Setting Specific Programs to Run in 640x480 Resolution?

Hello again team,
Another question as I work on an OS X.3 image for my school's iBooks -- I know this sort of thing is possible in Windows, but does OS X allow you to specify that certain programs run in 640x480 screen resolution? Most applications I have loaded onto my "model" computer run fine in 1024x768, but there are a handful that appear very tiny in that resolution. Most of these apps are older ones that run under Classic/OS 9.2.2, and I'm wondering if it's possible to set a different standard resolution for Classic than for OS X? Or otherwise just specify the particular apps that I want running in the lower resolution? Thanks very much again for any and all advice you can pass along.

Hi,
Try this hint from MacOSXHints.
It describes a means of using Applescripting to change screen resolutions. With this info you could easily create a short script application that changes resolution appropriately and launches a specific app when double-clicked. I'm not sure how you'd then restore the resolution when you quit that app though.

5 hours to do 6 GB of transfer is NOT normal, even for USB 2.0 so there's something wrong here. I'd say cancel it, wipe the drive and then test the integrity of the drive. Either of two places.
If the program's icon is in the Dock, right-click or Control-click on that icon, then from the Options item select Open at Login.
Otherwise, go to System Preferences > Accounts (in Snow Leopard) or Users & Groups (in Lion). Select the account in the left pane, then click Login Items in the selector bar near the top of the screen. Use the "+" button to add the item you want.

I have an applescript that checks 4 times throughout the script if a specific app is running, but it is not setting the variable itExists all the time and I know I am doing something wrong. Here is the code:
tell application "System Events"
if exists process the_App then
set itExists to true
else
set itExists to false
end if
end tell
... and then I process based on the variable:
if itExists then
--do something
else
--do something else
end if
I tried to keep it simple, but in googling I may have oversimplified it. In researching it I don't think I should be setting a variable from within a Tell statement, but it does work, not all the time though.
Is there another efficient (and correct) way to accomplish this?
Any help is appreciated.

I think I found it:
If application the_App is running then
(and do processing here)
else
(and do more processing here)
I don't need the tell statements or the variables this way as I can process on the boolean right away. It is working consistently and Saved a lot of lines in my code as well.
Any other thoughts or have I got this right this time?

Scheduling of Broadcast Setting using Program

Hi,
Given Scenario is :
I have few broadcast setting on a Query. All settings are scheduled to be executed with the option " data change in infoprovider".. i.e. each time the DSO gets activated the settings would get triggered.
I have 4 process chains.
Each process chain has the Broadcaster event associated with it.
So every time the process chain runs it triggers ALL the mailers as all the settings are scheduled to run with activation of DSO.
Requirement is :
A particular no of setting should get triggered by a specific process chain. Meaning i should be able to trigger specific settings with specific process chains instead of all settings at one go.
Questions:
1. Is it possible ? if possible how?
2. Is there a program that runs at the background when the broadcast settings get triggered?
If yes, what is the program name?
3. Can we create variants of this program based on filter navigation settings and the trigger the mailers by scheduling this program variants.
Your valuable inputs will be appreciated.
Please suggest something.

Program wont run on secondary accounts

I am teaching my students a 3D modelling program called ZBrush from Pixologic. It is installed on the new Mac Pro and works great on my account. But when the students log into their user account, it wont open. I get a prompt saying....
NOTE
Out of disk space.
Virtual memeory file can´t be used until more disk space is made available.
It is recommended that you save your work and restart ZBrush.
I have contacted the manufacturer of ZBrush but they just said it sounded like a permissioin problem.
I have set no limitations to the student account. They have administrative access to the HD
Can anyone tell me what I can do to allow them access to this program?

My guess is that it isn't written (well) for Mac OS X Tiger and multiple accounts. Does each user have their own activation key or anything?
Is it Intel/Universal Binary? Do you have adequate memory and disk space? I would put all User Accounts on a non-boot drive, too.
You may need to give each student account a link to the program, move the program someplace else. Does the program write to its own directory? it shouldn't but might and they may have read only access to the program.
I say I don't think so as 10.0 is old, was mostly Carbon, and programs that run on and take advantage more fully of Tiger features and support, which is a good thing, require 10.4.6 or later. Seems they are still getting into the swing of 64-bit/Vista and support for more memory.
Students with admin access? do you want that? I don't think so. Restricted should be fine and keep them from getting into places they don't need to (but will).

For testing this, I cannot close period or change period date.
I know there is program that runs Accruals for all unpaid purchase orders (possibly in payables)
I searched, but could not find this program name.
Please help!!!

How can I set specific bits in a 16-bit integer?

Hello everyone,
as the title says I need to modify or rather to set a specific bit in a string which then is sent to a motor. I need to be sure that my command is correct as I am experiencing troubles with that motor and need to identify if its source.
First of all my strings have to be in the Little Endian order. Then the structure of the string should be the following:
Change Velocity command ‘V’xxCR 056h + one unsigned short (16-bit) integer + 0Dh (Note: Uppercase ‘V’)
Note: The lower 15 bits (Bit 14 through 0) contain the velocity value. The high-order bit (Bit 15) is used to indicate the microstep-to-step resolution: 0 = 10, 1 = 50 uSteps/step.
Until now, I used Flatten To String to convert 32 bit integers into bytes of the correct order. I thought I could use the Join Numbers function, but that only works for at least 8 bit numbers and there is no "1 bit number". I searched for an option to build a a string and set the bits via a Boolean Cluster, but I did not really understand how to transfer this to my problem.
How can I build up the correct 16-bit integer (e.g. set the velocity to "10000" with a resolution of 50 µSteps/step)
I would like to add the "V" and the CR via Concatenate Strings to the 16-bit integer, but other possibilites are also welcome.
I have seens the examples for bit manipulation in C-code, but I wish to do this with LabView as I am not familiar with C,matlab and so on.

You really need to learn Boolean logic and how to shift bits around.
AND is really good for masking out bits (forcing them to 0) and OR is really good for adding bit values. Then Logical Shift is used to get the bits in the right places before doing the AND and OR.
NOTE: Rate is an enum with 10 being a value of 0 and 50 being 1.

How to create a variant to a report from another program at run time

when i am using FM : /OSP/REPORT_CREATE_VARIANT to create a report variant from a program then i am getting an error 'For object /OSP/ERPNR , number range interval 01 does not exist ', how should i avoid it or can any one help me out to create a report variant from another program at run time with the results of the program.so that i can execute the report from here with this variant

If i understand you,
- You can use a FM like [RS_CREATE_VARIANT|https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/advancedsearch?cat=sdn_all&query=rs_create_variant+&adv=false&sortby=cm_rnd_rankvalue] to create a variant and then use it in the [SUBMIT|http://help.sap.com/erp2005_ehp_03/helpdata/EN/fa/096d67543b11d1898e0000e8322d00/frameset.htm] statement USING SELECTION-SET.
- But you may also use SUBMIT with WITH parameters which doesnt require variant creation and with much less programming efforts.
- You can mix the two solutions also.

Can a java program be run in the background?

Can a java program be run in the background without the user being aware of it? I need to make a program that continuosly monitors a pc at regular intervals and runs at all time. It should be hidden(shouldn't display on the screen while running) from the user, and also, can it be run as a system file so that even if a user checks he/she would think of it as a system file?

I'm the administrator of all the computers. Then as I said there are commercial applications that do that.
Presumably you expect a problem now. And implementing an acceptable solution is going to take you months. Because not only need to 'hide' the application, you also need to set up all the monitoring and logging capability. And the first will require quite a bit of JNI work along with testing (in particular as it could interfer with existing applications on the users computers.)

And if they don't have admin rights then you can simply turn off the ability to install anything.
