest you to stop VMM service and remove the added cluster from
scvmm then follow the article and add cluster again .

Service Desk Message Notification with Priority.

Hi,
Service desk functionality is configured on our Solution Manager 4.0 System which is sending automatic e-mail updates to users, but priority of the e-mail is not in the message.
Project management, need priority to be mentioned in e-mail. Where and what changes or configuation should I make to achive this ?

is this update that you mentioned sending the standard smartform CRM_SLFN_ORDER_SERVICE_01 as the standard action SLFN0001_ADVANCED_MAIL does? This smartform has the priority by default, you should not have this problem.

Service Ticket "Priority" Field...

I have a question about changing the Priorities in the Service Ticket Header Overview.
The only place I have found so far that changes these is under:
SPRO > CRM > Transactions > Settings For Activities > Maintain Categories, Goals, and Priorities > Maintain Priorities of Dates.
It appears though, that when the priorities are changes here, that it changes the priorities not only for the CRM Service Ticket, but in Solution Manager as well. Aren't these supposed to be separate?

What is the standard way of Escalation process in SAP CRM Service Ticket management based on the Priority, Due Date and Status together. SLA can be usde with Service Ticket ?

Service ticket's priority value

Dear Experts,
I'm just wondering on how to perform the customizingby by add in a new priority value, where the Priority is the value that available during service ticket creation in Satellite system.
FYI, I'm using Solman version 3.2 and the Satellite system is R/3.
I did tried some customizing in SolMan for the Priority field, but the added value wasn't reflected back to R/3 during the Service Message creation.
Could you please comment on where i went wrong?

I am setting up SCVMM 2012 R2 in a production environment. Whenever I restart the SCVMM virtual machine the VMM service doesn't start automatically, I have to manually start it. I checked the VMM logs and in the event viewer i find the below error,

I added the 'VMMSVC' account as db_owner and sysadmin and also NT_Authority\System with same permissions still the service doesn't start on the start up.
I googled a lot and I find the threads with the error containing "General failure" but not with the above. Can someone please help me to find out why this error is occuring.

It's often only a problem of the service dependencies. SCVMM starts to fast, SQL server on the same machine in not initialized yet. Here are working service dependencies to ensure SQL server is initializes before SCVMM starts.
You can set the service dependencies directly in regedit (as always: be careful modifying the registry ...)
Here is the content of a reg file setting the dependency.

VMM 2012 RC - Service Deployment Error 22591

When attempting to scale out a machine tier within a service I receive the following error:
Error (22591)
The specified computer name (WEB05) is already in use by another virtual machine or by a virtual machine configuration object.
Recommended Action
Ensure that the computer name is unique in the VMM environment, and then try again.
I've checked DNS, AD, VMM, etc but have not current record of this name in use. Each time I retry this operation, the number increments by one (using web## variable in service template) but returns the same error. Is this something wedged in the DB?

This still appears to be a problem.
I encountered this issue during the deployment of service with several attached machine configurations. When the service failed to fully deploy I ended up with a mess.
- The service was not listed in SC but was discoverable via PS. I had to remove from here
- VM's were deleted from SC but they orphaned a configuration somewhere so now when I try to redeploy the service it continues to increment my machine names based on the configured pattern.

Unable to start vmms service as an domain admin user

I am not able to bring up the Hyper-V manager service on 2012 ssytem as a domain admin user Failure encountered is "Error 1297: A privilege that the service requires to function properly does not exist in the service account configuration".
Secondly,
If we bring up Hyper-V manager service as local system user then connection from SCVMM2012R2 is failing with "Contact the virtual machine manager administrator to verify that your account is a member of a valid user role and then try the oepration

You set the VMM service logon as "local system account " then the service can run but scvmm can not connect to it ?
Please check :
1 . if domain admins group exists in local administrators group
2. this service should be set to start automatically and logon as "local system account"

Inbox Search:Locking Service Ticket Categories,Priority & Status for update

Hello Gurus,
If I create a Service Ticket and save it, I get the transaction number and then can search for the Service Ticket using either the Interaction History or the Inbox.
If I search using the Interaction History, I get taken to the Interaction Record which I am ok with (would be better if it took me straight back to the Service Ticket though), but can navigate to the Service Ticket where I can update the Categories, Priority and Status.
If I search using the Inbox, I go straight back to the Service Ticket and the Categories, Priority and Status are Greyed out and I cannot update the Service Ticket. This for me is a problem as the Agents will need to update the Categories as well as the Priority and Status.
Please would somebody assist me with this.

Now there could be only two reasons
1. check for the bsp_wd_workbench transaction, launch crm_is and go to the viewset SRVTHEAD
open the code SrvTHead.htm and check for the
"change button = true" (it may not be exactly this as i'm not on system rgt now .
2. Check for the role authorization , i think the user you are logging from does not have the create and change authorization for the service ticket .This can be rectified by the basis person just ask him to provide you with the concern role for the business transactions you would require .

Priority in service notifications.

Currently I work in SAP ECC 6.0 and I have defined, in IMG menu, notification priority in the followings step:
- define priority type ZQ
- define only 1 priority for the priority type ZQ;
- assign priority types ZQ to Notification Type ZM.
When I create a service notification ZM the system shows me the "Priority filed" empty; if I press match code the system display a list where I can see two rows:
1. the first row is the priority defined for the priority type ZQ;
2. a second blank row.
I would like set the system in order to:
- create a service notification ZM and the system should insert automatically the priority defined in the priority type ZQ;
- delete the second blank row: in the match code I would like do not display the blank row.
Could please someone give me some suggestions ?

You have to assign transaction category BUS2000126 (business activity) to your service request transaction, and there (at customizing header) define the default priority to your service request.

Windows 8.1 Starting Virtual Switch Manager from VMM crashes VMM service

Started happening after tried to add external switch using WiFi.
Now, VSM shows 'Load Failed' for the switch. Immediately after stating s/w manager VMM service crashes. I am unable to add a new virtual switch.
Any help will be appreciated.

If it is only happen to creating external virtual switch bounding it to Wireless NIＣ, I would suggest you to delete all virtual switch then uninstall hyper-v role and update the driver for wireless NIC then install hyper-v again to check the result .
(By the way , in most of the cases external virtual switch bounding to wireless NIC will not work well as bounding it to wired NIC )
I would suggest you do not create external virtual switch bounding to wireless NIC .

How do I update my VMM 2012 SP1 Guest Services to be the same as the Hosts?

VMM 2012 SP1 and Server 2012 Hyper-V Cluster
How do I update my VMM Guest Services to be the same as the Hosts?
In VMM 2012 SP1 I right click on a VM and select “Install Virtual Guest Services” it installs as expected.
Cluster validation reports this error:
The following virtual machines are running integration services that does not match the host computer. You must update the
integration services on the virtual machines or the host computer to the same version.
I am able to go to the VM on host and update the Guest Services using the hyper-v manager but I would like it to work in VMM.
The version on the ISOs on the host is. 6.2.9200.16433 and the version being installed by VMM is 6.2.9200.16383.
I am not sure where VMM gets the it’s guests services from.
Any idea on how I update VMM to match the host?

I know right - I am really trying to be positive about this 'great stuff' that MS have brought us, but really - Going back to the Hosts to do each vm individually??? And saying you can do it in Powershell.....
I loved the days of DOS, I still use the concepts of it, but I thought we had (or that we were) evolving!!!!!
