Setting save set pool on EBS 7.3.4

Hi,
I'm trying to configure EBS 7.3.3's backup pools so that for the individual pools (weekly, daily, monthly) the index (and anything else) relating to that particular backup get saved to the same tape.
What it's doing right now is saving the data that I want to the right tape pool but it's putting the index/probe information in the Default pool.
Is there a simple way to make sure it puts the index for that backup on the same tape or am I just missing something (a tickbox, textfield, etc that needs to be checked)?
Regards,
Scott

Pool definitions restrict what data can go there.
If your data is ending up in "Default", that means that that particular set of data isn't meeting all the restrictions you've placed on the other pools.
A common problem (not necessarily one you've hit) is to set a level restriction when it isn't needed. For instance, if you do fulls, 5's, and incrs, some folks try to check those boxes on the pool. It's not necessary, and the indexes when run will be upgraded from an 'incr' to a '9'. Suddenly, it doesn't match the pool so it goes to default.

    when I finished EBS 12 installation,
    I detect the time zone is not suitable, that is the database time zone(select dbtimezone from dual) is different from local timezone (select systimestamp from dual).
    for EBS12 installation, I did NOT find where to identify the timezone. Can you tell me where to set timezone , thanks!

  • Where can get info on Recommended Patch Collection sets (RPC) for EBS R12

    Where we can get the information for all modules Recommended Patch Collection sets (RPC). Please provide me the link.
    Thanks in Advance.

    Hi,
    I think there is a note for each module.
    For example here is a note for Payables.

  • Guidelines for setting Application Module Pool Size Parameters?

    Are there guidelines for setting the application module pool size parameters, such as initial pool size, maximum pool size, etc., based on the expected number of users or other factors? I've read the developer guide sections (ch 28-29), but still don't have a good feel for how to correctly set the optimal values for the pool configuration parameters? Even more importanty, how do I monitor the pool's efficiency during runtime to determine if the pooling parameters are configured correctly?
    This will be critical to performance and scalability, so I'm looking for a way to get some visibility into how the pooling is working during production operation to assess whether there are bottlenecks/constraints/ineffeciencies?
    Note I am using Tomcat as the java runtime container; ADF BC / JSF jdev 10.1.3.1
    Thanks in advance and Merry Christmas!

    KUBA - were you able to resolve these issues and if so are there any lessons learned you can share?
    I'm hoping someone from the ADF team can answer our original question including guidelines for setting pool parameters and how to monitor the pool's performance while running in production.

  • Multiple jdbc credentials : setting AM pool config parameters on runtime

    Hi
    was working with multiple jdbc credentials. In the custom JDBC cookie session factory, i try to set my AM configuration parameters , and pass this on to the env info provider , as instructed in the samples. But if i try to pass the JDBC Name , or configuration parameter etc , it refuses to recognize the connection. I have to specify the DB username, DB password and jdbc connection url string for the settings to actually take effect.
    I tried using data sources as well, but it in vain.
    Is this probably a bug , or is this an issue with how i have implemented it.
    code sample with createSessionCookie method of customJDBCSessionCookieFactory:-
    Hashtable env = pool.getEnvironment();
    env.remove(Configuration.DB_USERNAME_PROPERTY);
    env.remove(Configuration.DB_PASSWORD_PROPERTY);
    env.remove(Configuration.DB_CONNECT_STRING_PROPERTY);
    env.remove(Configuration.JDBC_CONNECTION_NAME);
    pool.setUserData(null);
    EnvInfoProvider provider = null;
    String dbSID = (String)request.getAttribute("dbSID");
    if(dbSID.equalsIgnoreCase("SID1")){
    provider = new DynamicJDBCEnvInfoProvider( "myJDBCName");
    session.setAttribute( Configuration.JDBC_CONNECTION_NAME, "myJDBCName");

  • Beginner setting up solaris 10 container and having network card problems

    Hi I am just learning about solaris containers and am having an issue of getting my new zone to be seen on the network.
    I have installed the global zone server name GPSAPP02 network address of 192.168.200.45 works fine.
    I created :-
    a pool called "ellipse-pool" using pooladm/poolcfg
    a zone called "ellipse-zone" using zoneadm/zonecfg
    I used the followijng commands...
    zoneadm list -cv
    zonecfg -z ellipse-zone
    create               --
    set zonepath=/zfspool/zones/ellipse-zone
    set autoboot=true
         add net
    set address=192.168.200.46/24
    set physical=eri0
    set defrouter=192.168.200.254
    end
    set pool=ellipse-pool
    verify
    commit
    exit
    The output from the "zonecfg -z ellipse-zone info" command is below:-
    zonename: ellipse-zone
    zonepath: /zfspool/zones/ellipse-zone
    brand: native
    autoboot: true
    bootargs:
    pool: ellipse-pool
    limitpriv:
    scheduling-class:
    ip-type: shared
    inherit-pkg-dir:
    dir: /lib
    inherit-pkg-dir:
    dir: /platform
    inherit-pkg-dir:
    dir: /sbin
    inherit-pkg-dir:
    dir: /usr
    net:
    address: 192.168.200.46/24
    physical: eri0
    defrouter not specified
    I then installed the zone and rebooted using zoneadm.
    I can login to the zone and setup the timezone and terminal etc.
    I gave this a hostname of GPSEL01 as this is what I want it to be known as on the network.
    So far so good but from the network I cannot ping the IP address I assigned to the zone 192.168.200.46
    What have I missed or what should I check to troubleshoot this?
    I ran a ifconfig -a and received the following information...
    ifconfig -a
    lo0:1: flags=2001000849<UP,LOOPBACK,RUNNING,MULTICAST,IPv4,VIRTUAL> mtu 8232 index 1
    inet 127.0.0.1 netmask ff000000
    # ifconfig lo0:1 192.168.200.46 netmask 255.255.255.0 up
    ifconfig: SIOCSLIFNETMASK: lo0:1: permission denied

    Hi
    I notice in your output from ifconfig -a in the global zone that the NIC card is nge1.
    However in your zoneconfig you have set the NIC card to eri0 (physical = eri0). I cannot see this NIC card in your ifconfig -a.
    When a zones is of IP-type shared-ip it needs to use a network interface that is already plumbed into the global zone. In your case you need to change the NIC in your zone config to nge1 :
    zonecfg -z ellipse-zone
    select net address=192.168.200.46
    set physical=nge1
    end
    exit
    Then reboot your zone.
    A couple of other minor comments.
    1) As it appears the zone is on the same subnet as the global zone, if the global zone already has the default route of 192.168.200.254 setup you don't need to specify it in the zone config. You are most likely to use the defrouter parameter if the zone was on a different subnet to the global zone (but shared the same physical NIC).
    2) You have specified the netmask in the address field which is fine. But again this should not be necessary as long as your /etc/netmasks file is correct in the global zone.
    Hope this helps

  • BI Data Access Set-based security

    Hi,
    My client is using EBS security feature “Data Access Set” for segment security. I'm looking for a tech note to implement this type of security from the OBIEE/OBIA side.
    Any pointers on this topic would be very much appreciated,
    Tarik Bouaziz.
    Environment: OBIEE 11.1.1.5.0 on Solaris Sparc64, OBIA 7.9.6.3, EBS 12.1.3

    Tarik,
    If I don't mistake, the "Data Access Set" security on EBS 12 is based on the Ledger-Based Security in OBIA (2.6.4 Ledger-Based Security for Oracle EBS).
    Gurus, thanks to confirm.
    Hope it helps,

  • EBS currency translation not "posting date"

    Hello,
    We implemented EBS ealier this year.  The currency translation date on the FF_5 postings is taking the "document date" and not the "posting date" when determining which currency exchange rate to use.  This is only an issue for a couple days at month end when the document date is in the current month, but the posting date is in the prior month.
    What do we need to do to change the currency selection back to "posting date".  I have never seen SAP use anything but posting date.  I have tried reviewing all the configuration of doc type and other set up during EBS implementation and cannot see how we have triggered this date.
    Any help appreciated.
    Regards,
    Morgan

    I neglected to mention that we are calling this currency translation through a WAD button using the SET_CURRENCY_TRANSLATION command.  I did do a test by applying the currency conversion within query key figure.  This seems to work.  So it appears the issue is with how the WAD is processing the variable, not the query.  When I display the variable in a drop down item within the WAD it does have the default value that I have assigned in user exit.

  • Webcenter and ebs R12 integration

    Hi,
    We are having trouble with integration of WebCenter 11g PS3 with Oracle E-Business suite R12.1 in some of our ebs environments.
    The step to set up E-Business suite portlet connection >WebCenter > Settings > Service Configuration > Portlet Producers > WRSP Producer failed with errors like :
    Failed imports exist for producer /oracle/adf/portlet/E-Business Suite WSRP Producer_383c5156-9596-4eeb-a005-8b218dc41c33 which is currently not registered in this application.
    A request to the producer URL "http://<host>:<port>/OA_HTML/portlets/WSRPServiceDescriptionService" resulted in a status 500 response with fault string "Internal Server Error (Caught exception while handling request: oracle.webdb.wsrp.server.ContainerRuntimeException: An internal error has occurred in method ConsumerRegistration.<init>())". The fault code given was "{http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/envelope/}Server".
    The attempt to register the producer with ID '{1}' for connection '/oracle/adf/portlet/E-Business Suite WSRP Producer_10ce66f7-704f-4512-be60-f297896a6eee' failed.
    Also, tried with WLS command - same errors
    wls:/ecm_domain/serverConfig> registerWSRPProducer('webcenter', 'E-Business Suite WSRP Producer', 'http://<host>:<port>/OA_HTML/portlets/WSRPBaseService?WSDL', timeout=100, server='WC_Spaces')
    It basically timeout. If timeout increases, it takes longer to hit the same error.
    This error is only occurring with setting connection to ebs running 2 apps nodes and on RAC database on 2 db servers. Anyone has integrated with ebs with RAC db and multiple apps servers successfully ? If so, what version of Webcenter and ebs ? I've logged an SR and has not progressed much in the last week or two.
    I am not sure if this is the right forum, pls let me know if there are any other appropriate forum for this.
    Thanks in adv,
    Mary

  • EBS performance impact using it as a Data Source

    I have a quick question on EBS performance. If I set up the EBS Database as a data source for SSRS (SQL Server Reporting Services), would there be a performance impact on EBS, due to SSRS accessing EBS Data for reports generation? Now, I know there'll always be a hit depending on the volume of data being accessed. But, my question is, will it be significantly higher using an external reporting tool using an ODBC connection rather than native XML Publisher.

    Tough to answer without looking at data; my suggestion would be to have a test EBS environment setup, get permission from the vendors to run performance test without buying license - compare AWRs from both scenarios and then decide.
    Generally speaking, native XML publisher (BI Publisher) has less of database performance hit than external reporting tools using ODBC.
    Hope this helps.

  • EBS Formats France

    Hi Folks,
    I have to set-up the EBS interface for CFONB120 and AFB120 (France) and I would kindly ask you for help.
    Can someone answer/ help with following:
    - Do both formats have the same external operation coding so that only one transaction type is required in config?
    - Is there some public resource available describing these formats?
    - Would it be possible to send some docu for SAP EBS settings related to this?
    Thanks.
    Kind Regards

    Yes you can do.
    You can create a new template(different short name) in XML Publusher Administor with same Data definition and upload your new template.
    then it automatically appear in Options when you submit concurrent program

  • Distributed transactions and connection pooling

    Hi,
    We have a problem with the enlistment of connections in distributed transactions.
    The following very simple C# program does not work correctly (a simple form with one button and a class hosted in COM+). If you put a breakpoint on "cnOraTx.Close();" you will see that the inserted record is already visible in the database although the transaction has not commited yet.
    If you comment out the lines between //START and //END everything works as expected.
    Also, if we use "Pooling=false" in the connection string, everything works fine again, but since we are writing a web application, we really need the connection pooling.
    We are using ODP.NET 9.2.0.2.102 (I also tried with the ODP.NET 9.2.0.4.0 BETA) and an oracle 8.1.7 database.
    Best Regards,
    Piet
    private void button1_Click(object sender, System.EventArgs e)

    //START
    OracleConnection cnOraTx;
    cnOraTx = new Oracle.DataAccess.Client.OracleConnection("Data Source=ECOMP532;User ID=USER;Password=PWD");
    cnOraTx.Open();
    cnOraTx.Close();
    cnOraTx.Dispose();
    //END
    OpenOraTransConn obj = new OpenOraTransConn();
    obj.Connect();
    //This class is going to be hosted within COM+

    public class OpenOraTransConn: ServicedComponent
    private OracleConnection cnOraTx;
    private OracleCommand cmd;
    internal void Connect()
    cnOraTx = new OracleConnection("Data Source=ECOMP532;User ID=USER;Password=PWD");
    cnOraTx.Open();
    cmd = new OracleCommand();
    cmd.Connection = cnOraTx;
    cmd.CommandText = "INSERT INTO SYSADM.PERSON (PE_KEY) VALUES(130000)";
    cmd.ExecuteNonQuery();
    cnOraTx.Close();
    cnOraTx.Dispose();
    ContextUtil.SetComplete();

    Hello:
    We are experiencing the exact same problem. INSERT, UPDATE or DELETE statements that should roll back because an exception is being thrown from inside our ServicedComponent-derived class (which is set to TransactionOption.Required and uses AutoComplete) are not -- and instead are being committed to the database.
    Were you able to figure out why this is happening, and what can be done to get around it? We too were able to avoid the problem by setting Pooling=False to our connect string, but for a variety of reasons we want to use connection pooling ...!

  • Why would connection pooling cause problems with a trigger?

    This is a strange one. We have an app that deletes a row in a database table, and this table has a delete trigger on it. The row gets deleted every time the app is run, yet the trigger only fires intermittently. It's not that the trigger is failiing in some way - it just doesn't get called at all. If I issue the same delete command in PL/SQL developer then the trigger fires every time.
    Several hours later and out of desparation I tried turning off connection pooling via the app's connection string, and found that the trigger now fires every time. Any ideas what might be causing this behaviour? I can reproduce/fix the issue every time simply by setting "Pooling" to true or false!
    We are using Oracle 11g and ODP.Net v4.112.2.0.
    Thanks in advance
    Andrew

    More information: I've now been able to reproduce this issue in a small .Net app, and can make it fail in a more consistent manner (which I'll explain later). While it's still too large to post the entire code here, I can summarise what the app does in pseudo-code:-
    for(int i = 1; i <= 10; i++) // Run the test a number of times
    // Step 1 - Delete rows from the table with the delete query in question
    Execute non-query "delete from test_table";
    Wait 1 second
    // Step 2 - Check that the delete actually happened
    Execute reader "select count(*) from test_table"
    Display the count
    // Step 3 - Check that the delete trigger inserted some rows into a "logging" table. This is my method of "tracing" - I added a basic insert to the start of each trigger section, as mentioned in my previous post.
    Execute reader "select count(*) from my_logging_table"
    Display the count
    // Reinstate the test data
    Execute non-query "<insert rows back into test_table>"
    Wait 1 second
    For info the connection string is fairly basic:- "Data Source=<tns name>;User Id=<foo>;Password=<bar>"
    Some points of interest:-
    - When running the above test app, the trigger successfully fires on the very first iteration (i.e. "Step 3" displays a non-zero count from the logging table). All subsequent iterations fail ("Step 3" displays the same count each time).
    - If I turn off connection pooling (by adding "Pooling=false" to the connection string), the trigger runs on every iteration (i.e. "Step 3" displays an ever-incrementing record count).
    - Regardless of whether it works or fails, the deletion in step 1 does take place (confirmed by "Step 2" displaying a count of zero).
    - I added the waits after the non-query calls to see if that made a difference, but it doesn't. I can change these to 10 seconds or more and it will have no effect on the issue.
    The "Execute non-query" method uses code along these lines:-
    using (var conn = new OracleConnection(ConnString))
    conn.Open();
    using (var cmd = conn.CreateCommand())
    cmd.CommandText = sql;
    cmd.CommandType = CommandType.Text;
    result = cmd.ExecuteNonQuery();
    conn.Close();
    return result;
    While the "Execute reader" method looks like this:-
    var conn = new OracleConnection(ConnString);
    conn.Open();
    var cmd = conn.CreateCommand();
    cmd.CommandText = sql;
    cmd.CommandType = CommandType.Text;
    return cmd.ExecuteReader(CommandBehavior.CloseConnection);
    The calling code in the for loop, wraps the returned reader in a using clause like this:-
    using (var reader = ExecuteReader("<sql>"))
    This will dispose of the reader, which will in turn close/dispose the connection (due to the CommandBehavior.CloseConnection parameter passed to ExecuteReader).
    Interestingly, if the reader isn't disposed of then the problem becomes more intermittent (the trigger will fire perhaps 25% of the time). This is what's happening in our unit test harness. By ensuring the reader/connection is closed and disposed (which common sense would say should improve matters), the trigger only fires on the very first iteration of the loop. The plot thickens.

  • Adding Data into text and graphic frames - PLEASE CAN SOMEONE HELP?

    Hello Script buddies,
    Here is my script and I want to place data into the frames which I set up already in the inDesign template which loads correctly but unable to place the data into the frames, please refer to comments and if anyone can help me I will be very grateful.

    Set myDocument = myInDesign.Open(PoolSignScheduleTemplate)
    'Frames, these commands won't work, can someone please help??
    Set DepthMarker = myDocument.Textframes.Item
    DepthMarker.Contents = PoolSignScheduleDepth
    Set WarningText = myDocument.Textframes.Item
    WarningText.Contents = PoolSignScheduleWarningText
    Set WarningSymbol = myDocument.Graphicframes.Item
    WarningSymbol.Contents = PoolSignScheduleWarningFile
    Set RegText = myDocument.Textframes.Item
    RegText.Contents= PoolSignScheduleRegText
    ' Save InDesign File to C:\ to be moved manually later to appropriate location
    myDocument.Save("C:\Pools\PoolSign\PoolSignScheduleSignNo.indd")
    myDocument.Close
    intRow = intRow + 1
    Loop
    objExcel.Quit
    WScript.Quit

    Hi Robert,
    Your problem starts here:
    Set DepthMarker = myDocument.Textframes.Item
    ...which item? Item takes either an integer (the index of the item) or a string (the contents of the label property, if any).
    Next, however, is that you should be more specific about *where* the text frame is in the document. What page or spread is it on? Let's say that the frame "DepthMarker" is on page 1:
    Set DepthMarker = myDocument.Pages.Item(1).TextFrames.Item(1)
    If there's only one frame on that page, you're in great shape. If not, you need to come up with some way to differentiate one frame from another. Script labels are a great way to do this. Let's say you've used the Script Label panel to add the label "DepthMarker" to the relevant frame on page 1, and added the label "WarningText" to another frame. In that case, you'd use something like this:
    Set DepthMarker = myDocument.Pages.Item(1).TextFrames.Item("DepthMarker")(0)
    Set WarningText = myDocument.Pages.Item(1).TextFrames.Item("WarningText")(0)
    ...When you use a string to refer to a page item by its label, InDesign returns an array, so you need to get the first item in the array (assuming that there's only one page item on the page with that label).
    Hope this makes sense! I'm typing it off the top of my head because I have to go speak at a conference tomorrow and am short on time--but it should get you pointed in the right direction.
    Thanks,
    Ole

  • 11g SQL query syntax/results differ from 10g

    Hello,
    A bit of an odd situation.  We have a report in 10g that is working as expected and when we run the same report in 11g we slightly different results.  The same physical tables and columns are being used between each report and the number of records (17) returned to OBI are the same.  Both queries are pulling from the same database with the same user id.  As there are differences in how 10g runs queries vs 11g, are there any odd behaviors that I should keep an eye out for in how 11g assembles the data that's returned from the db prior to presenting it on the Analysis?

    check the report for the columns which has incorrect values for any calculation, null handling.
    also check whether there is a difference in logical SQL between 10g and 11g.
    also check whether they are pointing to same db.
    check for null handling or default value not being set in 11g.
    try rebuilding the same report, to check the metrics individually verify they match with 10g.
