Setting HP53131 resolution in Labview

I am trying to use my HP53131A couter to read a 400Mhz signal with a precision of 1/10th of a Hz. the couter is capable of this but with Labview the precision seems to be set a 4 digits and I cannot reset this. I need 10 digits of resolution.
I am using the Drivers from the NI website to control the counter though GPIB.

I do not have an Agilent counter. Does the counter itself get set to 4 digits or the displayed value on the LV screen?
Many of the drivers do not implement every possible function of the instrument. You may have to modify the drivers to get what you want. For example the HP5313xA Read a measurement.vi converts the string received from the counter to a double and then displays it on an Extended indicator with 6 digits of precision???
Study the programming manual for the instrument. When you find the commands to set the resolution, send those to the instrument via simple VISA Write and Read functions and look at the returned strings. If the resolution you want is there, then you can look into modifying the existing drivers or writing your own.

  • How to set jpeg resolution when saving pdf file as jpeg

    Hi
I am running a stand-alone version of Framemaket 10.I try to convert a documentation with a lot of screenshots in it. Regardless of the settings on the Reference pages of the first document of the book, Framemaker converts all graphic files to *.gif, and these are downsized so much that they become illegible. I would like to have them converted to JPG, with little resolution loss, so they are still readable.
I think Robohelp is too expensive…

  • How can I set the resolution of my external display to 1280x800?

Hi, I'm using a Wacom Cintiq 12WX external pen tablet display with a 24" iMac.
The recommended resolution for this Cintiq is 1280x800. But when I go to System Preferences>Displays set the resolution of the display, the only available options for "Wacom Cintiq 12WX" are:
    640x480
    800x600
    832x624
    848x480
    1024x768
1024x768 is my nearest option, but it has a different proportion than the display's physical shape--resulting in a slightly stretched display. Because I work with graphic design, this is not exactly desirable...
None of the other resolutions have the same proportion as 1280x800, so a stretch seems inevitable; not even working with a smaller resolution will give me the desired ratio.
So my question is, is there any way to choose resolutions other than those listed in the "Display tab" of System Preferences?
I also noticed that I have the option to rotate the tablet screen 90 degrees; when I do this, the option 800x1280 becomes available, but of course it's sideways...
Any help at all would be very greatly appreciated!

    Thank you for your help.
I installed the update you suggested, but nothing has changed in my Cintiq 12WX Display menu in System Preferences.
    Which update ?
The OSX update or the driver update or both ?
Might be neccessary to reinstall the Wacom driver after the OSX update.
And I concur with Kenichi, if all things fail contact the Wacom Support.
That thing has to work as advertised.

  • Cannot  set display resolution after upgrading to Mavericks

I have early Mac Mini  connected to KVM stitch.  Over the weekend I upgraded to Mavericks and it "dowgraded" display resolution from 1920x1200 to 1600x1200 and everythign looks streached.  1920x1200  no longer shows on the list in display properties (1920x1440 shows but it does not look good on my screen). I googled Option key trick and hitting "Scaled" while hold Option key does show some additional resolutions, but not the one I used to have.
Connecting Mac directly to the monitor allowed me to set proper resolution and after removing monitor and pluging mac back into KVM things "held" untill Mac goes to sleep or until reboots.
I am aware that my KVM switch does not communicate EDID but things did work just fine before upgrade to Mavericks.

    Hello curtdav,
It sounds like you are getting a graphical anomoly when unplugging an external monitor. I recommend these troubleshooting steps from the article named:
Apple computers: Troubleshooting issues with video on internal or external displays
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1573
    Reset the system
You can reset the Mac's parameter RAM and SMC.
    Reset the resolution
Start by resetting the Mac's parameter RAM. If the display does not come up, was previously set to an unsupported resolution, and still results in no video:
    Start up in Safe Mode.
From the Apple () menu, choose System Preferences.
Choose Displays from the View menu to open the preferences pane.
Select any resolution and refresh rate that your display supports.
    Restart your computer.
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
    Take care,
    Sterling

  • Setting the resolution of a Pages document

I'd be very grateful if some kind soul could tell me how to set the resolution of a new document in Pages.
I want to use Pages to create an advert for inclusion in a magazine. They need artwork at 300dpi resolution and preferably in jpeg format. I've tried adding an image (300dpi) to a blank Pages document then saving it as a pdf (via File>Print) then opening the pdf in Preview and saving it as a jpeg. However, the resulting jpeg is only 150dpi for some reason.
Any help (or easier method, or tip for what other application is more suitable for this job) would be much appreciated!

  • Set exported resolution for each image within InDesign

I'm generating a document in InDesign destined only for the screen (as a PDF) and I'm wondering whether in CS6 the user can set the exported resolution separately for each image. i.e click on a image and set the resolution for that image. Reason: to allow end-viewers to zoom in on certain images and retain quality.
And while I'm on the subject of changing resolution, a few years ago someone wrote a script for me (in response to a post), that when you clicked on an image within InDesign, resampled the original to 300 dpi, saved it, and made the necessary adjustments in InDesign so the image stayed the same size.
Can CS6 do that? Or do I need to dig up the old script?

The developers of PDF will thank you for that statement!

  • How do I set document resolution

I'm trying to create a pages document that can be exported as a pdf, then converted to an ebook for uploading to an iPad. I've set the document size to 5"x7.5" (2x3 ratio) but can't find a method to set the document resoluton to 120 dpi. When I create the files and convert them (regardless of which PDF quality I use), the pdf file is fine and displays properly, but the conversion splits each page of the pdf file into four separate pages. I'm guessing that's due to the difference in the resolution between 300 dpi and 120. Any ideas?

    > I'm trying to create a pages document that can be exported as a pdf, then converted to an ebook for uploading to an iPad.
There are several formats for e-paper and e-book interchange, and the several formats are in two main document models. One set of formats follows from ISO 8879 Standard Generalized Markup Language and the other set of formats follows from ISO-IEC 10180 Standard Page Description Language. For instance, the e-Pub and HTML formats follow from ISO 8879 and the PostScript and PDF formats from ISO-IEC 10180.
    > I've set the document size to 5"x7.5" (2x3 ratio) but can't find a method to set the document resoluton to 120 dpi.
In the PS and PDF family of formats, document co-ordinate space has no resolution (: it is resolution indepedent). Objects in the co-ordinate space can either be resolution-independent (: scalable shapes that only get a resolution when they are rasterised to a specific device, for instance, TrueType typography, Type 1 typography, lines, and boxes), or resolution-dependent, for instance, photography.
For resolution-dependent objects, applications support two workflows. Some applications such as Apple Pages work on the assumption that you set the resolution in the software you use for exposure correction, other applications such as Adobe InDesign and QuarkXPress work on the assumption that you can do this later when the publication is processed. However, since you can't upsample from a lower to a higher resolution successfully in QuarkXPress or InDesign, it makes no difference if you don't save the resolution you need from the source application software.
So, begin by selecting the photographs you want, correct the exposures, and save the exposures with the ICC profile for the colour correction space into a named folder at the resolution you want. Then place them in whatever application you want, and save into PDF.
    > but the conversion splits each page of the pdf file into four separate pages. I'm guessing that's due to the difference in the resolution between 300 dpi and 120. Any ideas?
Since the document co-ordinate space in PostScript version twenty-something in the original Apple LaserWriter of January 1985 is always resolution-independent, it has been possible to tile several pages in the document space onto a single page in the device space of the printer. The number of pages you can tile depends in principle on the tiling geometry in the application that writes the page description program (2-up, 4-up, 8-up, 16-up and so forth), and in practice on the size of the printer format (A4, A3, A3 and so forth).
If a single page is split into several pages, then either the user has to have asked for this (for instance, when proofing a very large document co-ordinate space by tiling it onto a very small device space for a poster on a LaserWriter), or the user has to have accidentally made the settings for the printing system assume that this is the case. Without knowing what printer or what printer driver you have installed, a suggestion might be that your printer driver is passing the wrong information backwards to the system software. Printer drivers are made by printer manufacturers and may be specific to the printer model. You might have more luck if you ask the printer manufacturer's list. Otherwise, try the formatting option 'for any printer' when you write out your PDF page description program, open the page description program in Apple Preview, and then let the printing system do what it does - hopefully to your satisfaction.
    Best,
    Henrik

  • Macbook Pro Retina. Decimal HiDPI or set 1920x1200 resolution.

I'm running Arch on a 2013 Macbook Pro 13" with Retina display and Gnome. At the moment I am using the full resolution 2560x1600 and have scaled the fonts up a bit which is ok for now.
But I would really like to either HiDPI scale it to 1920x1200 (1.34 scaled) or I would just like to set the resolution to 1920x1200.
    Option #1 (HiDPI Scaling)
Gnome doesn't seem to have an option to scale decimally it is either on for off, if anyone knows how to scale the Gnome Shell decimally this would be my preferred solution to downscale to 1920x1200. From what I have found so far this doesn't seem to be possible.
Option #2 (Set resolution to 1920x1200)
This one I thought would be easier, I picked 1920x1200 because it 16:10 like the screen. However, it is not listed as a selectable resolution so I added it with xrandr but when I set it either using the display property in Gnome or using
    xrandr --output eDP1 --mode 1920x1200_60.00
it flickers for a bit then jumps back to 2560x1600. Any ideas why?

  • Setting monitor resolution in the login manager, before session launch

    Hey guys,
I want to have SLiM set the resolution to "auto" once it boots. At the moment, it seems like it boots directly into 800x600, and not into my native resolution, 1366x768. Sometimes I have an external monitor connected as well, and it's a good deal larger.
I was thinking it would be possible to run "xrandr --auto" which does this for me, but I am unable to see how exactly this is done through SLiM.
If it becomes necessary, I'm willing to change login manager to something else. gdm, xdm, kdm, you name it.
    Thanks,
    gonX

Are you using a /etc/X11/xorg.conf file?
If not,  then you may want to try setting up a basic one with settings for your video card, monitor, and screen that includes the resolution that you want slim to use.
Before XRandR, it was set up in the xorg.conf file.
Though, now that I think about it, if it's an issue with size of the fonts, I think that you can adjust that in the slim theme.   I don't use slim or any login manager.
I find that it's easier for me to log in via the console and startx manually.  That way if I break my X....      It's happened.

  • Can't set screen resolution

I have a Lenovo Yoga 2 Pro.  The native resolution is 3200x1800.  On archlinux (running latest Gnome3), I don't have the option to set the resolution to 1080p (1920x1080).  However, I do have this option on Ubuntu and it works perfectly.
I have read https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/xr … esolutions and did what it says.  Here's my script to change the resolution:
    xrandr --newmode 1080p 173.00 1920 2048 2248 2576 1080 1083 1088 1120 -hsync +vsync
    xrandr --addmode eDP1 1080p
    xrandr --output eDP1 --mode 1080p
    gsettings set org.gnome.desktop.interface text-scaling-factor 1.0
It worked for a while, but a few months ago, it stopped working.  When I run this script, the screen would blink twice, and go back to 3200x1800.  I ran the script with `journalctl -f` on, and here's what's in my logs:
    Mar 21 11:45:42 sargas gdm-Xorg-:0[303]: (II) intel(0): resizing framebuffer to 1920x1080
Mar 21 11:45:42 sargas gdm-Xorg-:0[303]: (II) intel(0): switch to mode [email protected] on eDP1 using pipe 0, position (0, 0), rotation normal, reflection none

You can see it switched right back to 3200x1800.  I don't see any information in other logs such as the X logs.  Any idea how I go about debugging it?  I know it's a supported resolution since I can change to it under Ubuntu and it used to work under Arch.
    Thanks in advance!

My sysadmin skills are rusty. I'm not sure how to see how it was mounted. I selected it from the vm's Devices menu and it gets mounted under /media.

It is executable, and I believe a ./VBoxLinuxAdditions-x86.run runs it, and yes, by "points to" I meant the first line in the script. So I'm not sure why I have to invoke it as */bin/sh* ./VBoxLinuxAdditions-x86.run to get it to run successfully.
I'm obviously beyond this, but if you have an answer it would satisfy a bit of curiosity.
After installing the additions, I can still only run at 1600x1200. I can live with this. I suspect it's a VirtualBox limitation since I can only give 128mb to video memory. After the GUI oracle11g database install, ssh is all I need anyway.
    Thanks all.

  • Trying to set console resolution to 1440x900 at startup

Hi, I've got an NVIDIA Quadro FX 1500M and I'd like to set my console resolution to 1440x900.
For starters, X works just fine. Everything goes great.
But when I boot into the console, I can't set a resolution any higher than 1024x768 which, on this laptop, looks pretty wonky. I've tried vbetest and having GRUB ask me at bootup, but nothing shows me an available resolution near 1440x900.
    Any thoughts? Danke.

    Hello
The solution is to use KMS (Kernel Mode Settings), to get the kernel to initialise the GPU itself, thus allowing every video mode in the console. This requires the nouveau driver.
    Cheers
