Word doc track changes in RH

i need help working out why all my track changes in a word
doc that i have uploaded to RH, show up!!!!
its a real mess. the changes have been accepted so the word
doc is clean but then they all show up in RH.
any ideas?

I don't want to revise the document after track changes. My point is; when I finished my track changes and sent the document off for the other person to see the changes I have made, they can't see any markings, just the revised text (that had been changed
via track changes) It automatically changes without anyone excepting any changes I have made.

  • Set Word 2013 Track Changes settings via Registry edits or Group Policy?

    Hi
Would anyone know if there is a way of changing Track Changes settings via registry edits or Group Policy (e.g. changing Simple Markup All Markup)? I've had a look in Group Policy Admin Templates and the Registry but cant see relevant
    Thanks!

    Hi,
The All Markup/Simple Markup selection is controlled by the RevModeShowSimpleMarkup value within the following registry key:
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\15.0\Word\Options
The value is 0 (zero) for All Markup or 1 (one) for Simple Markup.
If we close all Word instances, and change the value to 1, then start Word, the All Markup option should be selected.
In addition, some track change settings can also be controlled by the GPO settings in the following location:
Administrative Templates > Microsoft Word 2013 > Word Options > Track changes and compare
If you still need further assistance on this issue, please feel free to let me know.

  • Feature Request: support for Word's Track Changes feature

I love the iPad and Pages lets my wife and I use it to some extent for our jobs. However, the most useful feature for me in a document reader/creator would be the ability to track changes and have it be compatible with Word. I am a college professor, and I use this feature almost daily when grading student papers. If this were available on the iPad version of Pages, I could truly leave the laptop at home.

Why would it need to be compatible with Word? Why not use Pages' Track Changes feature and print the final version, with the comments and markup visible, to PDF? This is what I do. And it works just fine. I get a student once in a while who doesn't have Adobe Reader installed, but I have a FAQ item for that in the online course shell.

  • Copy text from word without track changes

    Version: Word 14.0.6129.5000 32 bit
    OS: Win 7
    Hi -
We receive tons of word-documents to our newspaper, and many of these are copied and pasted into incopy. Some of the editors also use track changes in word heavily.
The ordinary ctrl+a ctrl+c ctrl-v copies track-changes-info. (This also apply if we copy to notepad etc.)
Is there an easy way to copy just the text without all the track chages-info, just the final text?
This is a big problem for us, and I haven't found a quick and easy solution on the web.
    Regards -
    Johannes
    (Sorry for bad english)

    Hi Hans,
I just retested this Copy/Paste of Tracked Changes and Comments under Word 2011 for the Mac and Word 2010 for the PC. The results vary.
Regarding the PC with 2010 version.
Regardless of the Show Tracking settings in the Source document, the tracked changes DO NOT transfer from the source Word document to the destination Word document.
Regardless of the Show Tracking setting in the Source document, comments ALWAYS carry over into the destination Word document.
In all cases, source document tracked changes ALWAYS transfer to Note documents.
Paste Unformatted DOES NOT eliminate the tracked changes and comments when pasting to a Word destination document
Regarding Word 2011 on the Mac
Regardless of the Show Tracking settings in the source document, the tracked changes DO NOT transfer from the source Word document to the destination Word document.
Regardless of the Show Tracking setting in the Source document, comments ALWAYS carry over to the destination Word document.
In all cases, source document tracked changes DO NOT transfer to Text (txt) documents.
Paste Unformatted ALWAYS eliminates the tracked changes and comments when pasted into the destination Word document.
On both versions the default settings for Smart Copy/Paste and Cut, Copy, Paste we in effect. All test files where xml formats. (docx)

  • Word Documents Tracked Changes

    Hi guys,
i just got my ipad. Is there any way to see tracked changes in word documents?
Its seems like documents to go can do this? Just wondering if any one is able to validate this.

Update. From the MacWorld Pages review:
"One extremely important note here: if you receive Word or Pages documents that contain tracked changes or comments, you’ll need to avoid Pages for iPad. Imported documents lose all comments and Pages for iPad automatically accepts any tracked changes. For me, this is a problem I can’t work around."
So as of this date, no. Maybe in a future release.

  • Word 2013 Track Changes Not Showing New Author Changes

The .doc file has multiple comments, deletions and changes (all showing in bubbles) but when the author makes any new changes, the bubble fails to appear and the text remains in blue. If the same author deletes the text moments later in the same session,
with or without save, the bubble appears saying that the author made a deletion. There are also a few occurrences of past changes having a redline without the bubble. All files are local to a machine added to a domain with a domain user. I am unsure of the
Word version that created the file as it was emailed from another company. I've tried copying and pasting to a new format/same format and saving into a new format (.docx.) Any ideas?
    Thanks,
    Cory

Our office has been struggling with a related problem that maybe you can solve. Basically, the same person is repeatedly given a different reviewer name as they work in a document (presumably every time the document is autosaved). For example, if I work
for an hour adding edits or comments on a document by the time I'm ready to share it it will look like five different people made changes.
The Inspect Document fix works great to remove all the extra reviewer names, but it changes them all to 'Author'. Do you know how to then either a) change 'Author' to the reviewer's actual name or b) stop Office from assigning multiple names to the same
reviewer. Also, we've tried checking 'Always use these values regardless of sign in' under General to no avail.
Thanks - your fix is the closest we've come to a solution and it's greatly appreciated.

  • Font changes when i try to create a pdf from a word doc

I am trying to create a pdf from a word doc. I have tried multiple times and each time i do the font i used in the word doc gets changed on the pdf

This seems to be a common problem... this is not the first time I have seen this. Unless it is a general system font, such as Arial, then it seems not to convert too well.
So, if it doesn't matter what font, then just change the font.
Hopefully, Adobe fixes this in the next year. xD
    Good luck

  • MacBook Air + Microsoft Word + Track Changes = nightmare

I work part-time as an editor.  I use Microsoft Word on my MacBook Air and while I love my Mac for a million other things, it absolutely ***** when it comes to using Microsoft Word in Track Changes mode.  After just a little editing, the program crashes.  It's constant, it's regular, and it's a total nightmare.  How can I best get around this problem without having to use a PC to do my editing?

I'd recommend reinstalling Office, then. I use Word of Mac '11 (same version) without any issues working with track changes. I will say that it can sometimes be a bit sluggish (the application) as the document ages and the amount of changes that occur but never once has the application locked up entirely, crashed or quit on me.

  • Comparing documents with Track Changes on

    We're currently using Acrobat Pro 8.1.6 with Word 2003 (11.8307.8221) SP3.
We create PDFs with Track Changes on (showing).
We're testing and will soon be implementing Acrobat 9.1.3
    Here's the issue:
We have a large number (10,000+ documents) created in Word, with Track Changes showing.
We create a PDF using Acrobat 8.1.6.
As long as we continue using Acrobat 8.1.6 we can compare documents with Track Changes on.
However, now we're moving to Acrobat 9.1.3.
We can open these existing documents, and edit them (delete pages, add comments, etc.) but when we try to compare an 8.1.6 file that has Track Changes on, we're getting an error message:
"These dots conform to PDF/A standards and do not allow editing. Please modify PDF/A secumenttings to allow editing and try again."
In Word, our Adobe PDF settings DO NOT HAVE "Create PDF/A-1a:2005 compliant file" checked (for kicks we tried it with this option on and off...same results). We have also DISABLED "Enable Accessibility and Reflow with tagged Adobe PDF."
This is only an issue taking 8.1.6 files into 9.1.3. If we create a PDF in 9.1.3 with Track Changes on, we have no problems. It appears to be a disconnect with 8.1.6 and 9.1.3.
I've gone through the forums and the web, and cannot find this issue anywhere else.
I can also recreate the issue at will.
Anyone out there have any ideas? We can't recreate the old 8.1.6 PDFs in 9.1.3...too many files, too little time, too much trouble.
    Thank you!

Open the old pdf in Pro 3.? using file open.  Under "Advanced" select "Preflight", under "PDF/A compliance" select "Remove PDF/A information" and save the pdf.  We had to do this to both old and new pdf's before we could compare without the mentioned error.  It sucks though, having to convert the documents and save them before compare.  Hope this helps!

  • Need to change name on Track Changes

I purchased this MAC all-in-one from my nephew, and although he has deleted his name as the owner, his last name keeps showing up as the person who makes suggestions in Track Changes.  I need to eliminate him and add my name, but I can't figure out how to do it.  Help?

If you're asking about Microsoft Word's "Track Changes" feature, you'll need to change Word's preferences. Look under Preferences > User Information.

  • Can Acrobat XI Pro track changes?

I need to edit a PDF file for a client. I'm about to order the Acrobat XI Pro, but I'm wondering if there is a tool/option similar to MS Word's "Track Changes" so that my work will be visible to the client.

No. Acrobat is not a text editor and has no such features as "Track
    Changes".
You could run a Document Compare on both files, though. It will generate a
summary of the differences between the before and after versions...

  • Exporting Track Changes to Word no longer works

Just like it says in the subject line: It used to be that I could get a Word doc with Track Changes on and comments from my editor, do my own changes/add comments, then export it as a Word doc no problem. Now Pages either refuses to export the document or mangles it when exporting, causing certain changes to be automatically accepted or declined.
I was hoping that today's iCloud update for iWork would have this little bug fix in it, but no luck. Has anyone else encountered this and does anyone have any suggestions for how to fix it?
    Thanks!

I think your problem could be a simple one of corrupt preferences. I think Yvan's script removes them, but maybe not. When something that used to work stops doing so, the most likely culprit is corrupt preferences. Go to HD > Users > (your account) > Library > Preferences, delete the com.apple.iwork.pages.plist file & then restart Pages. In Finder, hold down the Option key while clicking on the Go menu & your user Library will appear about halfway down the list.

  • Quick Office for Word docs with tracking

Can I use Quick Office for iPad to view Word docs and see the tracking changes? I don't think so, but thought I'd ask. I did a search and didn't see this posted but I could have missed it. If I did, apologies for the redundancy.

From what I've read on here, none of the Office apps are able to track changes.

  • How can I export comments and tracked changes from Pages to Word?

I just purchased Pages and tried to export a couple pages of my document to Microsoft Word so I could send them for review to a client who does not have Pages; however, when I copy-pasted into Word, none of the comments or tracked changes showed up in the doc., only the finished product. I've tried updating my software, but that hasn't worked. Is there a way to fix this?

Here is what the Pages User Guide says:
" Exporting Pages Documents to Other File Formats
If you want to share your Pages documents with those who aren’t using the latest version of Pages, you can export your document to file formats that they may be able to use on their computers or other devices:
    • PDF: You can view PDF files in iBooks, and view or print them in Preview and Safari. You can edit them with a PDF application. Fonts used in the Pages document are preserved in the PDF file.
Hyperlinks in your Pages document are exported to the PDF file. Hyperlinks are also created in the PDF file for table of contents entries, footnotes and endnotes, webpages, email addresses, and bookmarks.
    • Microsoft Word: You can open and edit Microsoft Word files in Microsoft Word on a computer running Mac OS X or Windows.
Because of text layout differences between Microsoft Word and Pages, an exported Word document may contain a different number of pages than its Pages counterpart. You may notice other differences, as well, for example, table layouts and some special typographic features may not be identical. Some graphics (particularly those using transparency) may not display as well. Charts created in Pages appear as MS Graph objects, which you can edit in Microsoft Word.
    • RTF: You can open and edit RTF files in many different word processors. RTF files retain most of the text formatting and graphics.
    • Plain text: You can open and edit plain text files in many text editing applications, such as TextEdit. Exporting to plain text removes all document and text formatting, and images aren’t exported. ePub: You can open ePub files for reading in the iBooks application on an iPad, iPhone, or iPod touch, or in any ePub file reader. After you export your document to ePub format, you must transfer it to your device to read it in iBooks. To learn more about optimizing a document for ePub format, exporting it, and transferring it to your device, see “Creating an ePub Document to Read in iBooks” on page 257.
If your Pages document is password-protected, the password-protection is removed from the new file that's created upon export. However, if you export to the PDF file format, you can apply a new password at the time of export. "

  • Word blacks out text; possibly related to Track Changes feature

(also posted to Microsoft Answers forum, but I suspect that this is going to need Pro assistance!)
I was editing a 150+ page document in Word 2007 (on Windows 7 PC with all updates applied). I'd already been working with the document for several hours when suddenly large chunks of the document were blacked out. Paging up or down eliminated the problem
    momentarily, but further edits caused it to happen over and over again. Some squiggly underlines show through the black, but little else. We realized that it was happening when I had Track Changes on and displayed the changes in balloons rather than inline;
when I moved the mouse into the area where the balloons were displayed, that's when the text was blacked out.
We figured that the document was corrupted. However, this is also happening now with another document that's much shorter and far cleaner than the first one. The problem also occurs on PCs other than mine. I opened a clean template, pasted the
unformatted text from the source document into the clean template, and the problem persists in the new doc, so I don't think it's a problem with the documents -- or at least not solely.
We tried this on a newer PC with a ramped-up video card and got the same results. It has not happened (near as we can tell) with Track Changes turned off, but I must track the changes I make so working with TC off isn't an option.
Before anyone asks, I cannot provide a copy of any of the documents because they are strictly confidential.
    TIA!

    Hi,
I have tried in my Word 2007 with Track Changes and I cannot reproduce the issue.
Since you also tried in other files and PCs, so try to open the file in safe mode to check the issue.
