Setting the LDAP for HP OfficeJet Pro 8610

Having problems with the scan to email. don't know if this is the problem. I keep getting the a message about the IP address and not connect to the server, sometimes it work sometimes it do not. I want to set up the LDAP, but I do not know the information to put in. I click on the button to find settings I get a error.

Hi @caseqtr, and welcome to the HP Forums!
I don't know about recovering your password for the Embedded Web Server, but you can restore the network defaults on the printer to reset the password. Resetting the network defaults of course means you will need to reconfigure the wireless settings, but that is simply enough.
To restore network defaults, touch the right side of the touch scree and drag your finger to the left to scroll over to the second page of the home menu, then select Setup. In the Setup menu, choose The Network Setup, and navigate to Restore Network Defaults.
Please let me know if this resolves the issue, or if you require additional assistance. Thanks.

  • Can I use Replacement Printer ink cartridges for HP officejet Pro 8610

I recently purchased an HP OfficeJet Pro 8610. I previously had an 8600. They both use the same ink cartridges. I had just installed some remanufactured 950 XL and 951 XL cartridges in the old printer and tried to use them in the new printer. Of course I got an error message that cartridges weren't HP but the printer would still work. I would like to know if I can use other remanufactured ink cartridges with the new printer or if there is some way for the printer to allow me to use other ink cartridges as the HP cartridges are way over priced for the consumers. I hope there is a person out there that is conservative like me and tries to find the best bargains on everything. Your solutions would be appreciated. I waited on HP Support Assistant for 10 minutes with a dialogue I would be connected to a technician in less than a minute. They must have been on break or some other excuse, so I thought I would try this instead. Blessings. John Richardson

    Hey @rockhoundjohn
Here's the thing, yes, you can refill your cartridges or use remanufactured cartridges, but you may run into problems.
QualityLogic, one of the world's foremost quality assurance organizations, tested the performance of HP inkjet print cartridges vs. remanufactured (refilled) brands. The results: original HP inkjet print cartridges far surpassed ink refills in both print quality and reliability.
Nearly one out of every six refilled ink cartridges tested was dead on arrival or failed prematurely
70% of refilled cartridges had some form of reliability problem
Count on HP original ink cartridges for consistent, worry-free printing. You may think you're saving money on remanufactured or refilled ink cartridges, but in the long run, the cost of wasted time, ink, and paper can more than make up the difference.  - Source
Most people think, 'well of course that is what HP or an HP representative would say', but I have done some research and found that many others have too. Here is a perfect example of somebody who does not work for HP in any way and basically is a customer advocate (in my opinion) ; Should you refill your printer’s ink cartridges? HP says no (of course) By Matthew Murray
I found the above article interesting and genuine.
My personal recommendation is to buy the HP XL cartridges as they are more cost efficient, and be mindful in the printer you choose when buying an inkjet. The 8610 was a good choice. The expected page yield of the HP 950XL High Yield Black Original Ink Cartridge is 2300 pages. The regular size cartridge page yield is 1000, still good but the XL is by far a better value. Some of the Photosmart printers or Deskjets are great for what they are intended for, but do not have as good of a cost per page.
HP's recommendation; Keep in mind that page yield is just one component of cost, and that factors such as quality, reliability, productivity, and efficiency affect cost as well. Products that work reliably will ultimately save you time and money. When you choose an inkjet printer, make sure you consider your individual printing needs.
    - Source
To summarize, again, yes you can refill the cartridges. The printer is not programmed to reject them. Sometimes the cartridges will not work and of course because they are non HP, HP would not be able to do anything to help. HP cartridges have a 2 year manufacture warranty; Limited Warranty for HP Ink Cartridges and Customer-Replaceable Printheads for HP Inkjet Supplies, this may give you comfort knowing HP stand behind their product.

  • Installing OfficeJet Pro 8610

I am setting up a brand new officejet pro 8610 via usb, once I reach the stage where the software asks to connect the usb, I notice in the lower right next to the time, the device installation starts. Upon clicking on it, I see drivers being search for by windows updates, then one of them fails with a rex x. After this the hp software now tells me the install was unsuccessful. Is the point of the software not to install the drivers or am I missing something? Any workarounds for this? I am now getting into tech stuff so any explanations into what happens there when the device is plugged in would be helpful.

Are you using the Product Installation Software from this site
    http://support.hp.com/us-en/product/HP-Officejet-Pro-8610-e-All-in-One-Printer-series/5367603/model/...
It should not be using Windows Update as it installs its own drivers.

I would suggest cleaning the rollers in your Officejet 8610 to see if that helps with the noise you're hearing when you begin printing.

  • HP OfficeJet Pro 8610 Cartridge problem

I just buy new cartridges for HP OfficeJet Pro 8610. Model of cartridges is 950XL and 951XL C,M,Y. It's all brend new and original cartridges. The  problem is that when i install cartridges in printer the massage appear: " Older generation cartridge installed ". I spend a lot off money to buy this cartridges and it's very disappointing that i dont have my printer for work. Please HP, find a way to fix this issue that you made and sand me a working solution.

    Hi,
What Warranty end date is listed on the cartridge? is it still listed as warranties or not?
Also have a look on the error message on the printer, which cartridge it refers to? it should list a colored mark with the specific cartridge identification (C/Y/M/K)
If the Warranry end date has passed, that means the cartridge will not be accepted by the printer and should be replaced to a current one... if that is the case I would suggest conacting the retailer and replace the ink cartridge.

  • Driver can't communicate with new officejet pro 8610 for scanning

I just bought a new officejet pro 8610.  Followed all directions and set up with wireless connection.  Prints fine but will not scan.  Will not work if used at control panel on printer or software.  First tried it on a windows 7 machine.  Just tried on a new windows 8.1 machine - same problem.  Very frustrating.  Have done the HP scanner doctor and when it gets to driver it says scanner driver can't communicate to product.  Used disk and then went to HP web site and downloaded latest software and drivers - still does not work.
I'm about ready to take the printer back but am open to any ideas.

    Hi @ecsteve
It is possible you have a firewall or antivirus that is blocking the scan communication. Printing is considered outgoing and is not considered a threat, but because scanning is incoming communication, an antivirus or firewall could be blocking it to protect the computer.
If you have Norton, take a look at the following link; I cannot configure or access a network printer or other devices after I install my Norton product.
I found this in a post by @Norton_Support . If you have a different Anti Virus program, let me know and we will work through this together to come to a solution. Thanks.

  • How to connect HP Officejet Pro 8610 to a Laptop that's not connect to the internet

Just bought the HP Officejet Pro 8610 all-in-one for the local Historical Society. Neither the laptop nor the printer will be connected to the Internet. The printer will only be used for printing reports, scanning images, etc.
I have just removed the instruction manual to familiarize myself with the connecting procedure but I notice there are several references that require internet access.
Is there a work-around that allows me to install/connect the printer without requiring access to the internet?
Thank you in advance for your help.

    Hi,
How many computer will be using the printer ? If only one the USB (you may have to buy a cable) is the way to go. You can also use wireless direct to print but this is not reliable:

  • Digital (Fios) Dialtone for Officejet Pro 8610 fails

Is there a work around for using digital (Fios) dialtone for the fax feature.  Fax Test fails the Dial Tone  Detection test.  There must be others that have come accross this situation.  Thank you for any assistance in this issue.

    Hello @Ned612,
    Welcome to the HP forums.
I understand that you are having a hard time getting the Officejet 8610's fax feature to work with your digital phone line.
    I would like to help.
The following is a drawer statement in regards to fax.
Traditional HP fax-capable products were originally designed only for analog telephone systems. Though faxing over digital telephone services might work if you are using compatible equipment (such as a VoIP adapter) for digital-to-analog or analog-to-digital conversions, HP does not guarantee full compatibility with all digital telephone services. For more information about the configurations required for using digital telephone services, HP recommends that you consult your local telephone service provider.
That being stated, lets move forward.
It has been my experience that the fax test is not always 'spot on', when dealing with a digital phone line.
Despite the test failing, have you tried to send a fax?

Some other things to try are:
Turn off ECM mode (error correction mode).
    Slow down the fax speed.
