Setting filenames at OS level on Win32

I've done this many times on Unix using the .profile file. But today I need to do it on windows. I went to environment variables and entered
New Variable = DATAFILE1
Value = c:\data1.txt;
New Variable = DATAFILE2
Value = c:\data2.txt;
Then in my code
//Simple program that copies from one file to another
public class demo {
    public static void main(String[] args) throws IOException {
     //This works
     File inputFile = new File("c:\\data1.txt");
     File outputFile = new File("c:\\data2.txt");
     //DATAFILE1,DATAFILE2 Set in control panel to reference files above.
     //compiler: cannot find symbols DATAFILE1, DATAFILE2
     //File inputFile = new File(DATAFILE1);
     //File outputFile = new File(DATAFILE2);
        FileReader in = new FileReader(inputFile);
        FileWriter out = new FileWriter(outputFile);
        int c;
        while ((c = in.read()) != -1)
           out.write(c);
        in.close();
        out.close();
}Any ideas?

Can you try "java -version" at the console, as it looks like you are not.
Look, not depricated: System.getenv(java.lang.String)
Also
// throws NullPointerException
String str = System.getenv("DATAFILE");Does that return null, or throw a NPE? As throwing an NPE would suggest that you are passing null to it, returning null would suggest DATAFILE is dot defined, try
echo %DATAFILE%
or
echo $DATAFILEdepending on platform.

  • How to set at the server level to log transport request in SAP ME

    Hi:
    when I do configuration in SAP ME, can I set at the system level to log for transport request ?
    so I can  use transport request for other client or server.

    Hi!
    There is no "transport request" in SAP ME, however, there is Configuration Data Transfer Export/Import activity which can export the data to ZIP file at the source site and then import that file at the destination site.
    CDT activity can utilize CTS+ as a transport channel but I would suggest ZIP file instead because the file can be edited manually in case of any issue or if you want to remove some data.
    For details, please consult this How-To Guide.

  • Want to set a default zoom level for safari?  Here's how you do it.

    If you like to set a default zoom level for safari so you don't have to hit Ctrl+ (or Ctrl-) every time you start Safari and open a new tab, here's how you can do that. This should work on Safari for mac, too:
    1) create a file named defaultzoom.css (or any name you like, just make sure it has a css extension.)
    2) copy and paste in the following:
    body {
    zoom: 130%;
    change 130 to whatever number suits you. >100 means zoom in, <100 means zoom out. Don't forget the % percent sign!
    3) in safari, go to Preferences > Advanced. Under style sheet, select Other... and point to the file you created.
    4) you may need to restart safari for the change to take effect.
    Voila. Hope that helps someone.

    Yes you are right!
    This CSS zooming is a crude hack. I think it basically treats a web page like a pdf document where you just enlarges everything.
    When you zoom manually, safari does a smarter sort of zoom where it enlarges but tries to keep widths of the elements the same size, reflowing text where needed and scrolling only when necessary.
    If the web page has a fixed size that is smaller than your browser window, like this forum, css zoom works ok. But with a page like gmail, which has no width constraint, you get into trouble.
    Hmm, wait, I just checked out wiki, which also uses up all available screen real estate, but does NOT have this problem.
    Notice in gmail, even if you zoom way out below what should be 100%, the login is still off the screen. The font gets real small but the width of the page stays the same. The css zoom basically "sticks" and isn't completely reversible.
    Bottom line: you have to decide which is more annoying: having to hit Ctrl+ for every tab you open, or running into some problematic pages.
    On Windows, I use autohotkey (a kdb and mouse macro scripting program) to switch off the CSS on the fly when I need to. I think Mac has similar capability built in, right? If I were really clever, I guess I could program autohotkey to send a few ctrl+ whenever it detects a new window or tab in safari, but I'm not there yet.
    Bottom bottom line: Apple needs to add this feature. It's a pretty basic accessibility feature. Doesn't Apple have like an accessibility guru/advocate?

  • Changing OSX default volume setting to a higher level in sound preferences

    When I change the default volume setting to a higher level in sound preferences within OSX, it is back at the lower level at the next listening session the following time I use iTunes on my Mac Mini. Within System Preferences there is a section that lets you "choose a device for sound output" but the only choice I have is "line-out" and under the "port" heading there is only "built-in output"--no other choices are shown. I have external speakers attached which I like to use for listening to music as I work. What is the problem? Why won't the higher volume I set remain? Also, shouldn't more than one choice be shown for sound output?

    This sounds like the problem that I'm experiencing and <a href-"http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=2694517#2694517">aske d about a couple of days ago. The sound level resets to 50% after shutdown.
    I tried setting the levels in Audio MIDI Set Up as suggested above, but that hasn't changed anything.
    In answer to B_web, I am running my external speakers through the headphone jack.
    So, any other suggestions?

  • How to Set the Transaction Isolation Level in WebLogic?

    Is there a way to set the transaction isolation level in WebLogic 9.2 or WebLogic 10?
    For an example say, we have an application which is supported for several database platforms. Without setting the transaction isolation level in DBMS level, is there a way to specify this in WebLogic to make it common for all the DBMS type?
    And I found a way to change the transaction isolation level in WebSphere application server using a property called webSphereDefaultIsolationLevel.
    [url http://www-1.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?rs=180&uid=swg21224492]http://www-1.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?rs=180&uid=swg21224492
    Is there a way to do the same thing in WebLogic application server 9.2 or 10?

    Anuradha W wrote:
    That means, currently the only way tospecify the transaction level is through
    weblogic-ejb-jar.xml deployment descriptor?
    for WLS-generated code, yes.Somewhat related to this question, we have written a standalone testcase to reproduce this issue we have been having. Basically, the issue is that even though we configure the isolation level to a non-default one in the deployment descriptor, the connections returned by the datasource seem to be having the default (which is Read Committed). The DBMS is DB2.
    weblogic-ejb-jar.xml has the following set:
    <isolation-level>TransactionRepeatableRead</isolation-level>
    And we printed the isolation level of the connection returned from a method in the EJB, but the isolation level is still the default. I can share the code to reproduce the problem if you want to take a look at it. Please let me know how I can get that across to you.
    Thanks,
    AnuradhaIf you are using our JDBC driver for DB2, or can switch to it,
    just for a test, there is some debug I'd like from you.

  • Setting NI5641R ADC input level

    Hi,
    I am using a NI5641R board and I am programming it using the LabVIEW FPGA Module.
    How can I set the maximum input level of the ADCs?
    Concerning the DACs, there is a VI to set the maximum output level in the library that comes with the board.
    Isn't there anything equivalent for the ADCs?
    Thank you

    Probably, I have found the solution.
    I post it for those who are interested. Of course, comments are welcome.
    IQ rate at the output of the ADC (downconversion):
    - use "ni5640R ADC Configure NCO.vi" VI to configure the sampling frequency (e.g. sample frequency= 100 MHz);
    - use "ni5640R ADC Configure DDC.vi" VI to configure the decimation (e.g. decimation=4);
    - than, the resulting IQ rate is: sampling frequency/decimation (e.g. 100/4=25).
    IQ rate at the input of the DAC (upconversion):
    - use "ni5640R DAC Configure for Quadrature Mode.vi" VI to configure the CIC Interpolation Factor (remember that there is an addictional fixed interpolation factor of 4);
    - than, the resulting IQ rate is:: 200M/(4*CIC Interpolation Factor).

  • Setting the property "Cache Level" of the pcd object to "None".

    Hi all
    I have an EP 6.0 on NW04 SPS 17. I need to solve a problem and found note 960975. My question is, how could we change the setting the property "Cache Level" of the pcd object to "None"? Where should I go? Is it on the NWA, Visual Admin, Configtool or somewhere else?
    Many thanks before.

    Hi Agoes,
    By using the tool Support Desk -> Portal Content Directory -> PCD Administration you can do this. Please note that this tool should only be used in debugging situations.
    There is a new section "Release a Unit from the cache cluster wide" in this tool. With this new functionality, you can remove an object from the cache on all nodes in the cluster. If the object is still in use, it will be reread immediately from the database
    Releasing the entire PCD cache can severely affect performance. Hence, if there are inconsistencies suspected with a single object, e.g. a role or an iview, the new section "Release a Unit from the cache cluster wide" can be used to evict the given object from the cache on all nodes in the cluster.
    Cheers,

    You can look for / identify missing or corrupted Operating System files by running the System File Checker Utility.
    Type sfc /scannow in the Run window, and press Enter.

  • [ADF] Focus does not get set on a second level dialog/popup

    Hi,
    While working on a related bug, I've discovered that for every second level dialog/popup(a popup that is invoked from another popup), the focus does not get set to the second level dialog if the first component in that popup is an inputText, unless a user explicitly clicks on it. By focus I mean that on pressing tab, the fields on the previous popup still get selected/highlighted.
    This does not happen if the first UI Component is any other; everything else kept the same. I suspect this is an ADF bug; does anyone know of a workaround?
    Thanks,

    Hello,
    we are having the same issue using JDeveloper 11.1.1.4 and Internet Explorer 8.
    The code is really simple: just a regular popup with an inputListOfValues component inside. Open the popup, open the inputListOfValue's "Search and Select" popup and if you press the Esc key, the first one will be closed, while the "Search and select" popup will remain there.

  • Set filename for file download

    Hi
    i have a servlet that sends a file to the client to be downloaded. When the client requests the file the dowload dialogue pops asking if the user wants to download/open but the name of the file is always the servlet name were it originates. Is there any way to set the filename and extension in the servlet e.g ExampleResult1234.csv and send this to the client so that when the dialogue pops up it is set?
    Current Servlet Code:
    String output = "some data from database in csv format";
            response.setContentType("application/binary");
         response.getWriter().write(output);Thanks

  • FTP Adapter setting filename at runtime not working

  • Setting Transfer Mode & Transparency level in a text box

    I am writing a text file to import into a quickTime movie to create subtitles. I would like to set the transfer mode and the transparency level inside my text file. Is there a way to do this?

    It's not as easy with QuickTime version 7 as it was in previous versions so some trial and error export may be required:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/jarticle.html?artnum=42643-en
    Two of my many "movies" that use text tracks:
    http://homepage.mac.com/kkirkster/Lemon_Trees/
    http://homepage.mac.com/kkirkster/03war/
    Adjustments to the "text with descriptors" file can be set with the Movie Properties window of QuickTime Player Pro.
