Setting a range based on a value of a cell

what i am trying to do is add a range of cells in a column ending with the current row and beginning with a variable number of previous rows.
in english
the beginning row = (the current row - the value of a cell in the previous column in the current row).
if column to be totaled = B, current row = 6, the value in A6 = 3
the range would be = B(6 - 3) or B3:B6 in other words =SUM(B3:B6)
How do i get there?

As I understand this problem, you have a series of numbers in column B and you want to add the last n items (number shown in column A of current row) to the current row. In column C of the current row place the formula:
=ADDRESS(ROW()-A7+1,2)&":B"&ROW()
then in column D your result: =IF(ISBLANK(C),"",SUM(INDIRECT(C)))

Hi Tom,
Your LOOKUP formula will return a value that it finds in the "other" table. That value can be used in conditional highlighting rules. (Numbers 3 calls it conditional highlighting, not conditional formatting. Just to keep us awake, I guess, but it works the same).

There Numbers User Guide, http://support.apple.com/en_US/manuals/#iwork, will show you how to do that. Also, doing a search in these forums will provide many hits answering your question.
Click in the cell you want the color to change: click Format > Create custom cell format, in the first dropdown in that dialog box click Choose Rule, then follow the prompts.

How to search a maximum in range (determined by a value in another cell)?

I'm trying to find the maximum and minimum in a range of cells.
I've determined the start cell and end cell in Table 1 for each search range, but I can't get it to fit in a formula.
TABLE 1

I can get Numbers to display the cell to start in the range,
=ADDRESS(A2,2,,,"Table 1")
results in "$A$1"
but apparently, you can't include that function in a range
=MAX(ADDRESS(A2,2,,,"Table 1"):(ADDRESS(A3,2,,,"Log"))
So how do I get my MAX formula to include the range that the ADDRESS formula outlines?

in column MAX the formula is:
=MAX(OFFSET(Tableau 1 :: $A$1,$A,1,$B+1-$A))
in column MIN it is:
=MIN(OFFSET(Tableau 1 :: $A$1,$A,1,$B+1-$A))
in both case, OFFSET(Tableau 1 :: $A$1,$A,1,$B+1-$A)
is a range whose first cell is Tableau 1 :: $A$1+( $A rows) + (1 column) and which contain $B+1-$A cells in the scanned column.
for the row 2 this means 3+1-1 = 3 cells in the column starting in Tableau 1 :: B2
for the row 3 this means 7+1-4 = 4 cells in the column starting in Tableau 1 :: B5
I uses the absolute addressing so that it is easy to relocate the formula from C2 to C3 or even from C2 to D2 (just need to replace MAX by MIN).

Here is the situation. I have a list of names in one table. I then have a table of pictures of corresponding to each name. I then have a drop down list in a cell with each of the names in it. I would like to be able to click the drop down list, select a name, and then have the corresponding picture be displayed in a cell. How would I go about doing this?

Setting the Link Group Name in Deep Link based on the value of a column

Here is what I am trying to do:
I have a table with one visible column that has the following entries:
1. Create
2. Modify
3. Verify
4. Approve
5. View
If the user clicks on row 1 (Create) then the link group name should be "CreateEmployees" to create new employees
If the user clicks on row 3 (Verify) then the link group name should be "MaintainEmployees" for verification and so on.
(This is role based and each role will have access to one or more of the rows in the tabler)
It basically mimics a work-flow type of scenario.
I tried to modify the template and looked at the line:
action="$JHS.facesConfigGenerator.addItemGroupLinkTaskFlowCall((${JHS.Current.item})}" but got stuck there.
Is there a way to change "JSH.current.item" in the template to read the group link name from another column say by using #if statements.
One way I also tried was to introduce a column for each action such as CreateAction, VerifyAction etc which kind of agrees with your suggestion but the drawback is the need to modify the table if another task is required.

CAML Query to get specific item in folder based on dropdown value using Javascript client object model

I am using the Javascript Client object model.
I have a custom list and a custom document library.
Custom list contains 2 columns - dlName , dlValue
The document library contains 2 folders - "folder1" , "folder2" and contains some images.
The image name starts with the "dlValue" available in the custom list
I am using a visual webpart and using javascript client object model.
I am trying to achieve the below functionality:
1) Load a dropdown with the custom list.
2) set the image based on the value in dropdown.
I have achieved the first option, I have set the dropdown, but not sure how to query the folder and set the image.
Below is the code i have used so far:

Limit columns based on variable value

Gurus,
   My requirement;
   User will enter a value "A" in the variable and based on the value i need to limit
   the columns in the output. for example in the query designer i have 6 fields in
   Rows, in Free Chars i have the field with variable which user will enter. if the value
   entered is "A" only 4 fields should appear on the report else if value is "B" only
   the other 2 fields should appear.
   Is there a way accomplish this...please suggest

Are u using the Excel based Analyzer as your Front End?
If so you can run a small VBA (on event SAPBEXonrefresh) that will hide columns based on the value of the cell that displays the value of the variable that the user is setting.

Set a component visible based on a value of a LOV

I am using Jdeveloper 11.1.1.2 and ADFBC.
I have a panelFormLayout with some fields.
I have a LOV and I want to set the property visible of a field based on the value of the LOV.
For example: if LOV = First (value =1) field = visible, if LOV = Second (value =1) field = not visible
I have created a backing bean of the page with a method that return a boolean, but I don't know how to get the value of the LOV.
What have I to use? ADFUtils? JSFUtils?

Hi,
you have 2 options. For both options you need to set autosubmit=true on the LOV field and use the PartialTriggers property on the depedent fields to point to the ID of the LOV. Alo define a value change listener on the LOV field
Option 1: Create a managed bean reference for the LOV using its binding property. Then, call getValue on it to get the component value
Option 2: If the component is bound to ADF, you can read the value fom the ADF binding layer
Option 1 is good to use if for example the "immediate" property on the LOV is set to true so you avoid required field validation problems if the dependent fields have no value though must have one. In this case using a ValueChangeListener on the LOV can be used to read the values, and set the boolean values in the managed bean

Conditionally set page item based on value of another item

I have a form that is used to create/apply changes to records. There is an application item (APP_ITEM_PROFILE)
that is set on login which contains a value for the user's Profile ID. This Profile ID is used through out the
application for authorizations (conditionally present tabs, etc).
I've set a page item on the form equal to APP_ITEM_PROFILE so that the record is stamped
with that user's profile ID when they create a record. Users with different Profile IDs may later make changes to
the record but I want to keep the original Profile_ID on the record.
I am trying to populate the Profile ID conditionally in the form based on the existence of a
record ID. If there is no ID (a new record is being entered), then I want the
Profile ID to be that of the current user (APP_ITEM_PROFILE). If there is an ID (modification is
being made to an existing record), then I want the keep the Profile ID that was originally saved
with the record in MyTable.
I have this as the source for :P11_PROFILE_ID. The type is PL/SQL Expression or Function, Always, replacing... but it
is not working (page not found when page is run):

I found one of Scott's answers:

and modified the above code to:

Thanks. That is putting the value into the page item and session state but that value is not being saved when the record is created. I'm not sure why - here is part of the debug (the "Billing" table is the "MyTable" table in the previous posting). Any thoughts?

EHS: Set up Table-based Value assignment Error.

Hi all,
We are customizin Basic Data & Tools and when trying to set table based assignments (table TCG11_VAI; program RC1TCG11_02) we are getting no entries in the table. The message shown is always <i>"0 unchanged entries, 0 new entries, 0 entries deleted"</i> independant on the entry criteria
The problem is that we can create those entries manually but it will be endless
Has this happened to anyone before? Any idea?

We have just find the solution.
Just for your information the problem was that the IMG activity "Adopt
Standard Specification Database" was executed but not working properly
because no data can be copied from client 000. Then when executing "Set
Up table Based Value Assignment" no entries were made in the table. We
have just change the client, execute "Adopt Standard Specification
Database" and then "Set Up table Based Value Assignment" and now is
working properly

How to select a different value based on $FLEX$ Value set

am getting a column like position from positions_table....
now based on this value set am selecting another column from the same table like for ex amount...using $FLEX$.vlaueset_name
now if the value in the table is 0 or null I should make the field available for the user to enter something
as of now it is not letting me enter any data as this value is based on the first value set we defined..
is there a way to do that..

Using JavaScript to auto populate a field based on numeric value of a separate drop down field

Hello, I am trying to set up a simple, I hope, javascript which will enable to me auto populate one field based on the numberic value of another field using Acrobat Pro XI.
Essentially I have 2 drop down fields (we'll call them DD1 and DD2).
DD1 is the sum of 8 preceding drop down values. That sum can be anywhere from 0 - 40. Whatever that sum falls within a range which identifies a rating. The ratings and ranges are below:
0-8: Non-Performer
9-16: Low Performer
17-24: Performer
25-32: High Performer
33-40: Exceptional Performer
DD2 is where the rating ("non-performer", "low performer", etc.) will be captured. Instead of requiring the user to look at DD1, determine the value, and then identify and input the rating manually, I would like DD2 to auto populate the rating based on the value (sum) in DD1.
For example, if DD1 shows a value of 27 then DD2 would auto populate "High Performer". So how do I write this code or execute this? In excel I would use an if, then statement. Is there something similar in Acrobat Pro XI.
Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

Range based Flex field validation based on a Lookup table

I am trying to create a validation in one of the flex field under HRMS Application. Table: PAY_ELEMENT_ENTRIES_F
Validation is pretty simple - but i am struggling to implement.
Assume there exists two flex fields;
Field1 contains State Information
Field2 contains Percentage Information
The above two values would be entered by the user.
the validation should be like this.
Field1 - State code entered by User
Field2 - We have a seperate Lookup where we have setup lots of State specific information. Assume ATTRIBUTE3 and ATTRIBUTE4 defines the Min and Max range which would be configured during the Setup. User should be entering any percentage value between the ATTRIBUTE3 and ATTRIBUTE4.
I have created a Table Validaiton with select 1 from dual with the following where clause.

How do i validate a value of the flexfield against the range of values available in another table(in this case a lookup table) ?
Any ideas on how to implement this.

Thanks so much for the reply. apparently the solution which you have suggested may not work 100% as the data entry also happens via API. Its mentioned in the doc that the special validations happen only via Forms.
But I implemented it in a crude way. But it works though !!!!
Based on the value which i enter in the first Field1, the value set which i am using it in second Field2(its a table based value set)
I generated all possible percentages and displaying it.
My table is: (select trim(to_char(rownum/100,'990D99')) pct from fnd_columns a where rownum<=10000) a, fnd_common_lookups l
My Where clause:
where l.lookup_type='CUSTOM_US_STATE_RULES'
and l.attribute1=substr(:ENTRY.USER_ENTRY4,1,2)
and a.pct between l.attribute4 and l.attribute5
I generated the set of sequence numbers with the help of rownum from a table which definitely contains more than 10000 rows.
I was so glad that FND allowed me to use a INLINE view in the Validation Table not restricting the tables available for that application alone.

How do I access a value of a variable in SSIS and control the flow accordingly based on its value?

So I have a Foreach Loop Container that Enumerates a read Excel spreadsheet and this Foreach Loop get its User::SheetName. Can I change my flow accordingly based on the value of the User Variable User:SheetName that is dynamically valued by the Foreach Loop
Container? So if the User::SheetName is "Enrolled", I want to load that worksheet to a certain SQL Server Table using an Excel Source and OLE DB Destination and if the User::SheetName is "Engaged", I want to load its worksheet contents
to a different SQL Server Staging Table. What Task can I use to determine the value of User::SheetName or am I going to have to write a C# script to do this?
Any help and/or suggestions are GREATLY appreciated.

According to your description, you want to read data from excel by using the Foreach Loop container with the appropriate enumerator. If that is the case, please refer to the following steps:
Inside the ADO NET enumerator, add a data flow task.
Inside the data flow task, add an Excel source.
Open the Excel source, and point to the Excel data source set up in the file enumerator.
Select one of the sheets that shows in the drop down.
Close the Excel source.
Select the Excel source.
In the properties window, copy the name of the sheet you selected. It's in the 'OpenRowset' property.
Set this as the initial string in your sheet name variable created to gather the sheet name from the ADO NET enumerator.
Select the Excel source.
In the properties window, change the 'AccessMode' to OpenRowset from Variable. This will change the property 'OpenRowset' to 'OpenRowsetVariable'.
Change the 'OpenRowsetVariable' to the variable created to hold the sheet name via the dropdown.
Open the Excel source. You should see your variable as the sheet name.
Click the 'Columns' tab to verify you can connect and mess with columns.
