Set value between 2 regions

I have a page with 2 regions
in one region i have a normal html and one item of type select list displaying deptname return deptno
in another region tabular form with addrow/delete etc buttons
when i change the selectlist
and click on addrow i want to get the deptno in my emp tabular form with the selected ename.
how can I accomplish this please advice.
I tried with Dynamic Action set value but not able to see the emp tabular form region.
thanks very much in advance.

As Jerry said,
There are a number of ways to code your solution. If it weren't for the 1,0 to 1,5 range being non-symmetrical, unlike the others, you could simply use the ROUND function.
Here's another way that gives the same results, and makes the formula more flexible regarding the range of allowed values. The cell and column references are to the same cells as in Jerry's example. The only cells used on Table 1 are the ones containing the two ends of the allowable range of values.
=IF(ISBLANK(A), "",IF(A<=Table 1 :: $A$2, "Under", IF(A>Table 1 :: $A$6, "Over",ROUND(A-0.005,0))))
The -0.005 'fudge factor' in the ROUND expression is required to force values of 1.5, 2.5 3.5 and 4.5 to round down rather than follow the convention (used by Numbers) of rounding these values up.

• Setting custom table attribute set value in region item table

Dear all
I am working on oracle application customization and extension in
oracle JDeveloper R12. I am finding a difficulty in an query region of
a OA framework page
My Entity object is on the table FWK_TBX_ADDRESS table
and VO objects has the fields or columns
AddressName, AddreessId, TownC-OrCity
what I am doing shown in the following steps
1-I select region using wizard option
2-select my AM and VO
3-select table as style
4-shuttle all attributes associated with VO
5-in region items table , select the Attribute set field for AddressName attribute and click the serach flashligh icon
6-After that select the browse button , using the package browser , expand down to oracle > apps > fnd> framwork > toolbox > attributesets, then oK
7-select the serach control , and then it list all the attributes set related to fwkTbxEmployees table like the following
/oracle/apps/fnd/framewok/toolbox/attributesset/FwkTbxAddress/AddressName
Now the problem which I am facing now is that if I have custom table suppose "xxEmployees" and have attributes or column
for example employeeId, employee_name, email etc. what would I do to search these attributes when I come to step number 6 which
I mentioned above. from where in which package I can find these attributes to set attributesset value. in above i find these attributes
in /oracle/apps/fnd/framewok/toolbox/attributesset/FwkTbxAddress/AddressName
but in my case for attribute lie employeeId or employee_name from where I can get this how can I set the value of attribute set field in regin item
table in step 5
Noman

I dont know what u trying to ask
My problem is just that I want to set the attribute set value of my attribute employee_name, same is AddressId in fwk_tbx_address
ame is AddressId in fwk_tbx_address found on
/oracle/apps/fnd/framewok/toolbox/attributesset/FwkTbxAddress/AddressName
where can I find my attribute employee_name

• Setting space between regions

Hi there, i am having trouble controlling the spacing between regions and wondered if anyone had come across this problem. Across the width of the screen i have 5 regions the widths are as follows:
%, 350, 190, 220, %
The regions set as % at the edges of the screen are used to pad out the rest of the screen and centre the content in the middle of the screen. The region of 190 is set to contain a portlet whereas the others are all set to hold items. The problems seem to be in the spacing between the content regions. The three content holding regions are supposed to add to 760 pixels in total, but there always seems to be big gaps between them especially the region of 350 pixels which holds an image and the 190 pixel region which holds an HTML portlet.
Is there any way to control the spacing between regions (ideally set it to 0). I have already checked all the region properties and both the space between items and around items is set to 0.
Any ideas as i am really struggling.
Thanks in advance.

Hi Paul
I think your problem comes from your mix of % and pixel wide regions. HTML does not like tables with rows defined like this, either use only %, or either fixes sizes.
There are possible workarounds :
- to center your "main" regions, try to set 99% width in the 2 edge regions
- try 49% - 1% - 1% - 1% - 49%, and put invisbile images of the wanted width in the main regions (transparents gifs, 350px width, 1 high). Images won't be shrunk.

• SQL Query (updateable report) Region - Conditionally Hide and Set Values

SQL Query (updateable report) Region - Conditionally Hide and Set Values
Outline of requirement :-
Master / Detail page with Detail updated on same page using SQL Query (updateable report).
The detail region has the following source
SELECT item_id,
contract_id,
CASE WHEN hardware_id IS NOT NULL THEN
'HA'
WHEN backup_dev_id IS NOT NULL THEN
'BD'
WHEN hardware_os_id IS NOT NULL THEN
'HS'
END item_type,
hardware_id,
backup_dev_id,
hardware_os_id
FROM   "#OWNER#".support_items
WHERE contract_id = :P26_CONTRACT_IDThe table support_items implements arced relationships and has the following columns
CREATE TABLE SUPPORT_ITEMS
ITEM_ID         NUMBER                        NOT NULL,
CONTRACT_ID     NUMBER                        NOT NULL,
HARDWARE_ID     NUMBER,
BACKUP_DEV_ID   NUMBER,
HARDWARE_OS_ID  NUMBER
)A check type constaint on support_items ensures that only one of the fk's is present.
(    hardware_id    IS NOT NULL
AND backup_dev_id  IS NULL
AND hardware_os_id IS NULL
OR    (    hardware_id    IS NULL
AND backup_dev_id  IS NOT NULL
AND hardware_os_id IS NULL
OR    (    hardware_id    IS NULL
AND backup_dev_id  IS NULL
AND hardware_os_id IS NOT NULL
)    Hardware_Id is a FK to Hardware_Assets
Backup_dev_id is a FK to Backup_Devices
Hardware_os_id is a FK to Hardware_op_systems
The Tabular Form Element based on item_type column of SQL query is Displayed As Select List (based on LOV) referencing a named list of values which have the following properties
Display Value     Return Value
Hardware Asset    HA
Backup Device     BD
Computer System HSThe Tabular Form Elements for the report attributes for hardware_id, backup_dev_id and hardware_os_id are all Displayed As Select List (Based on LOV).
What I want to do is only display the Select List for the FK depending on the value of the Select List on Item Type, e.g.
Item_Type is 'HA' then display Select List for hardware_id, do not display and set to NULL the Select Lists for backup_dev_id and hardware_os_id.
Item_Type is 'BB' then display Select List for backup_dev_id, do not display and set to NULL the Select Lists for hardware_id and hardware_os_id.
Item_Type is 'HS' then display Select List for hardware_os_id, do not display and set to NULL the Select Lists backup_dev_id and hardware_id.
There are properties on elements to conditionally display it but how do we reference the values of the SQL query Updateable region? they are not given a page item name?
Also on the Tabular For Elements there is an Edit tick against a report item - however when you go to the Column Attributes there is not a property with which you can control the Edit setting.
What's the best way of implementing this requirement in APEX 3.1?
Thanks.

Welcome to the forum: please read the FAQ and forum sticky threads (if you haven't done so already), and update your profile with a real handle instead of "user13515136".
When you have a problem you'll get a faster, more effective response by including as much relevant information as possible upfront. This should include:

Full APEX version

Full DB/version/edition/host OS

Web server architecture (EPG, OHS or APEX listener/host OS)

Browser(s) and version(s) used

Theme

Template(s)

Region/item type(s) (making particular distinction as to whether a "report" is a standard report, an interactive report, or in fact an "updateable report" (i.e. a tabular form)
With APEX we're also fortunate to have a great resource in apex.oracle.com where we can reproduce and share problems. Reproducing things there is the best way to troubleshoot most issues, especially those relating to layout and visual formatting. If you expect a detailed answer then it's appropriate for you to take on a significant part of the effort by getting as far as possible with an example of the problem on apex.oracle.com before asking for assistance with specific issues, which we can then see at first hand.
I have a multi-row region that displays values and allows entries in a number of fields.Provide exact details of how this has been implemented. (An example on apex.oracle.com is always a good way to do this.)
I should like the fields to be conditional in that they do not permit entry, but still display, if certain conditions apply (e.g. older rows greyed out). Can this be done? Almost anything can be done, often in multiple ways. Which are appropriate may be dependent on a particular implementation, the skills available to implement it, and the effort you're willing to expend on it. Hence it's necessary to provide full details of what you've done so far...

• Pass values between pages

Hello experts!
I am trying to pass value between two pages without page submit.
I set item value from first page to session state by dynamic action. Then I am trying to pass this value to second page, I use button which redirects to second page and sets item value on second page with value from first page.
But approach this does not woks as I expected. The value from the first page is not passed to the second page when I click on button. Value is passed to the second page only if I:
1. set some value to item on first page (e.g. XX);
2. click on button which redirects to the second page;
3. get back to first page;
4. set some new value to the item (e.g. YY);
5. click on button;
6. then the first value from session state is passed to sthe econd page (value XX)

When the execution is done in development environment, the modules function at the level of R3, the "get parameter id" works only if the debbuger is classic, otherwise not work. The Import to memory id never works.
In the environment of quality, r3 do not work any of the 2 sentences. If run from portal (which is as it should be) does not work.
Thanks if anyone can help me get the problem. Both function modules are executed at the portal.

When the execution is directly in r3, in development environment or quality, does the set / get parameter id. Export / Import memory id not work.
But if the FM are called from the portal, does not the set / get parameter id.
I tried changing the sentence as I indicated harishkumar.dy still not working.

Hey BSK,
There are 2 ways to write data references, one more formal
than the other.
Short: {nodename}
Formal: {dsname::nodename}
The formal version will always work.
The short version works when there is only one data set on
the region or, WHEN IT IS LISTED FIRST.
If you have a region with multiple datasets, data references
that come from the data set that is NOT first must use the formal
notation. This assures that we can distinguish between the data
sets, in case of duplicate node names.
So, for those data refs that come from emailData06, make them
{emailData06::nodename}
Make sense?
Thanks,
Don

• Cascading LOVs (APEX 4.1) problem, using in report does not set values

Hi,
i am using APEX 4.1.0.00.32 and i have a simple report as
SQL:*
SELECT * from region
WHERE region like '%'||P3_REGION||'%'
and country like '%'||P3_COUNTRY||'%'
and city like '%'||P3_CITY||'%'
Items:*
P3_REGION:
select distinct region as d, region as r from region
Display Null value: YES
Null display value: - select -
Null return value: +0+
P3_COUNTRY:
select distinct country as d, country as r from region where region = :P3_REGION
Display Null value: YES
Null display value: - select -
Null return value: +0+
Cascading LOV Parent Item(s): P3_REGION
P3_CITY:
+select distinct city as d, city as r from region where country = :P3_COUNTRY
Display Null value: YES
Null display value: - select -
Null return value: +0+
Cascading LOV Parent Item(s): P3_COUNTRY
The LOVs work fine and the correct values are displayed if cascading through them
So in the last step i want to filter the report with the values that were selected in the lovs. And this i get not working.
I tried to add a button with SUBMIT of the page. After choosing values in all LOVs and clicking the SUBMIT button the page submits, alle LOVs are cleared (with value - select -) and the report shows all rows.
I tried to change the button to "redirect to Page 3" and setting the values P3_REGION, P3_COUNTRY, P3_CITY to &P3_REGION., &P3_COUNTRY., &P3_CITY. but without success.
I tried to use the setting "Page Action when Value Changed" to "Submit" and/or "Redirect and set value" for all Item LOVs and/or only the last item LOV, but then the cascade of the LOVs does not work properly and the report does not change too.
I am confused as i don´t know what i can do until now. I think this should be an easy requirement to limit/filter the report with values in the LOVs.
Furthermore it should be possible to choose only the region LOV and then limit the report with that region (without choosing country and city)
Thanks in advance!

Hi Dan,
thank you for your answer. I have the solution now from Kleber_M, this works.
Dan McGhan wrote:
1. Use bind variables in my query. It would look something like:
SELECT *
FROM region
WHERE region LIKE '%'|| :P3_REGION ||'%'
AND country LIKE '%'|| :P3_COUNTRY ||'%'
AND city LIKE '%'|| :P3_CITY ||'%'
This was only a mistake when writing the post, i forgot the colon. I use bind variables of course.
2. Make sure you have a comma separated list of item names that the report depends on beneath the SQL Query where it says Page Items to Submit. This will make sure that the value of those items on the page are bound into session state prior to the query executing.I tried this, too, but without success...
3. Use Dynamic Actions to perform the refresh action when any of the three items changes. This would be both more performant and a better experience for the end user than a full page refresh.How can i do this. This sounds good, because when refreshing the page often some items oder actions are done that i don´t want to.

• How to make dynamic actions using Set Value work in all browsers?

I’m having a cross-browser incompatibility issue with dynamic actions using Set Value. The dynamic action works like a charm on Chrome but has no effect on either IE or Firefox. The code in oracle.apex.com and here are the credentials:
Workspace: DDBA
Username: [email protected]
Password: redtruck12
These code is on page 3 and here are the details:
There are two report lists (Standard and Special) and some of the reports require additional information supplied in either select lists or text boxes.
If the user selects a Standard report requiring a select list/text box, then the dynamic action sets the value of Special Reports to NULL (and vice-versa).
The dynamic action is to prevent a simultaneous selection of both the Standard and Special reports. To see how it works on Chrome, do this:
Run Page 3
Select the ‘Report for Search Criteria’ option from the Standard Report list. A ‘Search Criteria’ text box appears
Select the ‘Report by Release’ option from the Special Reports list. A select list appears and the ‘Search Criteria’ text box disappears.
If you do the same things on IE or Firefox, the text box does not disappear.

Hi,
Things are going wrong with setting the item values to NULL. If you check your session state, you'll see that in chrome your items values indeed will be set to null, but in firefox they won't.
Also I've noticed that you don't reset the other input fields, so their values persist in the session state. Since you submit your page every time you change one of the report select lists, this might lead to unexpected behaviour. Lastly, I've noticed you use a sql exists expression to manage the display/hide of your page items. A condition of type "Value of expression 1 = expression 2" causes less overhead as you don't need to switch to the db sql engine for every item to validate.
I'd suggest you rethink your specs and try to create:
- One dynamic action (since a value of standard select excludes the value of special select, and vice versa)
- Set the values for hidden items to null, also in session state
- Use a refresh of region as extra event in your dynamic action, instead of submitting your page for every change.

• Passing values between methods in the same class

Hi,
How to pass internal tables or values between methods in the same class.
How to check if the internal method in another method is initial or not.
How to see if the method has already been executed.
Thanks.

Just declare the internal table as an attribute in the class - that way every method in this class has access to it.
Since any method has access to all class attributes you can easily check if the internal table is initial or not.
I am not aware of any standard functionality if a method has already been executed or not, one way would be to declare a class attribute for each method and set it once the method has been executed. That way every method in that class would know which method has already been executed or not.
Hope that helps,
Michael

• Passing values between action classes.

there are 2 jsps. main.jsp and detail.jsp In Main. jsp i only enter project description and submit to database and map the struts to call the detail .jsp which has to pick the project id(which is sequence generator) and display its description so I can add the other details of project.
Now the problem is as I submit the aciton the request goes out of scope and I am unable to get the project Id so I can't find the project desc to display in my details page.
i tried populating the form before I leave the save action which is called in first jsp. But I am still not able to get the value of project id. Below is my code
ProjectDetailForm form = (ProjectDetailForm) aform;
......save action is done...
form.setProjectId(projectNumber);
to make it clear project number is the number i wast assing to projectid and its sequence generator in datamap.
In display action where I want value so i can dispaly the project desc in Detail.jsp
ProjectDetailForm form= (ProjectDetailForm) aForm;
int projectNumber=form.getProjectId();
Please anybody let me where I am going wrong. Its kind of urgent.
Regards,
Infyniti.
One wya is querystring, which not preferred in our proj. Is there any susbstitution for querystring in struts.
Its kin of urgent.

I'm not entirely certain what you are doing, but heres a best guess:
If I understand you correctly you want to chain two actions
1 - save action - saves new record, and generates new unique id
2 - display action - displays the new record.
Seeing as you say "the request goes out of scope", I presume that means that your actionForward to go from the save action to the display action is a redirect?
Pro: a refresh won't save a duplicate new record
Con: you lose all request attributes/parameters.
So one request saves the record, and the redirect causes a new request to display the record. But you need to retain the record id between the two requests.
Setting it on the ActionForm should work providing:
- the same ProjectDetailForm used in both the "save" action and the "display" action?
- the form have a scope of "session"
- you don't have a "reset" method that would clear the value between calls
Are you able to post the struts-config for these two actions?
Given the constraints, the only other alternative I can think of is to put the id in a session attribute.
As an alternative, you could make it so that the save action forwards to display without a redirect, but that opens you up to a "refresh" saving a new record again. You could combat that by using struts synchronizer tokens. http://www.javaworld.com/javaworld/javatips/jw-javatip136.html

• Setting value in cookie using ABAP code

Hai All,
Is it possible to set value in a cookie using ABAP code.
Regards,
H.K.Hayath Basha.

Hai Thomas Jung,
In Enterprise portal SAP has standard functionality to set inactivity timeout. We can set whatever time we want, say for example if we set the time as 15 minutes. If the user is not interacting with the system for 15 minutes then portal will logout the user automatically without any information.
Our user wants a popup to be shown that the system will be logged out due to inactivity.
Since Portal logout the user automatically without any information. I want to put in my own framework to handle inactivity timeout.
What idea I have is, when ever user interacts with any function in portal. I will set current time in a cookie. Someother application will read this cookie at regular interval, if the time difference between the cookie and system is 15, then I will force the user to logout by showing a popup screen.
In our portal we have three different type of application, they are, Java Webdynpro, ABAP-Webdynpro and BSP.
I think that from Java Webdynpro and BSP we can call a javascript to set value in a cookie, from ABAP-Webdynpro I don't know how to set a value in cookie.
This is my business requirement. Is there anyother solution to fullfill this business requirement.
Thanks & Regards,
H.K.Hayath Basha.
Let me tell the business requirement. Our user want to give a popup message when

• Set value with XPath dynamically

Dear All,
I am wonder if the following is possiable with Set Value service using XPath, any *simple* workaround is also welcome too.
If I have a variable myXML =
<root>

1

2

</root>
I can reference to /root/item[1] by:
set /process/@myNum = 1
set /process/@dummy  = /process_data/myXml/root/item[number(\process\@myNum)]
But how can I access /root/item[@region="One"] ?
I tried the following but all failed:
1)
set /process/@myString = @region="One"
set /process/@dummy  = /process_data/myXml/root/item[string(\process\@myString)]
2)
set /process/@myString = One
set /process/@dummy  = /process_data/myXml/root/item[@region='string(\process\@myString)']
And are there any way to set a variable using template string? (i.e. You name is {$/process/@yourName$} )
Regards
Bill

Bill,
As the nature of dynamic xPath statements is very use-case dependant, there is not much in the way of documentation. However, I will forward this thread to the documentation team to see if there is anything that can be added in the future to make these types of questions covered in the docs.
As for setting a variable by using a template, there is no way to do this in setValue service unfortunately. However, you can use the executeScript service in LC ES. This service allows you to write java code and have access to the LC ES APIs while in context of your process. If you go to http://help.adobe.com/en_US/livecycle/9.0/workbenchHelp/help.htm and look under Creating Processes Using LiveCycle Workbench ES2 / Service Reference / Execute Script you will find documentation about how ot use this service.
http://help.adobe.com/en_US/livecycle/9.0/workbenchHelp/000580.html
There is a method called replacePathExpressions(String aString) that is exposed by the patExecContext object. this method takes in a template like you are looking to use. Basically a string that contains some xPath expressions wrapped in {$ $}. I created a sample process (attached to this post) that has a process variable called templateString. I used a setValue service to set it's value to:
"Your name is {$/process_data/@name$} and your address is {$/process_data/@address$}."
Of course, I also have variables called "name" and "address" that I have tagged as input variables. Then I have the executeScript service with the following code (basically 3 lines of code with alot of comments):
//Get the templateString process variable value.
String template = patExecContext.getProcessDataStringValue("/process_data/@templateString");
// Call the replacePathExpressions() method.
// It is a built-in method that will look for all {$ $} variable text and process each xPath expression and replace them in the text.
String result = patExecContext.replacePathExpressions(template);
// Now, the result string contains all of the resolved xPath statements.
// Let's set the process variable that will hold the result.
patExecContext.setProcessDataStringValue("/process_data/@resultString",result);
Now you can dynamically construct responses using template variables.
Also, thanks to Florentin Wandeler for the tip on the replacePathExpressions() method.

This solution works perfectly when the accumulated value has its low and its high on the same day. But I found out :( , that there is also data, which has its low yesterday and its high today. For a better understandig of the case, there is a machine, wich is working over 3 Shifts with irregular start and end time. For example Shift1 cann start at 5:50 or at 7:15. The accumulated value of the worked time is accumuated for each shift extra. This solution works for the shift 1 (approximate between 06:00-14:00) and for the shift 2(approximate between 14:00-22:00), because there is the low and the high of the accumulated value on the same day. This solution does not work for the shif 3(approximate between 22:00-06:00), because the high of the accumulated value is or can be the next day.
So the thread title should be: "Select just the values between min and max of an accumulated value over the same day(today) or over two successive days (yesterday and today)
