Setting Transfer Mode & Transparency level in a text box

I am writing a text file to import into a quickTime movie to create subtitles. I would like to set the transfer mode and the transparency level inside my text file. Is there a way to do this?

It's not as easy with QuickTime version 7 as it was in previous versions so some trial and error export may be required:

Adjustments to the "text with descriptors" file can be set with the Movie Properties window of QuickTime Player Pro.

I figured it out. I added the following lines when building a script
set transfer mode of track "Track Name" of front document to blend
set transparency of track ""Track Name" of front document to 50

How to apply a semi-transparent background to a text box

Hi Framers,
The cover of my doc has a full-page .png file on a master page. I want to add the title of the manual on the body page of the cover in a text box. No problem. However, I want to apply a semi-transparent effect to the background of the text box, so the graphic behind it shows in a muted way.
I'm sure this has to do with some combination of the Tint, Fill, and Overprint settings but none of my experiments have produced anything close to the desired effect.
I did RTFM and also searched the Help and the forum. I truly hope I didn't overlook the answer---but if I did, it wasn't for lack of trying!

Wow, I wish I had Photoshop! I use a less sophisticated image editor, which has always served quite adequately and since it supports layers, I'll try to figure out how to do what you're suggesting.
(I did try a "None" fill and the bottom image does show up, but I wanted it a bit muted, as would happen with perhaps a "half transparency" and that is apparently what I can't achieve in FM.)
If I understand correctly, I need to edit the imported graphic to make a portion of it appear semi-transparent, and then when I bring it back into FM and put my text box on top of it, it will appear the same as if I had been able to put a partial transparency in the fill of the text box...
I really, really, really hate it when I find myself thinking "Word could do this easily, why can't Frame?"

Call TAC, they'll have you open a secure. support tunnel from your WSA, and they can dig into what's happening.
There isn't much you can actually do to the raid set.
You should also backup your configuration off of the box. Make sure to save it with the passwords unmasked, so if they have to send a replacement, you'll have something to restore.

How can I make a text box in Aperture transparent??

Hello,
After a great trip to Thailand I want to make a book of all my pictures using Aperture 3. At some places in the book I use a title to indicate what will be shown on the image. This title is made by the text box and it is put on the image itself. Now what I would like is to make is a transparent bar of the text box, so that I still can see the details of the image through this bar and also read the text about the image easily.
I have no problems making this text box and putting it in the right place, the thing that I don't understand, after two nights of trying, is how to make this text box transparent.
Any help is appreciated!

Perhaps I need to reformulate what I exactly want to do...!
I would like to use transparent text boxes but not as transparent as the image itself. I want to show the text box as a real bar but slightly different than the original image colour. So something between a normal image and a white bar so that it will be a bit transparent but also shown as a real bar..
I think the text boxes of each theme are identical, so yes you are right about the transparent text boxes of art collection but they are the same as photo essay.
Do you understand what I mean?

Drop shadow on text box - CS4

I'm trying to set up a drop shadow on a text box, but the shadow shows through the text. The effect I want is essentially a shadow on the right side of the box, and one at the bottom, not showing through the text. I'm attaching a screen shot.
Obviously I've got something set wrong, but I've played with the "transparency" settings and nothing changed.

Global Background Colour with individual Overide Text Boxes

Hi I am looking to apply a global background colour using the details properties.
However I have individual text boxes that have their own background colour based on expressions that I want to overide the global details properites.
So I set up the global one with this expression
IIF(Fields!Number_of_Defendants.Value = 1 ,"Yellow","Transparent")
for the individual text box I used a nested IIF
=IIF(Fields!Bill_Rate.Value = 115,"Red",IIF(Fields!Number_of_Defendants.Value = 1 ,"Yellow","Transparent"))
This works but I'm wondering if their is a easier way so I don't have to have the 2nd clause.

As per my understanding, I think the expression you post is simple way. If you don’t want to use IIF function, I suggest we can try to use switch function as below to achieve the similar requirement:
=Switch(Fields!Bill_Rate.Value = 115,"Red",Fields!Number_of_Defendants.Value = 1 ,"Yellow")

How to link a text box to an anchor frame in the master pages?

Ok, as the title states, we are trying to figure out if it is possible to link a text box to an anchor frame in the master page. When you look at our Master Page layout, we have a text box in the upper left hand corner of the left hand page, this is used for our machine serial numbers. Then we have an anchor frame that automatically fills out the figure number. Let's say I have pages 2 & 3 (left & right), they have a S/N at the top of the page for the machine, then pages 4 & 5 have a different S/N. If I have to add more pages in between pages 2 & 3 (bumping the current 4 & 5 to 6 & 7), the anchor frame bumps to the next page, but the S/N text box doesn't. Is there a way to fix it so that they both move to the next page? Thanks for the help.
P.S. I can include images and other info if needed.

I have included a two pictures that should help me explain.
Master Page:
This is the master page set up, the "Page Text Box" has the flow set to "B" while the S/N text box has the flow set to "A". This setup is for our parts manuals, the left page is usually an illustration while the right page is usually a parts list. The text box, anchored frame & paragraph tag are empty in the master page set up. The "page text box" has a flow of "B" and the "S/N text box" has a master flow of "A".
Body Page 1:
When we create new pages, the paragraph tag automatically fills in the figure title on the left page, then we add an anchor frame within the text box to hold the illustration. You will notice that I added in a "test" serial number at the top of the page. Now if I need to go back and add two pages before this, the anchor frame, illustration and parts list will move to a new page, but the S/N text box will not. The "Before S/N TBD" would stay on the original page.
This is what happens, the text box containing the illustration and the parts list "bump" to the next page, but the S/N text box does not. So the question we have is there a way to link that text box to the page so when we create new pages the S/N text box moves with the illustration.

How to retreive the value of a text box that is created dynamically

i am working on a project which requires creation of as many text boxes as the number records fetched from the database i.e, if the result set contains 3 records three text boxes must be created.

Create a counter and increment it every time when it comes to rs.next
Set ids for the text box with the value of the counter.
eg: textbox1 , textbox2
the 1 and 2 shld be created by the counte just append the count value to the string and set it as id of the new text box dinamically created.
then get the ement by id and get its value and do the process.

My Primay IDE channel Transfer mode is set to PIO mode...even if i try to change to DME if available its not changing....
I tried a option to run a VB script to change the DMA status but no luck..
Can anyone help me know if any option is available to change the DMA status

Sorry to interrupt this discussion but I feel it goes somehow in wrong direction.
If I understand you right you just want to install WXP on your Satellite A300. Am I right about that?
On this forum you can find, I believe, hundreds of threads with precise description how to do this.
What you need is WXP installations CD with integrated SATA driver.
Check please this page . There you can find nice description how to find SATA drivers. At the end you can also find link to guide for "Slipstreaming SATA driver into WinXp boot cd using nLite".
When the WXP is installed just continue with WXp driver installation. If your notebook is WXP supported you can find them on Toshiba download page.

How to set the file transfer mode to binary

I have a requirement to upload files from local machine to server, and it is working fine.
But after uploading files junk characters are entered after each line, so want to set the file transfer mode to binary to get rid from this error.
We have checked that if we ftp the files manually then also getting the same problem when the transfer mode is not selected as binary.

I have been using this 865pe neo2-p for a few weeks now and am looking in the bios to see what can be improved.
I had 32 bit transfer mode to off by def. and i set the to on , ? and in pnp the ide busmastering was disab. should I have it enab.?

Setting File transfer mode in SFTP using JSch (jsch-20070302.jar)

When I download or upload manually the files seems file, but when I use my code to download or upload there is some problem. How to set DMA/PIO/IRQ transfer mode?

For my thesis I need to compare the actual impact on data acquire using different transfer modes in CVI (DMA, PIO, IRQ).
Documentation says that I have to use the DAQmxSetAIDataXferMech( TaskHandle taskHandle, const char channel[ ], int32 mode) function, but function like this simply does not exist in my CVI (using CVI 2010, version 10.0.1 (419).
How am I supposed to switch between modes?

You can find this property using DAQmxSetChanAttribute.

Frome the attributes list choose Analog Input -> General Properties -> Advanced -> Data Transfer and Memory -> Data Transfer Mechanism

Bullets and Transparent text boxes

hello,
I've checked out the postings already for this issue and
appreciate Ricks tip on fixing the font blur issue. However, I have
another bug with bullets in transparent text boxes.
Upon preview or publish of a project, I see a ghost color (a
little lighter) of my background color which is light blue . So,
basically the text box is no longer transparent and looks really
bad.
Any ideas,

Hi Rick,
Let me describe what is happening a little more clearly. Here
is the basics so maybe you can reproduce it. I belive I did come up
with a fix for myself.
1) Add a background image to the slide that is merged not an
overlay image
- My image is a png file imported into the library and added
to every slide. It has a solid light blue background with a dark
blue strip on top and a brand from the client at the top left (very
basic)
2) Add a transparent text box caption
3) Add text that includes bullet points
Result: When you put a text caption with bullets over a slide
background that is an image(even solid color) you get a ghost that
oulines the text caption dimensions. If the text caption doesn't
have bullets, the ghost outline doesn't appear, but the text is
blurry. Obviously the text can be fixed by highlighting on
character in #C0C0C0.
My temporary fix: Because the ghost ouline seems to appear
when a text caption with bullets is on top of a background image, I
modifed my background image so that the light blue part (this is
the area when all the content will be) is actually transparent and
no longer a color. I then set color for all slides backgrounds to
be the light blue that was origninally in my image. This seems to
work, but there are some color fading issues that I need to explore
and work out more.
Thanks much and look forward to pushing the boundaries of
Captivate once I my head around it more.
P.S If I have a background image on each screen (branding and
consistent purposes), when I set up a simulation, do I have to
merge each screen shot into the background or can the screen shots
created by Captivate just overlay my background image.
